Yesterday(5/30/2026), I went to Boston Lobster for lunch with one of my best friends. Whenever we're in this area, we usually get a massage first and then come here for lunch. This time, we ordered the Shrimp with Cashew Nuts and the Beef with Chinese Broccoli. The Shrimp with Cashew Nuts was absolutely delicious, but unfortunately, the Beef with Chinese Broccoli was extremely salty. After just one bite, I honestly couldn't eat any more of it. I have always liked this restaurant and have been coming here frequently over the years. I've enjoyed their lobster several times with my family, and almost every dish I've tried here has been delicious. That's why I was especially disappointed with the Beef with Chinese Broccoli this time, as it was far too salty. Despite that, I still think this is a great place for lunch. Their lunch specials are reasonably priced, the service is always good, and the portions of rice are very generous. One thing I especially appreciate is the complimentary orange slices they serve to every customer after the meal. The oranges are always fresh and sweet, making a nice ending to lunch. One other thing I noticed during this visit was that the restroom now has a new premium hand soap. I don't remember seeing it before, and it was a nice little upgrade that added a touch of luxury hand soap to the overall experience. Overall, I still enjoy coming here and will definitely be back. Been looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant. Haven't been to one in a while. This place was recommended to us by a friend. Came at 530 pm on a tuesday, and there wasen't anyone here yet. Afterwards it filled up quickly!! The main thing I dont like about this place is they dont have the prices on what your ordering. Which I'll get too at the end. Like any other Chinese restaurant, their menu is super extensive. I love how they have a little bit of everything. And its very well organized too. We ordered the following: 1. Crab and fish maw soup- this soup was amazing. It was just the right temp. Got me sweating. Can easily feed 12 people. Great amount of maw. The consistency is just right. Tasted so good!! 2. Small lobster special- on a bed of noodles. It was about 5 lbs. Cooked well. Could do without. Basically flavors. And it was expensive!! About $30 a lb. So this one dish cost basically the same amount as all the other dishes. Which was just too much. If I knew it was that much I would definitely not have ordered it. 3. Walnut shrimp- not the best walnut shrimp I've had. But it was ok. 4. Garlic shrimp- this shrimp dish was ok. Too many bell peppers and onions. It was just ok. 5. Mongolian beef- flavors were not that great. Very tender though. Could've been better. 6. Sea trout- this was amazing!! I love the sauce. Fish was so soft and tender. The heat, the spice, the sweetness. Some of that sauce in white rice was just perfection. It was really really good. Best dish of what we ordered. 7. Kung pao chicken- this was a really good dish. Crispy bits of chicken. But so soft and tender inside. I love the sauce that it was in. It was by far one of the highlights of the meal. It was good food. Price for everything (except the lobster) was pretty good. Food tasted amazing for the most part. Typical Chinese customer service. Pay at the front. Massively large portions. Came to the Rosemead location to celebrate a family member's birthday on a Friday evening. We were able to call ahead earlier in the morning and ask if we could be on the wait list or reserve a table. They told us they could reserve a table for us at 6pm. We originally were hoping for 7 or 7:30, but based on how busy and popular this place is I can see why they said no. Come early and get seated right away and there's still ample parking in their parking lot. By the time we left at 7:30p, the lot was packed and people circling around hoping to snag a spot from folks leaving. The restaurant is pretty large and has about 3 rooms with different size tables and booths. No matter the size of your party, there's a table that will accommodate. The staff were very nice and attentive and FAST! We had our food out probably 15 min after we put in our order! Now...on to the food. We ordered one of the set menus for our party of 7 and it was spot on! As you can see in the pictures we had all the "classics". Our set meal could easily be enjoyed by at least 10 people. We had so many leftovers! The food was all well prepared and sufficiently seasoned. Portions of each dish was plentiful and everyone will be able to get enough to satisfy. My favorite items: lobster (duh!), kung pao chicken, pork chops, and shaking beef. The seafood soup is a great starter, and don't forget to add a little vinegar and pepper! Great restaurant in the SGV. This location is much bigger than their Rowland Heights restaurant, but the food is exactly the same. Thanks to Rockstar Eater's recommendation, I headed over to Boston Lobster to try their lunch special. Their lunch special ends at 4:45pm, and offers various dishes that starts at $13.99. Both service & food was an 8/10. I ordered the Fried Pork Chop with Garlic Salt, Basil Fish Fillet, and Garlic Chicken. Out of the three dishes, my favorite was the Basil Fish Fillet. I feel like their cuisine is more Vietnamese style dishes than traditional Cantonese. They do offer a great wine selection (Opus One, Caymus, just to name a few) at very reasonable prices. They have a huge parking lot in the back. The restaurant is brightly lit which makes it feel welcoming. Definitely will be coming back soon to try their other items on their menu. read more

