Bodega 88 is a great neighborhood sports bar. The solid bar food options, ample TVs, and lunch/happy hour deals make it one of our favorite go-to spots on the UWS. They're still open for pickup and delivery orders during the coronavirus closures. I ordered some wings for takeout, and they were promptly available within 10 min. The mango mustard wings were a good deal, and tasted delicious! Spots like this are what make this such a special neighborhood. Owner's cousin came to our tables offered us a check for funding for the work we do. She asked me what nationality I was and when I asked why does it matter she said I'm sorry nice meeting you I don't want to talk to you. She instigated our staff and friends. Stumbled upon this spot while looking for somewhere to pregame. I regret leaving this place for Pekarna because pretty much everything was better: the drinks, the food, the atmosphere. Servers are attentive and bartenders know how to shake up a good drink! Bar menu is eclectic, and every single drink I've had has been spot on. Happy hour is from 11am-7pm. This place is a blessing. For drinks, I had a pisco sour to begin with (so hard to find, it seems like!) it was delicious, tart, and frothy, just like its supposed to be. Id come back every week just for these. I then switched to the margaritas for happy hour prices and they are just as good. Flavor choices are passion fruit, strawberry, and mango. I had mango, it wasn't too sweet, and had cool chili salt on the rim. For s happy hour drink, it didn't lack alcohol or presentation. The sangria is served in a tall glass, I forget how much but apart of happy hour as well. As far as food, for my first visit I played it safe with pernil tacos. You get two per order for only $8. The chicken is $6, the hangar steak and shrimp are $8. I believe they have just veggies, not sure. And may I say the tacos are delish AF. The pernil was juicy, and the tacos had all the toppings and fixings - lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, radish, lime, salsa... just wish there was more cilantro. But the prices are sooooo good. Unbelievably good. You have to try the calamari!! It's hand tossed in Dominican honey cashew glaze-ish thing. Completely addicting! More good tapas: nachos, chimichurri fries, shrimp in garlic sauce, Cuban sandwich, grilled cheese. This place is buzzing and the hype is for real. It's easy to forget this is an upscale sports bar, it's super trendy (albeit small), but the decor screams trendy bistro. There are individual TVs in the booths, so I can imagine how it is during game time. The bartenders and servers are friendly and familiar with the patrons, so it has a neighborhood feel. The crowd is mixed - sports fanatics, people who used to come to the bodega for years, UWS moms, families, girls night out, etc. I can't wait for my next visit, thank you for the hospitality and elated this is my regular neighborhood hang. read more

We were lucky enough to get a table for ourselves but the place is tight with vert few sit down options. This place was great! I was here with my fiancé and a few friends on a Friday. Even after several drinks and quite a lot of food the bill was extremely reasonable. The pernil tacos were probably the best I've ever had. Authentic but with their own delicious twist, tons of flavor! We kept ordering more. I can't wait to go back ASAP. EXCELLENT. We were visiting NYC and wanting to catch a Seahawks game (and escape the blistering heat) and stumbled upon this perfect bar. First off, the set up is top notch. There are multiple booths that each have their own TV. Perfect for when visitors would like to watch their local game that likely no one else would care to watch. There is also the more common long bar space with jumbo screens to watch the more popular channels. Second, the drinks were inventive. We have 4 total, the cucumber cooler (so refreshing, and surprisingly flavorful since cucumbers are essentially water), the low rider (a wonderful surprise of how avocado can be incorporated into a drink), the El Jefe (refreshing combo of rye and ginger ale, definitely a dangerous way to easily drink a lot of whiskey), and a red sangria which was divine. Lastly, everything was reasonably priced! Kind of a steal as far as cocktails go, nothing was over $12. We were floored to get such high quality drinks for cheap. We were way too full to get food, but the prices and offerings looked like a great deal as well. All in all, a perfect pit stop for the day and we loved the experience and wait staff. Solid place for happy hour. The inside has 4-5 booths and some smalls tables and bar seating. The white sangria was delicious and refreshing. I also tried several menu items including the honey glazed calamari, Chimichuri Fries and Pulled Pork Panecillo. Would definitely recommend the pulled pork sliders, although I was sad there was only 2 sliders...The Chimichuri fries were also good but I would avoid the calamari next time. A group of friends and I were looking for a place to catch the Warriors game (go dubs!) uptown and stumbled across this place online. When we arrived, it was much smaller than we imagined and doesn't look or feel like the typical sports bar because it's so damn swanky and there were beautiful people drinking fancy cocktails. They have four or five (?) booths with TVs on the wall so you can watch the game, eat and drink easily. There are also large TVs around the restaurant so you can watch the game with a good view regardless of where you're seated. We ordered a few drinks and food. I had the guacamole and chips (they use tortilla and plantain chips that were sooo good!) and chimichuri fries for the table while my friends ordered the nachos. Everything was delicious. Great place to catch a game, a chill date, or for a small group of friends to hang and have dinner. It's a rather chill environment but you don't have to be super buttoned up, either. I have lived down the block from Bodega 88 for a few months and have walked in for various sports and find it to be a nice mix of upscale bar, sports bar, and gastropub that I feel like UWS doesn't really have enough of. Sports bars are few and far between so it is nice to have a place where there can be sports on without feeling out of place. I really like the beer list with a lot of good selections at a very reasonable price ($8 for craft). The food was fantastic, although a little sparse on the vegetarian options. The grilled cheese was fantastic but for a place that does Tapas style dishes, only have 2 vegetarian options is a little bit of a bummer. Overall, I think this is one of the few sports bars in UWS that actually focuses on sports. I found it an enjoyable place to watch the game with people who are actually paying attention to what is on the screen. read more
