I ordered a simple breakfast of eggs over easy with wheat toast and fruit cup. It took them half an hour to bring it out, and when they did, it was just two eggs on a cold plate. The waitress was snarky when I asked about the toast and fruit, saying "I have to wait for the kitchen." Nice and cozy Bob Evans! Seemed pretty busy since it was a Saturday morning, but we still got great service. The food and drinks also came out relatively quickly and correctly. You can get a lot with even one item here. One of my friends got eggs with French toast, eggs, sausage, and fruit, and that came with one meal. They also have a savings meal, and you can personalize which sides you get. Huge menu so there's something for everyone. Inside was clean, and though there was a lot of people, we had no problem hearing each other. Would definitely recommend this location. read more

I grew up going to Bob Evans for both breakfast and dinner, so I have a soft spot for them. Still the same interior decor, same friendly service, and similar menu. But the quality of the food on my most recent visit Sept 2023 was not what I remember. The hash browns and bacon were both kind of soggy. Reminiscent of cheap hotel breakfasts. Growing up in the early and late 80s, one of the "indulgences" my lower-middle-class upbringing enjoyed from time to time was the family dinner at Bob Evans. The experience was hallmarked by decent food at a reasonable price, surrounded in a temple of made-to-order cookery enshrined in walls and booths of deeply stained wood and faux-leather trimmed seats.I can actually remember the day we "upgraded" from our trips to Denny's after my father got a slight pay bump. It was a big wind for us. Now, we didn't go every day, but those special bi-weekly visits are the kind of things that businesses dream of. Building a brand through repetition and cultural muscle memory that keeps us coming back through the years and into adulthood. So it's jarring, disturbing even, when even more time passes and the cherish location of your memories is forced to evolve with the times to maintain relevancy in the demands of modernity's drive toward immediate gratification, and focus on decentralized acquisition of goods and services - even food. Some people if you read the review have clearly seen the damage that was done in this change towards a focus on packaged meals and "to-go" ordering. The interior, once a bastion of old-world 1950s/60s/70s paneling and plaid trim, is now sleek and modern with a minimalist take on the farmstead motif. To me, however, in contrast to others' experiences have seen no drop in the quality of food or service. The food was never Zagat or Michelin rated to begin with, so I fail to see what the difference could be. It's solid food for working-wages. The faces change, but the service is still offered by a youthful and energetic face working at a frantic pace. This particular Bob Evans is my personal one due to proximity to my house, so in terms of direct commentary on the location, I feel that it is clean and the staff prompt and competent. The kitchen makes everything well and has never given me something I did not want to eat with relish and wanton abandon to satisfy my hunger. I enjoy it for Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner. I order with confidence, and aside from a few order mix-ups when getting take-out, they do a good job. Even though it may not be the place of my youth, it's still at it's core a place that serves reliable food to the masses without breaking the bank, and if they maintain that concept they'll always have my business. Everytime I come to Columbus, OH for my business trips, I always have to come into Bob Evans. The staff is always friendly and this place has very affordable prices. Their eggs are very fresh and do taste like they use brown eggs for the extra flavor. Forget those IHOPS, or Dennys, or those other traditional American food restaurants. Last time I went here earlier in the here before things went too topsy-turvy, and it was just bad. My server was unfriendly and got my order wrong, and the food was just okay. Unfortunately this location has been very inconsistent over the years with one time being subpar, and the next time being perfectly fine. Over the past couple of years though, instead of being inconsistent things are now consistently bad. I let the last time slide, but after tonight I'm just done. I am travelling and was at first hesitant to eat at this location. I am a big fan of consistency and Bob Evans is usually on the list. I did NOT find the issues during my visit that some of the older reviews indicated. The staff seemed to work well and complemented the cooks about the food (I sat at the counter). The location was clean. The service was prompt. I ordered the Sausage Gravy and Biscuits with 2 Eggs Over Medium. My food was tasty. I was in and out with no issues. We decided to get salads at Bob Evans tonight. What a poor decision. They've removed the Cobb salad (my favorite) from the menu so I ordered the Pecan Cranberry. I had to pick around the chunk of the core of the lettuce while eating. The only bread they offered were the dinner rolls or biscuits, no bakery bread options at all. Bob Evans used to have the best yeast dinner rolls. I don't know why they changed but those hockey pucks they offer now are hardly worth the effort. Because of that we chose biscuits. Another disappointment - I don't think they'd seen an over or warming tray in hours. They looked nice, but were cold and hard. Bob Evans has made some really questionable choices regarding the food they are offering. At one time I knew I could count on really good warm rolls or biscuits. But now, I will think twice about eating here again. read more

