There are apple pieces and it's glazed on top. The dough has just a tiny bit of chewy texture to it. Would also get this again! 5/5 Strawberry Cheesecake ($5.95) This one caught my eye first and also recommended by the staff member there. This one is quite sweet and also huge! There are cream cheese and crumbs on top. The strawberry filling is the sweetest part of the donut. It wasn't filled very evenly inside, but there is still a decent amount in there. Stopped here while I was visiting the farmers market at the grove. The farmers market is always insanely packed on the weekends, so of course there was a huge line for this place. Nonetheless, the service was good and they helped up out pretty fast. We got a couple sprinkle and glazed donuts, the sprinkle ones definitely looked like the viral dot cakes that are tending at the moment. While getting lunch at the Original Farmer's Market, we saw Bob's. The display case was absolutely full of delicious looking baked goods. Our plan wasn't to get any sweets, but we changed our minds. Two of our favorites were the glazed old fashioned donut and the apple fritter. I am a huge Apple fritter fan and this was one of the best that I've ever had. I purchased donuts here on a Friday night after walking around the farmer's market. They have an awesome happy hour deal. During the last hour of business they sell what's left at a significant discount. I gave in and ordered half a dozen for $6. Despite it being the end of the night, the donuts were still pretty fresh and the quality was good. What wasn't good was the rancid old overused oil taste, which was so disappointing because these probably would have been awesome otherwise. Stan's in Westwood was my favorite, but sadly it closed some years ago, along with the theater across the street and the doughnut shop that briefly replaced it. Many weather-resistant circular tables and lime green folding chairs are set up along the concrete between vendors. Bob's is located within the East Patio, on the Grove side of the Market. The ruby all-caps lettering pops against the narrow stall's coin-gray faux-shingled facade. The bright red signage and distinct aroma of fried dough stick out among Bob's more austere neighboring stands. Within the stand, the walls are lined with trays upon trays of doughnuts. My partner and I arrived mid-morning on a weekday. We faced a minimal queue, and the frill-free service was appropriately quick. I opted for Bob's famous oversized Cinnamon Roll. The large, fluffy pastry was well-iced outside, but the interior had only a modest cinnamon schmear -- the complete product was a rung higher than average, but nothing particularly memorable. The cinnamon roll set me back $3.50 -- a price that would feel excessive, except that the bill came with parking validation. Continuously have been going down hill... So sad. Not sure if the owner changed but their donuts aren't the same anymore. The apple fritters used to be the best but not it taste blend and doughy. There was a remodel of their space at Farmers Market in November 2025, including new display case, new baking equipment, and apparently new employees. Unfortunately, now the donuts do not look or taste the same -- especially the traditional "crumb-cake" donuts that my family has purchased for decades. Bob's Coffee & Doughnuts was established in 1947. It's one of the OG vendors at the Original Farmers Market. You can't go wrong with any of the variations of the doughnuts sold here. They have Dinosaurs, Kitties, New Orleans Beignets, Raised Glazed etc. We ordered an Apple Fritter and a Raised Glazed. They were really delicious doughnuts. We'll be back! This is the first time in 50 years I need to say Bob's needs a new baker. I took my mom and wife to Bob's for the new Orleans beignet. Today, I ordered 6 of them with coffee and tea when my wife and mom bite into the beignet and said something is different with them. We spent a while trying to figure it out. I walked back and told the lady the issue. She offered other types of donuts, and there was still something different. Later on, I am going to have my kids taste them and ask them what they think. Been going here for some years now and while being a local in LA (not in this neighborhood), I still keep coming back. The donuts are exactly how it should be made with the perfect amount of "airy"-ness to it and the ice blended mocha drink is my favorite! There's coffee and mocha in this and it's great. I have yet to see another place have something similar. While there's so many great donuts, my favorite go-to is their sugar one. Every server is nice and it is easy to order and pay. I hate to give Bob's Coffee only 4 stars since it's an LA institution, and you really should come and visit this place even if it's just for that reason, but best coffee it is not. It has good strong coffee that will keep you up and get you through your workday for sure. So it's the best in that way. And you will consistently get the same type of coffee no matter when you come too. The doughnut is not cheap and not exceptional either. But it's tradition! Parking is available on the streets surrounding Farmer's Market and the parking structures here... but good luck finding an empty spot on the street.
