I am a bit of a coffee snob. When I go on vacation or move somewhere new the first thing I look for is the best local coffee. Augusta has some pretty good choices, but the highlight of the area is this place. The espresso is rich and has cherry notes that come through even in a latte. Then there is the food. It is simple, elegant and well balanced. The garden toast is what I had this morning and it was crusty bread, pea shoots, tomato, avocado, olive oil, cracked pepper, and sea salt with a schmear of ricotta . The fruit cup was lovely and had pomegranate seeds in it! This was great since most fruit cups seem like an afterthought. Their lunch options are also great, they have a full bar, and so much more I look forward to trying. read more

This is a divided review. The sandwiches were good. I got the Basque and my husband got the Jamon. I ordered a plain bagel for our 3 year old son. When the lady asked if I wanted it toasted, I said yes, but lightly. It came out slightly burnt. When I commented on it, she apologized and said their toaster only toasts at one setting. If that's the case, she should have said so when I requested a light toast. She did offer to bring out a fresh bagel, but surprisingly my son ate the toasted one. Now for the coffee. I ordered an Americano. There was no crema on it and it tasted as though it was a fast pour. ( weak) Our waitress (might have been an owner?) blamed it on the barista. She did offer to make another. It was stronger and had a little "crema", but I did not see her pull the shot. I swore I saw her add something, but my view was obscured. I could almost swear she just gave me brewed coffee, but I can't say for sure. She did say that they used a medium roast for the espresso machine, which might explain the problem. Espresso should be made with a dark roast. My husband ordered some cold brew. They didn't ask if he wanted it hot or cold, just served it iced. The name cold brew refers to the brewing process, and is not indicative of how it is to be served. They should ask the customer how they want it. My husband is one who refuses to complain so he just unhappily drank it. I had high hopes for this place, but I'm not sure we will go back. read more

Read all the wonderful reviews and was so excited to see cafe au lait on the menu. As a native New Orleans in Augusta, seeing this meant a lot. I gave 1 star because that was the only way to get the review to post. I could have gotten the same cup of coffee at the McDonald's drive through and paid a lot less for the grossness. So very disappointed. Didn't try the food but I won't be back to do so. The feel is upscale bar, which is exactly what it is. Not hating on the fact that you can get a beer/drink after you finish your coffee but it isn't a coffee house and does not have a coffee house feel. read more

My rating is based on the customer service. It was our first time visiting this location,therefore we were unfamiliar with the counter/Bar service. No employee came to us to welcome us and inform us that we needed to find our own seats and order our food. We ordered a carafe of mimosas with our meal. Our mimosas never arrived and we had to asked several times for our order. Overall, service was poor. I recommend that management needs to remind the staff to welcome new patrons and provide information about the service. Be more vigilant about the tables that have not been serviced and check on the patrons to insure that they are happy with their service and food. read more

What a great little hidden gem! I almost couldn't find the place in the plaza and had to call and ask where they were. When I finally did, I was pleasantly surprised by the charming and almost hipster ambiance that I don't normally see in Augusta. The breakfast sandwiches are superb. I had the basque and my husband had the salmon bagel. Cannot decide which one I liked better, they were both so delicious. Will definitely visit again, next time to try their lunch menu. read more

Food is always good. But the environment and service is less than spectacular. We all got our food 10 minutes apart served by a kid who didn't even know what dish he was putting on our table when we asked "which sandwich is this"? The lady took forever to cash us out and upon asking for a military discount I think she typed in every piece of information from my military ID onto her computer?! The flies ... The FLIES.. Could not get them away from our food or table! But the topper was when we were leaving and I was finishing my orange juice standing next to the table, two people rushed the table and started cleaning it off. Good atmosphere, very relaxing on a Sunday afternoon. The inside sort of remind me of a wine cellar meets bar. Lots of wood and stone, looks nice. The kitchen is partially open so you can see the goings-on back there. That was cool, and it looked clean. Coffee and food were delicious (you should try the Portuguese potato stew - it was excellent). Let me start by saying that this place is trying its best to stay open with the covid restrictions so I'm giving them more stars than I probably should have. Typically you would order at the counter and they would bring your food, but now staff is waiting tables, to which they are not accustomed. Their menu is online so you have to scan the QR code to see it; I don't know what happens if you don't have a smart phone. The seating it outside and it is loud. Throw in the staff having to speak through a mask and you can't hear anything. I ordered cream and sugar with my coffee and they put it in for me - I got cream and sugar with a little coffee. The parfait is yummy, but the fruit is on the bottom and the yogurt so thick you can't get to the fruit to mix it in. They didn't offer us refills on any of our drinks. All that said, the staff was trying their best! They are dog friendly and the owner's dog is better behaved than most children! Will give it more chances. read more

