I purchased a 2014 Ford Mustang Convertible from a used car dealer in LA and realized shortly after that the engine bracket was cracked. The car was still getting 22 mpg but after about 5k miles the bracket completely broke and while the car was still drivable the mpg dropped to 19 mpg. So I purchased bracket online and went searching for an auto mechanic to replace it on a Saturday when many other shops were closed. I called Bob's Auto Repair and spoke with Bob. He was kind and professional. After a quick call, I dropped by his shop for an assessment. He assessed the damage and gave me valuable insight into a potential accident prior to my purchase of the vehicle. After assessing, he offered a fair price and went right to work. 45 mins later with the bracket changed and new synthetic oil/filter replaced I was very pleased. We are located in Oregon and our son lives in So Cal and the repair was being done on his car. When he went to pick up his car there was NO break of the $45.00 on the bill. Good Ol Bob lied to us and since the money was coming out of our pocket to cover the repair (over $1000) I was not letting Bob off the hook. He only decided to give our son back the $45.00 in cash when he back over there after I told Bob that the reviews of his shop would be posted to social media. I know nothing about cars but he explained everything and helped me with what I needed and that's all. No surprises. When I went to pick up my car, he did mention some other things I'd need to get fixed too and what they'd cost (kind of bummed me out but he was letting me know so there wouldn't be any surprises later on down the road which I appreciate). If I could give Bob zero stars, I would. Had to tow my boyfriend's 2004 BMW to a mechanic because it was leaking coolant. Heard about Bob's "cheap" prices so I went. He seems like a sweet guy at first but he's a total CROOK. I already knew that a coolant pipe was broken and needed to be replaced, I just didn't know which one it was. I knew this because I had it inspected by a different mechanic who didn't have time to fix the BMW. Bob said he could do the job, but it would cost $432. We knocked the price to $400 and expected a great job to be done. Bob also said that our reservoir tank wasn't acting compatible with the pressure checks. Mind you, we had just replaced our reservoir tank not even a month ago. He decides to steal our brand new tank and replace it with an old ass one. 2 days after we picked up the car, it was leaking coolant again. This time, at an even faster rate. My boyfriend had taken it back to him and complained because WTF BOB? $400 down the drain. Bob said that we had an oil leak as well, which wasn't true because oil isn't BLUE, fucking coolant is jackass. We just needed him to fix the coolant pipe he had promised to fix. Nothing got done. Anyway it's been 1 week and a half since. I now have to bring my mother down here to get through to his thick head so we can get our money's worth because we basically paid him to do diddly-squat. I highly recommend NEVER coming here and being tricked by his kindness. He'll probably take brand new parts off your car and replace them with old jacked parts like he did us. I absolutely adore Bob!!! He is awesome! I swear, he keeps my baby running beautifully! His prices are fair and if for some reason he doesn't find anything wrong, he tells you! He grisly is one of the last honest mechanics. He runs the shop by himself and is always busy so your car may stay over night if it's something more involved than an oil change. Just make sure that you go to HIS shop! The guys that have the other bays are not the best of character, in my opinion, they over charge. Where do i begin, i was looking for someone to rebuild my engine . I found this shop and wanted to give it a try because at the moment he gave me a reasonable price. But started noticing that he was being sloppy with the work he was leaving old parts that needed to be replace to save on money. Since the place he sent it to, to get machine n clean did not come out good the first time then he sent it out a second time and charged me for it. After the vehicle was done the vehicle was idling bad, timing was off, kept shutting down. I kept bringing it almost every weekend for him to fix but he could not find anything wrong. Each time he would see me he would be annoyed and didn't want to really spend time the time to fix it . Not even after charging me almost $5000 over a engine rebuild. I will never bring any of my vehicles here again, i think he is better only replacing lightbulbs or oil change. NO, I really wanted to write a fantastic review for Bob... he was such a nice guy. But he did a pretty lousy rushed job on my car... I'd honestly prefer to pick it late than drive around with the steering seizing up after I've just coughed up $900+ and told him I driver Uber, ...You know with suing passengers, and have a kid's child seat as well. Anyway, clueless Bob then stares back at me like 1 o'clock half struck when I pick up the car a second time, $300+ and I remind him I am doing Uber... yes this time he's got the right steering pump and "fluids", yes previously he'd dumped transmission red fluid in there, but he had managed to totally decorate the inside and outside of the car in grease... both, paw and ass prints all on the inside. A while ago, I was next door getting my car smog checked. I was in ridiculous need of an oil change, and the guy that did the smog check recommended I just pop over next door to Bob. I'm not too familiar with car things, and since I wasn't there for a repair, I can't say much. But he was very kind and personable, and I thought the price for the oil change was fair. It is so hard to find a good mechanic. Today was my first visit to Bob. I actually ended up using him by mistake because I thought he was a different mechanic I was looking to try. Long story short, he is very pleasant, open and honest, and explains everything to you, answering any questions you have. He takes the time to make sure you are comfortable with him and what he is going to do. I asked him to check and repair my brakes, which he did. The estimate was reasonable and the actual cost was less than the estimate. He is one of the few mechanics I've met during my lifetime who has integrity. (I've been driving for more than 40 years.) I don't usually recommend mechanics until I have had extensive experience with them, but I do plan to use him again. For now, based on this first visit, I'm giving him 5 stars. read more

