Basically, they had to tear out the drywall and insulation from the wet area, dry and dehumidify the area for days, and then put on moon suits and remove any mold. We were able to have 2 techs come on a Friday and then let the dehumidifier run over the weekend. We also had to tear out our upper cabinet since the top was damaged by water. On Monday, they came back to remove any leftover mode and patch things up. The total price came in well below the estimate, which is a huge plus. Very happy with the service and efficiency. If you ever suspect you have water damage from leaks, call these guys and get the problem resolved to ensure mold doesn't form or worst, spread. Note that their services are purely restorative - they'll dry out the water-damaged area and get rid of all the mold. Bad on timing--failed to show to pick up equipment not once but twice. 5. Invoice sent to insurance company was hugely excessive, included services that were not performed, labor hours well beyond those provided on-site, materials that weren't used, and rates well above industry average. Invoice was NOT provided to the owners at all. 6. Billing consisted of presenting a single-value bill (no detailed invoice), with due date and billing date the same. 12 hours later: $35 "late" fee applied to "past due" bill. Every day: additional late fees. Hard to get in touch with billing and they are also just a hired billing firm; impossible to get in touch with project manager or any management at the company.

I didn't know 1-800 WATER DAMAGE are franchises of a larger company, but so far I had a good first impression. They sent one of their Project Managers Angel Torres to do an assessment. He came when he said would, was very friendly and explained things in a clear manner. After they sent a quote, I felt comfortable proceeding with them. Before an insurance adjuster could do their assessment, Angel came before to setup high grade dehumidifiers and air filters and do a hard surface cleaning. Angel also offered to be around with when the insurance adjuster came in case there were any questions he could help offer, I don't know if that's a common practice but Angel seemed sincere. Angel was very thorough in documenting/phographing every part of the process. He also offered to talk and explain things with my tenant, which I know helped put my tenant's mind at ease, most times the vendor doesn't bother talking to the tenants and leaves that to the owner/landlord to do, so my impression is that was above and beyond. Angel estimated the job would take 4-7 business days, I think his team did it in 5. While I'm sure they probably deal with bigger scale jobs than mine, Angel and his team were very responsive to my needs and my tenant's needs. After my insurance company caused complications that led to First Call terminating the job which I understood, I received an invoice in May of last year. I paid that balance in full with two separate checks within two weeks. I have the receipts, the copies of the checks, and the bank statements showing exactly when First Call cashed them. After a full year of zero communication, I woke up today to a voicemail and email threatening to send me to collections within 48 hours. They claimed they had been "trying to reach me" for 12 months, which is untrue. I checked my call logs and my email history; there was absolutely nothing. When I called and provided my proof of payment and the exact dates they cashed my checks, they admitted the "error" was simply because someone forgot to check a box in their system. It is incredibly stressful and offensive to have your credit threatened because a company can't be bothered to check their own bank deposits before sending out threats. As a veteran, I live by a standard of integrity and doing your due diligence. Relying on a "checked box" as the Bible instead of doing actual research is lazy and unprofessional. Do better, not just for your customers, but for the reputation of the guys out there doing the actual work.
