LESS than 1 star! Do NOT use this company, we only used them as State Farm recommended them. We had a water leak in the wall so they sent over two guys, these guys were in our home for 2 days. My husband was in the garage, in and out of the house, while the guys did the work of tearing out the wet walls and cabinets. Thursday Oct 31st I saw my 325 dollar watch on my dresser, Friday it was gone along with my family heirloom and opal ring 1500 dollars and several other rings. Just easy enough to walk in, grab them, and walk out of the bedroom. We called David and we called Edwin and they blew us off, asked if we had a video, of course not who runs a video of their bedroom while home. I have filed a police report and will report same to the contractors board and BBB. If I had read these reports I never would have trusted them. read more

Scope of work: Crawl space sewage leak. Extracted standing water from crawl space and prep'ed area for plumbers The guys who came (Hector and Jose) were true professionals! They only commented after a through inspection of the job site and answered all our questions before + after the first day of the job. Shady, shady, shady. Edwin was sent by my insurance company to give a more detailed quote for the work than the water remediation company could do. For some reason, my insurance company paid BMS Cat directly for the quoted estimate instead of paying me. Insurance and BMS Cat ghosted me. After 2 months I finally got someone at the insurance company to pay attention to me. BMS Cat is claiming I am not returning their calls and messages. I have never received a call or a message from them, and they have never responded to the emails I sent. BMS Cat was paid to do work in my bathroom, kept the money and didn't call me to schedule work. Lied and told the insurance I wasn't returning their calls. They didn't respond to my emails. read more

Do not use this company! They are by far the most unreliable, unprofessional, unqualified company I have ever had the misfortune of working with. They should be in business and cause more problems than they solve. The insurance company that recommended them has taken them off of their list due to the afformentioned. I've contacted the Better Business Bureau and The California Contractors License Board to file complaints. Consider yourself warned. read more

Don't give your service to BMS-CAT. They will be the first to show up at the damaged scene to board-up the damage and snag the project. Then it'll take them nearly 2 months before they start on the project AFTER telling us that it shouldn't take them more than 2 weeks to fix even with the insurance approving the quote. Initially, on one of the Mondays, they told us that they went to the wrong city to get the permits but will wait til Friday to get the permits from the right city. Why couldn't they go to the correct city to get the permits the next day/Tuesday? MAJOR RED FLAG. We've been reaching out to them almost on a daily basis for them to tell us they will work on the project the next day or two as our tenant's been displaced for almost 2 months in the hotel; yet, still no work has been done or even provide us a timeline of when they will be finished with this project. Time and time again, they tell us that they will show up in the next day or two. ANOTHER MAJOR RED FLAG. Had I known this was going to take this long, I would not have given them our deposit and given our business to another company who deserves our business. read more

Terrible experience. Our detached one car garage was destroyed by a fire in March 2021. BMS Cat was recommended by our insurance company for the cleanup and repair so we went with them. First, the mitigation team showed up and after the basic cleanup from the fire started doing unnecessary work such as running an air scrubber and scrubbing the wood beams to remove the smoke smell when it was obvious the structure needed to be demolished and rebuilt. We put a stop to that. Rebuilding didn't start until February 2022, and was done by a subcontractor of a subcontractor. BMS's project manager was incompetent, we had to find the suppliers and order the garage doors to prevent stalling due to lead time. Construction was completed in July 2022 but the permits still aren't signed off because the project manager couldn't keep track of the paperwork. Now over a year later the permits are all expired, the project manager got fired, we're now dealing with the 4th person at BMS who is trying to find and reconcile all the inspections and reports and get the project finalized. All BMS did was suck money out of the insurance company and completely screw up the process with the city. If your insurance company recommends BMS - just say no. read more

