Warning - this place is cash only even though they have a machine that looks like it accepts credit card. It's surprising for a boba shop that has a rather modern menu as well. I got the popcorn chicken, which was okay. The batter wasn't as crispy as some other places like Quickly, but they give you a pretty large bag for $5.50. There's a pretty extensive menu of drinks including the milk tea grand opening special for $1.99. I've been a regular at Boba Ninja for about a year now, so I'm really excited to finally review this place! Despite a plethora of boba shops in Berkeley, Boba Ninja has a special place in my heart. Sure, their drinks aren't on par to places like UCha and Sharetea, but they're solid quality for the price and always satisfy my late night boba/snack cravings. Ambience: A tiny hole in the wall, nested in Berkeley's infamous Asian Ghetto. Service: Owners are chill and friendly! I always feel very welcome here. Wait times for teas/milk teas are very fast, usually ~3 min. or less. Wait times for snacks are longer, usually ~5-10 minutes. Drinks: I usually get their milk teas, and my-go to is the Jasmine Milk Tea with boba. It's never too sweet which I appreciate, but also doesn't taste too watered down either. The boba is very consistent- soft and chewy. As for non-milk options, I usually opt for the Honey Green Tea with lychee jelly and it's light and refreshing! I've also had their slushes, but wasn't really a fan of them. Snacks: 2 WORDS: FRENCH FRIES. As a french fry fanatic, I highly recommend their fries. Piping hot, crispy, and deliciously salted, these are hands down my favorite fries in Berkeley! Call me crazy, but I honestly think they're even better than McD's. Boba Ninja replaced where Quickly's was in Asian Ghetto and I gotta say, it's a hit. Boba Ninja is open late, catering to the late night (drunchie) population of college students in Berkeley. Note that Boba Ninja, like many of the other restaurants in Asian Ghetto prefers not to take credit card but unlike many others, will still do for a small charge. My friends and I all got drinks from here and I have to say that the drinks are above average. Not exceptional compared to many of the other drink places in Berkeley but I am a fan of its late hours, the chewy boba and great prices. Definitely drop by if you're having late night boba cravings or want a thirst-quenching drink to go along with your late night food. This place has been amazing whenever I need a late night snack or dinner. I order the jasmine green milk tea w/ boba every time, so I can't really say how the other drinks are, but it's always pretty good. They're also surprisingly consistent w/ the taste and boba, and I can't really think of a time when I got a bad drink. Their snacks are also really good. Popcorn chicken is always a classic (though it is a little spicy). I've also had the chicken tenders a couple of times, and the potstickers and fried fish balls are also pretty decent. The prices were reasonable and the service was smooth and friendly. I liked that they took cash and credit - a lot of boba places only take cash.
