I was excited about trying this place. Reviews were amazing and I have only heard good things about this place. Parking was easy. This can be a busy strip mall. When we came in no one greeted us so we just found a table to seat ourselves. We did finally have someone come to our table with menus but they didn't offer us water or take our drink orders and they never said much. They have a lot to offer from their colorful menu along with lunch specials. We ordered from their lunch specials tallarines salatodos con piccata. It came with a drink and a choice of soup or salad, and we ordered soup, which was a very good choice because it was delicious but unfortunately it was not serve hot. The steak temperature was perfectly served but the quality of the meat was not good. They offered to get us another order, but unfortunately the second steak order was the same so we ate everything but the meat. They did offer for us to place another order but we chose not to. We never asked for our meals to be removed from our bill but they gladly did. We were sitting at a table under the AC vent and we asked to move and they were very accommodating. The restaurant is small but doesn't feel very crowded. I am not sure if I will come back, but if I do I will unfortunately not order their steaks. If I return and my experience is better I will update my review.
The food is delicious but the plate are a little over price for the type of restaurant that look like a cafetería Plastic tables and plastic chair in a small locations. The service was excellent at list with us the waiter was very friendly and the food was served fast even with the restaurant it was almost full . The sangria was delicious is a bottle of wine with a cup with fruit and ice . The bottle of wine is open in front of you good taste. Recommended to everybody
We stopped here while we were out running errands. We're newish to Miami and had never been before, but it always comes up in my Yelp searches so I was curious. When we got there, there was only one small table in the back that would fit the three of us so we took that one with our toddler in a high chair. The menu was huge, with so many great looking options, so it took a while to look over and decide on what I wanted. I had the Nutella cappuccino to start, and my husband drank the coconut lemonade. Both were great! Our appetizer was the tequeńos which were so good. I would go back just for drinks and those tequeńos lol. For my meal I had the Simone Bolivar Tostones with Wok Smoked Lomo. I thought these were amazing! I don't eat beef often, but it was cooked just right and was tender, and I just loved this meal. My husband had the Bandeja Paisa. He felt like it was okay but the meat wasn't seasoned very well. Our toddler had the chicken tenders and fries which were also delish! Our server was so friendly, and interacted sweetly with our baby which always makes a difference for me. She was friendly and personable. The ambiance was nice for what it's worth. But, this is a small restaurant in a strip mall plaza, with small and simple table and chairs which is fine, but the prices were not proportionate to that. Our bill ended up being about $130 after tip which seemed like a lot for a simple lunch in a pretty but casual eatery. I will def go back but not often bc if I'm going to spend that kind of money I'd rather someplace a little "fancier".
I love Bocas. I've been for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My favorite items are the cachapa with picanha or chicharron, the lomo or the pabellon. I recently went for breakfast and they have new combos both of which were tasty and filling. They have a good selection of coffee, teas, and sangria. I've never had a bad drink or meal there. The restaurant is small but well decorated and also has some outside seating. On weekends in the evening you will have to wait. The desserts are over the top amazing so save room for a shake!
I am going through a carnivore stage in my life right now and really have gained an interest in all types of meats. My coworker recommended Boca grill because it's a Venezuelan chain that is expanding all over Miami and their menu also has some Peruvian and other Latin American influences. So we arrived in a big group and very hungry so we decided to order several plates to share. To start we ordered the mandocas, which is a fried plaintain and cornmeal dish topped with a variety of shredded meats drenched three different types of sauces. All three of the mandocas were tasty but personal favorite was the avocado flavored. For the main entree we ordered picanha fettuccine, chicken tenders and fries, parrilirita bite (rice bowl with steak, chicken, and fries) and their surf and turf parrilla (steak, chicken, sausage, and grilled calamari, and guasacaca). All the meats were grilled and well seasoned and we had enough food to feed us for two days. By the grace of God we were able to make room for dessert and ordered their Nutella brownie, but it was a little underwhelming. But the service here was what stood out, very friendly staff and made sure that every detail meet our expectations.
