No seating so expect to take your goodies out in a big, pink box. Happy to report no price gouging from this celebrity. Donuts ran between $3.50-$4, & were soft, fresh, & made without cutting corners. I tried: -- Boston Cream Velvety Donut: true to its name, the chocolate coating was velvety smooth. Not-too-sweet custard filling. -- Maple Pig: classic sweet & salty combo, although after one bite, I preferred the bites without bacon; the maple glaze was so good, I didn't want anything interfering with its flavor. -- Margarita: make-you-lips-pucker tart from the lime glaze & lime zest. Definitely unique, & flavored exactly like the drink, minus tequila. -- Pineapple Fritter: I always expect apple when it comes to fritters so the pineapple was an unexpected twist. -- Vegan Coco Loco: my least favorite of the bunch. My tastebuds do not prefer vegan donuts, but the rest of my group raved about this one. The donuts here are pretty good! I'm only giving it a 4 star out of 5 due to the fact that I did not like everything that my gf and I ordered. I love the flavors here. Abuelita is lovely; like a warm cup of hot cocoa, but in a fluffy donut! The mangonada is a fun diversion from the regular variety, not too sugary. And the horchata is indulgent, so creamy! The OG is okay, but it's hard to beat my local favorites in the glazed category. The cumpleaños is a favorite with the kiddos, like a mini Simpson's donut. I gotta say it...for full transparency...sometimes the donuts don't taste fresh. Came back to Trejo's Donuts for a second visit, and the donuts are just as good as I remembered. They are delicious, creative, and honestly like little pieces of art. I will always love a donut place that has good vegan options. They also have great coffee and not just the basic drip options you find in other shops. I purchased 3 of the 4 vegan donuts they had available and finished them all in one seating. My favorite one was probs the vegan berry. Perfect mix of tangy berry and donut sweetness. The vanilla latte was great as well. Could've been a bit stronger on the espresso though. They have an iced chochata that is a vegan take to horchata and which I will have to try my next time here. My one star is based on the fact that I witnessed the white guy with lots of tattoos that makes the donuts subside go into the parking lot and start" sharpening " The dough cutting tool on the cement bumpers that stop cars in the parking spaces. When I told the man working the counter he looked at me like I'm crazy and said " now tell me why would he do that?" Idk why I just know he did. I loved Trejo's donuts! I'm going to say this first -- I'm DEFINITELY coming back! We were staying in the area and we noticed a pink building with a huge mural of Danny Trejo's face on the front. I said to my bf, "Babe, we gotta go there!" and so we did....the next morning! There is a small parking lot with plenty of parking, surrounded by other stores in a small shopping center. I can't remember what was around but it is in a fairly busy area -- it's Hollywood and I was just focused on getting me some donuts. When we walked in, there were a few people in line. Woohoo! So we didn't wait too long to order. I did have some time to check out some of Danny Trejo's merch. I ended up grabbing a sticker while I waited in line. They had a good selection of donuts. So many caught my eye, I ended up ordering a huge box and a latte. Everything totaled up to $40. Eek! My favorite donut was the abuelita donut. It was so delicious, I should've bought 2! Trejo's Coffee & Donuts is located on the corner of Santa Monica Blvd and Highland Avenue in a small strip mall. It is impossible to miss the bright pink building right on the corner. There are almost two dozen parking spots, and it was easy to find one an early Sunday afternoon. The shop is fairly small with no seating outside, and only a small one-foot-wide bar top against the front wall where a few people could fit. In addition to donuts, they also have coffee, and various other drinks. You can also purchase Trejo's coffee beans, hot sauces, and some merchandise. We purchased a half-dozen to take home try later that day. Here are my comments in order of the picture. Horchata: Very good and a little heavy. This was the most indulgent donut of them all, with its large swirled horchata buttermilk frosting on top. The cinnamon dusting on top adds some nice flavor contrast. Quinceanera: Just ok. The fruity pebbles give the donut a nice crunch, but they are way too sweet and overpower everything else. Margarita: Excellent! This had a great citrusy flavor with its thin layer of lime frosting and lime zest on top. I could only taste the salt a little bit which is probably a good thing. If you don't like strong citrus flavor, you might not like this one. Mangonada: Excellent! The mango glaze has the perfect amount of sweetness, and the Tajin adds a perfect spicy tang for a great flavor pairing. The tamarind candied mango slices on top are an added bonus. Da Berry Bomb: Very good. This is not your typical sugar bomb jelly donut. Both the berry glaze and filling had a sweetness level somewhere between light and medium. The fresh berries on top are a nice touch. Vegan Machette Maple: Good. She wanted to try the vegan maple donut and the frosting had a good maple flavor. I'll take mine regular with bacon please! Pineapple Fritter: We wanted to try one of