This place serves a good, solid breakfast, but nothing spectacular that will knock the socks off your tastebuds. They were very accommodating for such a large group of people, and it was nice to see that they managed to fit us all in. Arrived around 2pm looking for breakfast type food. There was a sign that says "please wait to be seated" so we waited at the door. The waitress sat us in a booth, and did not give us menus. I ended up having to go grab them for my family and myself. While we were ordering, we asked what was in the beef stew, and she commented, "oh! Did I give you a specials menus?" To which we responded, "you didn't give us ANY menus.. soooo no". They must have been understaffed, or she was new because we had to flag the girl down every time we needed something. I ordered a vegetable omelet with rye toast and it came with home fries. The eggs were ok, I'm pretty sure they just threw pico de Gallo into the center of the eggs with some canned mushrooms and call it a veggie omelet. The home fries must have been sitting out since morning since they serve breakfast all day, they were completely inedible. The rye toast with butter was the only thing that I enjoyed eating. When we were done, we tried to flag the girl down for our check but she was too busy stocking the cooler to pay attention so we just went up to the front to pay on our way out of the door. My Wife and I stopped at Bob's for breakfast on our way to an Estate Sale nearby. Nice looking place and very clean from what we could tell. I ordered The Big One and the wife had a bacon, cheese and green pepper omelet. She enjoyed her omelet, looked to be cooked perfectly. TBO was just basic eggs, bacon, sausage, toast and homefries. The first three were fine, toast was a bit burnt(surprised they even served it like that, should've said something) and the homefries looked to be of the frozen from a bag variety. Very disappointing with them. Reasonably priced for the portions they serve, a good amount. Apparently, our waitress, Peggy, had an issue with the amount of time it took for us to decide on what we wanted to order. I didn't hear it, but the wife said that Peggy asked if we were ready to order and that the menu was only 3 pages... wtf? I'm not a confrontational typed of customer, but Peggy would not have liked my response had I heard what she said. They were not busy. Went here for lunch on an impulse on our way from one place to another. There was a big sign saying 'Kid Menu' and plenty of cars in the parking lots, so it was promising from the start. Just traveling through to Lake George and spotted Bob's. Great choice for lunch. My husband had the kielbasa casserole, he ate the whole thing it was so good. I had fried cod. It was done perfectly. They let me swap the fries for mashed potatoes. Real homemade potatoes with little chunks. Just the way I like it. Staff was friendly and kept our glasses filled. The food has only gotten better. It is tiny on the inside and could maybe use some updating, but everything else is perfect and I wouldn't have them change a thing! In the spirit of full disclosure, I have to admit that my wife and I have only been to Bob's once and she had a hamburger while I had two hot dogs. But that's a real indicator. When was the last time you even considered much less ordered a hot dog at a restaurant? I had a chili dog and one with mustard and kraut. Both were terrific. But the two most important factors started with the simple, well cooked food and that was served to a surprising clientele. What a mix! My wife and I love love love this place. The waitresses have always been really friendly, the food is inexpensive, and has always been good. Always. I work about a 10 min drive away, and have been here for lunch about 8 times total now (moved back to the area in August 2011). Love the foot-long hotdogs with kraut and mustard. Yum. Yum. Can be a little tight, especially when the skiers come, and those groups are usually pretty big. Took my wife's parents and they loved it. Right up their alley because the staff is...how would you describe it...old school country? I dunno if I got that right. I think this place is more attractive to the older folks. This red barn on the side of the road was a second home to us on our vacation to the Berkshires! Our first visit was for breakfast. We had the mixed berry pancakes, they were heavenly. They serve artificial maple syrup for free, but you can pay 1$ or so for some Vermont maple syrup. The service was great, even though the place was full. The food came out within 10 minutes! Our waitress was a really nice person, who cared about you and your group. She made us feel welcome and never hesitated to get us anyting we needed.