We decided to check out Bocas Grill since it's near our home and it was a fantastic choice. The restaurant was cute a nice small spot. We did go on a weekend night so there was quite a few people but the service was still great! The food was delicious! We got a parilla mixta and it was phenomenal. It was a lot a food so we were able to take left overs home. The menu has so many yum items so I suggest going hungry if you're going to stop by.
A great spot for arepas, cachapas, milkshakes, & more in Kendall. Came here in between pickleball sessions since it was pouring rain and we were hungry. The parking lot in front makes it super easy for parking although the spaces are super narrow. When we walked in, we were able to be seated right away with a party of 6 and a baby. The service was quick and friendly & they made sure we had our drinks + our orders taken in a timely manner. A few of us chose to share food since the prices are a bit high here. We shared the pelua arepa (shredded beef with shredded yellow cheese), surf and turf fried rice, and the pork belly cachapa. If you're a fan of sweet and savory, I liked the pork belly cachapa a lot. The surf and turf fried rice was okay but on the moist side as described on the menu, which I was not expecting to but it was still good! For dessert, we had to get the milkshakes! The brownie one was a hit which had a nutella flavor for the actual shake and the oreo milkshake came with churros on top. Both lived up to the hype and I'm going to probably crave that nutella shake again soon. They were able to split our checks and we paid no problem. Although they have Yelp check-in offer, they unfortunately don't honor it, so I would just make a note of that. Overall, a great place to grab a bite in Kendall!
Our next family food adventure take us to Bocas Grill located in Kendall with a category of 4.9 and more than 8.908 reviews, returning after 6 years without coming. The quality increases; everything feels fresh in every bite you try, and the presentation is good and striking, combining the colors and flavors of a country rich in traditional cuisine like Venezuela. My wife ordered the Pisca Andina , it was like opening a portal to memories of her home country, along with a cachapa with queso de mano and chicharon, something difficult to forget. My order was special fried rice, a combination of land and sea, perfect, delicious and exquisite. Each bite encouraged me to take the next one until the end. The customer service is the best in recommending and serving, our waitress Carolina is professional and friendly, I also want to thank the manager Luis after 6 years he recognized us, he always served us the same way.
This place was amazing. Our waitress Valentina was sweet and attentive. She talked to us like acquaintances instead of any average customer. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was an open space with big windows that made the area look more expansive and welcoming. The place had a red and black color theme which added to the place's authenticity. The only reason I could not give 5 stars is like many four-star places (at least in my opinion), there was only one vegetarian option that wasn't a salad and it was not marked on the menu with any keyword so it was hard to find. I recommend a veggie burger added to the menu and I would for sure come back to try! Overall, this place was delicious and my meat-eating family said that the arepa, chicken fingers, and steak were amazing. I absolutely loved the veggie fried rice I ordered
The simplicity of comforting food at Bocas Grill is elevated by rich flavors and expert seasoning. We ordered the grilled chicken with fried yucas and the Picanha on the grill--both were perfectly cooked, generously portioned, and deeply satisfying. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. While we didn't try the desserts this time, it's clear they're a house favorite--we saw many of them making their way to nearby tables. I'll definitely be coming back.
I adore this location. Everything my family and I order is always enjoyable. From starters to sweets, or a final espresso to complete the meal. Delectable! Friendly welcoming staff. First time visiting here, and I have to say the food is exceptional! We went on a busy Saturday, and although it's a smaller place, we got seated quickly. All the employees were incredibly nice and helpful, offering recommendations for our food order. I had the wok-smoked steak, which was absolutely delicious. As a huge fan of Peruvian cuisine, this dish did not disappoint. My friend ordered the arepa, and I tried it too--it was amazing! The place itself is charming with a beautiful atmosphere. Everyone is welcoming and helpful. They have a wide variety of food options, making it perfect for groups with diverse tastes. Definitely check it out!

