Myungrang Hot Dog is good for a late night snack. There is not really anything memorable about this place other than the fact that it is affordable and open later than many of the nearby businesses (11:30pm). The price range for a hotdog is around $5-7 depending on the options you select. I do like that they come with a side of sauce (and they have a ton of options!). I must say though, the cheese and sausages themselves were not particularly flavorful. I feel like the flavors and quality are not as up to par with other similar places. Even late at night, the service was really quick. Myungrang Hot Dog is nestled up in the Durant Food Court. Although there is no seating inside this particular place, there is a ton of seating and community vibes within the food court. This is a good place to curb those late-night cravings!

Must be ok with parallel parking unfortunately. Came on a Wednesday night around 9:30pm and parking was tough. Besides parking, This is a great location! It's surrounded by other places and the seating is mostly outside and it's large picnic like benches. So if you hang with friends, it's easy to get other things from other restaurants and still sit together to eat! I love the concept so much. 2 kiosk to order from. Super fast, maybe like 10 min till your order is ready depending on the line queue. I got the Crouton Hotdog ($6.49) and Taiyaki Pastry (2 pieces for $4.99). The price was unbeatable for a nice snacky meal that will still fill you up! Crouton Hotdog: really crunchy! I like this better than the potato. Has some kind of cheese sauce on top. I paired it with cheese mustard to dip and it was really good (its kinda like honey mustard) Taiyaki Pasty: Totally worth it. It comes out so hot and warm. I got Oreo and custard fillings. I really like the oreo one, it was just like chocolate. The custard was also really good but all the filling was on the bottom half :( I dont come to Berkeley often but if I do, I would come to this nook again just because there's many different food places here and hanging with friends who like different things would be perfect here. (Parking not so much tho ew)

They're participating in Berkeley Restaurant week right now and have a few different combos/specials running for this event. I got the buy 1 Hotdog + get 1 free Taiyaki special. Hotdog choice: half Mozzarella, half sausage coated in fried/diced potato. Taiyaki filling choice: custard. Normal prices for their Hotdogs run about $5 and up, while you can get 2 pieces of Taiyaki for $5 or 5 pieces for $10. I liked what I ordered. The fried/diced potato encrusted Hotdog was like eating a hotdog on-the-stick with French fries in 1 bite. Mozzarella had a really nice cheese pull. I chose the cheese and sriracha dipping sauces for this. Next time I'd ask them to drizzle it on top so there's less plastic waste with the sauce containers. The Taitaki pastry had a mochi dough/batter and I enjoyed the custard filling. I will try their Nutella and Oreo fillings next time. Located near UC Berkeley in a small enclave courtyard foodcourt on Durant Ave and Telegraph Ave, which has other Asian food and drink venues that are all quick/made to order with a few bench/patio or inside venue seats. Metered street parking outside.

When I was at UCLA, I used to go here a lot when I visited Sawtelle. It's definitely one of my favorites! Here at Berkeley, you can find it in the back of Asian Ghetto in Southside Berkeley. It's not too busy now that it's been a couple of months since it opened up. I got two corndogs: both of them were half sausage/half mozzarella. One of them had the potato on the outside while the other had hot cheetos. You can add sauce and a coating of sugar if you'd like. It's prepared pretty quickly! The Hot Cheeto Corndog will always be my favorite, but the Potato Corndog is always a solid option. I feel that both the sausage and mozzarella are necessary in the corndog, so I always get the half-and-half! There's a few seats inside, but you can find much more seating outside in the shared tables. It's also convenient that this place is on Snackpass, so you can order in advance! Will always be coming back!

Not bad but not too impressed. Potato dog hit the mark, but taiyaki was dry and skimped on the fillings. They are generous with the two sauces you get to select, but I prefer a self serve sauce station, like how Seoul Hotdog used to do it.

