I was visiting my cousin in Port Washington NY and I was Jonesing for a good NY thin crust pizza. In Arizona good NY style pizza is hard to find. The crust was good but I should have asked to have it in the oven another minute or two. It had ample amounts of cheese and after adding extra garlic, shake on Parmesan cheese and oregano. Fry fry Fridays, been living in Manhasset for over 20 years and folks tell me this pizza is the closest you can get to an authentic NYC slice. The true test would have been to get a plain slice and eat it reheated, hot out of the pizza oven. No time for that today, ordered the Carlo's "Special". My friends recently moved to Port Washington and as they were exploring the Main Street in this town, a delicious smell led them to this pizzeria. After hearing this story, I was curious to try as well! We ordered two pies over the phone as we were driving there and we parked a block away. When we got there, it was all ready for us. The place is very clean and has a good amount of tables and seats with air conditioning on a hot summer day! For a pepperoni pie and a cheese pie it was $45 cash. We sat and ate them fresh. The pies were smaller than other large pies I've had and it was not as cheesy as I would like. The texture was a bit different and reminded me of the hot oil pizza from Riko's. Pretty solid pizza for NY! It did not disappoint. We got a large pizza, half cheese and half pepperoni. We ate the pizza at the restaurant which I recommend since it tastes best fresh. They were pretty big slices and the cheese was gooey but had enough of a crust to balance that out. Service was fine and the pizza came out in a reasonable time. I love Carlo's pizza. They have been our go to pizza place for a few years. Last night, we wanted something a little different. We ordered a Sicilian pizza plain. WOW, this was one of the best pizzas we ever had. The dough was thick but airy not like the belly busters of dough that after one or two slices it feels like you ate the whole pizza. The custard was crispy and very tasty like a grandmas pizza. My wife and I were very happy with the meal and will be ordering this again. Hole in the wall type place, had it for the first time paid 45 for a pizza because toppings are expensive. But worse was it was burned and then crammed into and steamed in The box so very limp slices. While staying in the hospital I decided to order from a pizzeria nearby. I was researching for really good slices and this restaurant had great reviews for it! Unfortunately my food came cold & my Snapple wasn't cold but good thing the nurse was able to warm up my food for me. I never eat cold pizza but I decided to not warm up the pizza cause microwave pizza is gross and wow! I was blown away by how good the slice was and it wasn't even hot! It was everywhere from L&B to Franks(RIP) to Delmars to Pizza Di Amore Lennys etc. In the Southern Brooklyn of my youth resplendent with Sicilian immigrants, good pizza was everywhere. Some of the newer slice joints succeed splendidly like Pauline G's Belluci SCarr to a lesser extent and soon to try Baby Luc's.. Carlo's is a perfect slice. It speaks loudly and tastes of a time honored recipe. Crispy crisp crust and lots of good olive oil. I don't eat a lot of pizza and this was my second this week. SCarr's was my first and Carlo's was better. It's that instant yum that cuts through everything and at $3 a slice it is a little slice of heaven. read more

We ordered a Grandma Pizza, one of our favorites. This is not a Grandma Pizza. They substituted a good pizza sauce for lumps of canned tomatoes which were very sour. Tnen they added lumps of a very bitter garlic. Garlic usually cooks with the pizza, here it did not due to its high content of olive oil. The crust was to be thin, it was not.
