We went more than once while we stayed in Humacao. The food was amazing, really good and more. The staff was very attentive and they had more than what you could ask for. So the first time we went it was lunch time so we ordered sandwiches I ordered a Cuban and French fries my husband ordered a chicken sandwich they both were not great. So I said you know let's give them a second chance and come for dinner. So we came for dinner and I ordered a favada they didn't have it so I ordered the black squid paella and a soup that was like a mondongo that was good the paella was not great I've had better in Barcelona. So I ordered a chuleta cancán and they didn't have it. I'm like wth. Then my husband ordered a grilled chicken breast and it was just that nothing special. He ordered desert a chocolate cake and a coffee the coffee was good the cake tasted like a Costco cake. Come on really not going there again..... from what I saw no one really ordered food everyone was having tapas and wine and no food now i see why. read more

Spanish-influenced menu, with many meats hanging on display. Modern, attractive interior. The owner was very friendly -- although he didn't speak much English, the menu was easy to navigate. Omelette was generous size. French toast with brioche-style bread was delicious. Sandwiches we saw others order for breakfast also looked amazing. Great stop on our way through Humacao. The menu is nice but when available. I ordered brunch pancakes with fruit as advertised and instead I got thinly sliced half strawberry on top of two very thin pancakes. When asked about the fruit, whipped cream I was told they ran out and that was all that was left. Manager did not adjust price so please be aware to ask if all ingredients are available. 12.00 for two pancakes and half a strawberry....sucks. Disappointed. You will find a little of everything to eat. A bit pricey for 4 people. On our first visit my daughter's meal was delayed (10min) while everyone else ate. We went again for dinner and had a long wait to get our food serve, to the point that the manager went out to buy food to eat and came back to notice we had no food. She then went to check what was the problem and within minutes the food was rushed out. We were told there was a big party and the kitchen was extra busy... this tells me either they need more help in the kitchen or they are not prioritizing properly. read more

Bocata is among the very best restaurants in Southeast Puerto Rico. They offer different specials for lunch and dinner almost every day. The owners, Dulce and Juan, are originally from Spain and are almost always there making sure to deliver the very best food and dining experience possible. They are so passionate about the business they run and it shows! Drinks: amazing wine selections. House sangria is exceptional. Full bar with nice quality drink options. Lunch: I definitely would recommend trying one of their soups and a sandwich featuring their sweet ham which is cooked fresh daily. There are also lots of tapas to share. The octopus is exceptional! Dinner: we usually do the Serrano ham and manchego cheese plate to start. Also a huge fan of the croquettes. The pan tumaca is also out of this world. For those looking to splurge, there is a big plate of sweet ham available. The dinner specials change constantly. All delicious and fresh options. Something for everyone. Dessert: definitely recommend trying some of their many dessert options. So many house made cakes, flans, etc... The presentation is beautiful and they are incredible. Came here with high expectations due to the high ratings and being a somewhat "different" cuisine in the area. Service was bad - at one point the owner (?) took our order instead of our server. One of the things we ordered was a soup she didn't ask size, but since I said this was going to be my main entree I assumed the soup would be large. They brought me a small soup - ok, fine by me. Other mishaps happened with other items we ordered, she essentially questioned what I had ordered instead of saying "apologies, there must've been a misunderstanding" and moving on. At this point, I felt the dinner was ruined and decided to take the plates to go. When I'm revising the check I noticed I was being charged $10 for a small soup (which is $3.50). They changed it, but kept giving excuses for the mistake. This coupled with the other issue just made the experience bad. Long story short: Mistakes happen, we get it - just apologize and move on. I had to place 4 stars almost hitting the 3 starts. I come twice to this place during my annual holiday vacations to my family house in Palmas Del Mar and having this place out of the Palmas complex it's a great idea! Food is great but the service need improvement ASAP, since the greeting, cordiality and manners. Majorly of the servers are young people-and hard workers but need more coaching of principle of customer service charming. The rest- love everything!! read more

The menu has several different choices and they also have a great selections of wines. The places is beautiful but the service lacks attention to the customer. My wife' order, simple "revoltillo de huevos con cebolla y tomates" took for ever. At first the brought out a "tortilla" and 10 minutes later the revoltillo finally came out with peppers and everything else she did not asked for.