I've had Korean Hotdogs before and I loved it, so I was excited to try this place. There was no line when I went, so I got my food pretty fast. I ordered the Potato, Mozzarella and Sausage with sugar, a side of cheese mustard and ketchup. It was delicious! I loved the sugar coated fried potatoes around the hotdog. It was super crispy! The cheese was nicely melted to create a cheese pull. The staff were kind and the prices were reasonable! I'd definitely come back for another hotdog and to try the Tteokbokki and Taiyaki!

Welcome to Berkeley Myungrang Hotdog!!! Located in, what I believe is called, the Durant Food Court, Myungrang brings in another food option for whatever you may be craving that day! They're located towards the end of the outdoor food court. They do not have indoor seating but plenty of outdoor seating (if weather permits). To order, they have a kiosk or you can order through a human. Their menu is pretty simple and straightforward. They have 12 hotdog choices, Korean Tteokbokki (2 different spice levels), and Taiyaki (4 different fillings). Yelp Elite Dario O. and I decided to get numbers 1, 3, 8 and 11. Korean Tteokbokki "Rose" aka medium spice and one of each flavor for the Taiyaki. The Hotdogs are exactly what you'd hope and expect-- creamy on the inside, nicely crisp on the outside! They use an all beef sausage, too. They have an option for light, regular or no sugar coating and 6 different sauces. Out of all the sauces, their cheese mustard was my favorite. It paired so well which each hotdog!!! I chose light sugar which was, imo, a great idea because it didn't take away from tasting the batter but also added a nice sweetness. A little sweet and savory for your tastebuds! I'd never had Taiyaki with Cheddar filling which was pretty interesting. Oreo was definitely my most favorite! The Korean Tteokbokki "Rose" for sure had a kick to it! The rice cakes were soft and tender. They even add a few pieces of hotdog! They recommended to dip our Hotdog(s) in the Tteokbokki soup which was delicious! The creaminess and spice from the soup enhanced the texture and flavor of the hotdog! And you kind of don't taste that medium spice anymore lol When we got there, more people started to flood the restaurant with orders but they worked in a timely matter and prepared everyone's order accordingly. Overall, I have no doubt this spot is going to be a popular place in Berkeley! They have a great location with good amount of seating, prices are reasonable and the quality of the food is up there.

OMG, YUM! I didn't know this place existed. I was just hungry and randomly selected it while walking through the courtyard. I love hot dogs, so the name caught my attention. I quickly learned the name is slightly misleading. It's more like Hot Dog On a Stick. Yes, the one at the mall with the awesome lemonade, that makes you feel for the employees who are forced to wear the horrible uniform, silly hat, and jump up and down to make the batter. This place has batter that results in a super crunchy exterior, with a sprinkle of sugar (I requested light). All toppings you can ask on the hotdog or on the side. I expected on to mean IN the hotdog but it comes over it which made it unexpectedly so much better. Go to this place and experience the greatness. I'd be shocked if you felt differently.

Stopped by for lunch on a weekday and it wasn't too busy! This spot is tucked in the back of Asian ghetto. There was a bit of a line after I ordered. I could see how there could be a decent wait since there was only one person working at the time but that means all the food is extremely fresh! I ordered with the worker but there is also a kiosk next to the register to self-order. I got the potato mozzarella and sausage. My friends opted for a bunch of the other hotdog combos, taiyaki, and tteokboki. You have the option of adding sugar and sides of sauces. I got a light roll of sugar with ketchup and mustard on the side. It's an open kitchen and I saw the guy make everything fresh. The kitchen was very clean as well. The hot dogs were great. I got quite full at the end, especially with the extra potato crust. The outside batter and potatoes were perfectly crisp. The "slightly wreck the roof of your mouth in a good way" type of crisp. There was some chewiness to the interior of the batter as well. Mozzarella gave a great cheese pull. Hot dog itself had plenty of flavor. The hot dog was proportioned to be half mozzarella and half hot dog. I do wish it alternated a bit more to be quarter divisions for the mix in flavor. My friends enjoyed the taiyaki and tteokboki as well. It did take a bit longer for those last two to come out. Overall quite pleased with the experience! It's fairly priced and filling. I will definitely come back again and try the taiyaki.

sauces! you can pick 3 for each dog. I like the cheese mustard the most.

