So after 5 min I get my drink. I took a sip and I literally spat it out. It was WAYYYY TOOOOO SWEET. No I really mean it. It was basically a GREEN SUGAR WATER. Ok. That's not even that hard to make!!! I dont usually complain but I really couldn't stand it so I went up and told them this is way too sweet . I asked them if I can get it remade. I came here two days ago with a group of friends. My wife ordered popcorn chicken for us all to share. We talked for about 10 minutes while a group of elder Koreans came in and placed two orders, one for drinks and another for food. Their order was prepared and delivered in about 5-10 minutes. Even though they had come in after we had and ordered more than we had they received their orders first. After another 10-15 minutes of catching up with the group of friends we realized that the popcorn chicken had still not come out. I got up to ask the teenagers behind the counter what had happened. The male behind the counter gave me an awkward smirk when I asked what the deal was with our order. He half mumbled an answer and sunk into the back. We decided to just head out at that point and asked for our money back. It was obvious to everyone that they had just forgotten to even make our order, and instead of owning up to it and apologizing for the mistake we left empty handed. No food, no apology, just an awkward smirk and a scoff from the female teen when we asked for our money back. I can't believe I never reviewed this place! This is my ABSOLUTE favorite place to get milk tea with no boba (that's the only thing I'll get here). I don't know what it is about their milk tea but it's definitely not watered down like most places and there's this really great flavor to it. If this was actually close to my house I would come here everyday, no questions asked hahaha I am proud to say that I have converted many to this place thanks to their ridiculously awesome milk tea. I'm not ashamed to admit it. There are times when they'll have a promotion for $1 milk tea and I'll come here and buy hoards of for myself and friends (mostly for myself) haha Free internet access here too. They also have a computer here that's free for you to use. It's a good place if you want to use your laptop because there's plenty of tables (but beware of occasional crowds and loud music) HOWEVER I will say though, sometimes they have off days and their milk tea won't taste the way I like it. That, along with their disgusting walls that have has high school graffiti all over it, is the reason why I won't give this place 5 stars. Sometimes it's riddled with loud, obnoxious kids who draw all over the walls because they think it's cool. What the hell, are you 4-years-old again? What kind of parenting skills taught you that it was okay to graffiti all over the walls? I'm telling you, it all started with one idiot and from then, most of the store is covered in it now. Okay so I'm not really the biggest fan of boba, but it'd been a few years since I tried it so I figured I might as well try again. I had a coupon from stretche.com that said buy one boba get one free so I made it a boba date with a girlfriend of mine. She loves this stuff so she was super happy and finished hers quickly, but I still didn't really like it at all so I sat there slowly sipping on it, desperately trying to avoid the little boba balls(ewwww) while she talked my ear off. Finally we got up to go and she realized I wasn't going to finish mine so she finished it for me lol. This place was fairly busy and we saw a lot of people come and go while we were there. They seemed nice enough, nothing unpleasant. They get three stars because it tasted just like the boba I had and didn't like years ago, and that was at a fairly popular place, so I figure their boba must be on par with what people like lol. read more

Not the best boba I've ever had, but considering my steet name is right there on the Google map thumbnail you can bet I'm here all the time regardless. Now, I don't mean to say the boba here is bad; it's really good quality from what I've experienced and I'm satisfied to have such a tasty treat so accessible. If you're in the neighborhood, it's a worthy drink stop. Down the street in two directions are Java Co. (a small cafe in a strip mall, serves blended boba drinks in a handful of flavors) and a Boba Loca, but given the choice I'd take Boba Ya-better quality than the former and slightly better crowd than the latter. There's a diverse menu here with the typical prices you'd expect to find at a boba joint. Besides drinks they have some things to munch on as well; the shaved ice treats they have are delicious and served in portions meant for more than one person, definitely recommended not to go it alone. Believe me, overdosing on condensed milk, red beans, and fruit isn't as awesome as it sounds. The bungeoppang (Korean take on taiyaki, a fish-shaped pancake filled with red bean paste) here is good, but I've come to realize whenever I come here there's usually an employee trying to shove some "deal" on it down my throat. Which brings me to the service. Two words: inconsistent & disappointing. Every time I order there's some sort of terminology barrier-I always find myself repeating my order for clarification. Seeing as there's most often only one worker at a time, this means a slight variation in recipes; once I lucked out and got a scoop of ice cream on my shaved ice, another time there was no boba in it (a fact my friend and I failed to notice until we nearly finished). Game of chances, best of luck to you! Free internet's a nice