We stopped by because hubby wanted to give them a try. We were greeted coming in the door by at least 3 friendly employees, the place was clean and bright, and we could sit anywhere. I wanted to love this place, but only came up with, "it's ok." For me. My husband was fine with it. He got the steak omelet, (after having ordered the Vegetable Omelet, but being updated by the manager(?) that the mushrooms were not looking good, so they were thrown out, which was much appreciated by us not to have been served the subpar mushrooms, and to be informed by someone about them. Thank you!) with grits, and a side of sausage gravy and biscuits. He was pleased with all. I ordered the French Toast with bacon, and a side of hash browns. The bacon was fine, the hash browns were fine, but not hot. The french toast was ok. Not sure what it was, but the bread used was different than what I am used to in that it got kind of gloopy soggy under the syrup and something was salty in the dish. It may be the bread was a specialty I was not familiar with. The staff was attentive and friendly. The manager(?) was attentive and friendly. He checked on us a couple times. A $51 breakfast for 2. I am sorry to say i am not wowed enough, or even pleased enough to want to travel down here again for breakfast. Perhaps if we were in the area, I would be interested in stopping by to try maybe their lunch or dinner menu

I visited the Bob & Edith's in Manassas for the first time on a Sunday morning. 20 minute wait for a table. I got my name on the wait list and waited outside. When my name was finally called - I was seated at the counter. After looking over the menu - I ordered Sausage Gravy and biscuits with crispy hash browns and two eggs over easy, plus coffee and water. Coffee came out first - and I had to request a utensil to stir my coffee. Then the Sausage Gravy & Biscuits came out - way to fast - and without the eggs. I had no silverware and no napkin - I had to flag down a server to ask for silverware and a napkin. It took them 5 minutes to return with silverware and napkin. My server then came back over and looked at my dish and told me they gave me the wrong potatoes. Eventually the eggs came out, I ate those - and then waited another 7 minutes for the hash browns... The biscuits were "bready" and not flaky as biscuits should be. The sausage gravy was not very sausagey - you could see the bits of sausage in the gravy - but it did not have much flavor. I added black pepper and hot sauce to improve the sausage gravy flavor. Food was hot - but they need to do some serious work on properly expediting orders and on customer service. I hope they get all of these issues worked out. #BobAndEdithsDiner

This is what I made at home after not eating at Bob & Edith's because the service was subpar.

Overall poor showing this time, three stars for average past experience, but my latest trip there will probably be my last. I've been here a few times prior to this past visit and overall was pretty good. The food is actually decent and in the past service fast and friendly. This time, not especially. Our server took our order without writing anything down which typically doesn't go well but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I shouldn't have. After a long wait (25 minutes) in which drinks were forgotten and coffee not refilled, food started to arrive. My entire order was incorrect - wrong side, other things missing. I told the server, who went back to correct it. Then time went on. She checked in about five minutes later and had seemingly forgotten as I reminded her. Meanwhile my food got cold. The rest of my party finished eating, and 15 minutes later I took my plate back to the counter and handed it back and said no thanks, I'll just not eat here and prefer to go home and eat. I wasn't going to spend money on cold food so I could eat alone after my entire party was finished. At least the manager came by to see what was the matter and I explained to him why this was a problem. He was apologetic enough to take the stuff I ordered off the bill, and I let him know l that I'd probably not bother coming back. He seemed ambivalent to this or trying to make it right. I guess since I wasn't being rude or difficult he felt like he didn't have to. Call it a draw, maybe, but I can see why the place has declined. Still ended up spending 50 bucks for my wife and two kids. Not worth the trouble, lesson learned. Every once in a while it's nice to go somewhere and not have to worry about cooking, but I'm finding that around this area it's hard to find a place that can even do the simple things. It's just not worth it. Posting a photo of what I made for myself at home instead.

We came to Bob and Edith's newly-opened location in Manassas for a late breakfast. It was a crowded morning, so we had to wait to get a table - but it was okay. The first thing that I noticed is that they don't have a waitlist system nor have a seating system - we had to wait until a server noticed that we weren't given the menu. We had Chipped Beef over Toast and Hashbrowns while my partner had Steak and Eggs with Shrimp and Grits. The Chipped Beef was okay - although I enjoyed my hashbrown topped with cheese. However, the steak was overcooked, which was somehow expected. Regarding the price, it was a little more expensive than we expected. Ambiance is okay - hopefully they stay clean even when they start operating 24/7.

The food the atmosphere is old school dinner feel and I loved it. Best breakfast in town for sure.

My wife and I had a great experience. Our waitress, Ashley, was terrific. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the pricing was decent.

A decent food option for breakfast food, but after that, caveat emptor. Yes, it is clean and has friendly service--BUT--the music is TOO F'N LOUD. In a place with zero textiles to absorb sound and a volume level that rivals a prepubescent headbanger with his first stereo, that ambiance alone makes it the most unpleasant of dining experiences. PLEASE turn down the volume significantly so that there is a remote chance to actually enjoy your meal. Now, let's talk food. The green beans taste like they came straight from a (very old) metal can. No seasoning at all and cold. The fish was MAYBE a quarter inch thick. Reminiscent of a generic budget boxed fish stick. Equally artificial were the two chicken pucks served with (partially) rehydrated hash browns fried in what tasted like old oil. Crunchy, but not in the right way. Yes, the chicken was perfectly round. Would have liked to have met that bird. And the 1" scoop of oleo to accompany the over-cooked biscuits, well, we all know how healthy petroleum-based fake butter is. When my husband - who eats just about anything - says "the only thing on the table with flavor is the tartar sauce," that pretty much sums it up.

Service Excellence! The food was food. The meatloaf was dry on the edges and mush on the inside. You could taste the tomato sauce even with the abundance of brown gravy. Mash potatoes were a little thin. The mixed vegetables were fresh and the highlight of the meal.

