I've been a customer here for years, and this experience was very disappointing. Whenever I order, I usually use the self-order kiosk near the counter. In the past, before my order was placed, I would ask for a lower sugar level (for example, 20% or 25% sugar). The staff would always accommodate my request. I was even told before that the kiosk doesn't have an option to select custom sugar percentages, so they could adjust it manually. This time, when I placed my order and politely asked about the sugar level, the employee told me that they could no longer make any changes unless the option was available on the kiosk. If the sugar level option was there, I could select it myself, but if it wasn't available, they said they couldn't adjust it manually anymore. What made the experience worse was the employee's attitude. When I said hello, it felt like she barely wanted to respond. Maybe she was tired or having a long day, but the interaction came across as very unfriendly and unwelcoming. On top of that, the boba was not cooked properly. The center of the pearls was hard and undercooked instead of soft and chewy, so I didn't enjoy my drink at all. Honestly, I'm writing this review mainly because of the customer service. The attitude was extremely poor, and combined with the undercooked boba, it left a very negative impression. I heard good things about this cute boba shop. The interior was pink and so cute. Felt like a little girl getting some tea! I love their surprise cup and the bear bottle! The flavors were so good and not too sweet. My husband like the strawberry tea ( no milk) while I enjoyed my surprise cup of matcha milk tea. Heard so many good things about this place. The ambiance is super cutesy for the girly pops and they have plushies that you can order with your drinks. The downside is that their drinks are just okay. I'm new to drinking matcha but the matcha was kind of bland. I wanted to try a few of the other boba spaces in Walnut Creek before we were away for the holidays. Enter in Bober. Bober's aura is Chaos Dreamland - pink furniture, pink flowers, pink signs, pink rugs, all panther pink, and they have two touch screens well distanced for easy ordering. The honey ordered a Thai iced tea and I ordered the caramel sea salt hot latte. I personally liked the honey's drink as it tasted perfectly sweetened, whereas my latte was a bit too sweet for me. Fun size stuff here too, such as bear cups, champagne bottle cups, surprise plush cups, smoothie cups, etc. Hot drinks weren't that flavorful IMO, so I stuck with iced drinks here. Mobile order ahead / pick up orders has been a breeze- they'd package your drinks well and have labels for each one. Amazing. However, recent ish trips hasn't been that great. One was a honey milk tea gone bad. Took it home and it tasted rotten. Completely spoiled. It was barely a 10 min trip back home too! Other one was we ordered 4 drinks and I swear I ordered a mango drink, and was presented with a pineapple drink. Did I do that by mistake or was there an error on the machine or was I just gaslit to oblivion? I asked oh I thought I got a mango, and the person flipped through the order and was like nope it's pineapple, but didn't even show us the tickets. Sus... wished I got a receipt, but that was my own negligent. I then checked the kiosk and the mango and grapefruit was next to each other and the pineapple was on the bottom right side, so noooooo way did I do that... unless I did. The menu seems to have expanded here since I was last here (at least from what I remember)! There's a Vietnamese coffee section with different flavors. I got the coco pandan option and while I do wish there was more foam on top, especially since pandan is not a very prominent flavor, the overall drink still tasted great. This is a real cutesy place with lots of flowers and pink roses all over. It's a great place to get a nice cool drink on a hot day. There's a nice selection of drinks, but the menu on the wall is too busy to look at. Luckily, the automated menu that you choose from is well organized and self-explanatory. It has a lot of cute pink and purple themed decor inside, probably intentional to encourage people to take photos and post on social media, including a floral-decorated pink telephone box. You can order on screen kiosks, for those who have social anxiety. I ordered a large roasted oolong milk tea with 0% sweetness. I thought it was pretty good, though not spectacular or unique compared to when I've had the same drink from other boba shops. Price was so-so (over $6 when including tax and tip). I've only ever had the non-dairy hazelnut milk tea here with black konjac jelly, 0% sweet because it still tastes like 75%. The melting ice helps. They offer the small size at this location; I got a large. It was a bit hot inside. Order via kiosk and wait for them to call out your name. They have three tables inside for sitting with round pink stools. Friends ordered: hot mung bean pandan latte and iced taro latte, both non-caff, plus hazelnut milk tea too. Minimum cost of toppings were 60¢ each. The taro latte was delicious. I changed my sweetness level to 50%. Roasted oolong milk tea 1/10 - literally tasted like sugar syrup and milk? - no tea flavor what so ever - no "roasted" flavor as well - just seemed like watered down oolong tea that was basically water was added to syrup Brown sugar creme brulee milk tea 2/10 - literally no tea flavor and tasted like heavy cream with brown sugar - the "stir fried" boba was way too soft and had no chew....there's honestly nothing special about it being stir fried. The flavor profile doesn't change from it just being in the brown sugar syrup. You order from the self service kiosk on the right and then the servers call out your name to pick up your drink at the counter. Overall, I would not come back to this place because of the obvious lack in tea flavor and the overwhelming sweetness. The total for these 2 drinks were $13.27. It was definitely NOT worth it. There's chain boba shops that makes better drinks at a better price point. The bear cups are cute and there's a pink phone booth to take pictures inside but that's it. read more

