And for all those years, my wife kept saying, "We really should try Sam & Ethel's." Somehow, this was the first time we finally made it happen--and I'm glad we did. We came in for breakfast the day before heading back home. We arrived around 9 a.m., and here's a tip for first‑timers: call ahead to get on the waitlist. You don't need to be present, and it can save you a little time. We thought we were next, but another couple who had called ahead slipped in before us. It felt a bit unfair in the moment, but honestly, good for them--they used the system the way it's meant to be used. Once seated, everything that followed was exactly what a classic hometown breakfast spot should deliver. The menu is full of comforting options--silver dollar or plate‑size pancakes, buckwheat or regular, with or without pecans, all served with hot syrup. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully made. I ordered the BELT (Bacon, Egg, Lettuce, Tomato) sandwich, which was excellent. They asked if I wanted cheese and offered several options; I chose cheddar, though it didn't end up on the sandwich. Honestly, it was still great without it. I also tried a silver dollar buckwheat pancake with pecans, and it was fantastic--nutty, warm, and just the right amount of indulgent. The coffee was a little weak for my taste, but that was the only small miss. I also sampled some of my wife's breakfast burrito and my mother‑in‑law's toast and hash browns. The hash browns were especially memorable--you could really taste the potatoes, thicker and less fried than what you'd find at a Waffle House. The buttered toast was excellent too, simple but done perfectly. And I have to mention our host, who delivered one of the funniest, most unexpected lines of the morning. She walked up and said, "Can I hit anyone up..." then paused just long enough for me to wonder what was coming next, before finishing with, "...with coffee." I was briefly alarmed, then immediately reassured--and I couldn't help but laugh. It was such a genuine, human moment that added to the charm of the place. Everyone at our table enjoyed their breakfast, and the wait--especially for a Saturday morning--was surprisingly reasonable. My father‑in‑law picked up the check, which was a thoughtful way to end a really pleasant meal. After a decade of visiting Tipp City, I'm glad we finally made it to Sam & Ethel's. It's easy to see why it's a local favorite, and it's definitely earned a spot on our regular rotation from now on.

Took a while to get a table, get the table cleaned off and get a menu due to being under staffed. Once the waitress came to our table everything was wonderful. Very kind, helpful, knowledgeable server. Our food came out quickly and perfectly. We both ordered the skillet. It was incredible. One of the best breakfast dishes I've had in a long time. Well prepared, delicious ingredients to make an incredibly delightful dish. The breakfast skillet was so good. The hashbrowns were perfectly cooked. The sausage gravy was flavorful and delicious. The bacon was crisp and was the perfect flavor addition. My eggs were cooked perfectly (I asked for basted-they were perfect!) Everything was incredible. The biscuits were so good. A little underdone but perhaps the was on purpose? They were really good. My son added pancakes to his order. They looked a little overly done, but tasted good. Portion size was huge. Ambiance was very mom and pop shop---very close quarters. Only one small restroom. Great restaurant with excellent food!!! Just know what you're getting into. Probably not very handicapped accessible due to stairs and small restroom and tight quarters, but delicious food with kind waitstaff. Go for the food, not the ambience.

The atmosphere was charming, the décor was exactly what we were hoping for, and the menu felt genuinely true to British cuisine rather than a themed interpretation. Unfortunately, our visit took place on a colder day, and the large garage-style door connecting to the outdoor seating area was left open. As a result, the entire restaurant felt quite cold throughout our meal. Since we were dining with our infant son, this made it difficult to fully enjoy the experience and was our biggest disappointment of the evening. In fact, it was cold enough that we kept our coats on throughout dinner, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the atmosphere the restaurant had worked so hard to create. We also ordered the fish and chips. The quality of the fish was very good, and it was clearly prepared with care. However, the portion size left something to be desired. The meal included only one medium-sized piece of fish, which felt small for a dinner entrée, especially considering the price point. While the food itself was enjoyable, we were hoping for a more substantial serving. Despite these issues, The Last Queen delivered on atmosphere, authenticity, and food quality. I would be willing to give it another try, particularly during warmer weather, as I believe the temperature and comfort level had a significant impact on our overall experience.

