I read great reviews on Crab Grabber in Pasadena. They had a Yelp event which I wasn't part of. I actually had high hopes for them. Unfortunately, they missed the mark when I came here for take-out. I placed my order online through Door Dash. It's a standalone restaurant. Small parking lot behind it. Nicely decorated exterior. Interior had good space based on what I saw from the pick-up area. Since I didn't dine in, I didn't see the rest of the inside. My order was ready upon arrival. Lots of staff behind the front counter ready to greet customers. They seemed friendly at first, but when I returned back to inquiry about a potential mix up on my order, most of them walked away. Hmmm? I mistakenly thought they gave me two Iced Jelly and left out my Red Bean Soup because one of them looked watery from the top. Please note Red Bean Soup should not be watery. I have eaten quite a bit of them to know the real deal. One lady staff opened the container and said to me, "See there are red beans inside". OMG, I was a bit flabbergasted. That is not how a red bean soup should be. Another nice lady staff asked if I would like another red bean soup on the house. I said no because I didn't pay for two. I kindly ask that they make a legitimate red bean soup going forward. I just left. 1 Head On Shrimp (half pound) - Got gloves for the shrimp boil. Quite flavorful and garlicy! Averaged size shrimps... wished they were bigger though. 1 Fried Fish Fillet - Lots of delicious fillets, but tartar sauce given along with it was not the common condiment for it. Not very Asian inspired. Leave out the tartar. 1 Seafood Cream Soup - Very plain and bland, no flavor whatsoever, and watery. 1 Red Bean Soup - Soup was sweet, but red bean was bland. Btw, very small amount of red beans. More liquids than beans. 1 Iced Jelly - Now this dessert was delightfully sweet and wonderful. It was worth getting. I wished I got two of these instead of the red bean soup. Will I be back? I really don't know because I have mixed feelings about their food. Maybe for dine-in experience... I'll see.

One cool fact about this place is that the owner has catered for the Oscars, and you can definitely tell they care about the quality of the food. We ordered the Combo B ($89.99), which is perfect for sharing. It comes with 4 lbs of seafood, 3 fried appetizers, 2 potatoes, 2 eggs, 4 corn on the cob, broccoli, and your choice of sauce and spice level. For our seafood, we chose snow crab, peeled shrimp, clams, and green mussels, and picked the Mix Everything sauce. If you're not sure which sauce to choose, this one is a great option because it combines all of their signature flavors. It was rich, buttery, garlicky, and packed with Cajun flavor. Every bite was delicious! We also ordered the Roasted Fish and Stir-Fried Garlic Cabbage, and both were excellent. The roasted fish was tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, while the garlic cabbage was fresh, simple, and full of garlic flavor. They paired really well with the seafood boil. One of the best parts is the FREE unlimited appetizer and dessert bar with every dine-in meal. We enjoyed shrimp, beef, pig ears, Asian-style appetizers, fresh fruit, snacks, and desserts before our main dishes even arrived. It definitely adds a lot of value to the meal. The service was friendly and attentive, and we never felt rushed. Plus, there's free parking, which is always a huge bonus in Pasadena. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely come back. If it's your first visit, I highly recommend Combo B with the Mix Everything sauce. It's a great way to enjoy a little bit of everything!

It's been a long, long time since I had Cajun seafood boils. I've heard of this new place in Pasadena so we gave it a try. We got combo B worth $89.99 for three people. We picked peeled shrimp, crayfish, mussels, and clams. We also added half pound of sausages. It came with two potatoes, two eggs, four corns and broccoli. For our sides, we chose sweet potato fries, dumplings and chicken wings. Service was fast but when we saw our order, we questioned ourselves if we can finish this. To our surprise, we actually did. We loved everything. We also enjoyed the complimentary, unlimited appetizer and dessert bar. There's several selections but most were too spicy for me. I loved the desserts though especially the sesame balls. We arrived a few minutes before closing but customers were coming in nonstop, a good indication that this place was liked by many.

This place offer a unique combination (not fusion) of northern Chinese food and seafood boil. Both very flavorful and good spices. Food: 5/5 We ordered the Combo A that comes with two sides, broccoli, eggs, potatoes, and two seafoods. We got a pound of mussel and a pound of shrimp with shell. We also added a half pound of sausage. The seafood boil was flavorful and the seafood was pretty fresh (no fishy smell or taste). However, the thing that sets this place apart from any typical seafood boil is their buffet bar. It featured northern Chinese delicacies like chicken gizzard, pig ear, and duck neck as well as some yummy snacks like smashed cucumbers, salt peanuts, and marinated tofu. Honestly, the buffet bar was along well worth the price. Everything was really tasty, but we saved room for their desserts that featured red bean soup, sesame balls, and herbal jelly. Service: 5/5 The service here was great. The staff kept offering us to take some candies to go. The staff told us to check out the buffet bar while we waited, but the food came out pretty quickly nonetheless. Ambiance: 5/5 This place use to be Jin Sushi. They did a good job remodeling the inside. It was a nice atmosphere to eat and they were also blasting kpop music. There was plenty of parking in the back. I will definitely come back here!

