First off I'd like to mention that I picked up food from here. Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to dine in. Finding this place was a little hard. It was hidden from their outdoor seating arrangement overshadowing their restaurant name. If you're trying to eat here I suggest to park in one of the structures that offer free parking for the first 90mins. I was lucky enough to find street parking right across from the restaurant but that was after driving around and around in circles hoping someone would leave the parking areas with the street meters. Once you open the door you're automatically greeted. It is beautiful inside and I wish I have dined in. My boyfriend and I ordered the Lomo Steak Saltado and the Ceviche. The Ceviche was very delicious and highly suggest ordering it. It is a small portion though so be aware. The Lomo Steak Saltado was delicious as well! I enjoyed eating it. It was very flavorful. I've had several Lomo Steak Saltados before and they were too saucy and wet. The Saltado here was the perfect sauce ratio. I did add some of the their green sauce and it was the right amount of spice. A slight kick to it but complimented the dish very well. I would like to come here again and dine in. Went to a dinner with my mentee and enjoyed trying some different foods! I went with the Bistec Montado, it was made to the perfect temperature and super filling. I literally could not finish my meal. She got the Sudado de Pescado and said it was hot, flavorful, and hit the spot. The fresh lemonade was really refreshing and our waiter was really attentive. This restaurant is located right next to Bone Kettle. As soon as we arrived, the lady helping us out was very nice and very attentive. We opted to sit outside because we had our dog with us. They have heaters outside so we weren't freezing. We got the pork tamale, lomo saltado, chancho al palo, and a chocolate cake for dessert. Everything was so yummy! Made a reservation for 4 at Bodegon, and it did not disappoint! Keep in mind this review is from a native Peruvian- my standards are high folks! The staff was super nice and attentive. Loved the atmosphere (they have an open kitchen and it's so cool to see the magic happen). The passion fruit pisco sour was delicious. They also carry Peruvian beer (Cuzqueña) and juice (Chicha). They had a few vegetarian dishes for my husband, and the rest of the party indulged in ceviche, choclo with cheese, tiradito, lomo, and the best damn anticuchos I've had in LA! Ask for the green and orange side sauces and dumbfound your palate. Yes we enjoyed passion pisco and pisco sour followed by delicious sangria. Dessert, yes, lucuma ice cream, butterscotchy, caramely ice cream of an impossibly delicious tropical fruit...and the alfajores. My only disappointed was that i spent all december baking cookies and i never got near the perfection of the crunchy crumbly shortbread sandwiched with smooth dulce de leche. Never had Peruvian food before? You have to change that and this is the place to do it. We ordered their Ceviche B69, wow nothing like Mexican ceviche. The sauce is spicy and delicious. I followed this up with Bistec con Tallatin Verde, a 12 oz NY steak with a side of creamy Peruvian pesto on fresh pasta. The steak was cooked to perfection, but ask for the hot sauce (not really hot but a nice flavor layer). Outstanding. The pasta was really good, but my wife is Italian and would never say it's better than hers. I will come back here again on my next time to the area. read more

Such a solid option for Peruvian food in Pasadena! My one other experience with Peruvian food in SoCal is "Costa Contemporary Kitchen", right by the South Coast Plaza, and I think this restaurant is in that same league. The Lomo Saltado is amazing. The Arroz Con Mariscos is a Peruvian take on Paella, and it's also highly recommended, and the Empanadas are as good as any Argentinian ones. Even the tamales are amazing. The dough has that pork-like infused flavor that gives it a nice touch. Highly recommended place! Plus, despite being super crowded on a Saturday night, they were still able to get us a comfortable table at the end of the restaurant without having to make us wait. This is my second time at this restaurant. The first time I remember walking out after 30 minutes had passed and nobody seemed to be servicing our table or taking drink orders even. This was back when they first opened so I decided to give them another try last night. Same thing, I had to wait at least 15 minutes for waitress to get our drink orders, then another 15 minutes to actually get our drinks. The food came in a timely manner. Beef Empanadas were greasy but tasted ok. Chicken empanada was super dry and did not taste good. The ceviche was probably the best thing we ate last night. The arroz con mariscos was ok and the bistec was overcooked, we had requested medium rare and we received medium well done, so we requested another one and we got rare. In Old Town Pasadena with parking available around the area. Pretty nice ambience and decor inside. Wait staff are nice and try to answer your questions. Shared the jalea mixta between two people and got the lomo saltado for myself. The jalea mixta has huge portions and you can definitely share that with at least four people. Variety of fried seafood and comes with a green sauce and tartar sauce. The saltado was good. Good portion size with a lot of french fries. Sauce was good but very salty. I came here because of the reviews and because usually Peruvian food is really tasty. The appetizer was good and so were the drinks but once the main entrees came to the table the beef was well done when we had requested medium and we received meat that was as hard as beef jerky but without the flavor. The lomo saltado was one of the worst lomo saltados we have ever tasted, not even the green sauce could save it. You are better off going to a Pollo Inka than here and you would pay half the price for way tastier food, I don't know how this place has any 5 star reviews. read more

Order the few recommendation from the waitress, Ceviche B69, Seafood Paella, and this appetizer that was fries and sausage for my son. The flavors were just ok, I had to add the green salsa to the rice to give it more flavor. The rice was cooked nicely I was hoping fobig flavors like my go to spot in LA (MARIOs) but it wasn't. The portion size was big and generous, there was a lot of seafood in both plates. They forgot to bring out serving spoon for the dishes so we had to dig in with our forks. Cute, modern place in Old Pas. It's sandwhiched between two popular restaurants so the area is definitely popping. We came here after the wait at Osawa was too long. We were able to be seated quickly outside. The table was pretty tilted due to the pavement so it was a little strange, but it didn't really affect the food. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, albeit a little slow. I got the empanadas, which after tax and tip ended up around $9. For three empanadas, this was a pretty good deal. The empanadas were great, and had an interesting filling. The salsa it came with was also flavorful. Omg, this was our first time here and the food was incredible!!!! Definitely another go to spot for us. We ordered empanadas, plantain for starters and then the lomos saltado, I got the shrimp and my husband got the beef. I tried a little of his beef and it was delicious, you can tell it was good quality. And the shrimp were the big kinds and cooked to perfection. Came by spontaneously on a weekend dinner, and the waiters helped us find a seat after a ~10min wait. Would recommend getting a reservation normally though, as it did get packed quickly.
