The space is beautiful and spacious, and there were a few other people meeting and working there. The menu is interesting and they specialize in Yemeni coffee and other drinks. I got the Moka Roots latte at the recommendation of the owner, which was delicious with some light warming spices like cardamom. They also sell slices of cake and other goodies - I got a piece of baklava which was perfectly crispy and sweet. There is plenty of parking in the lot, and it's attached to the amazing Super Green Market. They also have an outdoor patio which I'd love to enjoy in the summer. Moka Roots isn't super close to my house, but I'm glad I checked it out and will definitely be back in the future.

Nate and I stopped by on a Saturday morning to try some of their seasonal drinks and get a light breakfast. The menu includes some hot food items (breakfast sandwich and quiche) and a small selection of pastries. We got a bunch of things to share: banana bread latte, a breakfast sandwich, slice of broccoli ham quiche, and a cherry almond scone. Everything came out on a counter near the ordering area and they called out our name. The drinks were tasty but I preferred the robin's egg cold brew the best. The banana bread latte didn't have a lot of banana flavor; it mostly tasted like the spices you'd associate with banana bread. I really liked the food we tried. The quiche was one of the best I've ever had. I'm actually still thinking about it days later. The texture of the egg was silky and custardy, not at all spongy or dry. I thought it was divine but if you don't like that texture, it is not for you (flan-like). The breakfast sandwich was a bit bland -- I asked for hot sauce but they couldn't find any. I appreciated the texture of the biscuit, and the egg was also tender (not as custardy as the quiche). I don't usually like scones as they tend to be dry, but theirs was flaky, buttery, and delicious, with a very almond-forward flavor. I would definitely order more quiche and scones. There were quite a few people coming in for pickup orders on a sunny Saturday morning. If I lived closer, I think I'd come here often. I'd be curious to try some of their take home items or lunch.

I parked in the back of the building and there were plenty of parking spots. I had a cappuccino because I had to try their coffee. It was great! I got some other things to try - the Asian salad and the carrot cake. Both were very good. Salad had tons of chicken. And the dressing was light and fresh. Carrot cake was freshly made and the frosting was amazing!! They had some different options in their take home fridge - some chicken lasagna and curry chicken salad to name a couple. I would definitely love to try that chicken salad one day. This place was the perfect coffee shop/bistro. I wish I lived closer by so that I could try more!

I tried the green omelette and added a side of the beef sausage. It also came with a piece of sourdough bread. The inside of the café is very cute and calming. I also ordered a hot latte with oat milk and sugar-free pistachio chocolate; that was probably the best part of my order. The food was pretty tasty, and the eggs were a large serving. The side of sausage was an extra $4, which in the future is probably not worth it. The side of bread was also unusually thin and hard to bite/chew - just not what I was expecting from sourdough. I would be interested in trying a Panini or your own next time!

Went to Mudpenny for the first time for brunch. Decent crowd on a Saturday. Opted for the Kevin…read moreMalone instead of the Brunchwrap and I think that was the right choice. Burrito is packed full of hash browns, crispy bacon, sausage, egg, and cheese. The only downside to the Kevin Malone is that they use spinach instead of like a chopped lettuce for the burrito and the texture is a little overpowering. Plus, they don't chop the stems off the spinach, so I'd either order it without or pick some pieces out. I feel like the Brunchwrap has a thicker layer of it and as much as mixing in a green is smart, it has to be prepped properly in my opinion. Patatas bravas as a side were fire. The potatoes were roasted and seasoned well. It advertised a garlic aioli, but we did not get that. As with San Chez's patatas bravas, ask for the sauce on the side. It is a very good side of potatoes compared to the thinly, oddly sliced potato slices that came with the breakfast sandwich. They looked like apple slices and were sort of wet and soggy like them too. Nitpicking their spinach prep and refining their side dish of potatoes are really the only notes if someone from Mudpenny is actually reading this and got this far. Great breakfast spot and service was spot on.

Had a late breakfast there this week that I thought might turn into lunch given how long it took to get the food out of the kitchen. Waitress never checked in with us during our long wait. My associate ordered the salmon plate with porches eggs. The eggs came out hard-boiled, and then staff was rude when he asked that the eggs remade. And like the original order, the poached eggs took forever to get out of the kitchen and were cold when they arrived. I Had the avocado toast, which should be delicious. Theirs is not--poorly conceived with flavors that do not meld likely the result of avocado paste versus fresh, massed-with-chunks avocados. The egg white omelet, which is pretty tasty, looks like a mess when it arrives at the table. Their espresso drinks are good.
