Every time my husband and I, come for breakfast it's AMAZING!!! We always get the fried steak and he get the sirloin. Never a time have we've been disappointed. Today we had an amazing server named Kristen! Now I, myself am a server at an upscale Italian restaurant in Charlotte NC. I was so upset due to the fact that our amazing server was being reprimanded in from of customers from some one that called herself " The organizer" for talking to customers! Well In our business of serving the public, talking and engaging in conversation with customers is what's going to drive your sales up. Might I add increase the tip size as well. I give Bob Evans 5 stars and our server Kristen 5 stars! We will always be returning, but I hope I never see that happen again. Btw the General Manager was there today, really nice gentleman and he also checked us out, he also engaged in Conversation with me about my shirt!!! So disappointing ! My out of town family always wanted to go to Bob Evan's for breakfast but not anymore. Coffee was so weak. Iced tea like water and the tomatoes in my cheese and tomato omelette were canned. Canned! In August! And , not much cheese. What happened Bob?? Staff was lovely still. On the way to Hendersonville, we stopped at the Bob Evans in Hickory. The food, prices and service were great. My Sister Pea and I ordered a Dinner Bell Special for only $8.99 each. These are slightly smaller portions but still ample. You also get a choice of roll, Texas toast or banana bread. Yes, banana bread! My Bubba Bean ordered the Honey Butter Chicken and Biscuit. Two things Worst was men's bathroom. Used paper towels on floor. Urinal had a paper towel in it. Appears as though management care very little about cleanliness or appearance. Restaurants should be spotless or else customers think the food is bad too. Food was acceptable. Female checkout woman was gross in appearance. She had a tattoo on her right facial cheek. My wife caught her foot on a wire stand near the front door and fell on her face on the floor. All of the patrons around us came to our aid as I lifted her from the floor. Her lip was cut and bleeding . Several guests gave up their seats on the bench so we could sit while I attended to her. A kind lady got her some ice to put on the cut and napkins to help catch the bleeding. However no one from the store helped at all. The manager would not even speak to us and avoided us completely. We had poor service and cold food. We arrived at 11:30am and they were not very busy. We had to wait for them to clear a table for 4 adults and 1 child. It took about 10 minutes to get our drinks and then got to order. We all ordered from the lunch menu. It took 45 minutes to get our food and we had to go and ask to get refills on our coffee and tea. The food appeared to have been sitting under the warmer for a while. My soup was just slightly still warm and my pickles with my sandwich were hot. The other meals came out in similar fashion. My husband and I went here for our lunch "Day Date" for the first time ever on Friday 5/10/24. We wanted to try it out since we have lived here in Hickory for 11 years and hadn't. I had the Pot Roast and my husband had the Country Fried Steak. We both agreed that the mashed potatoes were excellent, however there was barely any on our plates at all. My Pot Roast had gel-like fat all in it that was so disgusting that I just stopped trying to eat it. It was bland tasting and the carrots were half cooked and bland as well. My husband said that his Country Fried Steak was also bland and had a weird texture when chewing it. I was surprised how good it is. Hickory needs more diners. The biscuits are so good. The chicken fried steak is thin and so flavorful. The scrambled eggs are good. The grits are so delicious. They have fresh squeezed OJ. No refills. They have apple juice mixed with pomegranates. The honey chicken is very tasty. It has a nice farm village feel to it. Poorly managed. Manager delayed food service to table near us for 7 minutes (I timed food in the service window) as she apparently chastised a server in public. If I could give no stars I would, horrible service and no one had any sense of urgency to do their job. Waited 15 minutes just to get drinks and make no mistake the restaurant wasn't busy. We watched one man wait 17 minutes to get his check to pay. All the staff were women who would rather stand around and talk rather than bus tables and attend to customers. I watched one worker take over 45 minutes to clear a table of its mess. She took four plates away from it then only decided to actually clear it once our waitress started cleaning it off. Even then the busser wanted to talk to the waitress more than do her job. Who ever manages this restaurant should be fired because they do not know how to manage their staff and the staff would rather sit around and look busy than actually work. read more

Can't say enough about the crew at your Hickory, NC Restaurant! We went there for our family Thanksgiving Meal this year and couldn't be more pleased! The food was fantastic and the staff was incredible. It was around 6 PM when we arrived and they had been super busy, but they gave the BEST customer service. They made our 2022 Thanksgiving! I got country fried steak and eggs with country potatoes my potatoes weren't crispy although they were very very dark so I don't understand how they weren't crispy my country fried steak was gristle I took one bite of it and left it on my plate the waitress did replace it with pot roast the pot roast had a funky taste to me. We got an appetizer of the maple pepper bacon the maple was only on the middle part of the bacon was not evenly distributed at all. Our waitress was non-existent we had a flag a waitress down. Asked for a to go box sat there for another 10 minutes waiting for the Box we asked for the Box because we wanted to leave then. The table beside us who left when we came in was not bust until we left even though someone had came over and left a rag on the table. It's not even like the place was busy at all I could only imagine how service is if they were busy. Only thing I am happy about is that they did not charge me for the replacement meat for my gross grizzly chicken fried steak. There's a reason for the low rating on yelp. Covid has effected a variety of aspects in the restaurant world but it is clearly evident here. The food took over 50 minutes to be brought out after ordering. My family has always loved Bob Evans. This particular store is awful. The hosts stand back in the far corner of the restaurant with their backs to the register and the waiting customers. When they do walk over they are rude, won't make eye contact and annoyed. It's such a shame. read more

The waitress was very friendly and attentive to the needs of our party. All members of our party enjoyed their food. The banana bread and lemonade bread are delicious. The gravy and biscuits are good. The crepe was good. The meats were also delicious. So we just enjoyed a meal at Bob Evans and the food was as always hot and fresh. Our waitress Alexia couldn't have been more accommodating, she was lovely and made every effort to please . HUGE bone to pick with Bob Evans and it may be a deal breaker. Alexia informed us they will no longer be serving French dressing. WHAT!?!?! Lunch today was way below average. My smokehouse bacon cheeseburger was nasty. The patty tasted like it was microwaved. Our server never returned after dropping off our food so i had to flag down one of the multiple managers that where standing around joking and cutting up with the staff instead of waiting on the customers.
