Boston Lobster is officially my go-to location for any|all Asian lobster cravings!! Newport who?????!!! My family and I used to religiously eat lobster noodles whenever we made a trip down to SoCal. The pick of the bunch was 100% Newport Seafood- no negotiations, no contemplations. Unfortunately, the last handful of times have left me extremely disappointed and heavily annoyed. The cost and wait times do not reflect what is actually being provided and most of our food ends up being left behind because it simply isn't worth the calories. In all honestly, I've grown a phobia w/ that specific restaurant at this point because of the countless letdowns. My initial taste of Boston Lobster was about 3 years ago and I had the most enjoyable meal. Due to our LA trip coming to an end, my BD thought we should do it big with some lobster noodles- for good old time's sake. I absolutely refused to go anywhere unless we would be giving Boston Lobster a visit! Sure enough, they did not disappoint! Dinner for 3 adults and 1 toddler consisted of: *Boston House Special Lobster [no spice] + Garlic Noodles for an additional fee. Medium Size 5-6lbs minimally. *French Style Beef Cube *Sauteed Snow Pea Leaves We ate like mf'n KINGS!! Each and every dish was spectacular- even the greens! While we should have gone with the small sized lobster, I'm proud to say we went down with an honorable fight. Lmao!! The lobster was cooked to perfection- meat was sweet, succulent, and so darn tender. The garlic noodles soaked up all of the delicious lobster flavors and were not overcooked and mush. The bo luc lac was flavorful, juicy, and complimented the bed of lettuce, onions, & tomatoes so well. The snow pea leaves weren't tough and old- this truly was a simply yet magical dish. Service was on point and the staff continually came by to swap out our plates full of lobster shells. Above all, there was no wait with our initial arrival. Parking is easy given the fact that BL has a pretty big parking lot specifically for them. 5/5 stars!! We dropped over 3 bills here and it didn't even hurt. Lmao- this place is that damn good! Don't sleep on this joint, y'all. Boston Lobster is the real deal when it comes to authentic Chinese/Vietnamese cuisine. This spot should be so much more hyped than it actually is!

Came here for a family dinner and was pleasantly surprised and expectations were exceeded. There were a lot of people and parking can be limited despite having their own parking lot. Portion sizes were huge, and the seafood was fresh. The lobster especially tasted special; they did not skimp on the flavor, the garlic. Definitely worth a consideration to come here for any big Chinese celebration with family and friends!

Came here for dinner with a party of five. We were seated immediately and parking was easy. They served hot tea and menus were on the table. One odd thing is no prices on their menu. We ordered a few dishes: kung pow chicken, walnut shrimp, beef chow fun, salt and pepper fried tofu, and veggies. All dishes were yummy and good portioned. To note, rice is not free- $1 per person in a big red tub. Upon asking for the bill, they served a plate of sliced oranges. They were very sweet and a good dessert after a hearty meal.

Yesterday(5/30/2026), I went to Boston Lobster for lunch with one of my best friends. Whenever we're in this area, we usually get a massage first and then come here for lunch. This time, we ordered the Shrimp with Cashew Nuts and the Beef with Chinese Broccoli. The Shrimp with Cashew Nuts was absolutely delicious, but unfortunately, the Beef with Chinese Broccoli was extremely salty. After just one bite, I honestly couldn't eat any more of it. I have always liked this restaurant and have been coming here frequently over the years. I've enjoyed their lobster several times with my family, and almost every dish I've tried here has been delicious. That's why I was especially disappointed with the Beef with Chinese Broccoli this time, as it was far too salty. Despite that, I still think this is a great place for lunch. Their lunch specials are reasonably priced, the service is always good, and the portions of rice are very generous. One thing I especially appreciate is the complimentary orange slices they serve to every customer after the meal. The oranges are always fresh and sweet, making a nice ending to lunch. One other thing I noticed during this visit was that the restroom now has a new premium hand soap. I don't remember seeing it before, and it was a nice little upgrade that added a touch of luxury hand soap to the overall experience. Overall, I still enjoy coming here and will definitely be back. Hopefully, the kitchen can be a little more careful with the seasoning next time .

Came here and ordered the House Lobster with Garlic Noodles. The lobster was fresh and flavorful, and the garlic noodles were delicious. The portion was generous and everything came out hot. Great food, good service, and definitely a dish I would order again. Looking forward to coming back.

