I have had this before in the Pleasanton area, but it's been quite some time. The location is on a busy street of Walnut Creek, but it is located right across a parking structure. Inside is pretty small to sit, and ordering is via a kiosk. The drink kiosk is further back in the store. Lychee Fruit Tea: I adjusted to 50% sweet and it was still sweet for me. I added sago for texture and it did give it a nice profile overall. The 4 pieces of lychee also gave it added sweetness to my drink. It was chilled nicely and overall, it did brighten up my mood for the day. I think I need to go to 30% sweet and it will be perfect for me. Overall, I can see myself coming back here again.

I don't think you can bring a large group to hang out and chill inside. They only have two tables and maybe 6 or 8 chairs. As for the service, it's efficient I guess. When you go inside you just go up to one of the two kiosk and then pay and that will send your order to the kitchen where they'll prepare your drink and then you just pick it up. What I see here now is just depressing, not just because the place was empty, but it's now devoid of anything that felt like a spot someone would want to hangout at. No music, when I got in there was one person waiting for their food and nobody was even at the front counter for minutes before somebody finally came out from the back. Ordering is just through the kiosk now, which isn't a bad thing. The part that was really rough was the reason why I even came here; the boba. I got a regular milk tea which now they only have a single size. I miss the extra large size they used to have, but oh well. The next issue comes with how much the boba actually costs. They may have gotten rid of the extra large cup sizes, but they're still charging the almost the same amount for it in a much smaller cup. What a deal, right? And we get to the actual drink. When the person making the drink after receiving your order finishes within a minute of making it, it's never a good sign. Why is that? Well, they had premade jug of milk tea ready to pour out for your tasting pleasure. When you have a premade jug of milk tea, it's never a good sign. While I've had them at other places that have done this before, and it's ranged from bad to mediocre, the one here at Milk Tea Lab, now, was in a word, rancid. It was incredibly gross with absolutely no redeeming qualities to it. I generally try not to be so harsh, but this was really not it and I couldn't even finish the boba because of how bad the milk tea was. It's sad to see how big of a dropoff this spot has become compared to what it used to be. This isn't like when they first opened where there were only 2-3 boba spots right next to them. Now there's at least a handful of options within a few minutes away, and dozens of spots within a mile or two, and this is what they're pushing out? It's a shame but this Milk Tea Lab which was their starter store is no longer a place I would ever go back to for boba. It's time is now past with this new ownership.

I had high hopes for the Brown Sugar Boba at Boba Studio since it's been hyped up on Yelp, but it didn't quite hit the mark for me. The flavor leaned more towards milk with just a hint of brown sugar--not as rich or indulgent as I'd hoped. On the bright side, the boba pearls were fantastic--chewy, soft, and easily some of the best I've had. Ordering was a breeze with two self-service machines right next to each other, and the wait time was pretty standard for a boba shop. The place itself is clean and well-lit, making it a nice spot to chill. Plus, it's conveniently located next to a popular dumpling spot in downtown Walnut Creek. I could totally see myself grabbing a drink here after a dumpling feast. At $6.15, the price is average for boba these days. While I wouldn't call it my top pick, it's solidly middle of the pack for Walnut Creek boba spots. Bonus points for customization--they let my friend order a Brown Sugar Milk (no tea), which was a nice touch. I come to Boba Studio pretty often for milk tea, and it's honestly one of my favorite spots. Their drinks are well-priced and taste just right -- you can really tell they use quality milk, and the boba is always soft and perfectly cooked. The staff are super friendly and welcoming every time I visit. During Halloween, the shop was decorated in such a fun and creative way -- it made the visit even more enjoyable.
