I've been coming to Bob Evans across the Michiana area since I was a little boy. I've been to this Bob Evans on 3 different occasions in the past 3 months and I've gotten the same results. They seem under staffed as My friends or family and I always get seated at our table and end up waiting to order for 15 to 30 minutes. And when I say this I mean there is fewer than 6 tables in the entire restaurant. And when the food comes out, it tastes like it's been under a heat lamp for a good chunk of time. For the first time, today, I couldn't even eat the French toast. If you can take the time. Go to the next Bob Evans on Grape road. I promise it's worth the trip. read more

Terrible service. Walked in and was seated by hostess/waitress who didn't bother to offer us a beverage as we have found customary at our regular Bob Evans. After staring at us for 10 minutes while gossiping with the waitress who seated us, the manager finally came over and apologized for the delay as "our" waitress was busy with a large party and again failed to offer us coffee or anything else for that matter. ( besides the large party, we were one of only 2 other tables occupied). After 20 minutes our waitress finally came by, apologized, got us coffee, our order came out quickly, 100% wrong. Patty instead of the requested link sausage and eggs prepared wrong, sausage when bacon was ordered......in an attempt to rectify the matter an order of bacon was brought out in a pool of so much grease it was scary. It's obvious nobody that works here gives a damn. read more

Boyfriend and family and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this location. Breakfast was not busy, service was attentive, food was good, so no real complaints other than the restaurant was FREEZING even though it was some 90-something degrees outside, and the staff said they would try to turn down the air, but the situation never really changed. One of the only places I know that serves fried cornmeal, which my dad would make for me when I was a kid. So I love it. And the biscuits and gravy are a real star. read more

Complete incompetence with Thanksgiving carryout orders! We ordered and PAID 2 weeks prior. I arrived at our 5pm pickup time to find out that they were 2 hours behind & I was asked to come back in a couple hours. I arrived back at 7pm and waited ANOTHER 1.5 hours! THIS was 3.5 hours after my pickup time. To top it off, they were not even filling the orders by YOUR PICK UP TIME! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The manager should be terminated. Dozens of people with times well after mine had their orders filled! Even worse, orders were also filled for people who WERE NOT there, while I was already 3 hours past my pickup time and I was standing right there! Those orders just sat and sat, unrefrigerated. I lost my mind at that point. There was only 2 other people waiting by the time I was served! NEVER AGAIN. Order from Das Essenhaus from now on! They should have NEVER taken more orders than they could fill ON TIME! Disgraceful. Corporate will be hearing from me on Monday! read more

My wife absolutely loves this place. She has poor taste I think. After all, she married me. What I love about Robert Evan's atmosphere most is how relaxed and laid back it is. When you come here, the day sort of melts away. There is absolutely no rush here. Place your order, take a nap, read a book, and maybe order some lunch. After all, it will be hours before your food arrives. At least when your food gets to the table, it is a bit dry from being under the heat lamps so long. At least the cost is comparable with a much nicer restaurant. read more

When I asked Siri to find Bob Evans in South Bend, she gave me directions, but warned me that Yelp only gave it 2 1/2 stars. Nothing could have been further from the truth for my breakfast. Service was fast and friendly and my. Breakfast was exactly the way I ordered it. Even the toast was hot. You've probably eaten your share of cold toast and understand why this is of particular note. For some reason this Bob Evans isn't as good as it used to be. Went for lunch and it was a normal crowd. Our server had "Certified Trainer" on her name tag. I thought "great"! Took longer than normal to get our drinks. And then we waited, and waited, and waited. No refills, no bread, nothing. Then finally our order arrived. My Wildifire chicken salad was good, just like in the past. Somebody ordered home fries and they were way over cooked. An order of salmon was also overlooked and very dry. The Bob Evans on #933 (31), in Roseland is one of our homes away from home. We have been eating there since the 1970's. Admittedly, there have been ups and downs through the years, but we believe the present management is the best ever, and the food and service show it. If you are reading old comments from years gone by, please realize that any problems mentioned happened several years ago, and give it another try. The present managers and staff are hard-working and friendly. If we do have slow service, or the waitress forgot to bring the lemon I requested for my water, I ask the nearest server, and someone brings it right away. The food selections are amazing, and my husband especially recommends the pot roast, the chicken pot pie and the hamburgers! I like to have the "soup and salad" lunch, which is the best low-priced lunch in town, believe me! It also includes a choice of biscuits, banana-nut bread or cinnamon coffeecake "bread", with butter. I won't tell you the price; look it up! I also love their deli-style turkey sandwich. It can feel a bit chilly when you first sit down, because multiple fans are running. I wear a sweater over my shoulders, and soon take it off. Give this Bob Evans another try, and then tell me where you can get something better for the price. read more

Good, friendly service and reasonably-priced food. Nothing too fancy but plenty of options. Soup and sandwich combo is a good deal- the chicken noodle was a little chunky for my taste and the turkey bacon melt was simple and good. The coffee is great, I think I had like 3 cups. My boyfriend and I had a gift card to Bob Evans on grape road walked in sat down a friend of ours works there absolute fabulous great way to waitress Christina she took very good care of us she was getting off of work and set us up with one of her friends who was also waitress that she trained after we ordered our food we sat there for 25 minutes before we got our order I also told the lady that we needed to get a to go order I said we better order it now otherwise we're never going to get it she ordered the food we eat Our food and the to go order was still not ready and all I ordered was the mashed potatoes and a piece of chicken breast for my mother who is in a nursing home to take her dinner also ordered a biscuit with butter never got that so we got up to pay the bill and our order to go is still not ready after about 45 minutes so if you were looking for a good place to go eat breakfast to get in and get out do not go to Bob Evans on grape road awful awful awful read more

The service was a little slow and understaffed but you can't really control waitresses calling off. We had a few issues with our order but we were extremely well taken care of once the issues were brought to our servers attention. Had an omelet. it was pretty good, generous amount of bacon . Waitress was good. Got the american potatoes, which I thought for some reason were planks, y;know, rectangular, like steak fries or something. What they are is in fact little cubed potato bits, and even though I had ordered them well done, they were still a bit raw in the middle. I did not like the cubed potato thing so I asked for hash browns instead, well done. They brought me the hash browns, but they should have called them smashed browns, as they were compressed as flat as paper.Is that normal? Beware, don't order using the take-out service. Their process is not well managed. Either short staffed, or just miss-manged..Took them 40 minutes to complete an order of the family turkey dinner. Sat down for breakfast with my family on Labor Day and was greeted with terrible service. Took our waitress 15 minutes to take our order, then another 40 minutes to get our food. Almost fell asleep at the table because the wait was so long. Waitress was also very rude, not once smiling or apologizing for the wait.