perk, but don't expect first dibs all the time. The ambience has gotten pretty tacky in my opinion; what was once the best sitting spot, a secluded nook with two leather couches and a table, has lost it's charm. Kids from the middle school across the street decided it'd be fun to graffiti the walls with their names and silly messages, then they did the ceiling, and the table, and finally the God-forsaken couches which are now sticky with Sharpie residue. DO NOT WANT. A lot of times I feel slightly alienated for not being Asian, but that comes with the territory. This shopping area and the other just down Beach are Asian hot spots or something. Being from the Bay Area, there are many places I wanted to try in SoCal for desserts. I've heard many good things about Red Mango, Pink Berry... but honestly I'm not into that yogurt ice cream deal. I had some in NorCal's K-Town aka Santa Clara at Cafe Aroma and it was alright. I have friends that love it, but I am a big fan of red bean shaved ice (pat bing soo). My aunt told me this cafe within walking distance of the restaurant we dined at has it so I headed over with my uncle, aunt and my dad. My first impression is a positive one. Nice warm colors, Korean girls with laptops hanging out, some older Korean gentlemen chatting, comfortable padded benches and tons of options for desserts to choose from. Maybe a bit too many. They have mainly Korean mainstream type music in the background which I enjoyed, but my dad told the worker girl who was passing by our table to turn it down. He made a little scene saying that the type of music gives him a headache. My uncle joined in by reinforcing that comment. Yeah... embarrasing. Anyway we ordered the pat bing soo which had fresh strawberries and kiwi, canned peaches and pineapple, red bean, and some other things I can't remember. I enjoyed the dessert, although SoCal has tons more to offer. Some places make it too gooey or too hard and they don't always taste sweet. Maybe some places soak em in sugar water? not sure. DRINKS: 2.5 STARS Their drinks can be a little on the sweet side, with no option to adjust the sweetness. But their boba is always warm. SERVICE: 2 STARS -The owner never smiles nor is friendly. -Why are you going to open the place at 10am and not have boba ready until 12 Noon? This is a BOBA place with "Boba" in the name. This has happened to me twice so I know it wasn't a fluke the 1st time. There is this 1 employee that thinks this is her house. She'll turn off the music to talk LOUDLY on her phone. And it's not just me because the 2 tables on both side of me were all exchanging irritated glances. She yells at the other employees (in a bossy way, which is none of my business if she wants to order them around but it's so loud and disruptive to everyone studying there.) She has done this on several occasions. EVEN when she's just visiting! AMBIANCE: 2 STARS - They play music here loudly. Like it's a club. My mom loves this boba place. I enjoy it as well, but it's missing green milk tea. In fact, I think they could have more milk tea choices! They're usually Korean, but they do speak a bit of English. $1 boba is killer. It's worth every penny. Plenty of parking. Lots of teenagers from the nearby high schools. read more

It's your typical Korean run-of-the-mill boba place. I had the caramel iced coffee, which was pretty good. Of course, I have yet to have a caramel iced coffee ruined, it's pretty hard to ruin that. The service was friendly and helpful, and it was a pretty good environment to catch up with friends over a cup of coffee or some snacks. My friend got the popcorn chicken, so we all got a chance to try that. It was ok, but it was different from what I'm used to, which is more like what you get at Tapioca Express. I loveeee boba and boba-ya is just your typical korean boba place where the boba is overly sweetened and cooked and the drinks are made from your typical flavored powder. Seriously, who wants to drink water with flavored powder and pay $4 for it?! The drinks here are just cheap and easy. Not good quality. If you're going to pay that much for boba, why not go to some of the places that actually uses real good quality tea and real flavored fruits for their smoothies? I just can't believe I paid so much for such an incredibly crappy drink. If there is one drink I ABSOLUTELY recommend you to not order it would be the passionfruit green tea. This is right between 3 and 4 stars. My boba is always perfect here. I've had most of the boba in town and this one gets it right. Boba elsewhere has been either gumball hard or almost liquified. The boba here is just the right amount of "squishy" and has been the best of the places I have been. Price is very reasonable and they have other items other than boba that I have no tried yet. The boba itself I love and give them a near perfect score for. The negatives of this place is that it is small and gets hot and/or muggy inside. I've been going here for probably 15 years. The service is always amazing. It's really updated over the years. Seating isn't too comfortable to stay in long to study and sometimes they cook fish and it terribly stinks up the entire place, but the drinks are the cheapest around and service is good. Pros: The best Slushy Milk Tea boba. Cons: Everything else tastes average. It's a bit on a pricy side but maybe better than other Boba chain. This place is on the Beach blvd, but it's kinda north of 91 and 5 so it's a bit inconvinient unless you are in the area. Service is ok. Not super friendly. So why 4 stars for not that good review?