If you're in Pasadena and craving both seafood and Chinese comfort food, you have to check out Crab Grabber! The chef and owner previously catered events at the Academy Awards. The shrimp fried rice was packed with flavor and loaded with juicy shrimp. The Kung Pao chicken had the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and spicy. The tea-smoked duck was tender, smoky, and definitely the star of the meal. The steamed dumplings were juicy and comforting, while the scallion pancake beef rolls were crispy on the outside and stuffed with flavorful beef inside. Plus, dine-in guests get access to a complimentary appetizer bar, making the experience even more fun. If you're looking for a unique fusion of Cajun seafood and Chinese flavors, this spot is worth adding to your foodie list!

We stopped in as soon as they opened the other day. There is parking in the back of the restaurant. The restaurant itself is charming and there is plenty of seating. We came here for the seafood boil and the unlimited appetizer bar. The appetizer bar has so many options and we tried a little bit of everything. The duck necks and the spicy cucumbers were my favorites. We ordered the Combo A seafood boil which gives you two seafood choices, your choice of sauce and two fried choices. Qe went for the mussels and the peeled shrimp. We added some udon noodles. And we got the garlic butter, onion and green onion sauce. It was so good and flavorful. We got the garlic bread and the soup dumplings as our two sides. Both were great and quickly finished. We also added a smoked duck which was amazing. I should have ordered one to go. Friendly service and great food qill male this your new favorite seafood boil restaurant.

We were pretty excited to try this place, but we thought the seafood + Chinese dishes were just okay. Surprisingly, the unlimited sides bar is where it's at! My family came for lunch around 1 pm on Sunday and it was packed. Couldn't even find a spot in the parking lot and had to wait a little bit for someone to leave. There were a couple names ahead of us, so we ended up waiting half an hour or so to get seated. We shared the following: Combo A ($49.99) with clams and peeled shrimp in their mixed sauce, onion rings and chicken wings on the side Roasted fish - garlic flavor ($39.99) Tea-smoked duck ($26.99) Kung pao chicken ($18.99) The seafood combo was okay. We personally found it a bit salty and asked for some rice to eat it with. I was expecting sausage but they don't add that here. Of the 3 Chinese dishes we ordered, the duck was my favorite. It had a nice, smoky flavor, and portions were generous. The leftovers heated up nicely the next day as well! The kung pao chicken was pretty meh and tasted much too sweet. It felt like an Americanized version of the dish rather than having an authentic taste. The fish took so long to come out that we were pretty much done eating when it was finally brought out. Looking at the time stamps on my photos, it came out a full 30+ minutes after the first dish, the seafood combo, came out. We tried a little bit just to taste it. The fish itself tasted very fresh and delicious, but it was very bland. Didn't taste much garlic, and it definitely could've used more salt. The best part of the food here was surprisingly the unlimited sides / cold appetizers bar. We LOVED the food there. I didn't touch any of the spicy stuff, but the shrimp, the sliced pig ears, and the beef with garlic were all bomb, as were the shrimp chips. My family also loved the spicy tofu and the edamame. Service was a bit slow as they seemed short staffed. It took us a while to flag someone down for anything, even a water refill or to get the check.

My husband found this place in Pasadena and it's a cool spot to come to. Parking can be a pain though. You can park in the back, but when it's full, there's not many options. They don't have alcohol. The food is delicious and staff is nice. My husband loves the salad bar which is open to the customers. They hand you popcorn in the beginning when you get seated too. The only downside is that the food and service is slow. It's hard to call on staff and it takes a long time before the food comes out. If you have patience though, it's worth it. Just snack on the salad side bar first. There is ample space and feels like a place you can gather with your family for lunch or dinner. Will be back if wanting some seafood and we are in the area