Boston lobster originally came from ex employees of Newport Seafood. They initially became a slightly less expensive alternative to Newport while offering almost exact copy of the menu items. The signature lobster is pretty much the same but just a couple dollars less each pound. They moved out of their old location on Valley Blvd (which is now the location of a phenomenal Hunan restaurant) because that location had worst parking lot. The new location is much much better with plenty of parking and a much more upscale decor. The lobster is obviously a must order as it has a unique Vietnamese Chinese flavor that I couldn't find anywhere else. In fact I used to drive down from SF just to have the lobster. I used to think there is a difference in taste between this and Newport but I can't tell anymore. However it is indeed a couple dollars cheaper each pound of lobster. The small is about 4 lbs and medium about 6. Large is obviously bigger but I recommend 2 medium or 2 small instead of large mostly due to taste. The after meal oranges are good as usual. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the fried food such as fried calamari is very underwhelming with over used oil and breading. Service is very good as they constantly come to change the plates. Come here if you are willing to pay money for good lobster. read more

I really didn't want to leave a negative review, but I have to be honest. While eating the clams with bay leaves, I kept biting into a lot of sand. Then, the stir-fried beef ho fun also had sand in it -- my teeth got grated multiple times. The experience was terrible. The overall flavor was very average with nothing special. The restaurant environment looks dated and not particularly clean or tidy. The plating was also quite sloppy. What disappointed me the most was the hygiene issue -- sand in the dishes is a basic handling mistake. I hope the restaurant will pay serious attention to ingredient cleaning and kitchen hygiene. Came here for Mother's Day lunch with the family so it was definitely packed. We ended up waiting about an hour, but honestly the food made up for it once everything hit the table. The lobster was the highlight fresh, meaty, and loaded with garlic and green onions. Big portion that was perfect for sharing family style. Also liked the fried dishes and veggies on the side. Service was still pretty attentive even with the holiday crowd, which I appreciated because the restaurant was nonstop busy. We were seated at the large round tables and given menus. Orders were placed and the food came out quickly! Staff members were helpful with suggestions on lobster size. They also changed out our plates when they got filled up with the lobster shells and provided wet wipes. As a palette cleanser in the end, they provided orange wedges. Our family celebrated my cousins birthday here and my uncle reserved king crab for the occasion. It requires days in advance to reserve and costs market price roughly $80/lb. Each crab is roughly 10-12lbs! It was served in two versions: steamed with garlic and fried. The fried one is the best... The king crab is fresh! They don't keep it in the tracks at the restaurant as it is shipped to them the day it is served. We got to see the live crab before it's cooked. We were seated at the private room, Max capacity of 30. The servers were very kind and accommodating and was dish came one by one. We also tried their salt and pepper pork chops (crispy and tender), honey walnut shrimp (sweet salty and crispy), steamed fish (fresh and tender), lobster noodles (savory spicy and fresh), and Kung Pao chicken (sweet spicy tender!). Boston Lobster gets a 3/5 for me. The restaurant is a nice looking function with ample parking spaces and tables. We came here to celebrate a birthday dinner and ordered a variety of dishes to try. The noise levels were off the charts and ruined the ambiance of the space the day we went. There was a party in one half of the room and although there were large dividers to block off the view and noise, it was still extremely loud. I understand the noise levels due to a celebration but it was quite a disturbance. The food was alright in my opinion and overall not a personal favorite but other guests quite enjoyed it. The lobster was a little overcooked and I personally prefer a different taste but it wasn't bad. There was a little less meat on the lobster than we though but it could be the size choice. We had just enough food for 6 people to eat without leftovers. The service was quite good with changing our plates/bowls when they were full of bones or lobster shells. Same with refilling the tea and providing us with iced water. The noodles were alright, a little bland but tolerable. The squid seemed a little undercooked/unfavorable but nothing inedible. I quite liked the fried pork and tofu. The pork was well seasoned and fried well but was a little fatty. The tofu was hot inside and huge. They paired nicely with the seasoned soy sauce that came with it. The fried oysters were large but okay. It tasted better with the (chilli fish?) sauce but they were a little unflavorful alone. I also like the tea they provided. Overall, the restaurant was just okay and the restaurant was a little too loud for a celebration. Getting together with friends on New Year's day to chow down on some lobster here is a fantastic experience. Since it's a holiday, they don't do reservations. But for our party of 9 people, it was less than half an hour wait at 5pm. We ordered the house special lobster with noodles and were told it was 4 lbs, but it seemed larger than that! It fed all of us nicely, although I do wish they provided more noodles. We also got the french style beef, deep fried sole fish, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, bamboo shoots with black mushroom, and westlake soup. Everything was delicious! Service was quick and friendly. Parking wasn't bad since we were there early, but even when we left at around 7pm, it was full but spots would open up if you waited a