I brought in a bridesmaid dress that was way too big for me. I showed her how I wanted it altered and the picture of the dress (how it is supposed to look). This dress had huge bubble tulle sleeves. I specifically told her NOT TO TOUCH THE SLEEVES. That was the best part of the dress.  When I returned to try on the dress, she had cut off most of the sleeves. They were drastically smaller, UNEVEN, and snug to my arms. It was exactly what I told her NOT to do. I was in tears. I asked her why she did that... Her response "I thought it would look better. They were too big and looked funny."  This was NOT her choice. She ruined my dress. Not only did she cut off the tulle sleeves when asked not to, she did a terrible sewing job. Everything around the waist was uneven and when I told her it was not taken in enough she argued with me. I was paying her $250 CASH to do alterations I needed for a wedding in a month, and she BOTCHED the dress and discounted me $10. I don't think she was rude, but I do believe she ruined my dress and thought she could just do whatever she wanted. There was no fixing that dress. I had to order a new one for the wedding. It was NOT wearable for a wedding. I don't recommend coming to her. Be careful trusting people with your expensive outfits. You will end up paying more or having to replace them. read more

Oh! So this is where all those missing socks from the dryer disappear to! It's like the black hole of clothes! It's wall to wall stuff in here, but despite all the mess, Bobi's tailoring does exactly what I need. For all the dozens of pairs of jeans I needed hemmed, she did just that and I never had any problems with them. It's true, she does get a bit mixed up with all her jobs and can be late on her deadlines. That can suck if you're really pressed for time. You can usually call ahead to make sure they're ready, especially if you have a few items. She charges $7 - $10 or so for a simple hem. She also does just about anything else. On this particular visit, she made a halloween costume for my son, and on very short notice! Nice! It's cash only but there is a credit union ATM in the same mini strip mall. Parking is on top and there is a staircase leading to her shop. Don't try parking on Mira Mesa Blvd or you'll be roadkill for sure. Oh, and beware the needles on the floor if you're going from the dressing stall to the mirror...getting stuck is a beeyatch! read more

I am just shy of 28 yrs old and have been coming to Bobi's since I can remember. My family has been coming here to get clothes tailored for years. My mom and I are both short so we can never just buy a pair of pants and wear them. Instead, we take them straight to Bobi's. Just so you know what you will be walking into... This is a small shop on the side of Mira Mesa Blvd where you take the long staircase down to get to to shop entrance. The place is covered wall to wall with clothes. I honestly have no idea how the clothes are organized, but somehow it works. Dont be worried by the appearance, they will do an excellent job. You go try on your clothes in one of the two dressing rooms (with POS hangers to try to hang stuff on). Then you come out and stand on the block in front of the mirror and Bobi does her magical measurements. She give you a slip to tell you when to pick up the clothes and BAM! That's it. One important note - this place is CASH ONLY! So be prepared or hit up the ATM at the bank up above. Bobi's is so inexpensive and they do great work. I laugh anytime I have a friend who gets a dress tailored at a dress store (ahem...Alfred Angelo) and pay waaayyyyy too much. I got a bridesmaids dress tailored for $25 here. When I first got to Bobi Tailoring, I was shocked by the sheer volume of clothing every where. The prior reviews were not kidding. It looks like the place where clothes are sent to never be found again. But you can't judge this place by the looks of things... The lady that runs the shop was very friendly and knowledgable. She assisted me right away. She knew exactly how to handle even the most delicate materials. I dropped off my clothing on Tuesday and it was ready by Saturday. I brought in 1 dress, 1 pair of pants, 1 pair of jeans, and a cardigan. The pants and jeans were hemmed to perfection. Now I won't be cleaning the street with my pant hems. As for the dress and cardigan, it was simple loose threading and easy mend job. She charged me a little over $20. Which seems quite reasonable. Overall it was a good experience. I don't usually spend the time to write a review, however I was so impressed with this woman I had to share. I went to Bobi on a recommendation. I'm getting married soon and wanted an inexpensive casual, cream-colored cocktail dress for the ceremony (difficult to find that color during the winter season). After searching dept stores, discount stores, and scores of boutiques without finding anything I was ready to give up. Then I found the perfect dress at a thrift store- in burgundy. I took it to Bobi and asked if she could make me this dress in cream. She said sure, you buy the material, and I'll make it for $100. Holy crap! In 1 week she had the dress together enough to do a fitting, it just needed straps and hems. The next week it was done- a custom wedding dress made from another dress for $100. Amazing! For those who haven't been there, her shop is on the south side of Mira Mesa Blvd just east of I-15, on the row of shops facing the street before you make a right into the Play It Again Sports parking lot. Yes, the alterations are great. I used to bring all my items here. That is, until I saw a giant (as in, at least 2 inches long) cockroach fall from the ceiling. I don't care how good the alterations are. If your shop has a cockroach that is brave enough to make an appearance in broad daylight, you know there are hundreds more of them waiting in the wings. read more

