For $140 for two entrees and a desert, there should be more refinement. Instead of the waiter saying "I'll get you steak knives" - just get the steak knives. And refine the experience with more private seating. Every seat is right on top of another seat, so the next table hears every word you say. This place is truly the BEST of the best fine dining in this area, hands down. I will he recommending this restaurant to anyone and everyone who lives and comes through Lexington from now on. From the atmosphere, to the food, to the service, to the drinks, everything was amazing! I truly felt like I was a princess in a big city dining here. Not only did the hostess greet us and seat us immediately upon arrival with my husband, she made sure to let us know she reserved "the best table in the house" for us. She was very warm and friendly, boasting with pride that we chose to dine there that evening. Our server then greeted us and although it was difficult to understand her because of the mask, she was also very pleasant. We ordered a bottle of champange to celebrate our anniversary and the short ribs appetizer to start with. Man was it good! Then, my husband and I both ordered the duck because a super nice gentleman sitting next to us recommended it to us. He was a regular customer, come to find out. I got the brussel sprouts as a side and my husband got the fried rice as his side, although we really didn't need to order a side dish because the duck itself was very filling. Another neat detail about this place that my husband noticed was the cutting knives. As a collector himself, he picked up on the fact that their knives were imports from France. He pointed out their brand by showing me the fly symbol on my knife. As we sat there, enjoying our meal, I couldn't have felt happier! Breaks my heart to see a once phenomenal restaurant start dropping the ball. They struggled to re-open after last year's break. Service at lunch is a total coin toss. I see on Facebook they have now LOST their liquor license? How does that happen? Last time in was over a month ago and I quit coming because placing a to go at a lunch could take 20m or 45m depending on the day. You pay for to go orders in advance so their is no option to just leave if they are delayed. Food has always been excellent - I would go so far as to say best Thai in the midlands - but these managerial missteps are killing them. They were closed out of the blue Tue and Wed this week so definitely don't recommend hitting them on a "first day back" for a given week. Pre-covid they were well managed and well run. Wonderful meal tonight! First time here. Said they use no MSG on their food-Hurray! I think this is one of the top restaurant in the Columbia area. They served high quality ingredients in a very well prepared fashion. The vegetables were exquisite. The sea bass had a perfect crunch around the edges. I enjoyed the fresh lemonade, even without sugar. They were kind enough to prepare my food according to my dietary restrictions. I was really disappointed after reading the rave reviews. First, the pricing is very high, definitely a 3-4 star price, not 2 stars. For a two person dinner, we paid over $100, with entree avg between $30-35 each. We stood at the hostess counter with an empty restaurant and waited over 5 minutes for her to take two different calls for reservations. Once we were seated the menus came and we were blown away at the prices. We ordered expecting the best Thai food ever and only received ok food with very small portions. One of our favorite and "go-to" dinner spots in Lexington. In general, Lexington does not have a ton to offer when it comes to refined meals, but Bodhi hits the spot. My only criticism is that the menu has been pretty stagnant as of late. Early on the menu would change quite a bit, but COVID seemed to shut down that process. I'm hopeful they will begin to add a bit more variety in the future. Nonetheless, the execution of their menu items is always above par and we are never disappointed with the food. Bodhi Thai had been one our favorite restaurants. We enjoyed the food on their former menu. The appetizer and dessert were remnants of their former self. The entree (filet) was amount the worst I have eaten. It was not cooked properly to order and was extremely bland. The waitress was very kind and did not charge us for the dessert. The issue however was the entree. I've had better steak at Texas Longhorn. My spouse ordered the filet as well and the experience was the same so it was more than just a one-off. I hope they respond and return to the old menu or at least step up their game in preparation. read more