Came here for Mother's Day lunch with the family so it was definitely packed. We ended up waiting about an hour, but honestly the food made up for it once everything hit the table. The lobster was the highlight fresh, meaty, and loaded with garlic and green onions. Big portion that was perfect for sharing family style. Also liked the fried dishes and veggies on the side. Service was still pretty attentive even with the holiday crowd, which I appreciated because the restaurant was nonstop busy. Only downside was the long wait and some dishes leaned a little oily/salty toward the end. Pricing can also add up fast if you're ordering seafood. Overall though, still a really good family meal and worth coming back for special occasions.

Came to the Rosemead location to celebrate a family member's birthday on a Friday evening. We were able to call ahead earlier in the morning and ask if we could be on the wait list or reserve a table. They told us they could reserve a table for us at 6pm. We originally were hoping for 7 or 7:30, but based on how busy and popular this place is I can see why they said no. Come early and get seated right away and there's still ample parking in their parking lot. By the time we left at 7:30p, the lot was packed and people circling around hoping to snag a spot from folks leaving. The restaurant is pretty large and has about 3 rooms with different size tables and booths. No matter the size of your party, there's a table that will accommodate. The staff were very nice and attentive and FAST! We had our food out probably 15 min after we put in our order! Now...on to the food. We ordered one of the set menus for our party of 7 and it was spot on! As you can see in the pictures we had all the "classics". Our set meal could easily be enjoyed by at least 10 people. We had so many leftovers! The food was all well prepared and sufficiently seasoned. Portions of each dish was plentiful and everyone will be able to get enough to satisfy. My favorite items: lobster (duh!), kung pao chicken, pork chops, and shaking beef. The seafood soup is a great starter, and don't forget to add a little vinegar and pepper! Great restaurant in the SGV. This location is much bigger than their Rowland Heights restaurant, but the food is exactly the same. This is a great alternative to the popular Newport Seafood, so don't sleep on this place!

Thanks to Rockstar Eater's recommendation, I headed over to Boston Lobster to try their lunch special. Their lunch special ends at 4:45pm, and offers various dishes that starts at $13.99. Both service & food was an 8/10. I ordered the Fried Pork Chop with Garlic Salt, Basil Fish Fillet, and Garlic Chicken. Out of the three dishes, my favorite was the Basil Fish Fillet. I feel like their cuisine is more Vietnamese style dishes than traditional Cantonese. They do offer a great wine selection (Opus One, Caymus, just to name a few) at very reasonable prices. They have a huge parking lot in the back. The restaurant is brightly lit which makes it feel welcoming. Definitely will be coming back soon to try their other items on their menu.

    Signature lobster (medium 6lb)

Boston lobster originally came from ex employees of Newport Seafood. They initially became a slightly less expensive alternative to Newport while offering almost exact copy of the menu items. The signature lobster is pretty much the same but just a couple dollars less each pound. They moved out of their old location on Valley Blvd (which is now the location of a phenomenal Hunan restaurant) because that location had worst parking lot. The new location is much much better with plenty of parking and a much more upscale decor. The lobster is obviously a must order as it has a unique Vietnamese Chinese flavor that I couldn't find anywhere else. In fact I used to drive down from SF just to have the lobster. I used to think there is a difference in taste between this and Newport but I can't tell anymore. However it is indeed a couple dollars cheaper each pound of lobster. The small is about 4 lbs and medium about 6. Large is obviously bigger but I recommend 2 medium or 2 small instead of large mostly due to taste. The after meal oranges are good as usual. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the fried food such as fried calamari is very underwhelming with over used oil and breading. Service is very good as they constantly come to change the plates. Come here if you are willing to pay money for good lobster.

Walnut shrimp- ok to good. $22.98

Been looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant. Haven't been to one in a while. This place was recommended to us by a friend. Came at 530 pm on a tuesday, and there wasen't anyone here yet. Afterwards it filled up quickly!! The main thing I dont like about this place is they dont have the prices on what your ordering. Which I'll get too at the end. Like any other Chinese restaurant, their menu is super extensive. I love how they have a little bit of everything. And its very well organized too. We ordered the following: 1. Crab and fish maw soup- this soup was amazing. It was just the right temp. Got me sweating. Can easily feed 12 people. Great amount of maw. The consistency is just right. Tasted so good!! 2. Small lobster special- on a bed of noodles. It was about 5 lbs. Cooked well. Could do without. Basically flavors. And it was expensive!! About $30 a lb. So this one dish cost basically the same amount as all the other dishes. Which was just too much. If I knew it was that much I would definitely not have ordered it. 3. Walnut shrimp- not the best walnut shrimp I've had. But it was ok. 4. Garlic shrimp- this shrimp dish was ok. Too many bell peppers and onions. It was just ok. 5. Mongolian beef- flavors were not that great. Very tender though. Could've been better. 6. Sea trout- this was amazing!! I love the sauce. Fish was so soft and tender. The heat, the spice, the sweetness. Some of that sauce in white rice was just perfection. It was really really good. Best dish of what we ordered. 7. Kung pao chicken- this was a really good dish. Crispy bits of chicken. But so soft and tender inside. I love the sauce that it was in. It was by far one of the highlights of the meal. It was good food. Price for everything (except the lobster) was pretty good. Food tasted amazing for the most part. Typical Chinese customer service. Pay at the front. Massively large portions. Solid authentic Chinese food.