Saw an ad for the soft opening of this spot while scrolling on IG and really glad I checked it out! They have 20% off everything until their grand opening on 2/7-2/8. I definitely recommend taking advantage of it while you can because we really enjoyed our food. I got the mozzarella and sausage (3.) and the squid ink and mozzarella (5.). My boyfriend had the hot cheetos (11.) and the sweet potato and mozzarella (9.). We also shared a rose tteokbokki which they cook fresh for you! Everything was so good, I would order all of it again in a heartbeat. The tteokbokki was what surprised me the most though. I knew they had to have good Korean corn dogs if they expect to make it out here but I was blown away by their tteokbokki. The flavor was perfect, it was decently spicy, and the rice cake was nice and soft. The fish cake was delicious in it too, and they were not stingy with it. Don't forget to dip your corn dogs in the leftover rose sauce! For the corn dogs, I love that they have sweet potato options. I want to get that next time I go since I really enjoyed trying the one my boyfriend ordered. I also want to try the cheddar and sausage (4.) here next time as that's a usual favorite of mine at other spots. Will try to be back one more time for the 20% off deal! All in all, a yummy visit and great addition to the berkeley gourmet ghetto. Will be back!

Pretty good! Everything you want in a Korean style corn dog shop :) My boyfriend and I were super exited to see a new KCD spot open on Southside Berkeley. We loved mozzarella dogs and had to try it asap. The menu is versatile and a pleasant surprise was to see they had taiyaki! We ordered two mozzarella dogs, with a potato coating, and a box of 5 teriyaki with Nutella, Oreo, and cheddar cheese in the middle. We took our order on the iPad in store and it took about 20 minutes for the order to be complete. A bit of a wait, which was unexpected since it was not busy on this particular day! The corndogs were really good! I ate min eight mustard and sriracha, a must! The exterior was super crunchy and the batter was wonderfully chewy. the mozzarella was perfectly melted on the inside and nice and salty! Yum! The taiyaki were fun. Definitely not traditional but pretty tasty! My favorite was the Oreo one, because it was crisp and chewy and the Oreo in the middle ended up becoming soft, sooo good! The cheddar one was interesting, probably my second favorite. Nutella was not working for me. Overall, this spot was fun! Totally would come back.

All I can say is that was one of the best Korean corn dog I've had so far. After being disappointed by mochinut I was still craving a good dog, and this place hit the spot. Crunchy outside, best cheese pull ever on the inside.

    Carmen C.

Wasn't busy on a Friday evening with only two staff working. The ambience is nice and it surrounding with the neighboring snacks so you can try a snack from one place and hop next store and try something else. The sauces really bought the hot dog to a next level so I would recommend trying the sweet potato and sausage hot dog.

I was violently craving seolleongtang and did some research to find a spot in Oakland. The menu is pretty big with a lot of enticing options--I love bossam and blood sausage--but because I had tunnel vision, I stuck with the soup. The broth itself was good, and they had salt and pepper on the table so you could season it to your liking. Unfortunately, the noodles were way too soft and almost mushy, and the meat was extremely tough and hard to chew. I couldn't finish it. If seolleongtang is one of your favorite dishes, I'd probably skip it here. My husband got the kimchi fried rice, which was huge and great for sharing between 2-4 people. Based on the portion size, I do think it could use an extra egg, more Spam and some nori on top. It leaned more oily and buttery than other versions I've had, but it was still good--just nothing too special. The vibe and service were solid, so I'd come back to try other dishes and update my rating accordingly.

