The guys at Bobby's Pit Stop have fantastic customer service. We took our Trailblazer in a few weeks ago with a very difficult problem to find. The diagnostic tests took longer than expected so they rented us a car on their dime. Once the problem was discovered, YIKES... a few parts on the transmission broken which ultimately meant we needed a new transmission. After dropping off the car for repair, within 24 hours they had replaced the transmission. These guys use fantastic vendors for parts, they know their stuff and they are reasonably priced. We will definitely be using them for feature maintenance. read more

Don't take your car to this shop. I spent over $700 dollars to replace my spark plugs and they replaced a coil pack. My car ran worse after I picked it up. When I took it back they could not figure out what was wrong. I had to take my car to another shop to have the spark plugs redone and replace the coil pack they said they replaced. Another $500. If you like throwing away your money go to Bobbys Pit Stop. read more

So, My Horrible experience with King Smog...well is better left unsaid now. I call Holiday smog after I dealt with the fact I'd have to get over the disrespect of Kings. Holiday smog was very weird on the phone. He completely yelled in my ear and went off about the DMV for no reason when all I asked for on the phone was a quote on my make and year. I didn't even get a price out of him. I took liberty of going to DMV first for my registration, then figuring out a smog place last minute. I call Holiday smog, assuring him (for some reason, is it his business?) That my DMV papers are up to date. I again asked for a quote, and instead of an answer I got another question. Yeah buddy, scoring point here! :/ Womp womp. After he replies, "Um, Didn't you just call...?" With aggravated tone in his voice. Like he hasn't wasted my time at all having to call back for a basic question!, but instead his with like golden rule. After some back and forth I get a very high quote. Another dead end... I do not want a hot head who gave me a run around on a high quote working on my car.. So I last minute, as I'm sitting in the DMV parking lot, weighing my options, call Bobby's Pit Stop. I briefly explain the experience I'm having, (not going into this much detail! hahaha) They said they are booked, but if I go right then they will fit me in. I race over and they are very helpful in squeezing me in. I also got the BEST PRICE IN TOWN!!!! Trust me, I called everywhere. I also got Bobby himself to work on my car. Very cool! He came back stating all is passing but timing and he has a part on hand for a cheap fix. I know my car was jacked and so I was okay with the small fee. He said it would be 15 min but got it done faster. Even noticed my tires were low and put some air in them. BY FAR the best smog experience I have had to date. May not be the best choice for your pre-purchase vehicle inspection. I bought an inexpensive older van with their estimate that it needed $2000 worth of work, some important, some not. We still bought the van with the reassurance from the shop that this was a very thorough picture of the van's condition. Days after the first service, when we did $1500 of the work, I started hearing some noises and once there was smoke. I got the van back in to them a month after the initial inspection and work. Now there were $1200 worth of issues on top of the original $2000. Bad news. I'm now tapped out and stuck with a vehicle I can't afford to fix. I guess I was stupid for trusting a mechanic that I didn't know very well. But, they knew the van, had good reviews, and I had heard good things locally. I've only ever had one mechanic that I would give five stars to, and most of the others fall in the mediocre or dishonest category. So, to be fair, Bobby's Pit Stop is probably no worse than the rest. But in my experience, it's no better either. read more

So I had a problem with my starter The owner he said his name was either nate or bobby pretty sure it was bobby, anyways I needed a new starter I knew this for a fact because I had it test by other auto parts so. Bobby said the part would cost 200 plus 60 for a diagnose + 120 an hour for labor totalling $400 after tax. I called oriellys they said they have the brand new part for 80$ and it takes a total of 15 minutes to change it. So I bought the part from them and 30 minutes and 97$ it was done. So long story short bobby tried to scam me. He got upset when I asked if I could watch or bring in my own parts, he didnt want to answer questions about the proccess because he is a typicall lying thiefing mechanic, I suggest sears they are reliable and friendly. read more

I live on the Peninsula and use to take my Acura to the dealerships in Silicon Valley-San Jose area. Then someone recommended i drive all the way over the hill to 'Bobby's Pit Stop' in Santa Cruz, Ca. I said 'it is too far !!' until i tried it, and now i won't take my very expensive but low maintenance Honda-Acura anywhere else !! They are polite, professional, efficient, and very competitively priced/beat almost anyone else's prices !! I usually book in advance for 'one day service' so i can shop the Capitola Mall and eat while i wait, even go down to the beach. Only once did they find a part that they could not get that day, and it took days, but i still saved lots of money; Used a rental car. I change my own oil and filters at 3000, but Bobby's does all my major tune-ups and few breakdowns. Thank you Guys !! read more

PERFECT! Got there at my scheduled appointment time for a smog check. They took my car right away. I waited in the waiting room, and 15-20 minutes later was paying a reasonable fee and was on my way. I have worked in the automotive industry for 25 years and was a top service writer with several major dealerships during that time. I recently took my car to Bobby's and was appalled by the way I was treated. Instead of checking out my transmission for me they charged me a diagnostics fee and said I needed a new transmission. Their diagnosis: there's something broken in your transmission, you need a new one. What did the tech do for diagnosis? He drove my car around the block and told me what I had told him ("there's something broken in my transmission"). They also noticed that I needed tires. They said $3,000 out the door for a new transmission. I also had a $65 tow bill and they said they were charging for the tech's diagnosis time. When I went back to OK the work, they said it was $4,000 plus change. Let's do the math: $3000 for the trans, $65 towing, plus tech diagnosis maybe $65. That is $3,130. Add new tires and it's another $900 dollars!? This is not ethical nor is it being totally honest.. You figure it out. I canceled the tires for sure and I never in my life charged anybody for a diagnosis without the tech actually spending the time to do a diagnosis. I recently scheduled an oil change/battery issues and replacement/remote start/smog test at Bobby's Pit stop. All was going well until we received a phone call that the battery change would cost $195 (seemed a bit high) with supposedly a dead cell. I called around to several other places and was quoted $100-125 with no service fee charged. I called in and requested not to do the battery change and mentioned much cheaper quotes elsewhere, guy on the phone talked to another and stated that it was due to a 30 minute service charge (30 minutes to replace a battery??). When my wife went to pick up the car everyone was friendly, then when she went to turn the car on it wouldn't start. The dealership had turned the light to the on position (we always have it on Auto, no exceptions) and left it there, I'll let you draw your own conclusion as to whether or not it was intentional. She acted nice, got a jump and left to Oil Can Henry's down the road. There she was quickly and politely advised that her battery was testing fine at 80% Life approx, they did a quick check and realized that the battery was low on water thus causing issues (apparently Bobby's doesn't check for this or prefers not to mention). The quickly filled it up and suggested waiting a couple days and said they didn't want to charge for work that wasn't necessary (ie replacing a perfectly good battery). My wife happily tipped $20 for the good service with multiple polite/profession service people at Oil Can Henry's and went on her way. An hour later, battery works great, remote start running well and it was at no cost from a professional establishment. Bobby's Pit stop overcharged, didn't do a thorough review of the battery and on top of all that I just realized today they didn't even provide or likely complete the smog test on our vehicle although they did charge for it. Avoid this location at all costs and go to a reputable store right down the road. read more
