Beware of Bob Larson Plumbing. The treatment parent elderly parents received is essentially predatory abuse of seniors. Unfortunately my parents called this company on her own to simply replace her Gas Water Heater. They have some clear cognitive issues. The sales person from Bob's charged $7,779.14 for a tank that costs roughly $800 at Home Depot. I called several other companies to quote us on the same Rheem Tank and all quoted between $2,700 and $3,200 for the same unit fully installed. The invoice they provided me was not itemized and transparent. When I spoke with the manager there, Micah, I was told that they don't offer itemized receipts. When I questioned Micah with the fact that the seniors had clear cognitive issues I was told "Someone should have been with them then." This company is unethical to say the least. I'm confused. The most important aspect a hot water heater maintenance is replacing the anode rod yearly... it is crucial to the wellbeing of the unit... it's the difference in the unit rusting out in 10 years or lasting 20. So it is a bit of a pain to perform but doable. Bob Larson offered me an annual maintenance plan for $128 where they come out once a year to look at the hot water heater. I asked about the anode rod but it is not part of the plan; the one thing, the only thing you need to do annually and their annual plan doesn't even address it! It's like hiring a lawn care company that comes out and looks at your grass. "Yep, you got grass!" And then leaving without mowing. What do they for $128, they must just look at your water heater because there is nothing else to. What am I missing? read more

Charged almost $600 for a clogged bath tub. He literally went to Home Depot and got a $7 drain cleaner thing. Serious waste of money. Was talked into buying the membership for $143. I had a backup in the drains for my bathtubs. I called these guys, they said I had roots from the trees growing into my sewer pipes. I was charged 16K to fix this. I wanted them to record the cleaning of the pipes for verification that the pipes are clean. They said don't have capability for recording. Spent 16K and still don't know if this is fixed. After one month the same problem happened again. Not happy with these guys at all. I called other companies to get quotes to fix this and was quoted 7k to replace all of the pipes. Spent 16k no camera to record the cleaning and problem still there. NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. read more

Chris came over this morning because our sink disposal wasn't working -- less than 24 hours after we called. He was very fast, professional, and incredibly helpful. When he said the disposal needed to be replaced my husband mentioned that we actually had an extra identical one in our garage. My husband recently tore his ACL and can't walk, so Chris even went down into our garage to get it for my husband because I wasn't home yet. He was great! And he cleaned everything up and put everything back under the sink which I didn't expect at all, but we are very thankful for. We use Bob Larson plumbing for everything both at our home and other property. Insanely expensive. I explained what the problem was and they insisted it was a different cause and charged over $1500. Guess what? That didn't fix the problem. They then came back out and did what I originally asked them to do for an added $800 and it fixed the problem. Highly advise finding a different plumber. I had flushed accidentally flushed a niccotine vape down the toilet in the middle of the night, Ben from bob larson gave me a proposed invoice for $1,299 to remove the toilet and try to get it out. I got a second quote from another company for under $300 before taxes, took them around an hour to do it. Not to mention the fact that he tried to get me to purchase additional services to install a sewer cleanout, despite having one already in the crawlspace. Real fear mongering from Ben explaining how I needed the cleanout installed, and needed to install fiberglass interior on the existing pipes or I would have "catastrophic" sewer pipe damage that would cost me $50,000. The tenant in our rental house said the kitchen sink wasn't working properly. I did a quick check for reviews and saw several recommending Bob Larson Plumbing. I should have checked Yelp first. I called and they were able to send someone out the next day. I got a call from the technician saying that he had checked the problem as well as the plumbing for the house and quoted me three prices: $8k to replace a bunch of stuff that wasn't broken, $1500 to replace the sink faucet and shutoff valves, and $650 to replace the faucet with a customer supplied faucet. I found all of these to be outrageous. I went over myself, unscrewed the faucet head, cleaned out the crap that was blocking the flow of water, screwed it back together and everything worked fine. What this means to me is that they wanted $650 to replace a faucet that wasn't broken in the first place. If you are considering doing business with these guys, get a few other quotes first. Better yet, watch a youtube video or two and do it yourself. read more

Purchased a new tankless hot water heater in 22. Expensive, but they did the job and we like the heater. In August 23, it throws an error code. Water heater parts still under warranty but labor isn't, and they want $380 just to come look at it because "tankless water heaters need specialized parts." Do they realize that people don't believe those BS lines? Basically we "turned it on and off again" after a quick internet search. Works again. Probably a storm in the area caused an electrical surge that made it throw the code. Although I was initially satisfied with my purchase, this crooked way of doing business means I will never deal with them again. I'm posting this under a pseudonym bc if I need parts, I'll have to deal with them until the warranty is up. read more

