We just happened to stumble upon this place and I'm SO glad we did. I will admit the decor is very dated, the stools around the counter look like they've been through a lot, and it's cash only. But I think that just means the food is awesome! I had a double cheeseburger and fries. Two nice thick patties with cheese, ketchup, mustard, and pickles (I skip the onions). A nice hearty bun too. My burger came with coleslaw (which I hate pretty much every kind I've ever tried), but this was homemade coleslaw with homemade coleslaw dressing. I would eat my bowl...and anyone else's at my table. My dad had a chicken caesar wrap. He enjoyed his food! I would come back here anytime! I would encourage others to go here! read more

I would give it 5 stars but my favorite thing from this restaurant was their American fries. Ever since the new owners took over they are not nearly as good. They just taste like sliced boiled potatoes that weren't fried at all. And they are all thick where as before it was a mix. read more

New does not always equate to better! Especially in the case of ownership. I've been going to Park Inn literally all my life, they have always been known for their jumbo burgers, soups and friendly staff. Unfortunately the last few times I've been there have not been very rewarding. Shortly after the restaurant changed ownership I went there for lunch I ordered a cheese burger and a bowl of cream of chicken with rice soup. Not what I received, what I got was a thin watery bowl of flavorless broth! Not the rich, thick creamy soup I was accustomed to at Park Inn. I pointed out that I had ordered a cream soup and what I had was not that. The waitress apologized and took it back, very shortly returned with the same bowl only doctored with what appeared to be a dose of heavy cream! Thicker but still flavorless. The cheese burger was ok but significantly smaller. I just attributed it to a new business idea of cost saving. Today was a whole new experience! I ordered breakfast, ham cheese and mushroom omelet with American fries toast and coffee. I've had this many times but never like this time! The omelet was a lot smaller than it was in the past , but that's not what this is about. The mushrooms were well, mushy, slimy not what you'd expect from a canned version. The cheese appeared to be a liquid cheese sauce and the ham was minced into microscopic pieces and not much of it! The waitress asked "how is everything " so I told her not too good. The couple at the next table also complained about their crepes. The manager comes to my table to berate me for complaining saying everything is the same as it always been. I told her I didn't want to argue with her about it. But if everything was the same I'd be satisfied. So she moved to the other table to address the situation with the crepes. She informed her customers that crepes are supposed to come out of the kitchen in pieces! They looked nothing like a crepe and I told her that, and she more or less told me to mind my own business! At this point I was done! I asked for my check and happily left the remainder of my breakfast. This manager was the rudest most confrontational business person I've ever dealt with. I feel bad because Park Inn was such a great place for many years, but not anymore. read more

I absolutely love just going into random areas and stopping at a restaurant for a meal that I know nothing about and it's hit or miss but sometimes you find a real gem like I did today. Breakfast food is my favorite food so I really like breakfast so I stopped here for breakfast before heading out of town and I'm glad I did. This place just looks old and divy in a good way because it's real and it has an old fashioned lunch counters with tables and chairs on the outer walls. The menu is very reasonable I noticed for the great quality of the food that I had by the way. I didn't want a gut punch breakfast with all the trimmings so I ordered the two eggs, sausage patties and toast. When my plate was put in front of me I thought for $5.95 this looks very good and still more food than I expected with three old school full size sausage patties, not the paper thin sausage patties. Since I had no potato's to soak up the yoke I ordered over medium eggs which were perfect. The sausage patties were flavorful and not the bland kind with a good sausage flavor. The Italian bread toast was very fresh that was lightly toasted/buttered with a soft center. Overall I was very satisfied with my breakfast and I'm so glad that I picked this place because they do breakfast right. read more

I love the Park Inn. It's a divey place with a mid-century diner counter that you can read the paper at; yes an actual news paper, made out of paper. They serve up a solid breakfast that won't put a dent in your wallet. The wait staff are attentive with just the right amount of midwestern aloofness that reminds you you're at a diner. The coffee isn't great but they keep your cup full. We get breakfast here frequently because it's good and I like spending Saturday mornings enjoying this quintessential, "come as you are", diner. I go mostly for breakfast. Service is usually fast and staff is very friendly. Servers are always coming back around to refill coffee. Portions are good size too. Love the older looking decor, with seating at counter and booths. read more