It's really difficult to decide where to eat; my wife and I want something different, but the family wants Chinese food. I discovered Crab Grabber in Pasadena, which serves both Chinese and boiling crab-style cuisine. Crab Grabber is a plus in Pasadena because it has its own parking area in the back. The restaurant is quite large, with plenty of space and tables. We bought two sets of Combo A with Green Mussels, Headless Shrimp with Green Onion, Ginger, and Garlic Flavor, which includes Fried Onion Rings, Steamed Chicken Juicy Dumpling, and Crunchy Breaded Shrimp. We also ordered the Roasted Fish with Garlic Flavor. The alternative Combo A that includes Friend Chicken Wings, Steamed Chicken Juicy Dumpling, and Garlic Bread, Scallion Pancake Beef Rolls. As I was taking pictures, I noticed the owner with photos with multiple Hollywood people. I spoke with the owner while we waited for our food to arrive. The owner is very kind and caring, and I can see how she takes care of her employees. Not to mention, the restaurant provides free appetizers with a variety of options such as seaweed, pickled vegetables, duck neck, duck wings, kimchi, pig ears, chicken feet, gizzards, and dessert. I love the Old Fashion Aiyu Dessert, which brings back many memories of when I was a kid in Taiwan and used to ride my little bike to buy it with my sister. Bring the family and friends to Crab Grabber to experience the incredible seafood, Chinese cuisine, and scrumptious wonderful appetizers; this will undoubtedly be your location! Come and support the business!!

This authentic Chinese restaurant was featured as the caterer for the Oscars after party. The seafood combo is packed with flavor and customizable. They provide bibs and gloves so you can feel free to get messy. The complementary side bar is filled with authentic Chinese side dishes and snacks. The owner is very friendly and helpful, and the interior is newly renovated and clean.

We love this spot because not only do they have excellent options for seafood boil, but they also have really good Chinese food too. They have all the usual cajun flavors for the boil, but what's a game changer for us is you can also choose a spicy mala or a non-spicy ginger garlic Chinese flavor for your boil. We've tried both and the mala is our favorite. The Chinese dishes we've tried have been really good too. Their new tea smoked duck came out so juicy and flavorful. And the snack bar is excellent- they have several cold dishes you can just serve yourself, and they keep it all clean and fully stocked. The times we've come there's been a steady stream of customers, but it's pretty spacious and good for groups.

This is a brand new spot that's opened recently. It's an eclectic mix of cuisines all rolled up under one roof! The majority of customers come for their seafood boil. Shrimp, crab, lobster, corn, and potatoes all boiled in a broth of your choosing. If that's not your fancy, they also have dishes you'd find in a Chinese restaurant on the menu. Walnut shrimp, beef and broccoli, mapo tofu. Prefer something fried? They have wings, fried fish, French fries, onion rings and the like. I brought my mom here because she was craving fish, but didn't want it fried. So we ordered the roasted fish, which came out on a big boiling chafing dish. It was a meaty catfish and you can choose for the broth to be spicy or non spicy. We went non spicy. In addition to your order, you're invited to their complementary appetizer buffet. It has things like cucumbers, peanuts, shrimp chips, pig ears. There's even a smaller section with desserts.

We came here yesterday with some friends and loved the idea of a Szechuan twist to seafood boil! They come with a bunch of free side dishes which were actually quite yummy and their spice definitely has some spice to it. I have mixed feelings about this place because there were some items we loved, but some that were so mid and the service was extremely slow. We got 2 Combo As doing mostly snow crabs and some shrimp, trying both Chinese flavors and Sweet Potato Fries/Steamed Dumplings. Note we also requested regular fries and never got those. I asked about this maybe an hour 45 min in and they still never came. The steamed dumplings came maybe an hour and a half in and were straight up cold. The sweet potato fries were ok but nothing special. I will say the actual seafood boil was delicious and the szechuan flavor was really good. The corn was delicious and the sausages were great add ons. Note 1 lb of snow crab is literally one cluster and that's it. We also ordered the Spicy Fried Chicken and Cucumber Egg dish. The fried chicken was so good but definitely very spicy. Our first dish came more than an hour in which was only 1 seafood boil. By the time it had hit 2 hours, we still hadn't received the cucumber egg. We asked them to cancel it if it wasn't made yet and they eventually brought it out but did take it off the tab. The owner tried to explain to us that they were down a chef and that's why things were just a tad slower today, but I think it was way more than a tad. Overall, definitely some yummy things but make sure you are allocating 2.5-3 hours to dine here.

They took our order pretty fast and gave tea to drink. The pot of white rice is extra $1 if you order though. And their menu book doesn't have prices for some reason. Only the to-go menu has prices. Food was served in a decent amount of time, around 15 minutes. And all dishes arrived close together so we didn't have to wait long. The kung pao chicken is so good! Not spicy at all and very nice and crispy with good seasoning. It tasted delicious with some rice. The beef noodles were also delicious! It had good wok taste and was very flavorful. The tofu and shrimp were also good. None of the dishes were too salty and all were seasoned well and in pretty big portions, though I don't remember the exact price since they took the receipt away when we paid. But the meal was very worth and we had leftovers for lunch the next day. Such a yummy meal! I really enjoyed it! I am definitely coming back again!

