Second time dining here, and let's just say things were...off. Running out of menus for the table, running out of orange juice, and running out of lamb chops. I think the only thing left at the moment is the frozen pasta in the back. Not overwhelmed, I heard ownership changed at this establishment and it has already gone downhill. The food was alright for the price and despite the menus looking laminated and as big as the 10 commandments the experience was decent. However when I mentioned to a very underdressed hostess that the google map system wasn't working and we had problems finding it, as I just wanted to be nice, she gave me the biggest attitude. She then said I could call her manager but I didn't feel like it was a huge problem, she said... pretty close to but having to paraphrase here " ya a lot of people complain to me but don't bother calling my manager for some reason." Excuse me. I was just trying to help and it's kind of her job to pass on customer feedback. I have to preface this review by saying that I love Italian food, and I'm pretty picky about what constitutes good Italian and what doesn't. That being said, Boccaccia might be the best Italian meal I've ever had, and I've eaten lots of Italian food in my life. I went for dinner with my boyfriend and his parents, who had eaten there once before. If I had been asked to find the restaurant on my own, I would not have been able to. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see a lot of prominent signage outside. The door was clearly marked, but impossible to see from the street. My boyfriend had made reservations for the four of us, so we were seated immediately upon arrival. The interior of the building was decorated very simply: drawings and photographs from around Italy. I liked the fact that the bare brick was left exposed on the outside walls (I love old buildings). My favorite decorative touch was a pair of clocks on the wall above the kitchen doors, one displaying Chattanooga time, and the other displaying the time in Milan. The lights were dimmed and candles were lit on every table, which gave the room a romantic feel. Our server was friendly and got our drinks out to us quickly. We ordered the Antipasto Misto appetizer, a kind of sampler platter of Italian meats, cheeses, and roasted vegetables. It was delicious, and really immersed me into the whole Italian feel of the place. For the main course, I ordered the Involitini Val D'Aosta, a chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto ham and fontina cheese, and topped with a reduction of balsamic vinegar. It was also served with a side of fettucine alfredo. Delicious! The chicken was moist and tender, and was really complimented well by the prosciutto and the fontina. The balsamic vinegar sauce had a bit of a sweet taste, and was the perfect sauce for the dish. The fettucine noodles were homemade and the alfredo sauce was great, as well. The fact that the pasta was fresh really made all the difference for the fettucine alfredo. It would have been good otherwise, but the fresh pasta really put it over the top! For dessert, my honey and I split a chilled chocolate tart, which I was too full to eat much of. It reminded me a bit of chocolate ice cream with a chocolate crust on bottom. Again, delicious! His parents had the creme brulee, which they raved about, as well. I would highly recommend Boccaccia to anyone who wants a scrumptious, authentic Italian meal. The servers were efficient and friendly, the food was fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and romatic. Just be sure to bring your appetite...and your GPS! Boccaccia looks like an old fashioned Italian restaurant from the North East. Charming and romantic in its simplicity. We shared a nice bottle of red wine and the Torre Caprese to start off with. Both were good. I had the Ravioli Spinach e Formaggi which was very good. My wife had the Linguine Veneziani which was wonderful. We finished with a great dessert, the Chocolate Mousse Torte. Overall experience was really nice. They had just decorated the Christmas Tree and very pleasant music was playing. Best italian food available in Chattanooga with poor service! We ordered brushetta for appetizer which were amazing, my wife ordered a vegetarian pasta which was amazingly fresh and packed with flavor, I ordered lasagna which for me is indescribable "out of this world" might match what I felt about it just melts in your mouth, for dessert we ordered tiramisu which was too sweet for our taste buds. On a date night out, we accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant. Luckily we were able to get a table without a reservation, but I'd suggest at least calling ahead. Cozy place with an excellent wine list and the food was delicious. It was a pleasant surprise! For starters, we ordered the fried calamari which was delicious and cooked perfectly. Don't visit unless your from around the area. Driving thru wanted to surprise my parents for an anniversary dinner. It was 730 on a Tuesday. There were maybe 5 tables in use. As soon as we walked in we were asked if we had a reservation which I can understand At a nice restaurant. But when it's Tuesday and the place is EMPTY. We were traveling and passing thru as I mentioned so being in the car for 12hrs we were not dressed to the nines and were looked up and down to feel like we did not meant their standards. The hostess walked away for ten minutes to see if they could fit us in. After her attitude I was very disappointed and embarrassed for the fact I was trying to surprise my parents. So we went to the next very nice restaurant down the road. Completely unacceptable. I researched this restaurant for weeks as I knew we were driving thru.......waste of time!!!!! read more