The tee-shirts worn by the two workers (it's a duo, a waitress and a cook) boast they serve the "best burger in Racine." I thus far have no evidence to the contrary. Another time travel diner where time hasn't passed since the Johnson Administration (still not accepting credit cards), I love the ambiance. It's the perfect stop after a visit to the Racine Zoo. Don't look for anything fancy, a traditional American small town diner breakfast or burger and fries with a shake, or a bottomless cup of coffee. The waitress is personable, attentive and acts like she's glad to see me. Although the architecture reveals its past as an actual 50s style drive-in, there's only pick up service in the back window now. Were you a fan of "Happy Days," or "That 70s show?" I don't think they ever filmed (they used to use film in those days for television shows) here, but the place would have fit right in. I'm guessing the place was founded shortly after WWII, it still represents an America that I'm sad to see fading away. read more

Another place that I wish I could give a half star to. It's a solid 3.5 stars. It looks like a complete dive from the outside, but inside it isn't to bad. It is super old school, but clean and not as scary as I expected. I couldn't help but love the bright orange counters and stools. I got the breakfast scrambler and my husband got the burger basket. My breakfast was huge and super tasty. We both enjoyed the pancake that it came with. My husband's burger was also really good. No frills but great flavor. The waitstaff was super friendly and was super cool about us having to run and grab cash. Both waitresses greeted regulars as they came in, which was pretty adorable. I've been coming to Park Inn since I was a little tyke, they not only have the best tasting Burger's I've ever had, but all their food is excellent. Everything is prepared to your satisfaction, I haven't had a bad meal there yet. Park Inn is the quintessential greasy spoon from days of yore. It is toward the tail end of a line of fast food restaurants on Douglas Avenue. It was recommended to me by a friend for "Great cheeseburgers." It did not disappoint. I went there once when smoking was still allowed in Wisconsin restaurants and I confess I was put off as this was clearly where the locals sat around to read the paper and smoke over a cuppa. The best chicken sandwich i have ever eaten. Fries are great (the big thing there is to get coleslaw but i don't prefer it) and just the environment is very welcoming. Bathrooms suck though, for the men's bathroom you an hardly enter because it's the size of a closet and the door opens inward. A former drive-in, the park-inn and I go way back. An old band of mine took band pics sitting at the bar seats here! The huge sign that used to top the building read "hamburger is king" in huge letters and said "park in" beneath. I'm not sure how that evolved into "the park inn", but who cares, when the food is this awesome! The burgers are exactly as I like em: thin patties, off the flat-top grill, a nice grease content, perfect! Kick-ass fries sit on the side. Then there's the coo-coo cole slaw. It comes as a pile of cabbage and veggie shreds, with the dressing quite unattractively glopped atop. You have to mix it yourself... Wha??? It took me years to get my head around it, but once I did: I'm sold! One of my fave slaws around. Then there's breakfast: it's outstanding !! Everything, really! I usually get omelettes, but it's all great. Good hash browns, too! If it's really good classic diner faire that you're looking for, **AND YOU HAVE CASH** (and it's not the dead of winter, when they close for a few weeks each year) then this is the place for you. read more

This place is great, I have only had the burger, fries, and shakes, which are very good, almost like Kewpees, but better and bigger, the only thing that is frustrating is THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This really bugs me from businesses, I understand it costs you more to maintain, but I am ok paying the 1% extra fee for getting to use my card, I NEVER carry cash with me, so make it more convenient and update yourself for those of us who are plastic people :) read more

Today, I was at Park Inn for a late breakfast. The behavior I witnessed coming from the wait staff and a cook today was absolutely not OK. An elderly, clearly mentally-ill woman came in to the restaurant and walked to the back of the restaurant to take a seat. She spoke as she walked to her table to the cook who was seated at a table just outside the kitchen. She was told to shut up among other things that were plain mean and abusive. This woman was surely not a stranger to this establishment. I have worked in the service industry and would never/have never been this horrible to a patron. I have waited on demanding, obnoxious, rude and belligerent patrons. Dishing that back at them is not an option. If you can't take the heat, then get out of the kitchen.