Today's adventure brought us to Chef Danes first restaurant, a global comfort food diner called Culture. Culture is a pleasant, if a bit noisy at times, visceral experience of its namesake. The menu full of unique yet familiar dishes and ideas Invites one's culinary curiosity yet doesn't become unapproachable. On a different day I would have tried their Louisiana catfish, but today Patrick and I were on a mission. The specials were calling. Patrick and I have been trying to slowly become part of the Dayton community and Patrick's new job at Little Fish (a nearby bar and restaurant) has propelled us to dive further into our exploration. Patrick was made aware of Cultures new specials, a Thai cheesesteak and chicken tikka masala fries. We had to try them. So on this crisp and cold mid spring afternoon we decided to become cultured. First off we got the Chicken Tikka Masala Fries and we were quite impressed. I'm not the most familar with British Indian food (maybe a bit more than the average midwesterner but not by much) and the fries definitely brought a pleasant experience that Patrick an I enjoyed...but we didn't finish all of it at once. We saw a glimpse of what was to come and we didn't want to eat to fast and fill up to much. The picture I took does not do the Thai cheesesteak justice. It just had a certain presence coming off of the kitchen. We were sitting at the bar watching it all unfold for the most part and the smell was subtle yet hypnotizing. we finished maybe 3/5ths of the fries and waited for the sandwich. Once it got to use I cut it in half, Took as good of a pic as I could, Gave Patrick his half, And dug in. It might have been a bit too hot resulting in me burning my tongue but the flavor was encompassing. I could taste all the elements coming together in such a unique groove. Could be chalked up to just a damn good cheesesteak, they tend to illicit similar responses, but still. The first words out of my mouth after finishing that first bite were "holy shit". I then maybe finished the sandwich a bit fast but I couldn't help my self, i had to have it. It was so damn good. Well worth trying while they have it. To say anymore would spoil the experience. Anyway, I've rambled enough. I encourage you try Culture for yourself! Thank you. Drew, from Dayton

Its sleek lines and modern structure stand out among the modest buildings that surround it. Every inch of its interior and exterior are detailed in lavish sophistication. We stayed in the Spa Suite- a beautiful, spacious room with a deep soaking tub perfect for relaxing. Snacks, drinks and card games are within easy reach, tempting you from their station on the oversized desk (for a charge, of course). We skipped slipping into our robes and ordering room service and went down to the hotel bar instead. The bar offers a number of handcrafted cocktails, I was so conflicted about which to order that I told the bartender I would just go down the list- and she happily obliged. Dinner hadn't quite started yet so we ordered food from a limited lunch menu and made friends with the bar patrons. After all, it's still a small town and everyone around is incredibly friendly. Unfortunately, due to my overly enthusiastic cocktail buffet, I didn't make it to dinner. Luckily, I had a gorgeous room to stumble back to, and when I woke up, the minibar snacks and drinks truly saved my night. I absolutely think you get great value for the price of a stay here. You get the sophistication of a luxury hotel without the steep price and pretentiousness that you'd find at a similar hotel in a bigger city. I can't wait to return!

Prior to the funeral we were hungry and decided to go to Studebaker's. It was like stepping back in time. There were several elderly gentleman there having coffee and eating breakfast. By their banter with each other and the friendly waitresses, you could tell they were there every morning to tease each other and the waitresses. The menu and decor were old school. No mimosas or bloody Mary's here. Good strong hot coffee ( my husband said it was the best coffee he's had in years), Pepsi products, chocolate milk, Tea ("Ya want yours sweet, Honey?") and an old timey food menu your Grandma would have been proud to serve you. The menu was extensive but I choose the Swiss Steak hot shot. It was so delicious that I ate every single bite which is unusual for me. My husband got the fried Bologna Sandwich and fries.