UPDATE 12/1/21: Ownership did not reply to my inquiry for replacing the cabinet that they damaged, will have to go to small claims court next. I've used this company for several larger projects that went fairly well, but our last visit in September ended with a lot of damage to our kitchen cabinet. We completely remodeled the kitchen with brand new kitchen cabinets and needed the final hookup to the kitchen sink. Like everyone else, there were Covid-related delays in getting to us. I'm fine with that, but they sent out a plumber on a Saturday who clearly didn't want to be there. We had offered to measure and drill the holes, but he told us, "Not right now". He came in later, misaligned the cabinet (not centered to the window), and started drilling holes. All of them were wrong. After blaming the house (it's old), and the cabinet installers (us), he told us to cover up the extra holes he drilled with stuff from the hardware store. Because the house is old, we shouldn't care about his extra holes. These were brand-new kitchen cabinets, new plumbing and sewage that they had installed earlier this year, new floors, new insulation, and new walls. Everything except the studs was brand new. I emailed the company to ask for reimbursement of the cabinet (about $280), and one person offered to forward it to ownership, but so far I have not received a reply. read more

When I started writing this review I thought it would be to talk about why you shouldn't use Bob Larson Plumbing but boy have they changed my mind. When Chris left today I felt confident in his work, and secure in my choice to use Bob Larson Plumbing should I ever need a plumber in the future. Last year we had them out to fix a water leak that ended in some serious remediation. The outside hose spigot was replaced as a part of that work and this year when we pulled out the sprinklers and hoses for the first time, we realized there was a leak from the joint in the spigot. At first, I was frustrated that their work had failed so soon and called to have someone out ASAP. Today, they did call the wrong person, but once they realized their mistake they made sure to send the '10 minutes out' text to my phone. It included a picture and full name of the technician which was a really great touch, especially when I'm used to being alone for workers to come over. Chris came in, offered to wear booties, was beyond professional and kind, and got to work investigating the leak. Less than 10 minutes later he had identified that it was an easy fix. The joint just hadn't been tightened properly and explained how it works and showed how he adjusted it to resolve the leak. He made sure I didn't need any other assistance and thanked me for using Bob Larson Plumbing. The service and kindness I received is unparalleled in the industry and you've earned yourself a lifeline customer. read more

I was told by another plumber that didn't have the necessary equipment (but as he couldn't do the work, he had no reason to be dishonest) that I should have expected $300-$350 for the entire job. With a 5% senior discount, a partial repair came to $485. They were here around 1 hour. I did agree to the price, though I was a bit shocked. The extra charge was for a clogged sink in the same room. Good: Nice Guys who seemed knowledgeable Arrived On Time Wore masks at my request Showed me clearly what the charges would be before starting work. 5% senior discount Offered aprox $175 discount if I had them replace the toilet today. Not as good: Price Neither problem is totally fixed: The sink still has a bit of water at the bottom of the drain, & all they were able to do on the toilet with a snake was clear it out to the point where is drains if I shut off the water. They wanted $400 (+ me buying the new toilet in addition to their $400 rate) to $800 to replace or repair the toilet. The toilet is no longer disgusting, but it is basically useless. Fortunately, I have 2. They charged $134 for about 10 minutes labor on the sink. read more

A rep came and visited my home to make an eval of what would be needed. I asked why a water sample eval was needed since we are on city of puyallup water....and they must have run many tests on this water system. His reply was that there may be issues within my houses piping which would reveal an issue/concern. BUT the water within the house would be AFTER the filter they would install !!! they came in with a Whole House system for over $9500 plus tax. Basic system would have been $4650 plus tax. This is a total rip off price. I will never call them for any plumbing needs. I have friends in Phoenix who had systems installed and in both cases it was about $2000. read more

Found this place because I was searching for a company that was certified to work on Ruud hot water heaters. Hoped it would be an easy fix, but we discovered leaking on backside that required total replacement. Yeah price was a lot, but quality was good, work was fast (they came next day, had it done in like 2 hours) with everything up to code and cleaned up by the time they walked out the door. Would habe left an abandoned duct ja ginger, and forgot to turn the e ternary circulation valve on. Took me an hour to figure out rhere was a manual valve in addition to the program setting. This is not totally a review. Summary: Just call for help before doing it yourself. They have done work for us before, and we are quite happy with what they did. My wife wanted a new bathroom faucet, so I decided to put it in myself. How hard can it be? Just turn off the water, disconnect the water supply lines, and take out the two nuts holding the faucet. I did this before, about 30 years ago. Am in my 60s now, and don't bend easily. There I am under the sink, banging my head and shoulders. First issue, the shut off valve didn't want to shut off. Got the water off. Got the old faucet off, new faucet in. Connected the supply lines, turned on the water and got sprayed. Turns out the old supply lines about 1/4" too short (connection on new faucet shorter than on old faucet). Shut off valve started leaking - but only when turned off. Called Bob Larson plumbing, they came out and replaced the shut off valve (probably the one that was there in 1955 when this house was built) and supply lines. Why didn't just have them do it in the first place? read more

They made the appointment said someone would call me about fee being waved. no one called. I came home from vacation for this appointment...... then morning if they inform me they will be charging me $60. But as random as it was he responded to an OfferUp ad I had posted for some free kitchen cabinets; the catch was that he had to take them off the wall himself. So just coming over to take a look he admitted that they're good looking cabinets and I should keep them, which that I will now that someone told me. On top of that he recommended another lady whom I'm already in contact with about working some better numbers with the insurance company! What a great human-being to have met just at the right time.