I recently had the pleasure of meeting a great group of people from BMS CAT of San Francisco. The company was a referral by an insurance company to clean up smoke damage from a fire. Their initial call came immediately after speaking with the insurance adjuster and the scope of work followed shortly thereafter. Edwin and his team were very punctual, professional, trustworthy and polite. All wore masks in this time of Covid-19. Their work exceeded my expectations. The end result was a home that was once again bright and order free of any residual smoke/fire damage. The team is meticulous and thorough, they unquestionably take a great amount of pride in their work and it shows. I thank you all for making this a very smooth experience. BMS Cat is a big restoration and construction company. It can handle emergency, heavy duty repairing work. My job may be a small job although it may take a bit long but since Anh Reid become the project manager for my repairs, the job is complete much faster and efficient. Never thought in a million years I'd be writing a review about company specializing in water damage restoration. What I won't do is write a positive review of my insurance adjuster! The team from BMS, led by Project Manager Les, KILLED IT in communication. Being a single-family home owner being left pretty much up to my own devices due to an absent adjuster, I was literally rescued by Les. He made sure I had constant communication on good days ...and bad. We were made to feel like friends/family...not a blank check. In a part of the world where you are constantly being made to pay more for less...I couldn't recommend these guys with more appreciation. Thanks! If there was a negative five stars I would choose that. Never ever let this con artist of a company get anywhere near your house or belongings. They are ambulance chasers. We had a house fire several years ago. Within minutes after the fire department came, they showed up pretending to have our best interest in mind. Do not sign anything with them unless you read the fine print. They do not want to take any responsibility of any wrong doing they do intentionally or unintentionally like being negligent in monitoring every member of their team that is involved in the pack out and restoration of items. Our house fire was contained in the garage. Yet many of our items were evaluated by this project manager o"and his crew to be non salvageable even though these items were no where near the fire, did not melt, were not burned to ashes, and did not suffer any water damage from the fire men. Interesting enough, those items were high valued items worth hundreds of dollars, some in the thousands, and some even tens of thousands. Did they clean this items and kept them themselves? I believe so. Considering these items were in the same area of other other items that they did clean and returned to us because they were not worth money or did not have a high resell value. On one document/contact they forged my signature!!! We were displaced for over a year and during this time they sent me two incomplete list of items that were total losses which meant we needed to claim them through our home insurance company and replace this items. Why were two incomplete list given at two separate times?! We moved back into our home only to find out our mattresses and pillows were not cleaned nor restored. My family had to sleep on the floor for several days. Why were we not better prepared? BMS CAT never gave us the list informing us they mattresses and pillows cannot be restored. After being away for over a year you would think that this information would have been disclosed to us much earlier. In fact they sent us the final two reports that disclosed the total loss items were bigger than the two previous sent to us while we were living in our rental home waiting for our house to be repaired. Why were these two final lists sent to us after we moved back? After we moved back and opened up all the boxes which contained our belongings we were shocked by how much stuff were not returned. Even items that that had been documented and photographed were not returned to us and went missing. More disturbing was the fact that we had more valuables and collectibles that were not documented at all. We had TENS of thousands of dollars worth of items that went missing under the watch of BMS CAT. Before I end this scathing review, please remember that they forged my signature and withheld important information from us, causing us to move back to a mattress-less house leaving us no choice but to sleep in the floor. These people are cold and ruthless. They take advantage of fire victims. Don't be their next victim. read more

BMS CAT were lifesavers in the beginning. I forgot the gentleman's name but the initial guy was sympathetic and so helpful and made sure that things were being taken care of the day of the accident. He got our roof patched. He stayed with us to make sure that we got the water mitigation started and drying process, assuring us that they did this all the time and insurance takes care of it. Well after the water restoration and we were ready for the remodeling part. Things became a lot slower. It would take a week at a time to get someone to come out or to give us an answer. Unfortunately two weeks have passed and we still did not get our estimate even after multiple voicemails. I like how they are quick to ask for payments though. RUDE. Again, follow up is so important or even just a quick call that says you're not interested. So we found another contractor and will be using them for the final step so we can finally move back into our home. read more