Amazing lobster noodles! My family of 6 ordered the banquet course, which came with a good variety of dishes, including lobster noodles, sea cucumber, crab, filet mignon, Peking style pork chop, steamed fish and clams. They were kind enough to let us substitute the kung pao chicken with walnut shrimp. Besides the pork chop being a little too sweet for my personal taste, all the other dishes were great! Also, parking was a little challenging but probably because it was Mother's Day. Fast and attentive service. We will definitely be coming back.

After an hour just to get here and another hour for our wait was all worth it. The food surpassed our expectations! It was savory, flavorful and fresh! Food came out swinging and the proportions were humongous! Modern ambience gave a wonderful vibe. Service was excellent and friendly. Easily our new benchmark! Parking is nonexistent because it's packed!

After visiting a friend of my husband, we saw a restaurant called BOSTON LOBSTER , it's sounded good so I told my family to give the place a try before driving home to San Diego. The Restaurant has plenty of space, but I chose to be seated near the entrance, since that's where I saw most of the staff standing, that way when I need something it's easy to reach out for them. The Menu was handed to us and I saw a lot of things on their Menu in a package deal, like a family style order. I didn't order that 'coz I am not familiar with some of the things on the menu so we just chose ala cart. I ordered a few things that I knew my Husband and Son would enjoy. * 5.75 pounds of LOBSTER with GARLIC PASTA. *CRAB with TAMARIND SAUCE *PORK CHOP SALT & PEPPER * YANG CHOW FRIED RICE I wanted to order more, but I was impressed with how HONEST our server was, he said "I think you should see first when the food comes out 'coz your Lobster alone is already big. I'm glad I listened to his advice 'coz at the end of our dinner we still had plenty left 'coz the servings were big, especially the Lobster with Garlic noodles. The 5.75 pounds of LOBSTER with Garlic Pasta was Huge when they delivered it to our table, the shells were already pre cracked, so it was easy to get the Lobster Meats. Omg! having the Garlic noodles with this dish is delicious! But surprisingly this time , I loved the CRAB more than the Lobster , but both were really really good, but the reason that I liked the Crab more is because the seasoning or Flavor of the sauce that I chose for our crab is so delicious!!!! The Crab was meaty and it has a good Tanginess with a light sweetness and a light spiciness to it. While my Husband and Son were enjoying the Lobster, I was devouring the Crab ;) The Fried rice and Pork was good too, but it's just the same taste as we always get on the other restaurants. The food here were delicious, the crab was totaly devoured by me and there was plenty of the Lobster left. It was DELICIOUS, but it was a Big Portion with all that Chunky Lobster Meats and Garlic noodles, my husband and son said that it was a heavy meal and made them so full :) The Foods were delicious, the portions were big, there were Plenty of Parking around, and the Service was Excellent. If ever we are in the area again, I will definitely make a stop here.

Because the wait time was too long for that, we decided to try The Dive Oyster Bar -- and man are we sure glad we did. We got a total of five items: a bowl of clam chowder, the soft shell crab appetizer, the roasta, the traditional pan roast with the house speciality protein (with the crab on the side because of my dad's crab allergy), and the jambalaya, which for the last three we ate with medium heat. We shared everything (except for the crab appetizer because, again, crab allergy for dad) and found the food to be delicious, with each entree coming out tasting better than the last. Personally, the roasta was my favorite with the pan roast as a close second. Very flavorful dishes with medium heat being a good level for us (wasn't spicy for our Korean palates). Service was great, our server (unfortunately forgot his name) was attentive and quick with our requests, and although he forgot a side of rice, it was for the best as the food had settled in our stomachs by then and we were content with what we ordered. The restaurant itself is well maintained with ample table space and appropriate lighting, though the music from the evening DJ was a tad bit too loud to hear from across the table. Not a big mood killer for us, though mostly because the good was that good. We're not from this area, so the odds of coming here again are relatively slim -- but should the opportunity present itself, it'll be more than fate this time to take us through these doors once again.

