When we first started planning our day trip to Buffalo, we knew we wanted to make a beeline directly for Bob Evans. And given that we were going to arrive in the morning, I assumed I'd be ordering something breakfast-adjacent. However, we were handed full menus when we sat down, so I was basically forced to order the same thing I always get at Bob Evans: the Double Cheese Pot Roast Dip ("Our signature slow-roasted pot roast, caramelized onions, melted American cheese and real provolone cheese on grilled sourdough bread served with homestyle beef gravy for dipping"). It arrived a little while later and was as incredible and delicious as ever. I just love everything about this sandwich, from the plentiful, ultra tender beef to the ooey gooey cheese to the perfectly grilled exterior. And the whole thing is enhanced by the excellent gravy that's included. The fries are great, too. It's an enormous sandwich, so I didn't think I'd order anything else, but I couldn't resist the call of the Cup of Sausage Gravy & Biscuits ("A cup of Bob Evans sausage gravy served with freshly-baked biscuits"). I regret nothing because it was exquisite. It's so heavy but just so, so good. Thank god there isn't a Bob Evans near me because I'd be dead now from ordering that dish way too often. We stay nearby and usually walk down to pick up our meal. In the past I've got the turkey dinner which has always been outstanding. This time I opted for the smaller turkey sandwich. It was just ok as pretty basic, I wanted a turkey club but ordered a standard sandwich. Next time I'm going back to the turkey dinner. my fault on ordering. Usually we don't have any problems here but today was just horrible. We waited 40 minutes for our food. I ordered their turkey sandwich with fries and cole slaw and no pickles. When the food finally came out, there were no fries, there were pickles on the sandwich and it was missing cheese, tomatoes, mayo and bacon. Just a couple slices of turkey and lettuce with a tiny amount of onion on bread. They then brought out a side of fries but they were cold. With two of us on a senior budget we like to take advantage of places offering a senior citizen discount these days. After googling Bob Evans and seeing that they offer a 10% discount, we decided to visit the Bob Evans at 6543 Niagara Falls Blvd, Niagara Falls in the early evening hours. We were greeted at the door within a few minutes and seated. The waitress was attentive and she took our order after a few minutes and delivered our food to us within a timely manner. The food was good and we enjoyed our meals. When we were through we were given our bill and headed to the cashier. My husband asked for the senior citizen discount that is clearly advertised on Google and he was informed they do not offer one. My husband advised the cashier that it is clearly stated on Google that Bob Evans offers one along with smaller portion meals for seniors. Again, he was denied the discount. My husband paid the bill and we left, probably never to return again. We feel that Bob Evans is supposed to be "for" the American hard working family but instead we were bamboozled by their company. We had come here on a Saturday afternoon at around 1:30 pm. I had settled on the honey chicken with macaroni and cheese on the side, along with the mashed potatoes and gravy. The food itself was delicious however, the portion sizes were much too large for one sitting. The restaurant itself was large, with ample seating, and a relaxing environment. This seems to be a popular place, conveniently located within 300 feet from our hotel. We had just arrived to town and it was breakfast time, perfect place for some comfort food. We came across this place because it was the first exit near Niagara Falls. We came on a Saturday and Sunday around 11am, and it was pretty busy and packed. Many of the locals come to this place for breakfast due to the affordable prices and decent breakfast served. Ambience 4/5 inside decoration was nice, and you can tell that the business is family owned and driven. Service 3.5/5 This place was a little chaotic. But there was an organization to the chaos. Every waiter had her own section, and the waiter was also the person who brought our food from the kitchen. Which is a lot in my opinion, because every time we wanted something such as syrup, or more coffee, or anything. We would have to wait long periods of time before we would see our waiter. Also, our waiter Saturday morning messed up our order, and brought the incorrect omelet. Thankfully she fixed it even though it took another 10mins for the food to come out. Food 2/5 On Sunday, we found about three black hairs in our eggs, and omelets. It was absolutely disappointing and vile. We showed our waiter and was kind enough to ask if we wanted our order to be remade. We simply decided not to eat it or order anything else, in fear of more hair being found in our food. The French toast was delicious, light and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Just eight. For the eggs we asked for an over medium but it was over cooked and dry. We arrived after a short walk from our hotel to Bob Evans early Sunday afternoon in search of some decent breakfast, and some caffeine for my dreadful hangover. Upon arrival, we were greeted kindly, and given a 5-10 minute wait. Not soon after, we were escorted to our table and quickly were provided our drinks. I opted for the Homestead Breakfast with shredded hash brown, over easy eggs, sausage patties, white toast, and a bowl of sausage gravy. After a somewhat lengthy wait, and several cups of coffee later, our food arrived. I must admit the wait was worth it, as our food was overall satisfying. The eggs were cooked a perfect over easy, the sausage tasty, hash browns crisp, and the toast crunchy: your average Bob Evans breakfast. My only real compliant was having to wait relatively long periods of time to get our food, the bill, a box, and whatever else. We were on a small anniversary trip after all, and we didn't want to use an hour and a half of our limited time sitting idly at a Bob Evans table. All in all, if your staying at Americans Best Value Inn, or similar nearby, and are looking for a relatively cheap place to get some decent food, look no further than Bob Evans of south Niagara Falls NY. We head down to the US a few times per year to overspend at Target. This last trip, we stopped into Bob Evans. An old favourite from my childhood. I don't go for gourmet meals. I know full well what I am in for. But I never leave upset with the flavours. On a fairly unremarkable Saturday, it seemed very busy and the wait was quite substantial. Turns out it was a travelling hockey team being an absolute menace to staff and other patrons alike. Blocking thoroughfares and leaving the place a mess. I was embarrassed for them. However, the Bob Evans staff were so incredibly gracious and patient. They did not show for 1 second that they were frustrated by the nuisance. Once we were seated, we were helped by the kindest server, Tamera. She was great in every way. My iced tea was never empty and she helped me decide between a few options. Heck, she even talked me into snagging some soup, a half dozen rolls and pie to go. I am still day dreaming about the sausage gravy, something we do not have here in Canada. Such a tragedy. I drive limo coach. I had a girl last night with her birthday boyfriend and family/friends on board. She contacted Bob Evans on the boulevard 2 times to make sure she was set with her 20 people reservation. When we arrived, they knew nothing about it. It not only took over an hour to get "some" of the meals but they actually gave one of the meals to someone else that wasn't in their group. I called from my limo coach and ordered a quick egg, bacon, and pancake. Over $12. Now, usually, if a driver brings that size group to a restaurant, they buy them a meal or at least a coffee.