I love whatever sauce they put on top + the lemon which made the crab meat ridiculously refreshing. The side of salad helped me feel better about eating healthy too and was a nice textural break from the crab roll. Overall, the crab roll tastes relatively similar to what I had at Lobster and Beer. It was very satisfying and I can't wait to come back for the lobster roll. Until I find out they switched to a poke shop instead. What a loss.

We ended up getting a set for $168 this time, which came with 6 dishes. It's also $35 per lb for lobster, and I asked for the smallest one. Apparently, the smallest one was 4.8 lbs, which was another $168, so I'm not sure if they upsold me. Anyways, the food was fantastic and everyone enjoyed it. This is what I thought about the food we got. House Seafood Soup - Simple and clean soup. Good portion, and it was soothing to eat. Lots of squid. (4/5) Clams with Spicy Sauce - Large clams with tons of meat, and the sauce was fire. Always a good choice. (5/5) Crab with Salt & Pepper - Loved the seasoning, and the flavors were solid. (4.5/5) Thai Style Beef Stew - First time trying this, and it was good. A bit different, but the meat chunks were tasty and the overall flavors were good. (4/5) Sautéed Pea Sprouts - Nicely done vegetable dish. It's simple but refreshing with good flavors. (4/5) Fried Whole Fish - This dish was gone so fast because it was delicious. Nicely fried and not overly seasoned. (5/5) Signature Lobster - I feel like you have to get this here since it's their specialty. It's pricey, but in my opinion, it's the best and freshest lobster in town. Tons of green onions, seasoned well, fresh meat, and lots of lobster roe. (5/5) Service was good, and they didn't automatically add a mandatory tip for a large party. The total came out to around $364, which is pricey, but the food was phenomenal. Parking - Valet only, but they have street parking in front. I parked on the street since there were plenty of spots on a Wednesday, but I assume it gets busy on weekends.

I thought maybe they were the same restaurant, but they are not. Although they both serve similar bold and delicious Vietnamese dishes. It is located in a small plaza called San Gabriel Gateway. Parking above ground is limited, but they also do have underground parking available. My daughters and I were the first customers. Inside dining space was spacious, cozy, and comfy. Love the quaint Asian street hanging billboard decor! We sat at a bench for better backing. Staff was welcoming and greeted us right away. They were quite attentive when we needed something during our dining. Thank you All! Menu was huge! Quite a variety of different protein dishes. Prices were average especially for seafood. I am a big seafood fan so my eyes were on them mostly. I wanted to try all their best sellers. I may have missed a few, but we got 11 dishes total which I was very pleased with for the most part. Everything was fresh and of good quality. Portions were big. We chowdowned like champs LOL. 31. Razor Clams Grilled with Scallion Oil - First time trying razor clams. An interesting dish. Taste was great, but nothing that says WOW. What's the difference between razor and regular clams? Razor is a longer version. Their meat is more tender and sweet. 33. Scallops with Quail Eggs - A best seller indeed! Came out on a sizzling plate. PERFECT in its colorful presentation and flavorful taste! Caution when hot. Will get again. 43. Grilled Squid with Chili Salt - One big squid all sliced up! Love the grilled taste, but squid itself was a bit chewy. Will pass on it next time. 57. Sea Snails in Coconut Milk - Coconut milk was smooth and creamy. Slightly disappointed on the small snail size. Not much meat. Will try another snail dish on my next visit. 65. Charcoal-Grilled Beef - I didn't try this because I don't eat beef anymore. My daughters loved it though. Tender and wonderfully marinated beef slices. YUM! 67. Stir-Fried Glass Noodles with Crab Meat - Similar to the fried rice version, but just with glass noodles. Good, but rice was better. 76. Hong Kong-Style Salt & Pepper Chicken Cartilage - I'm not a fan of chicken cartilage, but salt & pepper seasoning was well balanced. Good amount of cartilages on the plate. 88. Fried Chicken Gizzards with Garlic - Gizzards were a bit tough. Entire sizzling plate was a tad salty. Won't get this again. 94. Fried Rice with Crab Meat - Quite flavorful and tasty! Dish was perfectly wok'ed and seasoned. It's not marked as a favorite on the menu, but A MUST GET in my book! 101. Mango and Squid Salad - One of the best dishes! SO DELICIOUSLY GOOD!! Green mango strips were crisp and crunchy. Squid was tender. Love the citrus marinate. Very fresh and good quality salad! GET IT EVERY TIME! 115. Singapore-Style Frog Congee - Cooked in claypot, sauce was a bit salty, frog legs weren't the moistest, won't get it again There you have it on our take on alot of food. Nothing special to drink, but water for us. We took home just a few items because we ate most of it here. Oddly enough, the food item names were in Vietnamese writing on the bill. I had to cross reference the numbers to the items on the menu to figure out which was what. Anyway, total bill was $222.00 including tip out the door. Averaged $20+ per dish. Cool beans! Scrumptious foods comboed with great service in cool ambiance is all worth it! Highly recommend. Yes, I'll be back soon!

