Went in for shaved ice one very hot day. Walked up to the shaved ice counter(store looked abandoned) but a man was there working on something at another window. He watched me walk up to the shaved ice counter. He watched me looking at the shaved ice menu, and then ignored me until I asked a question, at which time he said, "Our shaved ice machine is broken!" When I got a bit overly upset at him for waiting until I had wasted minutes before telling me that there's no shaved ice, he said, "you're just a rude white man"! (He was Asian, by the way). Scotty's is located inside of a local flower store. They have Hawaiian shaved ice. If you come after 1:00 you can get the fine shaved ice, which is similar to shaved snow. They have dozens of different syrups and flavors. For an additional fifty cents you can add some vanilla ice cream. I totally recommend doing so. It's the perfect addition to the shaved ice. The portions are huge so you can definitely share with another person. They also serve Boba. They have their own private parking lot. It's a little small, but they never really have a rush so it works out. Scotty's flower store and shaved ice is a Whittier staple that's gives you all the hometown feels. Currently there is only one (1) table available for seating otherwise you can take it to go. There is no outside seating. This business is located on a busy corner and Parking is easily available. Have been coming here for Shaved ice for years . Hubby & I brought our kiddos for a treat since school just let out for summer. They're practicing safe social distancing & MASKS ARE REQUIRED, which Is fine by us ( we have 4 little ones that are NOT vaccinated). Lots of parking available. As soon as the man seen the line forming he quickly stopped what he was doing on the florist side of the business & came to take our orders while a young teen girl filled the other customers orders. We ordered the only size available which was a small, perfect for our youngest 8 & 9 year olds... Yet still filled up our 16,13 &12 year olds as well. There are Many Flavors, as well as we all added Vanilla ice cream at the bottom. Great deal! We ordered 6 cups of all various Flavors " You can CHOOSE 2 FLAVORS per cup = approximately $18. I Do RECOMMEND bringing CASH because there's a 9% charge for using a Credit Card. The kids were so happy with this treat. (2 of which had never been here). I honestly can say they were all silent for at least 40 mins. Pure Bliss.... the Shaved ice & the silence. We will be back soon. A+ establishment. read more

One of my favorite establishments in Whittier, by far. I'm happy that it's stuck around all this time, and I'm all for promoting small businesses. This review is for their shave(d) ice. Although they are also a flower business, I think this is one of the best places to get shave ice on a hot day. The prices are amazing. Only 2.50 for a HUGE shave ice cup WITH ice cream. Yes, you can get multiple flavors! This is such a steal. I greatly appreciate prices that aren't fluffed up - cough LA/OC cough. There is seating inside. I will admit it is not the best place in terms of upkeep - but you can sense the homely nature of this place. From the hand drawn cards for sale to the pictures of local sports teams on the walls, you know this is a place that's been around for a while and is hopefully there to stay. You can choose between shaved ice with your choice of flavor(s) and add ice cream or additional flavors. During summer, this definitely hits the spot! In addition, the prices are inexpensive! After a marathon shopping spree at Target the mini-me and I were on the lookout for something cool. I've seen Scotty's a million times but always thought it was a flower shop and what do you know? It IS a flower shop with a small counter selling shaved ice, boba, and tea...what! When you walk in you will see floral arrangements and the person that makes them hacking away at roses. Then there are a couple of plastic tables and chairs to enjoy the shaved ice and a little counter where you place your drink orders. It's random as hell! Now, shaved ice is shaved ice. There is nothing special about it and no way to eff it up. But Scotty's has found a way to make it the shit and then some by adding ice cream at the bottom. So maybe they aren't the only one's that do this, who knows. All I know is I bought it here, I loved it, and it was all of $2.50 for a TUBE of awesomeness. They say don't judge a book by its cover though I tend to make that mistake over and over. This small one-story building houses two businesses-flowers and shaved ice (boba and yogurt too!). You can't miss it. It's right at the corner of Colima and Lambert. There's ample parking space at the back. I've only been to a few shaved ice places, but this is the BEST one so far. Why? You actually taste the flavors not just the ice. They certainly don't skimp on the syrup. I find it funny because they don't appear to be very sophisticated. Imagine your Grandma preparing your shaved ice treat for you in her kitchen. That's what it felt and looked like. I had a large Waiola, a combination of lemon, pineapple and coconut. I asked for ice cream and boba which cost extra. I only paid $3.27 total. Not bad. Please note that they only offer one ice cream flavor-vanilla. There are tables and chairs where you can hang out surrounded by flower arrangements and greeting cards. I read a book for a little bit. I took one star out because of the service. It was extremely slow and no courtesies were exchanged. But I let it slide since Grandma might have been in a bad mood or was just busy that day. The line was getting longer and longer. I mean I had to watch a teenage couple make out in front of me while waiting for their order. But how can you be mad at Grandma?