By far the worst coffee I've ever had. I ordered a iced white mocha, and I was brought a iced coffee with a tiny bit of white chocolate in it. That drink was beyond bitter and rancid that I actually took it back because I actually asked for the Iced white mocha. I never return drinks. I was then brought the correct drink and it was still horrible. I honestly should of asked for my money back, but I don't like to be that person. I had to add two packets of sugar just to try and drink. I ended up up throwing it away. read more

Just had a great lunch at this relatively new restaurant in surrey center. I had shrimp and grits that were topped with a fried egg. The flavors were great and the portion was quite ample. The other people that were with me had the blackened salmon gyro which they said was delicious as well. In fact everything that we saw come out of the kitchen looked great. Can't wait to go back and try something else . The only reason I didn't give this place five stars is because all the seating inside was high top tables which, if you are handicapped, are difficult to manage. read more

Not impressed. Went here for lunch today. It's okay. Not sure what they are trying to be and it comes off the same. Ordered the Pastrami Sandwich, half (could not execute a half sandwich payment in system) and the turkey gumbo. Gumbo too spicy and nothing to speak highly about. Sandwich, like okay, but had to wipe extra spicy mustard off of it, because it was a bit too much. The potato salad was actually kind of gross, a mesh of yams and potatoes and the sauce was yuck. After reading what their goal is for this restaurant, I'm hopeful that they will drop the breakfast idea and opt for a real "tapas menu" modeling it after the Casbah in Greenville, with a real tapas type menu of offerings like Lobster Cigars, and Pork Medallions, and Duck Confit. Really great gourmet, tapas offerings would help the menu quite a bit. On the bright side, the decor and atmosphere was very warm. Today, just a few minutes ago, my self and my fiancé stopped in to get a couple drinks. They have a sign saying "Order Here.." so we stood at the counter for a few minutes; finally a young gentleman came over and told us to take a seat anywhere and someone would be right over. We sat at the closest table to the counter. We waited. The younger man walked off around the corner out of sight. We continued to wait. Finally after waiting a good while and no one acknowledging we were there we proceeded to leave. As I was leaving I looked back and saw the people behind the bar on their phones. I've never been ignored like we were ever, and I've been to many coffee shops, restaurants, etc before but we've never experienced what we experienced today. To make matters worse the man saw us leave and he didn't bother to say anything to us. Horrible customer service. It wasn't even busy, so there should have been no excuse for such terrible service. read more

I really want to love this place and keep coming back because I want to like it so much, but each time I come it leaves something to be desired. The menu is overpriced. I think a couple years ago they put out their Masters menu and just kept it out. I ordered a salmon salad for 13 dollars. Granted in a bigger city that is a steal, but for Augusta it is a bit much. The salad was mushy and came in a very small bowl. My husband "platter" was served in a small bowl as well and was overpriced. Counter guy was not friendly at all. Also, have kid options that aren't grilled cheese and chicken fingers. This is somewhat of a "foodie" place and most kids who come here are going to want hummus. And then this leads me to final issue with this place. The patio is marvelous, but get rid of the random roaming dogs and disgusting chew toys. My toddler and I stepped in dog feces while waiting for my food. Got all over my shoes and pants. Mentioned something to manager/owner and wasn't given the slightest compensation. The dog (who I assume was the culprit) proceeded to come over to our table and beg for food while we ate! I like dogs, but after stepping in its poop enough is enough. Leash the dogs for heavens sake or advertise your patio as a dog park and tell your customers to proceed with caution. This is not the first time I have come across annoying dogs on the patio. read more

Absolutely perfect. Great coffee, great food . Had a bbq short rib sandwich, my wife had smoked salmon blt, both were perfect, great flavor, more importantly, great texture. The short rib was smokey and tender. The BLT was on a soft bagel. The quality of ingredient and manor of preparation is absolutely perfect. We were there off peak at about 1. That is the key to eating in Augusta, either late or early. No restaurant in this town is good in the weeds. read more

Great place for coffee, sandwiches and the best croissants. The salmon BLT is yummy. I get it on a croissant The gelato is deeelish. Try their oatmeal raisin cookie. Great dunked in coffee. Would recommend they have a few regular height tables for those with wheel chairs or those unable to hike up onto the higher chairs. They've done a super job of redecorating the old MFP. I visited this establishment 10/1/17, during brunch. The decor is nice, service is lacking as they are extremely slow. Menu looks appetizing, but don't be fooled. I ordered the breakfast burrito took two bites trying to make myself eat it n couldn't. What it lacked in flavor was made up by the number of beans and uncooked egg that was in it, no salsa nothing to try n enhance flavor. I sent it back to try something else and it never arrived. Two waiters/waitresses checked on my order to finally tell me the manager wanted to offer me two free lunches or him, I declined this offer as I was only in town for the weekend n was leaving. Well to say the least I will never visit or recommend this establishment again. I understand being busy but the offer of a free meal doesn't replace the fact that I still have nothing to eat n this is why I came here in the first place. Time wasted arrived at 11:45 am left at 12:50 pm. I did get my money back but this a total bust. Never again. I ate a burger from five guys n it sucked also. read more