My first review post ever. I don't like to write reviews, but my auto repair experience here is so good, I have to share it. I stumble upon this plaza at the corner of white ave. and arrow hwy. on a Friday afternoon. There are several auto shops in this plaza. Lucky me to stop at #108 Bob's auto electric & repair. I got a broken side mirror to repair. I actually went to several shops along arrow hwy before Bob's. They all told me it couldn't be repaired, buy a new one instead. The price they quoted ranges from $190 to above $220. Well, I almost gave up, and then decided to give one last try before ordering a new one. I stopped at Bob's. He told me since the mirror itself is not broken, he'll give a try, no fix, no fee. How can I argue with that deal! It turns out he not only fix the problem, he only asked for 50 bucks! Very honest and hard working guy. It's hard to find this kind of auto shop these days, when most shops only want to make quick bucks with easy work. Bob runs the business by himself, works for himself, he is his own boss, he treats customers with honesty and sincerity. He only charges $23 for oil change, by the way. read more

I would not trust this mechanic at all. He ripped me off. I had an power module out on my SUV. Bob said it was my fuel pump and would take 5 days to order. I went to the dealership 45 miles away to get the new fuel pump. He charged me 6hours to install it when the job took him less than 3 hours. He works on others cars while he is taking that time charging your hourly rate Come to find out it wasn't the fuel pump at all. He couldn't fix the problem and I was out 700$ for a new fuel pump I didn't even need and 6 hours of labor for a job that left me in a worse situation I had no choice but to go to the dealer to be told it was a power module and there was nothing wrong with the old fuel pump. Additionally he disconnected the wiring to my fan which caused the SUV to over heat because he disengaged the wiring for no reason Stay far away from this mechanic if you know what's good for your car and your wallet A complaint to the better business bureau has been done read more

I had Bob fix my fuel pump for my Toyota Tacoma back in August of 2015. The fuel pump he installed went out last month-Jan. 2017. I took it to another mechanic in Pomona, and the mechanic confirmed what I suspected. Bob installed a used fuel pump he most likely picked up at some pick-a-part place. He charged me $950.00 for labor and parts, he originally wanted $1000.00! I had the mechanic in Pomona put in genuine Toyota parts, and he charged me $800.00. My truck runs better. Bob is a great detailed and thorough mechanic. I originally took my car to a well known mechanic place with good reviews. They tried everything to fix my Ford Focus but was unsuccessful. They kept throwing parts at it and saying this is problem. After two days of them having my car they told me they cannot find problem. A tow truck driver recommended I have car towed to Bobs shop nearby. Bob immediately started at my car checking everything in detail to trace problem. He was determined to find problem even with no engine light or code showing on vehicle. It is very difficult to diagnose problem on vehicle with no codes or engine scan. He found problem in a few hours not days like other place. His prices are reasonable considering your getting solid work done. You can buy the parts yourself and bring to him if you like. He will explain to you in detail what needs to be done and how he will do it. He has 30 yrs experience so your not getting the high school graduate kid that most places hire these days.