I'd been wanting to eat here for years. A few weeks ago, my husband and I finally decided to give it a try. After driving by the place a few times (we found it, hard to get to at first,) we walked in on a Saturday night around 7:30 and were asked if we had reservations. We said no, and the restaurant looked to be about 60% empty, but they said they couldn't seat us because they were booked up. Ok....so we left. But another couple we dine with regularly had also been hearing good things. So on a Friday afternoon I called to see if we they could get all 4 of us in that night. The guy that helped me on the phone said they had some reservations and what time would I like. I said 7:30. He said "we try not to make reservations between 7 and 8 because of the flipping." I thought it was weird, but he said "I can do 7:45." which was fine. We got there, and while we waited to check in there was a party in front of us turned away because they didn't have reservations. They were told they could wait till 8:15 to see if a reservation didn't show. The dining room was fuller this time, but they could have easily seated that party, IMO. Especially since it really cleared out after 8:30. Thankfully we were seated since we had a reservation. The good news is, despite all the weird reservation issues, the food was AMAZING. It's a meal I think about often, it was that good. The consensus was mutual between all 4 of us. We had apps, pasta, and dessert, all delicious. I am a huge fan of Alleia, and honestly, this rivaled it for me, as far as the food went. Definitely not the same in terms of ambiance, and no fun cocktails like Alleia. Off the beaten path a bit in a area not really known for their exquisite restaurants' however this is probably the best, authentic Italian cuisine in the area. The Involtini with fettuccine is a dish we keep coming back for time and time again. read more

We were told 3 separate times by the owner of Boccaccia (once in June, once in August, and once in September) that we would have no cork fee if we had our rehearsal dinner there, as a favor to us as friends and longtime customers. One week before the rehearsal dinner, the owner's wife decided that we were going to have to pay $15 per bottle that we brought instead, going back on their word. Which would be more than $800 just in cork fees. Then, they both denied ever having given that offer and accused my fiance's parents of taking advantage of them and being cheap for not wanting to pay an extra $800 or so. They conduct an extremely unprofessional and classless business, and their word means nothing. I just wanted everyone I know to know, because we will no longer be customers there and neither should you. read more

Came here with another couple on Friday night for dinner. It was delicious. I must admit, I underestimated this place. I'd rather dine here than Il Primo any day. I enjoyed the entree here (chicken with balsamic reduction) better than Alleia. The appetizers can hold their own. We ordered the carpaccio and meet & cheese tray (this was the only item that was disappointing, it was more like a hillshire farms deli meat tray). The "full bar" is extremely limited, but their wine selection makes up for it. We had a few bottle of Malbec and chocolate torte and tiramisu to end the night with. Amazing meal every single time! The creme brulee is phenomenal!

The orchiette sausage pasta was some of the pasta I've ever had!! I'd go back just for that. The bread that comes with your meal - meh, I'd pass. We also ordered salmon and shared the tirimisu, both really good. This is a fun place for birthdays because you get dessert and pasta for free! The atmosphere is also nice. Researched the restaurants in the area to attend for a special occasion, and this one looked like the best option. The food was very good. They were understaffed and the very kind bartender took over our service. She did a great job. The interior was beautiful and romantic, but the overall atmosphere was not conducive to a romantic evening. We had to switch tables so that we could talk to one another. It was very loud. We do recommend the food and restaurant, but I wouldn't expect to be able to have an intimate evening whether a small or large party. read more

While the food is acceptable, the service is certainly sub par. After making a reservation, upon arrival we were told that we would have to wait - possibly over 1/2 hour! This with an obvious elderly couple in their 80s. The purpose of making a reservation is to have a table upon arrival. Understand that this is not a precise science but we changed our desired arrival time at the request of the owner - and still had no table upon arrival! Overall, a bad experience, bad service, and no manager or explanation of the poor service by the hostess - who was obviously put in a bad spot by the owner. Go to Alleia's instead. read more

Fresh, interesting. The ambiance is like sitting in a friend's kitchen. The servers always seem to materialize when your water is low or your wine is near the dregs, but without hovering. The food is the stuff, though. From the salad to the dessert, no calorie is wasted. Boccaccia is a perfect marriage of tastes, sights and sounds.