They went above and beyond to put our kitchen back together even better than it was before. Well, I can't say enough for the BMS- CAT team led by their project manager Edwin. I can say that this is best thing that happened to us after the minor appliance fire we had in our home. Right from the time their main contractor, Nexxus Solution group referred my case to BMS - CAT, the team showed up the same day ahead of the scheduled time, was very professional, thorough and extremely detailed oriented. The house need soot clean up and the team did an extremely good job of that - including communication, keeping me updated at all the times and giving correct estimates. All the appliances and every nook and corner of the house was cleaned in detailed and the house was as good as new in 5 days. Edwin was great to work with. He was at the site almost everyday and explained the process in detail. He also mentioned upfront the items that were going into the inventory list of the non-salvageable items. You must constantly request, demand and keep in touch and only then will the customer be served. Once they get around to the work it will be stellar. BMS CAT worked with me to get my place restored post-water damage. They kept me informed of the status of my repair throughout the entire process via emails and phone calls, which was greatly appreciated. This was my first insurance claim-related restoration, and although I had expected the repairs to be completed relatively quickly, my expectations may have been unrealistic as I have been told these insurance-related repairs do tend to take a bit more time. Needless to say, I was very happy with the end result and they did a fantastic job with the flooring! read more

We experienced some flood damage and the local fire department called BMS CAT on our behalf. Within an hour Mark the Emergency Service Coordinator was onsite to assess the damage/scope, after that Jose the Project Manager arrived and began to map out the restoration plan and staffing. Jose was very thorough and explained the overall process and what would happen. Shortly after Jose finished his work DeMarcus, Ed and Alex arrived to start the restoration process. DeMarcus clearly explained each step in the process, provided me with daily updates and what to expect next. While I'm sure most restoration companies will do a fine job, for me this high attention to detailed communication/explanation is invaluable when going through a traumatic and unfamiliar event such as having your home flooded. Also important is a high level of customer focus. DeMarcus and the team stayed the first day until midnight setting up all the equipment so remediation would start ASAP. They didn't even stop to eat until they were completely done. It is very clear that DeMarcus, Ed and Alex take customer service very seriously and strive to exceed the customers expectations. While BMS CAT is a company I hope to never have to call again (!), if I do need such disaster services I will certainly reach out to them. read more

I stopped at my apartment only to find damage to the unit (away from the necessary demolition) in addition to my apartment door unlocked! These guys run a loose ship and it is infuriating to find my apartment with valuables inside unlocked. read more

They were recommended by my insurance company. Jim McCarthy came out in August 2018 and spent about an hour and half taking pictures. He promised a quotation within two weeks. Despite multiple follow-ups no quotation was received. Just promises that "would get to it" I finally gave up trying to get a response. If they are too busy to do the job have the courtesy to simply say so. Don't waste potential clients and your own time. read more

This company is a joke and should hv licenses revoked. STAY AWAY. My ins co sent them out to do water mitigation. Uh...they tore out the entire wall, destroyed my cabinets and countertops and then claimed that was the condition they were in before they came in? Somewhere along the way they dislodged a 2nd pipe and when proj mgr EDWIN finally came in,unfortunately his focus was ONLY on "we didnt yank the cabinets down and lv them in bags wet, or leave ur granite in 1000 puzzle pieces". Although their team did the mitigation...and i hv pics n video of HIS wkrs.He actually argued with me abt reclosing the wall wit water running dwn it? Long story short, u call their new incoming regional vp who "will mk sure we tk care of it" only to hv the ins co call u to say they declined returning to the job.HORRIBLE BUSINESS practices, professionalism and work. I was so impressed by the crew who came in to restore our suite that had been recently flooded so this review is for Julio and Ron who seem to be amazing professionals: hard working, prompt and very knowledgeable. In addition, Julio went above and beyond to appease our stress levels which were understandably high during this event by explaining the process in detail and leading his coworkers to be efficient.