I'd often pass by Bober Tea many times before on my walks in downtown Walnut Creek. Usually I'd be on my way to the bookstore or coffee shop nearby. But it was a cool afternoon, I was thirsty, and I thought I'd check Bober Tea out. I didn't know you could put so much pink into a room! Pink walls, pink counters, pink seats, pink decorations. This place was made for the social media influencers to strike a pose with pretty drinks in a world of pink. But enough about the pink; let's talk about my drink. I ordered a mung bean pandan latte with stir-fried boba (it's seasonal so try it while you can). The staff had my drink ready within minutes of me ordering. The boba was fresh and chewy, and the sweet pandan and starchy mung bean were delicious. The chizu (Japanese cheese) reminded me of meringue-light, airy, and a little stiffer than whipped cream. It was a nice way to top off the drink! I been wanting to try this place not necessarily because of the drink selections but because of the little plushie you can get with your drink. I went to Google to find Boba tea that was open. I found this Bober. I've been here before, so I know the Boba tea you get is basically the same as everywhere else but costs more. Fine it is what it is. When I went to order a blurb came up about getting a free keychain, stuffy, or whatever it is. As I said, I found this through Google, and the transaction was processed through square. When I got to the end and paid there was no mention of the free keychain. I went to pick up my drink, with my daughter, and I mentioned the free keychain. They said they knew of no promotion. I said, I understand, but it's hardly like I'm trying to scam them out of a free keychain after paying eight dollars for a single drink. Still, who I can only assume is the manager, said she would not honor it. And she was kinda rude about it. The keychain would have cost them less than the tip I left. Bober are individually owned. Go to a different one. Or Skip Bower and go to a different Boba tea place, there are plenty. read more

This is a bit of an overdue review, as it completely slipped my mind that I had not yet gotten around to reviewing Bober Tea, until I read a review of this place from another fellow Yelper. But it was such a significantly better experience than another boba spot nearby, that they certainly deserved the proper recognition and shout-out. On our first visit, they unfortunately were out of boba. So we had to leave and try a nearby boba spot, that had terrible boba and really long wait times. The following week when we came back to Walnut Creek, we were thankful that they were well stocked with boba, and we could finally try them out. If there's one word I would use to describe Bober, it would be: Pink. The entire decor inside is pink themed, even down to the chairs. There are various cute wall decors that make great IG shots, as well as an inviting pink phone booth, lovingly decorated with pink flowers. There are two touch-screen monitors on the wall for you to place your order from, and our order was ready for us after just 5mins later. For our first time visiting Bober Tea, we opted to try their Chizu Mango Green Tea with boba. The flavor of the drink was delicious and refreshing, and the boba balls had a great, chewy consistency to it. Not too hard, indictive of boba that's not fresh, and not too soft and mushy either. Impulsively stopped by here while strolling around Walnut Creek with the husband. The aesthetic of this place is *chef's kiss. If you like taking photos, this is the place to go. However, it is a fairly small place so there's not much seating. When you go in, you order yourself using their system. We got the The Signature Milk Tea. If you want a drink that's very sweet, definitely get this. Despite the sweetness, it was really good! We also got the stir fried boba, which I've not tried elsewhere before. I'd say that the milk tea here is pretty on par with most milk tea places. However, I didn't try their Chizu drinks, which I think they are known for. Bober's menu offers a variety of beverages (Hot lattes, Brown Sugar Series, Real fruit green tea, Milk tea, Vietnamese coffee, Chizu Series, Rich Milk latte, tea Series, Caffeine-free), toppings (STIR FRIED BOBA, CHIZU CREAM CHEESE, KONJAC JELLY, PASSION FRUIT POPPING BOBA, CRYSTAL JELLY, STRAWBERRY HEART JELLY, COFFEE JELLY, LYCHEE JELLY, ALOE VERA JELLY, CRUSHED OREO), and mochi donuts from MOCHI DOUGH (ONLY FRI-SUN). As I mentioned earlier, Mom was didn't like the inability to adjust the ice levels of her drinks. Perhaps there is a valid reason behind this restriction? If so, an explanation would be nice, so customers could understand instead of finding Bober as rigid. Another reason why I can't give five stars for service is because I was told that they were unable to give me a receipt because I ordered at the counter instead of using the self-order kiosks. What?? Maybe they emailed it to me? No. Made no sense to me, so I insisted that the counter girl ask her colleague to help. At that point, they were able to text my receipt to me. When I got home, I found that an email receipt was, indeed, sent to me. The staff definitely could use some training. Overall, we had a good experience. The drink I got here is the large chizu pink pear green tea with pink boba, this boba was decent to mid tier rating. They used powdered for the pear flavor as I could taste the powdered particles while drinking it. If I were to come back here again & would order something else, especially the drink I got was above $8. I saw that they added a new topping from the last time I came here called "pink boba" I was excited to try it out but was disappointed when I tried pink boba. The boba itself was overcooked, making the boba/pearls more on the softer side. I've been here multiple times & sometimes the boba/pearls can be a hit or miss. The seating pretty limited with 3 to 4 tables in the store.