few minutes. Not going to lie, I haven't heard of this place or know what it was about. Of course the first time just happened to be for a celebration of life. A family friend farewell that brought everyone together. They had a good amount of tables reserved for dinner after the service. There's parking available in the lot which is a decent size but let me tell you, it does get quite busy. There's two main section when you walk in. The right and left side. I believe there's also a private dining room but I could be wrong. If you been to a restaurant that serves family style meal, it's the same concept. The table seats about 10 people. Menu wise, they have family style meals with different tiers. Depending on what you want. If you prefer ordering off the menu, they have à la carte dishes as well. Alcohol is available with beer and wine. Not sure if it's a full bar. We ended up grabbing a couple of beers to go with the meal. Table setting is family style with the lazy Susan so it's easy to pass the food around. There's was apot of tea to start us off. Our table only had 6 of us compared to the larger group. I'm not sure if we got the full family style meal but a lot of amazing dishes were brought out. You can't come to a place like this without ordering the full lobster with the garlic noodles. That was the best dish and it went down very well. Also the crab. It was good but a bit hard to get the meat. If you don't mind the work, then it's worth it. I do recommend. The hot and sour soup with catfish was also ordered. It's pretty much a staples at a lot of the restaurants. The broth was amazing with the veggies. I don't like catfish but having the soup and veggies was worth it. Also had the sautéed water spinach which was nice. The steamed claims was also a favorite. The way it's prepared and the sauce and seasoning , another recommended dish. Lastly the shaken beef with the grilled onions and tomatoes on top a bed of lettuce. Another favorite dish. That comes with the season and lime where you can make your own sauce. Everything was amazing and the food was excellent. A side of steamed rice was also ordered. Visited for a celebration dinner, and wow - this place has a whole plethora of delicious dishes. The interior is minimally decorated and has plenty of seating. This place is great if you have a large party. All 10 people in my party were seated comfortably. The service was efficient, with new dishes being brought out in rapid succession. We ordered a set meal so we could have a variety of dishes to share, and every single one was phenomenal. The seafood dishes were particularly delicious. I was so impressed by the huge lobster, covered in seasoning and so savory. The accompanying garlic noodles were covered in the umami sauce from the lobster. Other impressive seafood dishes included the basil clams and a whole crab. On top of the incredible seafood, I appreciated the refreshing flavor of the stir fried vegetables. They charge per pound for the lobster so the small was 3-4lbs, and they said the medium was 5-6lbs. The food itself was amazing. Enjoyed the vast selection of food options. Drinks, however could use some improvement (like wine by the glass). The larger lobsters were gone by mid day (not even dinner yet). The food was overall good, especially the lobster and garlic noodles underneath. What a treasure to dig for! The service was pretty good considering they were attentive for the most part. Came at 7:30pm on a Thursday night with family and we were immediately seated. Service was super attentive and vibes were casual- ideal for a family dinner. Parking was easy with the private lot they had. We got the $53.99 set menu with: 1. House Seafood Soup: enough to serve a party of 4. Soup was savory and had plenty of seafood (squid, fish cake, shrimps). Definitely a nice starter. 2. Clam with basil sauce: clams were very fresh and flavor was on point- rich but not too salty. 3. Kung Pao Chicken: Perfectly cooked and just the right amount of crispyness. 4. Ong choy (we were able to switch from Sauteed Pea Sprouts/ Chinese Broccoli to ong choy for the set menu): a little tough/overriped but a good veggie option otherwise. We also got the french style beef cube- on the pricier end for a single dish but never disappoints. Extremely tender meat (almost filet mignon quality) with a hint of salt on the side. Pepper sauce was savory and rich so we didn't even need the salt. Their dishes definitely had "wok hei"- cantonese phrase for the smoky flavor that comes with cooking on high heat with the "wok" so definitely more traditional in that sense. Growing up in the SGV, one of my favorite dishes was "House Special Lobster" at Newport Seafood; however, the restaurant was always busy. Boston Lobster serves a lot of the iconic dishes that you can find at Newport Seafood off Las Tunas, but they have a huge space with plenty of seating, there's a reasonable amount of parking, and I haven't had issues with getting a seat. If you haven't had the house special lobster here, it's their signature dish. You get the lobster that's fried up with a bunch of flavorful aromatics and you can get it topped over garlic noodles. It's one of the best ways to enjoy a lobster and you should try it if you haven't. It's "market price", which in June 2025 was $36/lb and we got a small 4lb lobster over the garlic noodles. The special thing about this restaurant is that everything they serve here is excellent and I only get their signature dish for special occasions. If you come here for lunch, you can get excellent quantity, flavor, and value with their lunch specials. Like I said, everything I've had from here has been delicious. In particular, I think that you should order their beef loc lac, clams with basil, honey walnut shrimp, crab and fish maw soup, salt and pepper shrimp, salt and pepper pork chop. But if something else jumps at you, then definitely don't hesitate. This place is delicious and it's an easy five stars for their Cantonese and Vietnamese flavors. read more

