Great little restaurant with delicious Polish food. Staying in the Great Barrington area but made our way to Bob's because I wanted the Polish platter. It did not disappoint. Along with very good kielbasa, the kapusta, and golomki were also very good. Mashed potatoes on the platter weren't even necessary. My husband had the shepherds pie, he enjoyed it, but my platter was definitely the better choice. They have a big menu with breakfast all day and other interesting lunch or dinner choices. If I had the chance, I would have stopped in again before leaving town. Very friendly service as well. read more

I'd give this place 3.5 stars overall. I found this place based on a recommendation by the staff at the Inn we were staying at. She batted two for two so figured this third suggestion would be fine. She was right! This side of the road diner was very inviting - simple and cozy. Cool counter or booth seating if you don't want a regular table. My family and I were excited to see the menu given the Breakfast All Day signage. Yes, we're suckers for eggs anytime of the day. Most people would agree I'm sure. Between the entrees and desserts offered, it was so hard to make a clear choice. And like diners in general, they cover so much territory, it kept our meal options interesting but also all over the place. If I were rating this place on service, it'd easily get four stars but some of the food was just so so. The staff were all pleasant and very friendly even though we arrived 1 hour to close. There were only a few patrons there when we arrived so it was pretty quiet overall. That explains the early closing hours (8pm). It's a suburban hood not a college town so the hours around here are even shorter than the dining options the next town over. Most people don't even eat out much at night I suppose given these hours. The veal with spaghetti was a miss, dry and very thin. Was not a fan. The breakfast dishes were spot on and the French Onion Soup was good. A tad salty towards the bottom but I wished they baked it a bit longer as I like some Browning on the top of the cheese. The other good dish was the lemon meringue dessert. Fluffy and not too tart, it was very enjoyable. This place also serves wine in a box and local canned beer. Like I said, plenty for all. With five to six soup of the day choices and desserts galore, maybe just come for that and skip the food. LOL read more

ordered a breakfast sandwich that said $6.75 on the menu and ended up getting charged $10.00 because it was on a bagel. the waitress said that a bagel was an option for the breakfast sandwich and mentioned nothing about the "upcharge" neither did the menu. the manager came over and backed up her waitress and I had to pay for a rediculously expensive breakfast sandwich which was sub par. never going to Bobs again, they just lost lifelong customers for scamming their buyers. read more

We walked in and waited for 20 minutes to get seated and when we finally were we waited 15 minutes to order drinks and food and then waited 20 minutes for food. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and the tortilla was really greasy and it wasn't crispy at all. So overall my experience was not good read more

