We booked our reservations 2 weeks in advance. Arrived and was seated in a back corner. Servers gave us eye contact but never came by. The table in front of us had in going service. I wanted to get up and leave but we stayed hoping we could dine. Finally after 37 minutes a lady came up asked us for our entire order including drinks apps and entrees! We don't dine like this I said she responded by saying if you don't order you won't get your food?!! We ordered apps only - we came for pad Thai and was told chef was too busy and wasn't making that dish this evening. Appalled will never go back! Why can't we live closer to Bodhi Thai that's what I thought after my meal here. Lunch crowd was dressed to the nines. Very crowded only a few tables open. Parking was a bitch. The braised pork ribs were fall off the bone good and I don't care for people who don't like that term. This is such a gem and I'm always amazed it's not more packed! Obviously the food is incredible--true Thai food prepared by a chef who is an artist. Look at the carrot in my post! That took time and effort! As the waiter said, in Thailand the presentation has to match the level of the food. Same goes for the drink menu--there is a serious mixologist behind their drinks. Next the staff--the waiters are in ties, so professional and educated on the menu, drinks and Thai culture. Atmosphere is perfect. The lighting, the music, the way they space you as you're seated--all so thoughtful and part of the experience. This is the 5th time I've been and every time is better than the last. First time dining there. I had the toong tong, which was a TINY appetizer, but was not bad. I had the Tom Kha Gai soup, which was flavorful and zesty. I had the #5 red curry lunch with shrimp. Overall the food is solid on flavor, but portions could be more generous. Right up there with one of my favorite Thai restaurants in west Columbia, which is far less classy yet somehow more authentic in its ownership visibility, waitstaff, and larger portions for less. My only real complaint with Bodhi was their pretentious plating and silverware, the fork was barely useable to actually fork anything with. Mayhaps I should have turned the fork and spoon around and used them as chopsticks... idk.. they were abnormally long overall... That fork really forked up my experience..I don't care that it has the appearance of bourgeoisie gold tints. I need a fork to be widespread or at least normal spread and I need it to be forktacular. That fork must have done something egregiously wrong in its previous life to reincarnate into a barely stabbable utensil in its current incarnation. It was a feat trying to stab much of any vegetable let alone have it remain on during its transit.. The Tom kha was in an unsightly oversized bowl/plate thingy?? I'm gonna call it a bolate. Or maybe a platowl.. the spoon was not it's friend.. in retrospect I really should have requested a straw for maximum slurpocity should I return. Had they gifted the bowl as a complimentary hat; I would have appreciated the presentation a little better, but I'm not positive on head sized and proper fitment... The spoon fared slightly better with the #5 red curry. (Fork all but cowered in the corner by then) but I found the bowl and presentation to be off putting and awkward in its presentation and ergonomics. Overall the food was good, but the presentation left me baffled by their choices in plating presentation and ¿goldware? I might give it another go, but 10-1 I will take the comfort and unpretentiousness and flavor of the other place.. read more

I used to go to Bodhi when I was in town for work. It's been a couple years since I have been but was so excited to go since I was in town for dinner!! The rib appetizer was amazing! The toon tong was just as good as I remember. The soup was just ok. It had shrimp in it with the tails on which I have never seen before in a soup. It was a bit of a hassle to remove the tails in the hot broth without making a mess. The short rib special was nice!! Noodles were good. Meat was so so tender!! A little too much sauce, it took away from the great short ribs. Service was terrible!! Our server was not very friendly and kinda rude. He was very short with us and a bit snooty. Definitely expected better service for such a nice place like this. Our Service experience definitely put a damper on the evening. read more

I wanted to experience something different than the norm in Lexington. This place fit the bill. It is different and full of flavor. A little pricey for my taste; but so glad I tried it. The service is good. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. Especially for someone like me that had no idea what I wanted. They are patient. That is a real gem in restaurants now a days. It is a great place for a date night with your hubby, someone special, or a group of friends. They seem to seat you in sections by the what kind of night it is for you. I really appreciate that. Outstanding dining experience. My family and I were greeted by genuinely friendly, professional staff in a beautiful and elegant atmosphere. The food is outstanding - even our picky teenager loved every bite. It was the first time in her 18 years that she ever ate rice without drenching it in soy sauce. Not a drop! The Pad Thai was excellent. We received complementary potato/carrot soup we couldn't get enough of. My husband had a barbeque pork rib appetizer that just melted in the mouth and the sauce far outweighed my own (and I am a trained and educated chef myself). The food is all well-presented, perfectly cooked, extraordinarily balanced flavors and