When we asked for appetizer recommendations, he simply repeated the menu items without offering any suggestions. Throughout the meal, he never checked on our table, even though we noticed him checking on the surrounding tables several times. At one point, the patio umbrella unexpectedly fell near our table. Instead of first asking if everyone was okay, his only response was, "Do you mind if I close the umbrella?" That was disappointing and made us feel overlooked. The only time his attitude became noticeably friendlier was when he brought the check. We happened to be the only Asian table that afternoon. While I can't say for certain why our experience felt different, the contrast in service left us feeling unwelcome. I hope every customer receives the same level of care and attention.

Sometimes you just need a big, comforting bowl of chewy noodles covered in rich black bean sauce, and this spot absolutely delivers. Their jajangmyeon is done just right. The sauce is savory, hearty, and satisfying without feeling too heavy, and the noodles have that perfect chewy texture that makes the whole dish so comforting. The portion size is also massive, so you could definitely share one order between two people--although I completely understand wanting one all to yourself. I also tried their fried chicken, which was decent, but it wasn't the standout for me. It was fine as a side, but compared to the noodles, it didn't feel like something I'd go out of my way to order again. Next time, I'd probably skip the chicken and focus on what they're clearly known for: their noodle dishes. Overall, this is a great spot when you're craving classic, satisfying Korean comfort food. I'd definitely come back for the jajangmyeon and would recommend it to anyone looking for a generous, flavorful bowl of noodles.

It only took roughly 15-20 minutes for the order to arrive and it came hot and fresh. Starting with the ja-jang myeon, it's so satisfying being able to mix in the sauce with the noodles. The black bean sauce is both salty, savory with a hint of sweetness coming through. The texture is thick and perfect which hugs the noodles with every bite. It also has a good balance of the veggies in the sauce as well. It is definitely very filling! The spicy rice cakes were soaked in a sweet and spicy sauce, with sautéed cabbage and peas. The flavors were really addicting and kept me coming back for more. The rice cakes were both delicate and chewy. Eating this dish alongside the pickled radish and onion cut through the richness of the dish. Lastly, I tried the yuja ade and was pleasantly surprised! I will say that it is very sweet, if you do prefer it to be sweeter instead of tart. At the bottom of the cup are these yummy almost candy-like yuja slices that practically melted with each sip. I'm so glad I decided to try it! Overall, the portion sizes are pretty big for the value! I was able to stretch the food across a few meals. I will definitely be eating here again!

*This review is for Chimmelier and Oh G Burger…read more We were the only ones in the restaurant on a Sunday evening around 6pm; when we approached the register, we were able to order on the kiosk (to the right of the register) or through the cashier. It was an ideal place to take a group because 1) it was fast casual 2) everyone can put in their individual orders without the awk who's-going-to-put-their-card-in issue 3) there were 2 restaurants (Chimmelier + Oh G Burger) in 1 so more options! What I got: 8 pc sweet gochujang wings (sauce was called YANG'YUM') and a side of tots with a cup for water **the wings were from Chimmelier and the tots were from Oh G Burger We were able to combine two tables together to fit our group of 5 and the cashier brought our food over in quick succession. The tots were my fav even tho the wings were supposed to be the star of the show. I liked how they gave me PLENTY of disposable gloves because the sauce is v sticky. Gochujang is a savory, sweet Korean chili paste, but I would say it was more sweet than spicy. I enjoyed my meal but maybe would wanna try a dry rub because putting on gloves every time can be a chore. I went for a yelp elite perk once and grabbed their chicken sando which was tasty.

We ended up having to pay the higher price because they said the menu just wasn't reflecting the latest prices. Fine, whatever. We both ordered chicken sandwiches and they were tasty. Also got fries for sides and some of them came out cold but we didn't think too much about it and we left feeling like we would return. However, on our second trip back - we once again ordered chicken sandwiches and also shrimp toast as an appetizer. One bite into the shrimp toast and the piece was very COLD...It wasn't fully cooked so we flagged it to them. They were very apologetic and happy to take it back to warm it up. But damn! PSA to diners here to check your food to make sure it's properly cooked here. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...well, I'm not sure I'll come back.