While the menu is incredibly similar to Newport seafood, there are some differences that would make me go to Newport instead. We got a set menu plus lobster. The minimum lobster was 5 lbs that day. What I liked: - lobster - cooked well plus the noodles - salt and pepper shrimp - kung pao beef - clams in basil sauce What I disliked: - steamed tiger grouper - did not taste fresh - catfish hot and sour soup - too sour for my liking - pea sprouts - more like micro greens instead of pea sprouts. Tender and cooked well but it's not the same In general the restaurant aesthetic is not as nice, service is ok, and food is good. There is a free parking lot in the back. read more

Doe to popular Yelp reviews, I had to try this place out and I am so glad I did! This place is legit!!! Wish there was a great Chinese restaurant by me, South Bay, but I have to truck all the way to Monterey Park, our San Gabriel area to get great Chinese food. First off, not only is the food great here but their service is on top of it (especially the lovely lady), so sweet! She gave me and my kid more oranges when she found out we loved them)). They seem to be very efficient with dirty plates and always ready to give you clean one to discard your shells. Food: Lobster- their signature dish; wow, so scrumptious , the depth of flavor and umami flavor in their sauce that is cooked and the garlic noodle is making me water just writing about this! My kid and husband are not a fan of lobster but they even loved it. Turned my kid into a lobster eating monster after this dish. Worth the money. I think it was around $150 for this dish and it was the smallest size, 4.5 lbs. * sauté snow peas- really well done, garlicky goodness *garlic chicken- this was good too but didn't stand out as all the other dishes. I would skip this one next time * Mongolian beef-really delicious too * salt and pepper pork chops-this was also tasty normal of fried goodness. A tab bit on the salty side, but it is salt n pepper... Definitely one of the best Chinese food I have had in a long time and I will be back! I crave for it now as I write this review. Tip: their lunch portions are the best value because their portions are a generous size and it's cheaper in price. So if you had a bigger group or wanted to try different dishes, it's a good way to order. Not all dishes are on the lunch portion but very generous portioned for lunch. read more

26/100 Great ambiance at the Boston Lobster.It is conveniently located with a parking lot in the back. They have $12.95 and $13.95 lunch specials Monday-Friday 11am- 3pm. I notice you get much bigger portions if you dine in. So that's what I usually do. Order extra dishes for dine in and take home all the leftovers for dinner! Try them out! Plenty of parking. Came during lunch special on a Saturday. Miss the complimentary hot and sour soup they use to give. The entrees are $12.95 and $13.95. The steamed tilapia was $16.95. Entrees come with white rice and sliced oranges. Served with tea. All the food was delicious. read more

I haven't eaten here in awhile and it wasn't until this visit that I realized that there's a Chinese-Vietnamese fusion going on. Though primarily serving up Chinese food, there are some Vietnamese dishes like catfish sweet & sour soup and you'll find some of the seasonings very pungent in a good way. Lunch specials here are plentiful with quick, attentive service. read more

Boston Lobster was the perfect place for my big family to celebrate together. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered set A, and enjoyed all of it, especially the lobster. The staff was very kind and accommodating; they were willing to substitute items out, though we decided on the original set. We will definitely be back. read more

Just okay. we got a map tofu dish and the quality of the beef in it warranted and f, though the dish other than the meet was okay, we got a couple other dishes, and I don't remember what they were I did not find the restaurant extraordinary. maybe a b-/c+, but I am not giving them the benefit of the doubt because the Meath they used in the mapo tofu was literally shamefull. if your going to use the cheapest meat to maximize profit, I am not going to be your return customer. for the sake of objectivity, there were a lot of customers in this restaurant but they are not good enough to come back tol. If they didn't use such utterly trashy meat in their mapo tofu I probabl Would have given them 4 stars. I don't remember ever having such trash meat ina restaurantL I am NOT SAYING ALL THEIR MEAT IS TRASHY BY ANY MEANS. I am saying the meat in their mapo tofu was trashy, and the trashiest I have had anywhere. Was thus a bad cooking day for them As far as their mapo tofu goes, well, in order to conclude that I would most likely have to conclude their chaperone doesn't know Sh.. From shinola, which I do not at all believe. In my opinion, most likely some one mad an absurd decision to save money of the meat used in this dishl. Look! If you are going to use crappy meat in mapo tofu to save money, then don't use use meat at all, just leave it out, it would have been perfectly acceptable and tasty without using meat. The problem was not in the tastiness of the dish. The problem was with the outragiously unacceptable choice of one ingredient that wrecked the dish. read more