textures, and fresh ingredients. I know this for a fact as I have seen the chef himself buying fresh produce. Chef Nivit is always on the line with his outstanding creations from drinks to dessert. The gelato is to die for! He is well trained and creative in his dishes and menus. Considering his abilities and talent, he is quite humble and very friendly. They also will adjust dishes for vegan/vegetarian folks and varied tastes, such as spice levels. This place is truly the BEST of the best fine dining in this area, hands down. I will he recommending this restaurant to anyone and everyone who lives and comes through Lexington from now on. From the atmosphere, to the food, to the service, to the drinks, everything was amazing! I truly felt like I was a princess in a big city dining here. Not only did the hostess greet us and seat us immediately upon arrival with my husband, she made sure to let us know she reserved "the best table in the house" for us. She was very warm and friendly, boasting with pride that we chose to dine there that evening. Our server then greeted us and although it was difficult to understand her because of the mask, she was also very pleasant. We ordered a bottle of champange to celebrate our anniversary and the short ribs appetizer to start with. Man was it good! Then, my husband and I both ordered the duck because a super nice gentleman sitting next to us recommended it to us. He was a regular customer, come to find out. I got the brussel sprouts as a side and my husband got the fried rice as his side, although we really didn't need to order a side dish because the duck itself was very filling. Another neat detail about this place that my husband noticed was the cutting knives. As a collector himself, he picked up on the fact that their knives were imports from France. He pointed out their brand by showing me the fly symbol on my knife. As we sat there, enjoying our meal, I couldn't have felt happier! We went the day after V day.... Great experience from the beginning to the end, they didn't have seating for us, so we sat at the bar. Make sure you make reservations you don't want to miss out on this experience!! The restaurant is small but cozy and had a Thai feel to it, I have visited Thailand in the past. The hostess at the front door was very kind and made sure we were comfortable. I had a Bodhi blue chiffron drink which was non-alcoholic, and yes it was amazing! The chef sent over some carrot pureed soup which was a tasty treat! The bartender was very friendly and helpful. We ordered three starters chicken satay & toong tang, coconut chicken soup. Our entrees were salmon, roasted eggplant & duck cauliflower with brussel sprouts. All of the food was very much flavorful and indeed true Thai food without a doubt!!! The taste reminded me of my time living abroad, of course authentic food in Thailand is very cheap... Verdict: I will be back for sure, great spot for a celebration or just a nice dining out. I've been waiting to leave this review because it's complicated. I was so excited to go here because I got a gift certificate for my birthday. The location is great, the ambiance is nice, and it's clearly trying to be upscale. Our server was great and they were giving amuse bouches, lobster bisque, which was nice. I ordered a drink which came out smoking which was fun. Very very strong. We got an appetizer of wontons and they were just delicious and perfectly crispy. I got a side of pineapple fried rice which was just OK - definitely needed salt. My husband got the steak which he loved and I got the chicken which was so delicious, even though I wasn't sure what it was when it came out to be honest! The food was so delicious. The environment was really small but nice. The only thing that really colored this whole experience was that after my husband was drinking his coke, he discovered a dead smushed fly at the top of his ice. He discreetly told the waiter and he took it back and came back out with a different one (but same straw.) For such a nice restaurant, I was sure that something would be comped or we would be offered a free dessert or something. At the very least, that the soda wouldn't be on the bill. NOTHING. I don't even think he apologized. I really enjoyed our waiter, he was professional, so this surprised me to no end how he handled it. It was so disappointing. In hindsight I wish I would have requested the soda be removed, or something. Because as good as everything is, that's all I can think about now! So that's a bummer. Oh, also, they ask you the spice level out of 4 and I got 2 and my husband got 3. It was delicious, but definitely spicy, but I can't imagine a 4! The ambiance matches the food, you can tell it was purposefully planned filled with creativity. You can tell the chef is an artist of food in both taste and presentation. Appetizers we got: Ribs and pork belly buns, both were wonderful and complex. Will probably get them both every time, especially the buns! Entrees: Duck and Pork, both had great crisp/char and super tender. The saw for the pork chop was amazing!! I put it on everything. Accompaniments: Bodhi Fried Rice and Pineapple Fried Rice, both were great! Just good fried rice with the perfect amount of egg! Have visited 3 times now. 1x for lunch, 2x for dinner. Service from the hostess to waitresses is always top notch! Lunch is more traditional Thai and dinner is more modern Thai. Decor is beautiful and clean - dining room, silverware (goldenware lol) and plates. Collectively myself and dining partners have tried the Tom yum goong soup, toong tong, braised baby pork ribs, pork belly buns, chicken satay, pineapple fried rice, beef salad, salmon, sea bass, duck, filet and scallops, various mixed drinks, bodhi citron, Thai tea, dessert (I think it was taro) - and EVERY SINGLE THING has been AAAAAAAAMAZING! Each dish is artistically plated (sauces and flowers add that finishing touch to the dish). We usually get medium heat and it's PERFECT! Lexington is way too far for me to comfortably drive to regularly (yes, I'm being extra lol) but this is worth it! read more