This is by far the best place to go to if you're not trying to break the bank on tailoring your pieces! I've been coming here ever since I had to get my prom dress hemmed, a treasured, taupe number from BCBG Max Azria, and the job only came out to $15! It was by far the cheapest place to do it and they did not skimp on quality at all. The dress is surprisingly oft-worn (for a formal dress, of course) and the hem hasn't shown signs of fraying/unraveling and it's been years. Since then, I've started going to them for any tailoring needs, trading in prom dresses for business skirts and pant suits. They always do a solid job at cheap prices and accomplish it quickly, within a week even though they look backed up. The process usually starts with bringing the piece in, trying it on, and having them pin it to your body to get the measurements down. She really gets you in and out quick. The place can seem off putting to new visitors as it looks a mess with tons of clothing scattered, but she has never misplaced my things nor has anything come back dirty/damaged so their system seems to be working for them! read more

I started going here a couple years back when I lived over in Mira Mesa. Needed a blazer altered and thought they did a great job. I started bringing my jeans here because short asian guys like me can never find jeans that fit properly ;-) For original hem, they charge $12, which is fairly reasonable. The best part about it all is that they are the hardest working couple up and down mira mesa blvd. Think they open at 9 in the morn but you'll see them working late into the nite, don't take my word for it, drive by @ around 9-10 (i'll put $5 they'll still be there). I came back 10 days later, and they forgot to even do the job. Terrible place. When I'm trying on my trousers with store's dressing shoes, I was stuck by a needle inside one of the shoes. After my wife told them about this incident, the tailor never apologize. They also missed the promised day for pick up. Again, no apology. Not sure why anyone should come here again when these unprofessional ladies treat us like shit. I go here b/c I can speak VNese w/the workers and let them know exactly what I want. But...even speaking the same language...out of 6 article of clothing that I've gotten fixed here...she did 1 INcorrectly and I will have to get that one fixed again. But overall, it's a trustworthy tailoring service. She uses the right thread for all different types of fabrics. For Ex. Denim requires a tougher thread than normal and she has done that correctly. Stretchy fabrics also need stretchy threads and so far, she's done that correctly too. The first review is right. When you first walk in, it is a mess! But whatever , you just get used to it. I think the price is reasonable. Not dirt cheap, not overly expensive. She does a satisfactory job. I'm just happy that I have found someone that can fix my clothes to how I like it. there's always parking on the upper level. Just need to walk to the store. Store opens late. Until 7 on a Saturday! Let me first say that the result of the job they did was actually very good so as to not scare anyone off. This place really freaked me out at first because of the mounds of clothes laying around the store. I had this worried feeling that my expensive clothes might some how get lost in the chaotic mess. I almost turned around and scrambled out of there but it was late and I really wanted my premium denim hemmed to the right length. I dropped my items (1 BCGB work pant and 1 Genetic Premium Denim) off on a Monday and was told to pick them up on Thursday of the same week. When I arrived after work, to my disappointment, 1 of my items was not done yet. However, Bobi (I believe that was her) quickly did it in 15 minutes. I was pretty pleased with the result of both items. I took away 2 stars for the horrible disorganization of the place and the fact that I had to wait an extra 15 minutes. But because of the quality of the outcome and the price, I would take clothes here again. read more

