Bob's Grill has been a mainstay on the Ocean City boardwalk for more than 90 years. Obviously it has done a lot right to survive for that long a time. I have heard that in the 1950s and 1960s it was considered one of the cool places for young peeps to hang out. And it was very tied in to the lifeguards from the Ocean City Beach patrol who met and ate here. Well those days are kinda over as it is more a family establishment now with dining areas on two levels. But there are nostalgic photos on the walls harking back to an earlier Ocean City and Bob's Grill. I needed a late breakfast or early lunch recently (turns out breakfast was my only option) and so I stopped into Bob's. Service was a little bit scattered from the beginning. This is a seat yourself establishment and after a while I had to ask if anyone was assigned to my table. Everyone was friendly but I did get served breakfast and then had to ask for silverware. The breakfast I ordered is not a fair one prob to judge a restaurant on but I wanted to try this dish. It was creamed chipped beef on rye toast with hash browns. The cream chipped beef didn't do it for me as it was bland in taste, very glutinous, and frankly could have used more beef. However I don't know how to compare it to other renditions as I had never eaten it before. Oh well. Bob's still has a cool, retro look, one can hear the seagulls and smell the salt air blowing off the nearby ocean, and the wait staff did try to be helpful when you had to ask for something. read more

We keep giving this place a chance. All I can say is it is horrible. Way overpriced and the quality of food is terrible. Our latest visit will be our last. The scrambled eggs were like a pile of cold crumbs, the porkroll tasted rancid, the Diet Coke was flat, the coffee was watered down. The best part of the meal was the toast. When I got my order and took my first bite it was cold. Again the toast was the only warm item on my plate. Sorry Bobs grill, you lost another customer. We have you one to many chances only to be more disappointed each time, your establishment Just keeps getting worse. Don't go here you will be disappointed! Absolutely pathetic experience. From the second we walked in, it was obvious customer service isn't a priority at Bob's Grill. We stood there waiting to be seated while staff ignored us, and not one employee had the decency to greet us or even crack a smile. Things only got worse when our overpriced drinks arrived--with ants floating in them. Yes, ants. When we pointed it out, the waitress acted like it was no big deal and simply offered to make another one. Why would anyone want another drink from a place that can't even keep bugs out of their beverages? We told her we were leaving instead of risking eating there, and unbelievably, she still expected us to pay for the ant-filled drinks. No sincere apology, no accountability--just terrible customer service from start to finish. To make matters worse, the bathrooms were filthy. They smelled strongly of urine, looked neglected, and honestly had the appearance of a prison restroom. If that's what customers can see, it doesn't inspire much confidence in the cleanliness of the rest of the establishment. Between the indifferent staff, contaminated drinks, dirty restrooms, and complete lack of customer service, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. Save your money and go somewhere that values cleanliness and treats customers with basic respect. Bob's Grill won't be getting another dollar from us. read more

Premium prices for low quality food. Two eggs with toast, two chocolate chip pancakes, 6 frozen chicken nuggets, a low quality double cheeseburger (fries not included), and a rubbery lobster salad that smelled like a hamster cage. Drinks were one "large" 10oz Apple juice, one "large" 10oz orange juice, one lemonade, one cup of coffee, one chocolate milk, and one cup of NJ tap water. Total price with all taxes, fees, and tip included came out to $105.55. I gave the waitress, Kaylee, her 20% tip because she was a good waitress, however, I would not recommend this establishment for a family to eat out at. Take a nice long walk down the boardwalk in the morning and grab some of their delicious cinnamon sugar donuts on your way home - the family will not be disappointed! Wow! I am so glad I didn't pay attention to all the bad reviews on here, and instead went with the recommendation of a long time resident of Ocean City to check Bob's Grill out. We had no problems whatsoever. We walked in, seated ourselves, got drinks and ordered, and received our food all within no more than ten minutes or so. Like my husband said to the waitress, it was like they knew we were coming. Granted, it is early in the season and the place wasn't very busy, but we loved it. Our waitress was a nice young girl and she did a great job. The Greek Omelet I had was fantabulous and my husband didn't have any complaints about his corned beef hash with eggs, home fries and toast. The home fries were red skin potatoes with onions in them, and they were seasoned well. The prices didn't seem that high to me - I mean, you expect that when you're right on the ocean. Picked up about four donuts on a bike ride on the boardwalk. They were just made and came out hot and warm. Note, they only take cash but that should be synonymous with most of the other businesses in Ocean City. The donuts are absolutely incredible. They're warm, fresh, and very flavorful vanilla cake donuts - which are my absolute favorite. I got mine with chocolate frosting and sprinkles, and the frosting melted off the donut in the best way. The place is also right off the beach, so it was nice to watch the surf and chow down. However, I would pass on the regular breakfast and dinner options. It's very standard diner fare, and I personally don't think that it's worth the money. Instead, check out some of the fun options on the Boardwalk. But definitely stop by for plenty of donuts! read more