As a party of 4, we stopped in for dinner tonight and had a wonderful experience. Hector, our server, was fantastic and made our experience that much better. If you get the chance to visit Boca's, ask for him! The food all came out very good. We started with the arepitas that came with a great aioli on the side. I chose the parralita as my meal which is French fries, shredded lettuce, chorizo, picanha, chicken and sautéed onions with the same aioli and a pink sauce on top. So good, so fresh, the meats were cooked perfectly and the chorizo took me by surprise with how great it was! The rest of the table ordered a chicken arepa, a tostones plate with lomo, cheese and sauces, and the lomo plate with two sides. There wasn't a single complaint about the meals at all. Everything was cooked very well and very flavorful. For dessert we ordered the flan cake off the carnival menu and it was so good! Topped with caramel and caramel popcorn, I was raving about this for a few minutes even after we devoured it. Between Hector's great personality and service, the food and the ambiance, we had a great experience at Boca's and definitely will be back to try more of their menu. read more

I ordered through Grubhub app and the ready time on Grubhub app was about 10-15 min before the restaurant had the order ready. Ordered the Parrilita bites and Pabellón criollo arepa . When the order was ready instead they gave me the pabellón criollo plate instead of the pabellón arepa. Had to return that plate which they took back completely, and they went to make the actual order and it took an additional 30 min of wait to make the pabellón criollo arepa. By the time I arrived home the parrillita bites fries were a bit soggy. When we were able to eat the food, the quality was good! Improvement could be the amount of wait time, which could be understaffing of kitchen area. But the food quality was good! read more

Bocas Grill Kendall is a mix of Venezuelan/Peruvian treat. You read right, treat. You should come in and treat yourself, treat your family and friends. I have been here twice. On a busy afternoon which the wait didn't work for me. They were packed and when places like this are not big enough, it's sad. Because you could be missing out a great deal of cuisine and service. I came back at lunch time (appx 1pm) and loved everything. Menu variety: I can't think of a better mix of Venezuela and Peru. I told my server that I wanted one of each item. They offer breakfast (any time of the day), appetizers, salads, soups, Peruvian Cantonese Rice, Tostones Menu (what in the world), arepas, main dishes, desserts and coffees (over ten coffees) Who's in? Service: I felt welcome and was even thank'd for checking in via Yelp. I was surprised in how the server felt I was helping their business. They actually help you since they give you 10% discount on the entire bill during your first check-in. Don't miss it. What was ordered on my first visit: I had a "Huevo en su nido con lomo" Let me explain so it sticks. This is an arepa with the beef of the lomo saltado, onions, roasted tomatoes and a poached egg in it. Say wow. I hope even the chef got his mouth watered by reading this. The healthier version would be (my wife's choice) a lomo saltado without rice and fries and they serve it with two sides, she made it double the salad. And the salad was good. Now she didn't use the dressing, but instead poured the beef sauce from the lomo on top of the salad. Man is she smart of what? I will definitely be back and probably go for the breakfast items. Most likely the Arepa Asada al Grill. Translation: Arepa with shredded beef, scrambled eggs and yellow cheese. How does that sound? I tell you what: go to Bocas Grill Kendall and create your own breakfast. They have choices and you can make your own creation. You will love it. I know we did. Big thank you to this establishment. Finally came to the Boca at Kendall and I must say I had a great experience. I'm not sure why it has poor ratings but ok. I stopped by for lunch because I was super craving an arepa reina. That's basically a sandwich that's made with two tortilla like patties and in between is chopped chicken mixed with a avocado. It was so good! I was not disappointed. I wish the chicken we're whole. In the sense that I wish the chicken would of been just chopped with avocado. Here they make it like a tuna like consistency. It was still very tasty. I also ended up getting the deditos aka mini tequenos. Also super delicious. I tried it from their Doral location and it's just as good. I didn't have room for dessert but I wish I would of. Their desserts look phenomenal. Everyone here was great. I was seated immediately in a small bar like area they have