Great potential! They do it old school here and no cards (sorry, cash only- I learned the hard way... Twice). They couldn't find my husbands pants, which didn't surprise me when I looked around the piles of clothes they had lying around. Eventually they found it, but it makes me anxious thinking about going back and trusting them with extremely expensive valuables that I need alternated. Maybe I'll try them again in the future, but for now I'm okay with trying other shops to fill my needs. Don't waste your time going here. I will never come back. Where do I begin? I went there and the main lady was very rude to me the entire time. She demanded 50% of the money upfront which I paid but she was rude about it. Then I went to pick up the clothes, and the pants on the hanger not even folded properly so now they are wrinkled. In addition, she throws my jacket on the floor on a bag that is dirty and all of that dirt got on the suit. Unacceptable! I told her I have an interview tomorrow, she could've done a much better job him when my clothes. It's not that hard to actually put the pants properly on a hanger. Everybody's else's clothes appeared to be on hangers and looked good except for mine. Now I am scrambling at the last minute trying to get my clothes in good shape. It takes an extra second just to make sure the clothes are on the hanger probably next time I will go to a place who cares more about this stuff. Very disappointed. read more

Bobi is the best person to go to if you need anything altered. I always take my jeans over and she has never made them to short or kept them too long. I even took my prom dress to her a few years ago and she took it in so that it fit like a glove. Also, she has fixed zippers on the fly of a pair of jeans. Be ready to try on your clothing item in front of a full body mirror so that she can pin and measure what she needs to alter. Her shop does seem a little scary because there are clothes EVERYWHERE but don't let this mislead you. She completes her projects in a timely fashion. It has happened once when I went to pick up a pair of pants and they had not been completed yet. This is not any reason for me to give her less than 5 stars though because she discounted the price for me when I came back to pick them up AND she did a great job. I would never go anywhere else for alterations because she is great at what she does and the prices are fantastic! Look out, she is CASH ONLY. do not ever go here, this Is not a business worth supporting. I never leave reviews, even more rare a bad one but they left me completely ripped off and a completely ruined expensive dress. When I politely asked for a refund she told me to "go get another dress so she could fix it" as if I could just do that. I explained that I understand mistakes and would just like my refund which was the least she could do and said I would give her the money back once she fixed it. She then threw the money and dress at me and left me completely unsatisfied. Wow! Last minute and efficient!! Reasonable priced. Yes, the place is messy and you will be nervous as they search for your item, but your item will be clean, ironed and adjusted. I had a Davids Briadal dress taken in, pockets taken out and the belt buckle adjusted to fit more snug. The belt was cut and a new whole was made. Everything seems so seemlessly done. read more

I needed to get some work done on one of my bridesmaid dresses (i'm the bride). I brought it in on a Friday. She told me to come back the following Saturday. I came in 4 days after she told me to and she hadnt even started it. I was so angry! Then she told me she'd have it done the next day. Now i'm thinking, "oh great- she's going to do a rush job". They do good work but if you need something reliable- forget it. I wont be bringing in the remainder of my bridesmaids dresses for alterations. Thats for sure. I am a loyal customer because of their speedy service and flexibility. When my husband bought his Banana Republic suit a few sizes too BIG, I had to desperately find a tailor that could alter his suit to a european cut as well as get it done in 1 week . The suit was $500 so I had to find a place that was trustworthy and reliable. After 1 week, the suit was done and recut to my husband's body shape. The suit was perfectly fitted and it really looked sharp on him! Men's Wearhouse quoted the alteration at $130 and Bobi's Tailoring charged us $55 for the same job. Never underestimate your local businesses! They did a fantastic job. Oh, and yes...this place is a mess so be prepared! read more

