Bob's is open again! Yippee! Bob's back open with a few subtle changes. What remains the same is the amazing food and the same sweet staff. OK so the parking lot and interior are not your traditional polished restaurant but if you can look past that, you'll get an amazing breakfast. I haven't visited for any other meal. Odd and a bit of a ramshackle, my sisters and I go for its quirkiness. The quality and amount of food is impressive. We always have a "doggie bag". We enjoyed omelettes yesterday and their homemade bread toasted. Delish! The restaurant was packed and the young server was working the tables like a seasoned professional. She was very sweet. Oh boy. Where to begin. Let me start with saying our waitress deserved her $20 tip on a $30 dollar meal. She was sweet, kind, maybe tired a bit tired because she works one too many jobs and people don't tip her right. With that said, pulling in there there were cars. Maybe 10. Ok sign. Pulling around to find a place to park there was a baby stroller and trash outside a home behind the establishment. Not worrisome at this point, not really. Walking in. Plants outside. dead. Planters. Two. Dead. Food. Options ranging from eggs, monte crisco, blt, omletes, breakfast pizza, philly wraps, chicken wraps, pancakes.. you get it. I'm a bit tired and don't want to push a place down but leaving the four of us we were very concerned about ecoli. Covid was last thing on our mind. $4 for a chicken wrap the size of my mother's head. And a chimichanga with grey meat sauce on top of it. Health services please visit. Do not go there if you are a clean freak. It is an old place with old tables, chairs and booths. It could use a good dusting. You go there because the food is amazing and the service is fine. Where to begin. We live relatively close to this establishment so my husband and I decided to give it a go. Bad idea. People who call this place a dive are absolutely correct. The entire place is a nightmare. The restaurant is painted maroon with red and green Christmas lights. I could barely see- everything was so dark in there, however, it was probably a blessing that I couldn't really see what was going on in there. I ordered coffee and it was the worst cup of coffee I've ever had. It tasted like Luke warm bean flavored water. The coffee color was tan. Other posters stated the coffee was always refilled which was true- they kept asking if I wanted more coffee, however, I'm not sure why they couldn't see my cup was never drank from and still full. I ordered an omelet and hash browns. My omelet wasn't cooked fully which isn't great for a pregnant woman. And the hash browns were not good in flavor, but at least they were cooked. One yelper described the smell as "greasy diner smell". Thankfully she was able to describe what the smell was because I couldn't figure out what the smell that was Bob's diner was. Some say greasy, others say burnt grease. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse, I looked over to my left and was met with the dirtiest, dustiest vent ever. Hanging right over me and my food. We ordered delivery via door dash my friend said he'd heard good things about this place. I got a full order of biscuits and gravy which comes with a side of eggs and a choice of potatoes. Hash browns wasn't one of the options on door dash I could click so in the additional I asked if I could please substitute mashed potatoes for hash browns. When my order arrived My eggs were in the same container as the mashed potatoes, the yolk all over the potatoes and yolk spilled into the inside of the bag all over the spoons and napkins. I don't know who eats eggs with mashed potatoes... The biscuits and gravy tasted like it all came out of a can . They completely forgot my friends order of breakfast nachos . And the toast was burnt . Just an awful experience overall... read more

All right folks, I gave them 4 stars for the food & service. That said, know what you're getting into Diners, Drive ins and Dives... this place has been around a long time and has never been updated. It's a roadside greasy spoon that gets it right. The portions enormous the prices beyond reasonable overall all a satisfactory experience. We'll be back. read more

My first visit and I was not happy! First of all, their FB pages says accepts credit cards. Apparently they no longer accept them. My son, friend and I pulled up (not sure where the parking spots were). I immediately saw a sign about t-shirts for sale and that the t-shirts were cash only. It was in nice bold letters and in 2 spots! However, what I didn't see was a sign with smaller thinner letters saying they restaurant was cash only. There was 1 sign (not easy to see, especially when walking in with a toddler and talking to a friend) It was not posted anywhere else in the restaurant. It was not mentioned by the server. We walked in, the only customers in the restaurant at 10am. After we sat down, the lady brought a dirty looking fisher price booster seat. It didn't really fit where my son was sitting and he almost fell out a few times while playing around. He's 2, obviously he won't sit still. We ordered our breakfasts, received coffee (which the waitress forgot about refills even though we were the only customers there). Our food came out lil' by lil'. It was not bad, though my friend pulled a hair out of her pancake. It was inside the pancake and she saw it after she cut into it. They should be wearing hair nets! When we were done, we received our checks, pulled out our credit cards and the waitress then told us they were cash only. Neither of us had cash on us. The waitress called another restaurant owned by the same people that did do CC's, but they did not answer or were closed. I asked if she knew where there was an ATM and could not answer me. She then got very confrontational and defensive stating that there as a sign on the door. I argued that there was a sign about T-shirts that I had seen. She then pointed out the less obvious sign and said she would not argue with me. They didn't have CC signs on their door and they had not talked CC's for months. I told her it was my first visit and not a good first impression. We looked on our phones to try and find the closest ATM when she turned to us and said nastily, forget it. We won't charge you. I got my son situated and together so we could leave. She started to remark nastily that it would come out of her pocket. I told her that if the owner could not post it clearly and they didn't let customer know it was cash only (especially when their FB page says CC's accepted), then the owner should pay. I told her it was not clear. We then left and she continued to mumble and say it would come out of her pocket. She was not nice once after we stated we did not have cash. She immediately got defensive and rude. I was willing to leave my friend and son to go find an ATM. But she was NASTY! I left my leftovers on the table and left. When I got outside, I called and asked for the manager. Turns out, the waitress was the manager. Nice attitude for a manager. So I asked for the owner to call me. So far, no call. read more