these, but unfortunately they were sold out by 2:30pm. Most of the donuts are on the pricey side around $4 each. The base donuts were all very fresh, a good size, and a little on the doughy texture side. They were not greasy or oily at all. In addition to the six flavors we tried, there are others to choose from. I wouldn't drive out here again just to get these, but it was fun to visit and try some unique donut flavor combinations. Showed up for some coffee and donuts before we head back out to the IE. The young blonde employee did not seem welcoming AT ALL. No smile , not enthusiasm, no care . Rbf. While as a mother and aunt of half our party of 10 , I ignored the rude customer service and tried to just be the bigger person. .as much as I didn't want to support this behavior financially(nearly $80 and left a tip ) I still wanted the children to enjoy their visit . I took a bus in the wrong direction, got off at this intersection to switch directions and saw Trejo's Coffee & Donuts! I took it as a sign from the universe that I HAD to try their doughnuts! I asked which was the staff member's favorite and she mentioned that the Mangonada was popular! I can see why, it has a thin sweet glaze that has a powerful flavor. Plus with the added additions of Tajin and tamarind candy strips, it's an amazing journey of sweet, salty, and spicy. The coffee was hot, smooth and a good flavor! If I wasn't going to be on the road all day, I would have bought a dozen on the spot to try so many more flavors. The shop is really cute with lots of fun things to buy. Super fruity, super fresh, and the perfect balance of sweet without going overboard. The Original Glazed surprised me too -- light, not greasy, and way better than your typical glazed donut. I had to try Trejo's Donuts while visiting LA, hoping I was lucky enough to run into Danny Trejo. I was lucky enough to get some tasty donuts; my favorite flavors were 'Mangonada' with mango glaze, Tajín, and tamarind candy, very sweet and tangy. 'Maple Pig' glazed with maple and topped with candied bacon, very sweet and salty. I was also lucky enough to try the 'El Diablo' limited-edition donut with tart blood orange buttermilk glaze on black dough, spicy and sweet. I was in the area and saw that they have a pineapple fritter. I'm a big apple fritter fan so I thought I would give this a shot. The shop is right on Santa Monica and Highland. You can't miss the bright pink building. The inside seemed clean, the staff was nice. It is a small shop but it is like most donut places. I will say the for how much the donuts are, it did not hit the spot. These were not the worst donuts I've had, but they were certainly not the best donuts. I went with the pineapple fritter and the margarita. Pineapple Fritter - 2/5 - The pineapple fritter was pretty soggy. It just had that kinda oily greasy taste to it. The pieces of pineapple were a nice contrast to an apple fritter. I think there is potential or maybe I just got a not great batch, but it didn't hit the spot for me. Margarita Donut - 3/5 - I actually really like this one. It was a traditional yeast donut with a lime/salt glaze. The lime really comes through and give it a bright tartness. I will say that the donut itself also had kind of a greasiness to it so the dough had that left over oil taste. Cozy pink Coffee & Donut shop on Highland Avenue & Santa Monica Blvd worth the stop. Trejo's C&D has a pretty cool assortment of donuts including several vegan ones, great decor and an easy layout. The cold brew is solid. Options for hot or cold bevs including teas, lattes, espresso, cappuccino, and a variety of roasts, syrups, plus milks with serval non-dairy selects (like oat and almond) The service is prompt, personal and efficient. I will say they do a ton of pickup and delivery (third party app) orders as people were in and out in a flash while I enjoyed the vegan Berry. Their vegan Cinnamon Crumb is next on my list. I do wish they had the Pineapple Fritter or a Fritter available in the vegan style of their donuts as those tend to be a favorite. At Trejo's you can do Coffee Travelers, various Dozens and Breakfast Burritos. Not to mention purchase a variety of merch, plus they can do catering. Parking is a shared lot directly behind them with Everytable, Subway and a lot of eateries. You can find some metered street parking as well. Tall table inside (I believe with stools), but not much room - also city bus benched in front for LA Metro. I was on the go to an event at the LGBT center around the corner from here so it was perfect to just grab and go. Happy I stopped in and definitely will again soon. read more

I was expecting something... different. We got a maple pig (bacon on top) and a pineapple fritter. I had high hopes! The fritter was very weird (I love pineapple) and the glaze was grainy/gritty and super sweet. The maple pig was just disappointing - it had a lot of chew - at one point I compared it to a "bad bagel". It didn't have a donut feel at all. The bacon was sparse and very chewy. I like Danny Trejo, I like his Mexican food in the Farmers' Market, but I do not like his donuts. They are overly sweet, overly iced to the point of being soggy, and heavy. Oh, and they are expensive. I give credit for high quality ingredients and a desire to do well. Maybe these are simply not my "type," which I prefer to be simpler, lighter, crisp, and not so cloying.