since I was eating alone. A young girl took my order right away despite them being extremely busy and also brought me water right away. I have no complaints. The manager granted my 10% discount for yelping and thanked me for coming. I was super impressed. I will be trying this place out again for perhaps breakfast or dinner with the family. After seeing posts of their shakes from Doral location and getting ready to head out to Doral, I realized that I had bocas Grill near my home. I decided to take the family for their awesome looking shakes :) I didn't intend to actually have dinner there but once there, we glanced their menu and there were items that called our attention. I ordered the tostones with shrimp and guacamole appetizer and one of my son's ordered the Cesar burger which also had guacamole. The food was good and Service as well. The place is very small, the sign said the maximum capabilities is 39. I don't recommend getting the table by the door as people come in and out and the heat of the outside hits you. That's my only complaint. They have three variety of churro shakes, cookies & cream, the dulce de leche and I don't recall the third one. They come with churros on top. These are not for one person for sure. They are pricey too $18.00 for each shake. But worth it. read more

Where do I begin?!?!! First off let me just say that I am a big fan of Bocas House, so having Bocas Grill right down the street is not only amazing, but dangerous to my waist line lol! This Venezuelan/Peruvian base restaurant is a perfect addition to the Kendall area. Oh and may I add they have their own milkshakes only offered at this location! (I will get to the milkshake in a few) Let me first state that the service was fantastic. Miguel, our server, was beyond attentive. He gave great suggestions for things to try out. He was also very friendly and just had an overall kind and welcoming personality. Now for starters he suggested the sangria, which I had never actually had. I went with the red sangria. The glass is gigantic! I really enjoyed it, because it wasn't too sweet and it had a good amount of fruit. Now for our entree I went with the hamburgesa al Cesar! Holy moly!! Can I please say that the patty was fantastic. It's not your typical ground beef. It is more like beef chunks, perfectly seasoned, I could have had two of them. The fries are also light and crispy! My mom had the churrasco, with her choice of two sides. She went with the house salad and the mash potatoes. The churrasco was perfectly cooked medium and with the chimichurri was another hit. Even the house salad was delicious. Now let me get to the prize of the day! The Oreo milkshake! Topped with a chocolate swirly churro type of cake, with the rim smeared in Nutella and Oreo cookies and of course topped with vanilla ice cream, I couldn't get enough. This place opened up last week. It's NOT the same place as Bocas House in Doral. They have some similarities, but still different. This place is here to stay as opposed to a lot of restaurants that have come and gone in this spot. Try it out soon, because I foresee it being busy. It's a small restaurant with several friendly servers. It's a bit loud when they turn on the blenders. However, the food we ordered was really good. The lomo saltado is great! But here's a tip: SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT! Friggin awesome! We shared the Nutella shake (3 of us) and still couldn't finish it. But it was amazing! read more

Where do I start... first off the tables are way too high for the chairs provided so if you are 5"4 and under u may be eating with the table at face length. When I mentioned it to our waitress she said she was well aware and that's how they have always had it. We waited one whole hour and 30 minutes for our entree's to be put in only! And another 45 for our food to arrive. The waitress kept forgetting everything and got our order all wrong. Guys, RUN to Bocas!!! Wow I'm so glad they have a location in Kendall!! Would've never thought! And since your girl is on Chevrolegs, the Uber isn't bad here as well (within Kendall). I had a good old Cheeseburger (called Classic burger)(I was apprehensive about what to try) and it was so good! It had this cilantro aoli on BOTH buns!! and the patty was grilled so yummy (whatever spices they used= so goood!!!) Just writing about it my memory takes me back to the pleasant experience it had (it was this afternoon) the fries were Fried to a golden perfection . I washed down with a Passion Fruit juice . The service was great though the waitress didn't introduce herself (old gripe I have since I use to work in the industry). That didn't affect me much because she told me about the concept (Peruvian/Venezuelan fusion), and she was attentive and did not have an attitude, I really like her (her name is Ana) (got it off the receipt). And yes, I tipped her accordingly. I didn't get amazing experience and food for a crappy tip. I had room for dessert (or so I thought!!). I ordered a Tres Leches and here I am, thinking modest: "Oh it'll be a good old slice of tres leches to make me feel satisfied)" WAS I WRONG!!! no lie, it's a HUGE piece of tres leches (very delicious), with a condensed milk syringe AND a scoop of ice cream, IN a WAFFLE CONE!!! (Not the small, iffy ones but a BIG WAFFLE cone.) Oh so what's a girl to do? Screw the ice cream?! No way Jose! I know no food goes to waste so I treated myself to the ice cream (vanilla). By now I was stuffed but I had a few bites of the tres leches though I ended taking the Tres Leches home. It's TWO desserts in one!!! AND it's ONLY 9 bucks!!!! I had to ask the waitress if it cost $9 lol she's like yeah, that's the dessert! I was blown away. I can't wait to go back and try more things but the burger might have me prisoner for a few visits. Bocas Grill Kendall is located in the Bed Bath & Beyond/Petco/Ulta/DSW plaza on Kendall Drive & 122nd Avenue. Every time I have previously strolled by this restaurant, I noticed that it was always very busy, with all indoor and outdoor tables occupied and even additional people patiently waiting for a table. Well, now I finally know what all the fuss was about! Their menu features Venezuelan cuisine. Arepas? Check! They also have steaks, burgers, salads, soups, milkshakes, and more! You could even have breakfast here, along with one of their coffees from their coffee menu. A barista certified in latte art will enhance the presentation of your cappuccino or latte. Oh! Before I forget ... Hey Yelpers! Get 10% off with your first check-in! Now on to what I ordered ... I had the Wok Smoked Shrimp. Holy WOK-amoly! It was EXPLODING with flavor! (NOW I know why this place is so busy!) My dish included 2 sides; I chose Salad and Vegetables. Price: $13.50. This was truly a fabulous meal! The flavor lingered in my mouth long afterward. I would definitely order this again. Our waiter - Luis Fernando - was very courteous and efficient. He was also very knowledgable and knew all the answers to my questions when i grilled him about the company. Haha! This is what I learned: There are a total of 5 Bocas Grill locations: Doral, Kendall, Brickell, Weston, & Orlando. This Kendall location has been open for 1 year & 8 months. One of the biggest things for me in any restaurant, aside from the food is service and cleanliness. The restaurant was clean. The waitresses took a long time to take our order (the restaurant wasn't very full) and when you would try to make eye contact they would directly avoid looking at you. They forgot to bring my mother one of the things she ordered. I just figured maybe they weren't having a good day. I had the tequeños as an appetizer, those were delicious. I didn't even take a picture. I had the Picanha with mashed potatoes and sweet plantains. It was good meat cooked well, but very salty (to the point were you somewhat make a face from the saltiness). The potatoes, were just boiled potatoes (no salt, butter or anything to give them flavor). The passion fruit juice was absolutely delicious and the coffee was great. read more

Peruvian mixed with Chinese infusion - EXQUISITE! I've been here twice and this second time around I had to write a review about it. The restaurant is modest in size located in the main street of Kendall 88 street and in the shopping center where Chilis is located and is next to Ulta makeup store. Location is great so it gets many customers coming in and out. I've never needed to make a reservation, but I suggest if you're going for dinner on a Friday or Saturday do so. It gets busy! One time I tried to go on a Saturday around 6pm and there was a wait time of 30 minutes. The last time I came was with my family we ended up getting 3 entrees and 1 dessert to share. We ordered the following: 1) Wok tossed noodles with beef and shrimps $15.50 (the BEST, TASTIEST out of the 3 entrees and what stood out the most it wasn't mostly noodles they put plenty of beef and shrimp). 