I don't know where to begin, im really at a loss. This place is in desperate need of a health inspector visit. I am not from the area and was looking for some good old fashioned diner food. This place was described as a perfect place to get a great bite to eat. I ordered a hash brown special and boy was there nothing special about it. You could see the outline of the kraft singles they so obviously threw on top of the potatoes. It tasted like reheated leftovers and the toast was not even toasted. It was literally just bread. I asked the waitress if she had any flavored iced tea and she looked dead at me and left. She came back with water so I guess I was drinking water with my meal. I tried my best to make the best of a bad time but then I looked around. There was a sectioned off area of the diner because there was a leak. They were catching the water in a bucket and then throwing that dirty water into a larger container set on a table near us. Half way through our meal a man grabbed the bucket and poured it into the container and you can see water splash all over that table and the floor. There was another lady there dining in and she looked like she was eating food straight out of heaven. Ive never been more confused at the absolute obliviousness of that woman since my friend and I were obviously having a horrible time. IMO, anyone who doesn't love Bob's shouldn't eat at diners, period. Bobs is by no means fancy, but that doesn't detract from its charm. This is Kenosha's best kept secret for college students-- Wednesdays you get 50% off your meal and can end up eating for $2-3. Thé waitstaff is endlessly friendly and the place is family owned, so if you go often it's easy to get to know the servers and front desk folks. The food is classic diner breakfast and lunch dishes, with plenty of grease and butter to go around. I go often and have never waited more than 20 minutes to have my food in front of me. I could say many, many things about Bob's, but since living in Chicago for 5 years, I think I may have become a bit of a snot. The inside is not much different than what you expect from glancing at its exterior facade: tacky and tropical. The decor consists of bright colors, fake plants, and bamboo paneling. Three things makes Bob's unique among many other eateries in the area: 1) Discover your wild side with elk, boar, bear, llama, buffalo, kangaroo or venison burgers and skillets! All are purchased from a farm in Colorado and only $7.95. 2) The waitress Tammy is peppy, fun and attentive. Just meeting her is worth the visit. She's a hoot. 3) CHEAP FOOD! You definitely can't pass up their .99 cent Wednesdays where they give you a list of options all under a $1. Even not on Wednesday, everything on their menu is under $10 (including the steak and eggs). While I hated that Bob's is zoned in Racine County since the one room restaurant gets full of smoke with one smoking patron, the prices cannot be beat! read more

A three star, not more, not less. If you are looking for the true meaning of a Dive, this is it. The food was only OK, but dining should be an experience for all the senses. The slightly off atmosphere, a great (quirky) waitress, a menu that has all the standards for a greasy spoon and then beyond, a cook who truly cares, a small / intimate dining room and the prices, you can't beat the prices. Put these and more together, and you get a place that will have you telling your friends. When you are in the area, do not pass this by. Too many times you find a "dive" that is obviously trying too hard to be something it's not, or could ever be. Bob's somehow found the right combinations, stuck them together and came up with the REAL DEAL DIVE. Just try it, come with an open mind, leave with a smile. read more

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. The food was delicious. Everyone in the party was blown away by the taste and portions. I sampled everyone's, it all was delicious. I got the country skillet. The gravy was amazing. The breakfast chimichanga (spelling) was delicious. The servers were friendly and attentive. Now the reason I could not give 5 stars....the wait. I can not fathom why it takes 30minutes for breakfast food to come out. It is almost like they have one cook back there. If you are in a hurry, this may not be the place for you. We love Bob's!!..We have been there for all 3 meals at one time or another and never had a bad one. I recently tried the breakfast pizza and OMG, for $5.95, it's quite the gastronomical creation. Delish!! The place would get 5 stars but the Ritz, it's not. Katie, the waitress remembers everything you prefer and treats you like family as does Lola. They have given us homemade soup from the day before, cream of broccoli, yummo. Great food - Awesome service - Wonderful prices! I took a group of 16 motorcyclists there this past weekend. Everyone loved the place! I had a half pound cheeseburger that was delicious and it only cost $3! Included fries and soup! My kind of place! They are only open for breakfast and lunch, so plan accordingly. One of my absolute favorite places. Food is cheap and yummy, waitresses are so nice, and the place screams out old country cafe. Their specials are awesome (had 99 cent chicken Parmesan the other day), they offer tons of different exotic meats, and the portion sizes are huge. I love this place! This really is a classic dive with good food. It's one of those places that you want to keep going back to, especially for their $0.99 specials and $2.99 specials. But even if you don't do those, all the food is a good deal. Our local hang out and meeting place for my family and I on Wednesday evenings. The other poster (Richie) is incorrect about the specials price for this night. Wednesday from 4-8pm is a $2.99 special (and others at slightly more)...a GREAT home cooked meal! You can't go wrong with ANY of the food at this place though! Bobby (Owner) is a great man and truly cares about his customers and community. Tammy (the main waitress) is sweet, funny, and always makes us feel at home. Thursday at noon Bob's does have a $.99 special...can't beat that! Breakfasts here are always great and be prepared for early morning business. read more