We were seated right away when we arrived, although it took a while before anyone came to take our order. We started with the sizzling razor clams, and honestly, they were the highlight of the meal, perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and a great start. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, and it really missed the mark. Several ingredients felt poorly prepared. The tendon was so tough it was basically inedible and had to be pushed aside. The pork blood tasted like it had been cooked separately since it had none of the broth flavor soaked into it. Even the beef slices felt out of place, almost like they had been pulled from a pho bowl and dropped into the BBH at the last minute. The broth itself lacked the richness, spice, and strong lemongrass flavor that normally makes Bun Bo Hue stand out. It just tasted flat. There was also a mix-up with our order when the wrong dish came out instead of the lobster. When the lobster finally arrived, it was badly overcooked and much smaller than what was shown on the menu. On top of that, the music was blasting the entire time, no one really checked in to see how things were going, and it took multiple attempts just to get our check. When we mentioned the food issues, the response was basically, "We'll let the chef know." Not exactly the kind of service you hope for after a disappointing meal. Really wanted to like this place, especially after such a strong start with the razor clams, but overall it ended up being a letdown.

The bird just so happens to be a beautifully bright blue bird, known to bring good luck and prosperity (I looked this up). Thank the spirits that my fiancé planned a breakfast here one weekend afternoon, and I was pleasantly surprised and nearly jumped out of my seat to discover the Blue Magpie Milk Tea is the best milk tea I've ever had. It's deliciously creamy, with orange zest on top, that gives a delightful bright citrus taste that I never knew milk tea needed. By far the absolute best $10 for a milk tea I have ever spent. I know, it's a bit expensive for a milk tea, but hey, you have to try it. Some things are just worth it, and you have to try it to know. Where ya at, Steven, Andrew, and Adam? OK other than their amazing Milk Tea, we also shared a Smoked Duck Salad, Carbonara Noodles, and Smoked Salmon Sandwich. To be honest, all of the dishes we ordered weren't all that 'wow' like the milk tea, but it was enjoyed and we did eat every bite. However, no 'wow' factor in them. I do want to mention their Carbonara Noodles did I believe, use guanciale (cured pork jowl), which is how the real Italian carbonara authentically makes it, so they do not skimp on expensive ingredients here. I think it was honestly our bad for being so basic that day because we didn't order the Taiwanese-specific dishes, which they are known for. Next time, I do want to try their fun dishes like their Boba Pannacotta, fermented rice short ribs, silken porridge, etc. Their menu seems to change and be updated a lot from the other reviews here, so it looks like the chefs here have a lot of fun and get creative, which is great to see! Their service was very accommodating and friendly. Both of their team members spoke both English and Chinese, whichever you are more comfortable with. Also, their bathrooms are beautifully constructed and have such cozy lighting. They really made it a place to relax, wind down, and feel at peace in. I definitely want to come back to try their dinner tasting menu on a date night out. And, I definitely want another taste of their milk tea again! Seriously, the best milk tea I have ever had.

Best part was the price didn't break my wallet! I thought it was pretty affordable even though this restaurant is somewhat upscale. I would recommend coming to try their new menu!

The Diamond Wagyu Set was 100% worth it. Everything we tried tasted fresh and high quality, especially the Japanese A5 wagyu. It was so tender and literally melted in your mouth. I also loved that there were so many different wagyu options, seafood, specialty dishes, fresh vegetables, and even dessert included. The House Broth and Spicy Miso were both so flavorful, and my favorite specialty dishes were definitely the wagyu nigiri, sweet shrimp sashimi, and bone marrow. We also had the ice cream and the vanilla was my favorite. The ambiance was one of my favorite parts too. It has a modern Japanese-inspired design that's both cozy and inviting, and the whole restaurant just feels really clean and well put together. The service was amazing too. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and always checking in to see if we needed anything. I honestly couldn't recommend this place more.