Ok, ok, let's try the other best seller items! No problem because the menu is huge so I re-focused. Oysters, snails, scallops, shrimp, lobster. So many choices for my big eyes. Here's what we got, based on other reviews, and they were not wrong! Mango and Squid salad - get this, get this, get this!! Perfect balance of the grilled squid, green mango, apples and citrus dressing. Oh yeah, love the prawn chips on top too . Childhood memories of good prawn chips. Grilled Scallops with salted egg, garlic oil, and scallion. I can't even tell you what number it is on the menu. Came on a pretty shell and hot platter. I just said Grilled Scallops. Grilled Shrimp, garlic and chili. Perfectly grilled, the shell full of flavor at first bite. Comes with green sauce that was hot but a good hot. Bun Bo Hue - the broth was really good and the portion was generous with the meats. I love tendons, and the cube of pork blood!Made me happy. Others have said it's not good here but I thought it was one of the better ones in the area. I would order it again. Parking can be a nightmare here because the lot is small shared with other businesses. The servers hustle here! They were very nice and efficient and we had no issues with them. Will definitely return so I can try their razor clams!! Quality of food is very good. But need to bring 10 more friends just to try more!

We ended up getting a set for $168 this time, which came with 6 dishes. It's also $35 per lb for lobster, and I asked for the smallest one. Apparently, the smallest one was 4.8 lbs, which was another $168, so I'm not sure if they upsold me. Anyways, the food was fantastic and everyone enjoyed it. This is what I thought about the food we got. House Seafood Soup - Simple and clean soup. Good portion, and it was soothing to eat. Lots of squid. (4/5) Clams with Spicy Sauce - Large clams with tons of meat, and the sauce was fire. Always a good choice. (5/5) Crab with Salt & Pepper - Loved the seasoning, and the flavors were solid. (4.5/5) Thai Style Beef Stew - First time trying this, and it was good. A bit different, but the meat chunks were tasty and the overall flavors were good. (4/5) Sautéed Pea Sprouts - Nicely done vegetable dish. It's simple but refreshing with good flavors. (4/5) Fried Whole Fish - This dish was gone so fast because it was delicious. Nicely fried and not overly seasoned. (5/5) Signature Lobster - I feel like you have to get this here since it's their specialty. It's pricey, but in my opinion, it's the best and freshest lobster in town. Tons of green onions, seasoned well, fresh meat, and lots of lobster roe. (5/5) Service was good, and they didn't automatically add a mandatory tip for a large party. The total came out to around $364, which is pricey, but the food was phenomenal. Parking - Valet only, but they have street parking in front. I parked on the street since there were plenty of spots on a Wednesday, but I assume it gets busy on weekends.

I usually place an order through their Instagram DMs a few weeks in advance for holidays. You can ask for their excel spreadsheet and they'll send it to you with prices and this same spreadsheet updates every year! There is also a little deposit for holiday pick up depending on the size of your order. Their sashimi platter is beautiful, fresh, delicious, and always a party favorite. I usually get: Salmon, Toro, Yellowtail, Scallops, and Oysters. If available, uni trays and fresh wasabi (which can also be picked up at HMart). Scallops are my favorite but every piece of fish is so good and cut perfectly. Parking and pick up is easy. It is a very small store front with one party inside at a time and pay at the counter. Highly recommend for party platters for fresh sashimi.

The place was spotlessly clean, the staff were genuinely friendly, and right at the entrance you're greeted with Top Yelp awards, which immediately sets the expectation high (and they deliver). We ordered both the Classic lobster roll and the Connecticut-style. The bread was warm, crispy, and perfectly toasted, the lobster was fresh and generously portioned, and nothing felt overdone or skimpy -- just balanced and done right. The sides paired perfectly with the rolls and rounded out the meal nicely. The tatertots and fries were crispy and satisfying and well seasoned! Highly recommended!!

The food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. The crab roll was packed full of crab meat inside the toasted bun. I love whatever sauce they put on top + the lemon which made the crab meat ridiculously refreshing. The side of salad helped me feel better about eating healthy too and was a nice textural break from the crab roll. Overall, the crab roll tastes relatively similar to what I had at Lobster and Beer. It was very satisfying and I can't wait to come back for the lobster roll. Until I find out they switched to a poke shop instead. What a loss.