We stood waiting for a table for about 10 minutes with plenty of available tables but we were ignored. We should have left right then but I was hungry. After being seated it took another 10 minutes to get a menu and I think we ordered after another 5 minutes. The food finally arrived 40 minutes after arriving at the restaurant and drinks arrived a bit later. I saw others that placed their orders after us get their food quicker. Just came here for lunch, had the kielbasa rice casserole (I had never seen that being served anywhere else), it was served straight out of the oven, it had the perfect balance of savory and sweet and sour (from the sauerkraut), I ate every single bit of it. Total waste of $$! Coffee only redeeming quality. Ordered a made from scratch Belgian waffle with blueberries. Could have been good, right? Nope. Cold ego waffle with frozen shriveled blueberries. The restaurant smells overwhelmingly like sauerkraut, but the food and service can't be beat! I felt a little bit bad for dragging my mother-in-law here, since she wanted to go somewhere fancier. The fact is, when I'm travelling, I want to experience the local flavour, and if I'm in the country, you better believe I'm going to a place with "country" in the name. We had a hard time figuring out what to order, since everything sounded SO SO GOOD. All the soups were homemade and shown on a board near the front. Despite our incredible indecisiveness, the server was unbelievably understanding and friendly, and didn't seem bothered at all. We ended up going with the broiled scrod, a caesar salad and the chuckwagon casserole. Everything was delicious and in huge portions. I kind of regret not getting some of their Eastern European offerings, since it seemed a bit out of place and would probably be super amazing. After a lot of unpleasantness, rudeness and a unnecessary wait at Olde Forge just down the road, we left and found Bob's Country Kitchen. The best decision ever! The staff were attentive and personable, willing to point out their specialties and what they're known best for. They offer locally brewed beer and a number of homemade desserts. The food came out quickly, and was quite tasty. Highly recommend! I'm not a big fan of hot dogs, but based on the server's recommendation I ordered one. I gotta tell you, it was very delicious. Interestingly, immediately after I tasted my pancakes, I realized that there was no salt in the batter. I checked with the server who said that they never put salt in their batters. Ok. I ended up salting the tops of my pancakes which caused a raised eyebrow from my husband. However, the sprinkle of salt did make them palatable. Coffee is ok 5/10. Not hot enough and not strong enough. Small serving of home fries that my husband rated 4/10, (not enough and not fully cooked) the English muffin he rated 2/10. He said that his omelette was good and rated that 8/10. This restaurant appears to be a very popular spot in town if the crowds are any indication. Service is prompt and friendly. My family stopped here for lunch an hour before they were closing after a hike and it took about 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. Once seated about 15 minutes later I finally asked one of the employees clearing tables if we had a server coming by and she nodded and walked away. A few minutes later the server came by and we put in orders for drinks and lunch. The servers all seemed grumpy and not happy. Another table asked for a dessert and the waitress rudely asked, "to go??". When the food finally came it was about an hour from when we walked in the door. This great little restaurant deserves way better than its current status of three and a half stars. We stopped in for a late breakfast on a Sunday morning. Despite the dining room being packed, we only waited for about five minutes. Our entire party of four totally enjoyed our meals... my Western Omelette was one of the best I've ever had. The place was clean and the staff was very efficient. Our server (Jacqueline) was operating in high-gear but still managed to be friendly and upbeat. Haven't been to Bob's in a few years but figured, because of it's past, it would never disappoint. Holy smoke, who are these people? Our waitress was friendly and everything started out fine. I ordered the fried chicken, other members of our party ordered Liver and onions and a Gulumpki. I got a 4 piece fried Squab dinner. I kick myself for not taking pictures of Itsy bitsy chicken pieces. They were tiny, really really small miniature chicken pieces. The wing was no more than 2" wide, the leg just a little bit longer. About one bite for each piece. If you reconstructed the uncooked chicken it couldn't have been more than a pound. More likely less. On top it of the baby chicken they over cooked it, hard and dry with lots of sharp edges. Note to chef, Tiny chickens cook really fast! The Cole slaw was okay and the French fries were good. That was a $15 dinner! My brother said his liver was okay but complained the mashed potato's were instant. For a restaurant boasting about it's home cooking this is deceitful. Again our waitress was so nice I didn't want to see her cry so I walked out without making eye contact. This place used to be so damn good. Someone please take a picture of the chicken! read more

Came to this place for Brunch on a Friday. Servers are very friendly. Food is also very good. The only con would be that tables are a little tight or close to each other. You can pass the salt & pepper to your neighbor easily. The friendly and family oriented environment makes you feel that you know everyone around you. Overall experience was above average. Was in the area so with lack of any other restaurants open to dine in we stopped. We had been there years ago for breakfast so i thought lunch would becas good... well, the waitress was nice and very friendly telling me about how they made the turkey there and slso the cole slaw. I ordered the turkey dinner and was disappointed! Pieces of the turkey were very dry and old tasting.. the cole slaw was way to chunky and the mashed potatoes were warm and tasteless. The turkey club my husband got was ok but we did tell them not toasted bread and it came out lightly toasted likevthey forgot and didn't want to make it over again Oh well live and learn! read more

Two Eggs, Ham, Toast, Coffee for around $6? Almost sounds like a NYC diner special. We ordered a tuna melt, a bacon & cheese omelet, and corned beef hash. Both were tasty, but prices just seemed a bit inflated considering the location. The bread was fresh and soft, the omelet portion was generous, and the hash was just a bit too salty. Service wasn't too slow for a 'country' kitchen, and they were definitely friendly. Coffee refill took a while though. Overall, this place was just okay, not a place i would rave about or recommend. I wanted to come here more than once before writing a review. I'm glad I did! I confirmed my findings from the first visit! The Country Kitchen is a MUST EAT! We did breakfast twice and had a variety of things - omelettes, pancakes, French toast, plain old eggs and bacon. It was all very good! The coffee is great too! On a different note, it has to be one of the cleanest places I've eaten in! Well cared for and the staff keeps on top of the tables. The staff is all very friendly and nice. They check on their tables regularly, and are always pleasant. In all, if you are here in the area, you have to eat here!! read more

Checked out the other reviews here on Yelp as I was hunting for a good breakfast/lunch restaurant near where I was staying in Hancock, MA, in the Berkshires. I'm sooo glad that I dropped by! I was seated prompted by a friendly young lady; had my waitress greeting me and ready to take my order within just a couple of minutes; and, my delicious, piping hot food was served within 7 minutes after being seated. But there was no rush here. Most of the other customers (families with kids, seniors, out-of-towners, locals) were all smiling, chatting and relishing their food, as I did. Do yourself a favor and seek out Bob's Country Kitchen when you're in the area. Now I'm eager to go back and try out their dinner entrees especially their Polish house speciality the Golomki (stuffed cabbage) and their desserts including the Pineapple Cream Pie. read more