2) Fried Green Plantains with Wok Lomo Steak covered with shredded cheese $16.50 (Savory and it comes with about 5 green plantains aka tostones) 3) Chicken Fried Rice $13 (LEAST favorite out of 3) DESSERT - Dulce de Leche Milkshake that comes with 2 churros cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream that has a dulce de leche shell in between the churros. After having Stella and Corono beers ($5.50 ea) with our sizable dinner then topping it off with the mouth watering milkshakes we were all were suffering from the "ITIS" and needed a bed or couch. I was upset cause I remembered later that night about the 10% off first check in that I forgot to use the first time around...SMH! I guess I have to go back again LOL! FYI the restaurant has 1 male and 1 female bathroom at the end of the restaurant and they only serve limited variety of beers, wine and sangria. It is not a full bar restaurant. A large group of us came here to celebrate a coworker's birthday. We were accommodated on short notice with no issues for lunch. The place itself is on the smaller side. Not sure if it's regularly busy since we came during lunchtime. Food was good. They have a lunch menu with a few salad options that can be served with chicken or shrimp as well as some other dishes for $8.99. I feel like I am a very lenient critic mostly because I honestly love food and it has to be extremely terrible for me to not enjoy it. Usually I give five stars but in this case I'm giving four because one of the three plates ordered just wasn't up to par. The pabellón which is part of their lunch specials menu is a typical Venezuelan plate of white rice, black beans, fried sweet plantains, and shredded beef or chicken. This plate was tasteless and it seems a bit odd since the other two were bursting in amazing flavor. The levin truffle burger was an enormous 10oz hand cut picanha 100% wagyu with fried cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, with truffle oil and mayonnaise cuddled in a black bun. It was delicious and the fried were perfectly crispy. The fried green plantains "tostones" with wok smoke lomo saltado covered in shredded white cheese was so flavorful and served generously. Lastly we tried their infamous milkshakes which is the real reason we came here to be honest! We went with our waiters favorite because he coincidentally also is not a fan of chocolate like us, perfect! I'm definitely a dulce de leche type of gal so can you guess what we ordered?! The dulce de leche churro milkshake.. churros? Yes! Vanilla and dulce de leche milkshake topped with churros and dulce the leche (please refer to pictures for full drooling experience) needless to say.. it was divine! First time going there, we were craving Venezuelan food, got there and we were seated right away a party of 6, we ordered appetizers and the kids food, we got a cachapa for one and tequeños for my niece, well even thought the cachapa's flavor was awesome it wasn't hot which means it wasn't cook at the moment no fresh, but since it was for my son it was a good temperature for him, we then got some arepas and again they weren't freshly done they were not hot and again the flavor was good but not a warm hot food!!! How have I never come here before?! I live IN Kendall. Shame on me lol. Came for brunch with a bunch of gfs on a Saturday at 11am! It was NOT packed, though it definitely picked up by the time we left around 1. In fact, we would have stayed longer to chat, except that we noticed people were waiting for tables. So we guiltily left after demolishing our milkshake (and took our chatty butts to Ulta lol). Here's what I ordered: + Create Your Own Breakfast: Definitely can't go wrong here. I did the shrimp + egg whites (scrambled with peppers/onions/etc.) + veggies + arepa. 1. I was super surprised at first that the arepa didn't come stuffed with cheese. Woefully uneducated in the art of arepas, the only ones I've had are street vendor ones that are layered with cheese in the middle. DON'T WORRY. The arepa will still be FABULOUS. I snuck cheese from my friend's "Sweet Plaintains + White Cheese" side, and stuffed it (and shrimp) in my arepa. It was so creamy and delicious. And the arepa is actually seasoned, so it tastes just fine on its own even if you made a mistake and never ordered cheese (like me lol). 2. The breakfast portion is HUGE. I couldn't finish everything, though I wanted to. (I was saving space for the shake!) The shrimp also came out succulent - not at all overcooked. 10/10 would order all this again. + Oreo Churro Milkshake: I am not a fan of nutella (I know, strike me down amirite?), so I convinced my table of 5 to split this milkshake instead. AND YAY OPINIONS. Everyone loved it, and it was the perfect amount of milkshake for us. And, dude. How could you possibly say no to an OREO churro? Of which they give you 2. Be still, my heart. Having been to Bocas House and sampled their shakes, I already knew how colossal their shakes would be. So yeah. Def save space for it, and def come with friends! This little gem hidden kendall. Combo food of Venezuela, colombia, Peru, & so many other latin influences. Have a veriety of arepas & screwes. They have a lot to pick from.