Service was good - we got a sweet old lady. I wish I remembered her name! Food wasn't so good. I got the strawberry waffle. The waffle was good but the strawberries were something I avoided. The bacon came with extra bacon, which is good because only half of it was crispy. Also, the juice servings are super small. Also worth noting the whole worker situation felt weird. I'm sure nothing bad is going on, but all the waitresses being teenage girls wearing short skirts for their uniforms and all the cleaning staff being teenage boys just feels weird and uncomfortable. If you've ever seen those funny 2 and 4 seat, side-by-side bicycle's on the Boardwalk in Ocean City, you can be sure they came from Bob's. For years I thought it would be fun to try one, and I finally got the chance during a family reunion. We rented a four-pedal surrey, which actually seats 6 if you count the kid seats in the front. The surreys are nice because they're well maintained, so you don't have to work hard to navigate them. My 80 year old-grandfather with respiratory failure even helped pedal and it didn't tax him because everyone pedals together. The surreys are also nice becase they have a canopy to shade you from the sun. My only complaint is that the rental fee is kinda steep. Not outrageous, but pricey none-the-less. Also, the rental kiosk is actually off the Boardwalk on street level and it can be a little tough to get the surrey up the Boardwalk ramp. As I recall we got Bob's staff to help get it up the ramp. Lot's of fun. I recommend renting a surrey because it's a fun activity the whole family can enjoy. It allowed 4 generations of my family to spend an hour of quality family time together doing something memorable. read more

I spent $43 here for 3 people. We got minimal food and it was absolutely horrible. Hair in the bacon, raw sunny side up eggs, runny omelette, and do not get me started on the Home- Fries. It's a great place for breakfast and been there a few times. Went there with the extended family on vacation and one of my younger relatives has a very bad food allergy- but we are always careful and transparent. It's very, very rare we go somewhere where we are told "sorry, we have absolutely nothing". Most places will offer specific selections or try to accommodate. We also try to go when it's not busy so it doesn't create undue burden. It was off season and very slow and we literally were told, nope...we can't do anything. We were one of 5 tables in the whole restaurant. Anyway, the server was fantastic and we all felt badly for her but we had to leave. We weren't going to eat while one person in our party couldn't. So a group of us were ready to go out to eat dinner around 530 and we were very hungry we were about 8 people including four kids. Every place was very busy and had long wait times. We stumbled upon this place and we saw it was pretty empty. I quickly looked at the rating on yelp and saw it was barely 3 stars so I was scared to say the least. It's location is either the begging of the board walk to at the end depending on which side you are entering in from. The staff is super sweet and very nice and helpful. The night before we went to another place and had seafood which was disappointing but was willing to sea how this place would fan out. I asked the waiter what was popular and she said the lobster tail and crab cake platter so decided to go with that. We also had calamari and clam strips as appetizers. Everything was fabulous I had asked the waitress if the food was fresh or frozen and she said fresh and decided to believe her it tasted fresh to me and I really enjoyed the meal and service. One reviewer had commented about their bathroom and they are correct they are old and in need of some tlc and their were flies everywhere in the bathroom. Less than basic food. My wife had a ceasar salad which was wilted iceberg lettuce, bottled dressing and a cold piece of grilled chicken. I had a less than interesting burger and what seemed like Cysco french fries. They do not accept credit cards and to add insult to this oversight, they provide an ATM with a $3.50 fee. Bob's is a staple on Ocean City Boardwalk. I have been coming here since I was a little girl. Always great memories & family fun!! They are celebrating 90 years next year. Recently, I had their Asian Chicken salad- grilled chicken, marinated 24hrs, lettuce, tangy sauce. It was so tasty! Another one of my favorites is a lobster roll. Chunks of fresh lobster & light mayonnaise, celery, scallions. Yum! Burgers are on point The view is amazing. It's ocean front ,on the second floor; so, you can see forever. To start service is terrible everyone is rude. I was with a group of 4 my friend ordered a bowl of soup and got a cup and got her food first maybe 20 mins later the next person got his food another 20 minutes I got my blt. I asked for extra mayo and got no mayo. Then another 10 minutes later the last person got his caesar salad with no fork and there was a hair in it. This is a review on the Surrey/Bike Rental Part. Bobs is ok. I am a little torn on how to review this. They are the ONLY rental available on this far end of the boardwalk, so they kind of have a monopoly. Their prices are priced WAY higher than the others, so if It was convenient from my house, I would not have rented from them. When I asked if they would lower the price a little, they were simply unappologetic, again because they know they are the only option, or you can drive down to one of the others. I can say, if it was JUST for that...I would have given them 2 stars, but when we did rent, because it was end of season, they were very accommodating on the time, giving us an extra 20 minutes on a 1 hour rental, which was nice of them...so that is why I am giving this 3 stars. I imagine that if this was in season though, i would have just been frustrated and felt ripped off... read more