Bobi's Tayloring has been here for decades. I've come here all my life. The cost to mend my pants is 7 bucks each not like other places in dry cleaners and in big malls where they try to get you for 10 dollars a pant. It's the perfect hole in the wall. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!! I am a Police Officer, and I like wearing my uniform tapered to my body. Bodi has done 6 sets of patrol uniforms, and 6 sets of dress uniforms, all without any problems. Awesome Tailor Originally I found Bobi through my drycleaner because my tailor is too far & I needed a reliable tailor next to my house. I travel around the globe & I require fashionable suits to wear. I purchase top designer suits with unique styles (Band Neck Suits, etc.) online (not available in stores) & I need a professional tailor for alterations. In my first visit to her shop, I needed alterations for 3 new suits & she done a great job. She is a perfectionist so she redone 2 of the trousers which one of her assistants done. She re-hemmed one trouser 3 times to get it perfect. She re-done it fast while I was sitting there. She tucked in the sleeves & sides on the jackets & hemmed the trousers. The 3 suits fit great. The other day I had a long chat with her while waiting on some pants. She told me her whole history. She had the shop for 25 years. Her extremely pleasant behavior & her professional work is why she has built a steady & faithful clientele in the area. After my drycleaner referred her, I searched her on the net & I found tons of good reviews about her. I was very impressed with her work & character that I have decided to change my tailor of 15 years. Bobi is my new tailor & as a journalist, I promised her to write this review for her on Yelp. Like many previous reviews mentioned, the lady had some trouble finding the pants that I had them to work on. After locating the pants, she realized that the work was not done at all on the date when it is supposed to be picked up. She did it really quickly while I was standing and waiting. Stay away. Bobi is rude, mean, and disorganized. I took 5 pairs of pants to be hemmed last year and at that time she only charged me $7 per pair of pant. My father in law needed a couple suits altered and I recommended he take them there. I went with him. He also had a few pairs of pants, She measured him while she was on the phone (didn't even say hi to us) and when she finally got off the phone, she quoted me $10 per pair of pants. When i told her she only charged me $7 last time, she said straight up "You are lying. Trying to get a better deal. I know my prices. I would never charge $7". We were desperate to get his suits tailored so I tucked my tail between my legs and we still went forwrad (she wasnt cheap, by the way, $75 for each suit jacket to be made a little smaller). After all this, she wanted us to come back 5 days later to pick up one of the suits (that was as fast as she could do it). My father in law went back the day it was supposed to be ready, which was also the day he was supposed to wear it and she claimed her electricity went out and for him to come back 3 hours later to pickup. So he waited around, since he lives 20 miles away, for it to be done. When it was finished, she yelled at him for coming back at 3:55 pm when she quoted him 4pm. Told him he made her feel rushed. And she threw the suit at him (no bag or anything). When he asked for a bag, she laughed at him. Needless to say, no one in my family will be going back to Bobi. read more

Never coming here again!! Dropped my dress off to get some alterations. The lady working said she couldn't give me a price and had to wait for the owner to determine a price..ok!? So I dropped it off and called back to get the pricing. 4 calls!! Each time " owner not here, you call back in hour" each time I called back the owner was not available. My final call I demanded to get a quote or I would be picking up my dress. Finally they quoted me $50. Ok fine. The lady told me to pick the dress up on Saturday 7/11 after originally dropping it off on 7/6. So Saturday & Monday I couldn't pickup so here I am on Tuesday-ready to pickup. The dress is still hanging up with pins still in it!!!!!! The owner says the lady tried to call me to have me re try the dress on... WRONG! No one called me! I was furious! The owner promised she would have it done the next day but I declined and requested my dress back. I'm not going to waste another day on this place! Move on and find another tailor. read more

I almost don't want to tell anyone about her because she's fantastic and I hate waiting to get my stuff altered by her. I wear suits everyday and she's altered about 7 suits for me and close to 20 buttoned shirts. I see a couple of reviews complaining that she charges a lot. I know her prices are definitely slightly below going rate for suits. Overall I would echo the other comments here and say that she does fantastic work for a reasonable cost. Some things to consider when you go see her. 1. Bring cash. 2. Try on your clothes before you leave. If you're not happy, you should tell her. However, once you leave the shop you can't complain. Maybe bring a friend to the store to give you a second opinion? 3. Beware: Once you realize that tailored clothing makes you look 10x better you'll have everything tailored and well...it can get expensive. read more

Today after reading many positive reviews I went to Bobi's Tailoring to have 2 dresses finishes, zippers and neckline. I went there at 9:30am and was told to come back in an hour, because they weren't able to give me a price until the boss was there, which is kind of strange since you would think they'd have set prices. Anyways I came back an hour later and was told they wouldn't be able to do, because they are too busy for which I drove there twice and then found that my WHITE DRESS WAS LAYING ON THEIR DIRTY FLOOR!! Extremely unprofessional I will NEVER go there again. If you have nice clothes don't take them here, because apparently they could care less about getting your things dirty, it's not too hard to at least put it on a hanger and it's just rude to make me drive there twice to tell me they won't be able to sew it while storing my things on the dirty floor. I ended up taking it too Anna's Tailoring off of Convoy who was very friendly. read more