I am sometimes down on this farm branded chain, and then sometimes up. This store, there on Bethal before the street makes its lazy end at 315, is no change from the corps-wide 'bipolarness' of the chain. I've came here for years because their simple rural meals were always consistent--you knew what you were going to get--and the service was excellent. Today I find myself visiting less and less; though the upspring in competition has something to do with it, the main cause is that Bob's seem to be in a slow decline. This store seems to suffer from staff changes. For several years they've maintained a quality staff that knew and executed their job with friendly precision. This staff has completely turned over in the last few years leaving a bit of a void. Though I was want for nothing this trip and the service was good, it still seemed something was unharmonious. What really has dropped this place from the top-five of my Breakfast choices is food quality. They just don't hit the high notes they once did with their folk tunes (dishes.) The culprit is upper management I think; pressured by either food cost or profit margin they have selected to cut ingredients or amount instead of raising prices. I am on the Yelp record in saying I'd rather pay a few more cents then be scrimped on quality. Here are a couple points in that regard: 1.) The Western Omelet once chuncked full of ham and peppers is now a thin egg wrapped phantom of itself. Omelets, to me at least, are about the filling. The egg is just the base; it is not meant to be the strongest flavor. But as they fix it today it comes off as scrambled eggs with a ham seasoning. Today it has at most 1/3 of the ham it once did, for what I can tell. 2.) Their blueberry hotcakes ( imbed fruit which I like) once busting with berries in a thick cooked batter are now thinner disks with substantially less berries. Ten years ago these came almost purple with the berries teaming at the top. Today they often don't look like they have any fruit at all coming off the stove. 3.) Home fries, wedges of potatoes that Bob was a mainstream master at, once came in an adequate pile. Today they serve fewer wedges an order as a side. They also seem to be lessed cooked, as too often they are not absolutely soft all the way through. The issue here isn't just value. Making a product with less than the recipe is changing the product. A chain like Bob's thrives on consistency--you know what you are going to get. When they tinker with that they threaten their very strength in the market. Be that as it is, it is still a 3-star place imho. Out of staters may like its comfort food down on the farm ethic and I urge any one if them interested to try it. It is still good and may be a novelty for them. But for us long term midwesterners, it has lost a few steps, and that's a shame. Though the coffee is still great! read more

I have eaten at Bob Evans basically all of my life. Over the past several years they have undergone management and ownership changes. Unfortunately, that has shown up in the quality of the food and service. As I have said before, I am a huge fan of breakfast food, however, Bob Evans is dropping on my list of favorites. My go-to meal at Bob Evans is the Ham and Cheddar omelette. The problem is the "cheddar" on the top (and maybe inside) seems to be an American cheese single, and not a good shredded cheddar. Otherwise, the rest of the food is "ok" but nothing special. Service was much better though than other recent Bob Evens experiences. We usually like the home style cooking at Bob Evans, so tonight we decided to order take out. I ordered the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and corn Dinner bell plate, my husband had the turkey plate. My chicken was so tough it was impossible to cut and nearly impossible to chew. I have never had chicken that tough!! It didn't appear to be under cooked or over cooked. The rest of the meal was okay although barely warm. The rolls were good. Bob Evans is one of the most consistent chains I've ever been to, the quality is always there so really its the people and how friendly they are that sets any particular restaurants apart. This is one of the better ones and that's why we continue to patronize it. As always the place is clean and if you come on Sunday morning prepare to wait a bit. read more

My experience at this location today was horrible. I understand that it was a Sunday morning after church so the wait was to be expected, that was the least of our annoyances today. Our server was like a snail, people who were seated after us got their food and checks before we did and were out! When our food was brought we didn't have silverware so we asked for some along with some other items (cream, syrup). As our sever started back to the table she realized that we were watching her and that she had forgotten to get the silverware. What is usually a 30 minute meal ended up being more than an hour. As we were checking out the cashier asked how everything was and we told her she replied she had other complaints about the same server and asked if we wanted to talk to a manager. I asked about this and was treated quite rudely, with some nonsense about how they were backed up on orders. I saw these people place orders AFTER me and get served first! When I got home, one of the dressing containers had not been sealed properly so the bag was a mess. Also, I ordered 2 different types of dressings (2 salads) but only got one type of dressing. The wait wasn't long at all which i was super glad of, me and my family waited at least 15 mins just to get drinks waitress didn't come till another 10 mins just to ask what we wanted to eat after that we waited longer than an hour just to get our food which wasn't good at all. It's a very professionally run organization with each area seemingly on top of its game. Food was quick and accurate, food was good! Renee, my waitress was less than impressive. Came in for breakfast solo this morning - wanted to get some work done while I ate. First thing she says "you want coffee, juice...." not hi or good morning. Followed up with " do you need some time or are you ready?" When she came back to take my order: "what would you like?" And when she dropped off my food: "here". You know, it was comfortably busy in here. Tables are filled but nothing crazy. I though maybe she was just having a rough morning or something but she's been sweet as pie to the other tables (the ones that are filled with multiple people). My take away.... don't go to bob Evans solo, you'll irritate the wait staff. read more