BLUF: Kinda reasonably priced but food was just ok. Not as good as hyped. Service was good with some staff, but one of the dudes was rude and seemed a bit prejudiced. Kept intentionally ignoring me while addressing others at my table. Will I go back? Maybe if in the area, but it's not worth the drive nor the wait. Small, cramped location. It's your standard breakfast fare but not memorable. I'd rather go to IHOP.

She kept our waters filled and checked on us a couple times. Food came out fairly quickly. The menu is a mix of Greek, Italian and American, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. I had a bowl of clam chowder that was absolutely delicious. The Greek salad is very refreshing and tasty as well. My brother had the spinach pie (spanakopita), which he said was flavorful. My husband had the gyro with fries. Their hand cut fries are delicious. He loved his gyro, which was packed with meat. The food is good, portions are generous and prices are reasonable. They do have a bar and cater events. A Loyalty Customer Card is available for frequent visitors. Worth a visit.

I also do not want a response from the owner or management. I genuinely wish this small local business well, but I can no longer justify giving it another chance. During our previous visits, we already felt the value compared to the pricing was becoming questionable, but we wanted the restaurant to succeed. Today sealed the deal. When we arrived, only about 4 or 5 of the roughly 12 tables were occupied, with two waiters working the dining room. Most of the empty tables were dirty, many still covered with dishes from previous customers. The floor throughout the dining room was dirty and covered with debris. One waiter asked how many were in our party and directed us to a table. He sprayed and wiped only half the table with Windex. The other half, where the condiments were sitting, remained dirty. A few minutes after sitting down, I unfortunately put my finger directly into old sticky syrup that had clearly not been cleaned. The waiter took our order fairly quickly, but then poured cream directly into our coffees instead of letting us add it ourselves. Mine ended up with far too much cream. While waiting to use the restroom, I had a clear view into the kitchen area and noticed the kitchen floor appeared just as dirty as the dining room floor. What stood out most was that neither waiter seemed aware of or concerned about the overall cleanliness of the restaurant. There was no sense of urgency or attention to the condition of the dining room. After waiting several minutes for the men's restroom, one waiter told me to go ahead and use the women's restroom instead. The restroom itself seemed reasonably clean, but the paper towel dispenser was broken, and a loose roll of paper towels was sitting on top of the toilet, damp from previous use. When we were ready to leave, one waiter asked how the service was. At that point, I simply wanted to leave as quickly as possible, so I said it was fine. He then left the payment machine at the table for me to run my own card, and even the machine itself was damp and unclean. Overall, the entire restaurant felt sticky, dirty, and poorly maintained. The tables were not being properly cleaned, the floors were sticky throughout the restaurant, and the overall lack of cleanliness completely overshadowed the meal itself. I truly wish this business success, but after three visits, I will not be returning.

I was intrigued by the pastrami sandwich options on the menu and really appreciated that gluten free bread was an option, so I had to try it! I was not disappointed at all. For example, yesterday, I had their Peter's Special, a sandwich made from 1/2 lb of pastrami and 1/2 lb of corned beef. Except that it's not "a" sandwich, but three, all on delicious rye bread, each with its own pickle, and a small helping of slaw, sauerkraut, and a major pile of salad. It was my lunch yesterday; the remaining two sandwiches are my lunch today and tomorrow. That's three meals for $30, which, to me, is a reasonable price. The problem was that the more they do to create the food, the less flavorful it is. For example, on another recent visit, I had their Country Style Omelet. Again, it was huge and contained everything that goes into a great omelet. Except, there wasn't a lot of flavor. And that seems to be the theme. I grabbed a slice of their 24-layer cake and, again, big but not much taste beyond sweetness. If you crave a lot of food, then this might be the spot for you. However, if you prefer less and more, smaller portions with better, more nuanced flavor, then maybe try one of the other nearby restaurants.

Finally crossed off my bucket list after a year of waiting--and it absolutely lived up to the…read morehype. We had a 3:45 dinner reservation and arrived a few minutes early. After checking in, we were quickly guided upstairs to a cozy, rounded booth--an intimate and perfect spot for two. Our server, Katie, was fantastic--attentive, knowledgeable, and refreshingly honest when helping us choose between dishes. We started with the deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes, paired with the Black Sheep Mule and a watermelon cocktail (wish I remembered the name!). For our mains, we ordered the short rib rigatoni and the steak bulgogi bowl. To finish, we shared the weekly dessert special: an Earl Grey tres leches. Everything was exactly what I hoped for and more. The starters were standout, the entrees were packed with flavor, and the overall aesthetic of the space was just beautiful. We'll definitely be back--next time for brunch!

This review is long overdue as it was a really great experience! This was a birthday dinner for me…read moreback in January and I reserved the loft area for me and my girls to celebrate. It was also my first time at The Black Sheep but I had always heard wonderful things - all of which turned out to be true. The loft area is beautiful and overlooks the entire restaurant. Also when you reserve the loft, which holds up to 16 people, you order off the regular menu. I loved this as other places I checked into were much more restrictive with a higher minimum spend and fixed menus for groups larger than 8. We had 12 in our group. We started with a bunch of appetizers for the table and cocktails. Appetizers included the bacon tower, fried green tomatoes, hushpuppies, crispy chicken wings, and Mediterranean garlic shrimp. Dinner entreés were jambalaya pasta, the American wagyu burger, pulled short rib rigatoni and branzino almondine. There were zero complaints. We enjoyed EVERYTHING!! The bourbon butter cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert literally took me over the top. My belly was ready to burst :) Our waiter was attentive throughout the entire time and everything we ordered came out perfect. I must go back soon. It is a distance from where I live but there's so many things on the fabulous menu I want to try.