We started with the pork belly buns, amazing. One came with hoisin and the other with sriracha. My only suggestion would be to put both sauces on each. I had the scallop entree, medium heat. The scallops were prepared perfectly and the dish was very well balanced. My man got the crispy duck, Thai hot. It was also delicious and the curry sauce was fantastic. The reason I didn't give it five stars is that it doesn't scream traditional Thai. Everything was highly elevated and delicious, but didn't really satisfy our craving for Thai food. I ordered the Thai Tea, with no idea what to expect. It's iced tea, sweet, with cream top layer. Coconut milk maybe? Being from the south I have had sweet tea, but his was sooo different. I will start the review by saying I have never eaten here but I have heard the food is very good. I am leaving a 1 star review bc I received a gift certificate in December of 2021 for $60. We have not been able to get away and have a date night until recently. I opened up our gift certificate and noticed it states that it expired in March. I called and was told yes their gift certificates do expire. I'm disappointed bc I know we held onto it for awhile but it was less than a year and we were not able to go until now. We've been to Bodhi a few times and every time, the food is great. Most recently, I had the Tropical Novit for my first drink and it was very well made. The chicken is out of the world. The pork chops are above average, but nothing to write home about. What gives this a 4* is the hit or miss service. Most recently, the waitress was trying to rush appetizer, salad, and entree all with the same order. When I asked for her to swing back for the entrees when the appetizer comes, she opted not to come back at all. At one point, the salads and appetizer were done, the drinks and water were empty. She continued to ignore our table. I apologize that they want to do everything all at once, but I prefer to enjoy my "upscale" dining experience, not rush it. read more

I am appalled by what just happened when entering this establishment. We came into Bodhi Thai dining this evening at 6pm. We were told by an EXTREMELY rude hostess that they do not allow children under 6 years old to dine here. Excuse me? First of all, I have NEVER in my life heard this rule. Our daughter is four years old and very well behaved. Secondly, I am 100% convinced this was based off of how we looked. We are used to dining at 5 stars restaurants. We are from California and have been all over the world and NEVER have we been treated like this. Avoid at all costs! Gross rule. Gross place. Oh and the food smelled gross too. read more

Tonight was our first time going to Bodhi. We called ahead for a reservation. When we arrived they sat my husband and me at a table for two in the middle of the room. The restaurant was almost empty at the time. We don't enjoy sitting in the middle of a room and asked if we could please move to a side table. The waiter told us that would be fine. We moved. Thirty seconds later, another waiter told us we had to move back to the original table in the middle. My husband asked why and was told that "people choose their tables ahead of time." WHAT? Is this an AIRLINE? What harm could it have done to let us sit where we were comfortable??? RUDE!! I don't care how good the food is....they were wrong and insulting. We actually ate at a Thai restaurant in Columba last week where the food was delicious and the staff was polite! We are now enjoying dinner at Alodia's right across the street....where our business is always appreciated and the staff is so welcoming. We will not be back to Bodhi's. Started with the chef's complimentary soup, very tasty. Then to the Fresh Roll, light and tasty. Two nice sauces. My main course was duck, excellent. The sea bass looked like the winner main dish choice. Delicate, well plated, sauce was perfect. Finished with dessert and great coffee. Don't be put off by the pace. It's fine dining, which takes time. We had a big party, which is tough. Wine, beer, and liquor is reasonably priced. Noise level is moderate, comfortable. Heat level is 1-4. An amazing amazing meal from start to finish. I started with the Tom Ka soup which was a coconut based chicken soup. The fresh cilantro was a great addition for a kick of flavor. For dinner I ordered the duck which came with peas and blistered tomatoes and a spicy curry. I also opted for asparagus as a side. The duck was perfectly cooked with a crispy skin and moist inside. The curry added the necessary kick to balance the sweetness of the duck. The tomatoes were waiting to shed their skin and join the curry so of course I obliged. The array of textures of flavors was chefs kiss. For dessert I had the mango sticky rice with pistachio gelato. The mango was salty to play with new sweetness of the stick rice. The consistency was firm, not dry and a perfect vehicle to accompany the pistachio gelato. Gave them a call for takeout right about 25m before closing and excited they took my order. Unfortunately, very limited takeout menu on Yelp so I asked for the basics like Thai basil chicken or stir fry whatnot. Nope, didn't have them. So I asked for a recommendation. He gave me salmon in a curry sauce. And I ordered papaya salad with chicken satay. Now mind you, food was absolutely tasty and delicious but I paid nearly $50 and the portions were seriously minuscule. The ~$22 salmon dish barely fed one person and papaya was more of a side dish. I would probably say a great romantic ambience if dining in but don't expect the normal Thai size takeout entrees. I had to grab Popeyes on my way home :( read more

I understand the "hole in the wall" description, doesn't look like much from outside, it is actually a repurposed bank. Inside it is very upscale and on weekends you better have reservations, we actually popped in early on a Thursday evening and were squeezed in.
