We're visiting the area and came here because of the great reviews but we're very disappointed. We were told to pick a table to sit, then a girl asked us what we wanted to drink and brought us what we ordered, that was all fine. Then we waited for almost 15 minutes for someone to come over and take our order for food. When the server finally came over she wasn't even pleasant, just started with "do you know what you want to order?" We both ordered omelets with hash browns, then asked for the special which was apple crumble French toast, there was a sign on the table that my boyfriend pointed to when he said it. The server said "I think I have one piece left, let me bring that over right away" and then walked away and came back with a piece of cold apple pie, dropped it on the table and walked away immediately before anything could be said. At this point we were already annoyed with the lack of service, and then the server clearly didn't listen to what we actually ordered so we just waited for our omelets and ate the cold, hard apple pie. As soon as our omelets arrived we asked for the check so we could eat and leave. We're really unsure why we were treated that way, especially because of all the great reviews this place had. We even heard the same server being much more pleasant to everyone around us. If it's because we're "tourists" that just doesn't seem right. read more

The second breakfast (Day 2, Meal 1) on our Western New York family vacation was Toast & Roast Café. Arriving at 7:50am on a Tuesday, we got a table without delay and placed drink orders of two waters and three coffees. The menu being quite straightforward, we ordered when our very pregnant waitress returned with our drinks: a meat lovers' burrito, the 2 eggs / home fries / meat / toast plate, and three orders of the berries and cream French toast. Before tax, tip, and their 4% surcharge for credit/debit sales, our bill totaled $40.49, which felt reasonable. Interestingly, we were not charged for the coffees. We had no clue if that was policy, or if it was because we complained about the coffee being bad. Our waitress just shrugged and said she never touches the stuff. From the way it tasted here, we understood why! Décor in the restaurant was generically inoffensive, but with a bit less café kitsch than the typical place. Our food arrived after an average wait, and while everyone agreed their breakfast selections were good, no one felt it was great. While I liked my berries and cream French toast, and felt it had a good flavour, it was not terribly filling. The service was also decidedly average, but I left our waitress a $10 tip (22.8%), kinda because I felt bad that she was on her feet all day while being super pregnant. PROS: reasonable prices, they did not charge us for the bad coffee CONS: bad coffee, portion sizes were not especially filling, 4% fee on credit cards As restaurants go, we felt that Toast & Roast Café was Pretty Average. Nothing bad about it, but also nothing fantastic ... just average, which is perfectly fine. read more

Food was good! But they are **NOT** enforcing social distancing AT ALL! All tables and booths filled, NO dividers between booths , tables are NOT spread out (again, no social distancing) I wasn't going to post a review, but the thing that pushed it over the edge was when the had TWO SEPARATE parties at one table with only one chair separating the parties The customers here don't seem to mind (and they all seemed to be of the same mindset); but as a healthcare worker, it's very uncomfortable to see them not following protocols. I feel bad for throwing them under the bus, and I waited for a few hours to post this, to think it over, but I had to: we are a year in to this pandemic, and social distancing guidelines are not new. There is no reason to NOT be acting safely. If I and the other member of my party weren't vaccinated, I don't think we would have eaten there. #SorryNotSorry read more

I seen this cafes post on Facebook and I figured I would give them a try. My family and I came for lunch today. The only complaint I have is that the fries tasted like they were cooked in old oil perhaps, and there were no salt on them. I understand there is a salt shaker on the table but it's not the same when coming out of the frier....my kids enjoyed their sandwiches as well. The Mac and cheese wasn't very creamy and the noodles were a little hard BUT I appreciate the bread crumb topping on it! Nice touch! read more

We've hit this place a few times on a Sunday after church for lunch and couldn't ask for more of the service and the food. At that time of day they are serving breakfast and lunch. We've tried both and they're both excellent, more than your moneys worth. The service is top notch, quick and easy. Highly recommended. read more

If I could give this diner 100 stars, that wouldn't be enough. We started going here about two years ago. It's now an, "at least once per week stop"! They serve both breakfast and lunch. We usually go for breakfast. I always get the corned beef hash (well done), two poached eggs, and Italian toast. It's great every single time! The kiddos love their pancakes. A bill for a family of four will run you around $30.00. The service staff is very prompt, friendly, and they all work together. The working together part is great, because you get to know everyone. The diner is very small, maybe 15 tables and a counter. It's always busy. If you have to wait, it's never more than 15 minutes or so. read more

I went here last Sunday with my dad and sister for lunch. It was the first time I had visited this restaurant. I had the BBQ chicken finger basket with fries. The menu said it included only 4 chicken fingers, but I received 6, which was a pleasant surprise. Very nice atmosphere and ambiance. read more

Went here this morning for breakfast. This is my 3rd time at this restaurant. It is a nice place for breakfast or lunch. That is all this restaurant is open for is (breakfast and lunch) but that's okay because they do it well. The food has been consistently good. I had a breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese and sausage and home fries. It is normally on their daily special menu for $5. The service has been very nice here. My girlfriend and I are from Philly, and we're visiting Niagara Falls. A good morning breakfast is key for us when travelling. Places like Cracker Barrel and Bob Evans get tiresome, and we prefer trying local spots which can sometimes be a dice roll. We chose Toast and Roast cafe and were extremely pleased. Even though they were busy when we ate breakfast, the staff were both attentive and welcoming to us non-locals, checking on us several times & refilling our coffee and H20. There were several interesting specials on their board, but we went with standard breakfast combos. Everything was on point and I liked the home fries a lot. Bacon was perfectly cooked. Portion size was generous. There is a case in the front with some amazing looking homemade pies we couldn't resist. After breakfast, our server quickly packed a slice of banana cream pie and some drinks for us in to-go cups at our request. The pie was really, really good. We would definitely come back if in the area again. read more

Fantastic breakfast! We are breakfast "connoisseurs" & will definitely add this to our regular list!! My over easy eggs were crispy around the edge - something I love and have never had at any restaurant. The Italian toast is dense like homemade bread, excellent! Disappointed. Ordered a sausage egg & cheese breakfast sandwich which you would think like most places it would come with a sausage patty. Instead it came with 2 small lousy sausage links on a big roll. 1/4 of the sandwich was egg and cheese. read more

Very disappointed with our experience, we came in for Father's Day breakfast and were pleasantly surprised with a free meal for Dad however the service was not as pleasant. Our meals took an hour to come to the table and then arrived both over cooked and cold, one meal was completely forgotten about and then when it did arrive it was brought to the wrong table before it made it to ours. Our server Marlene did not bother to check on us not one single time during our visit. There was only one worker who seemed to be doing her job but I didn't get her name to give her the kudos she deserves. The rest of the servers spent their time drinking coffee and ignoring the costumers. I work in the service industry myself as a server for another restaurant so I know that this kind of behavior warrants at the very least an apology but we didn't even receive that. Breakfast is my Dads favorite meal and I'm just sad we couldn't give him a good Father's Day morning. read more
