We came here last night before the Christmas light boat parade and snagged a nice seat outside. I started with a cup of clam chowder and did the chipotle club sandwich and my husband also started with the clam chowder and had the fish tacos. Let me start by saying this is some of the BEST if not the best clam chowder I have ever had. I have eaten a ton of chowder all over and this is easily top contender. My husband said the exact same thing we couldn't believe how good it was he even asked the owner who said they had been perfecting it for about 6 years now. If you go here and like clam chowder it's an absolute must!! The chipotle club was also delicious the sauce is really nice just a hint of heat and the large steak fries were also great. My husband liked the fish tacos but said they could of used a little more sauce or something to elevate them. He said if the chipotle sauce from my sandwich was on the tacos they would of been bomb. Service was great and food took a little long to come out (cause restaurant was packed) but nothing too crazy. All and all we had a great time and will 100% be back for this chowder in a huge bread bowl next time! read more

I stopped in for lunch on a quiet Wednesday. Was greeted quickly and seated right away. The ambiance is pretty casual/seaside pub but the prices on the menu seemed higher than I would have expected. I told my waitress I was debating between the halibut and the cod and she recommended the cod, which I got and enjoyed thoroughly. I ordered cod & shrimp & chips. Big portion, tons of food. Made fresh and didn't take longer than expected. I ended up bringing some home and that was good too. Didn't have room to try ordering a dessert. Overall nice experience. Restaurant was clean and my server was upbeat and had great enthusiasm and recommendations. I'm just not sure about the cost. That is the part that might mean I end up at another restaurant in the area. I would have expected a big more upscale atmosphere for that price-point. read more

Boatyard used to be a decent enough place to get a meal by the Harbor. Not anymore. The first thing we noticed when we entered, was they had done a bit of a remodel, replacing their tables with nice new booths. When we opened the new menu, we discovered how they were paying for it. Ouch. Very overpriced school cafeteria food. My wife had their fish and chips. Soggy, oily, and mushy. The coleslaw was the best part about it, but I'm pretty sure anything with that much sugar in it would taste great. I got the shepherd's pie. Oh dear. The last time I ate something like that was in the sixth grade. The menu description was quite impressive, but the reality of the dish was extremely disappointing. It consisted of about a cup of poorly spiced, greasy hamburger gravy topped with sticky, overwhipped, mashed potatoes, sprinkled with some melted cheddar cheese on top. It was accompanied by an extremely simplistic, green salad, with 3-4 tablespoons of bottled salad dressing in a little side bowl. She drank water - I had ice tea . . . Final bill - over 60 bucks for the two of us! Never again. Well, unless we are both feeling a little backed up. In which case, I would highly recommend this place - we barely made it home in time to get to the relief of our bathrooms. Boatyard, you're ship has sailed. read more

Came here to see the band Smokey and friends perform, but was amazed by the service and food! The waiters were so friendly and helpful. We ordered so much and everything was so delicious. The seafood was cooked to perfection! The melt in my mouth scallops and lobster tail was my favorite. I had a cup of clam chowder to start. So warm and tasty on this cold day. The calamari it was fried and crispy. The brussels sprouts had a balsamic glaze with walnuts. They basically tasted like candied vegetables. The buttery sauce they used on the seafood was so amazing , I kept dipping, my delicious garlic bread in it, I couldn't get enough. The place itself is pretty small but the atmosphere is such a vibe with the little anchors all around. Can't wait for Smokey and friends to play again so I have an excuse to go again. read more

Came here on 12/23/22 service was good and the food was great. Prices are reasonable as are the portions of food. Very satisfied we will be back to try more dishes. Took me 25 years to make it to the Boatyard. Tammy the Tornado and I walked in and took a seat at the bar like we've been in those stools since forever. The first thing I noticed was this bartender named Davina. She was floating from one spot to another on auto pilot. The joint was packed but it didn't faze this Mookie Betts LA Dodger lovin bar tender. She kept one eye on her customers and one eye on the Dodgers game. I've been on this planet for almost 65 years and rarely have I seen someone like this. Ok, enough about Davina. No, not enough. The Vodka Sodas she was making for the Tornado and the Bacardi Cokes she made me were done perfectly. I've been off the sauce for 2 years now and when I fell off the wagon I was hoping for some good drinks. She made the best drinks. Ordered off the happy hour menu and loved it! Service was friendly and fast on a Sunday afternoon. We sat on covered patio since we had our pup with us. Food: My hubby said that the clam chowder is the best he has ever had! Also, their fish and chips (4 large pieces of fish and beer battered (?) freedom fries) were hands down one of the best I have ever had. Fish was crunchy, perfectly battered (not too thick) and fish was moist. It was easily shareable if you got a side dish (hubby got a cup of clam chowder and I got 1/2 order of the house salad). Prices were decent for the fish & chips ($23.99) but a bit on the steep side for the cup of clam chowder ($8.99) and 1/2 house salad ($8.49) but everything was fresh and made to order. We came from out of town and had the most amazing lunch experience with Julie! Warm welcome as soon as we came in, and she helped us with our order since we didn't know what to get. I got the burger and a side of clam chowder, and it was the best clam chowder I've ever had! The burger was also one of the best I've had in years. This is a weird one to write. I can't tell if I would recommend this business or not. We had an 11.30 reservation on Sunday, but they finished serving breakfast at 11, and wouldn't allow us to order lunch until 12pm. What's that about? The food we had was mixed... The calamari was good - especially the chipotle dipping sauce. The ahi tacos had very little ahi in it, and was mostly cabbage. The clam chowder was tasty. We sat on the covered patio, and enjoyed the ambiance. There were heaters, if needed, and the people watching was fun. They have both inside and indoor seating. I'm not sure if this restaurant serves lunch or dinner as we only had breakfast menus. Portions are large. I was walking at the harbor today with my two little dogs off-leash (I know, my bad). But they have been doing it for years and always stick right next to me. As they followed along, I wasn't paying as close attention as I should have, as I was talking on my phone and distracted. Somewhere along our route, my one little dog, Moxie, became confused, & when I turned left, she turned right. When I got back to my car, I noticed Moxie was no longer there! I panicked! I put my one dog in the car & started retracing my steps, calling Moxie out loud & I'm sure people thought I was a crazy woman. As I neared the Boatyard Pub, I heard barking & saw 3 Boatyard Pub employees with Moxie & trying to coax her with some bacon. Moxie saw me and ran to me and all was well. The Boatyard employees could have been mad at me or blamed me, but they were so nice and comforting and I'm so glad it all ended okay. I sadly didn't get any of their names. But whoever was on duty on 01/14/25 at about 5:45PM are my heroes and saved me a lot of heartache. I took a friend to boat yard pub tonight , we were excited to have lobster. Let me say my friend is a tall man, vet , and he had a meal there that was not good , I told him , try it again , everything I eat there , had been great. The staff tried to sit us in a dark corner table for 2 and there was no way my friend would have fit , I talked to the waiter and he was going to give us a table that yes would have sat 4 or 6 because two tables were joined , we are walking to the table and another waiter I thought said you can't have that table , he was the manager. Great mariner atmosphere, incredibly friendly staff, strong and delicious drinks, and a homey feeling cuisine. Highly recommend trying this place both for breakfast and lunch as the menu changes. I'm infatuated with their eggs of all kinds and for lunch, I am a fan of their tender chicken skewers (the rice pilaf that pairs with is so fluffy and flavorful).