Think it's the former Lexington State Bank whose vault is now wine cellar. So I heard such awesome Things about this restaurant so we wanted to give it a try! I'll start with the good! The amuse Bouche soup was amazing....so good-earthy and delicious. The pot stickers were really good and the papaya salad was super tasty. I really liked my steak entree as well. The bad....and it pains me to say this. The pad Thai.....had an off flavor and the chicken that accompanied it was completely tasteless. Also the water they gave us tasted weird. The dinner menu is overpriced. And items are very limited. The sea bass is typically delicious, but the portion is less than a quarter of the large bowl it comes in. Reservations are a must, but when you're seated, be prepared to be told that your table is reserved, although you reserved it. It feels rude and rushed before sitting down as the hostess makes it clear that your table is reserved for someone else after you. The cocktails, non alcoholic drinks and desserts are pricey as well. However the lunch menu has more to choose from and has more traditional Thai food. I prefer the lunch menu and the prices are more than half the price. It's a beautifully decorated old bank and the old safe appears to be decorated with the wine they serve as well as where they have their cash register and credit card machine. The ambiance, food and service was fabulous! The reason I give only 3 stars is false advertising; the search results said "upscale dining and atmosphere without the upscale prices". The restaurant should have 3 $$$ or 4 $$$$ instead of two $$. I'm sure that lunch is a bit more reasonably priced, but our dinner for two was over $200 (including tip) which I consider a little pricey for what we had. The dinner menu did not have many choices, and the least expensive entree was almost $30. My wife and I are new to the area and have been looking for places to try. This place was recommended in an article I read and also by a few people we have met so we booked early in the week. We started with a drink each, and shared an appetizer (Toon Tang) and steak salad before dinner. For dinner I had the duck with a glass of Merlot and my wife had the pork chop special. All of the dishes had great presentation and tasted even better! We finished up sharing a crème Brulé dessert with gelato. Our service was excellent throughout the meal. Overall a very nice meal and I would highly recommend this place - just think that people need to be aware that it is pricey. read more

They had us at the beautiful entrance and it only got better when we went inside. The decor and lighting is subtly romantic and prepares you for the dining love affair you're about to begin with Chef Nivvit's creations of love. Hubby and I began our love affair with pork ribs and chicken satay. The ribs are marinated in a honey whiskey blend and can be eaten with a fork. The chicken was very flavorful and paired with a creamy peanut sauce. We received a Carrot and Cauliflower soup compliments of the Chef that I could of had a whole vat of. Yes, it was just that good! Our entrees were pan seared salmon with Japanese and Thai eggplant in a green curry sauce and a strip steak with tomatoes, shallots and a chili lime vinaigrette. The flavors and presentation of everything received was top notch. Let me not forget to mention their creative and eclectic cocktails. The Siamese which is a lemongrass vodka mimosa concoction and a drink that I can't remember the name but follow me... an ice cube made of apple juice, cardamom and cinnamon placed in a scotch glass and covered with VSOP, lit aflame and covered, brought to table, cap removed and BAM a Smokey drink that gets more complex as the ice melts. This culinary love affair was finished with a smooth raspberry sorbet with blueberries and mint. This journey was beautifully steered by Donte and the Bodhi team. We LOVE this restaurant. We always have an excellent experience. We are always quickly seated, the servers are so friendly and lovely, which of course can make or break the experience. Our most recent visit (5/14) was for our one year anniversary, and it was just as lovely as our previous. Our waitress, Wendy, was very friendly and had some great conversation with us throughout our visit. For appetizers we ordered the fresh rolls, short ribs, and pork buns (and I highly recommend them). We also ordered drinks. I had the Bodhi Blue Martini (which turns a gorgeous lavender color once they add the lime juice at your table). For our entrees, I ordered the pork and my husband ordered the duck. The pork chops were grilled perfectly, and they were so tender. I also love the sticky rice and asparagus. My husband duck was also very tasty. The skin was a little crispier than he likes, but I thought it was perfect. We also ordered a side of the pineapple rice, which we also recommend trying (so good!). This day, we also received a complimentary potato soup from the chef that was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is also perfect for a romantic outing (dim lighting, intimate tables, etc.). Our family enjoyed a lunchtime birthday celebration here! The former bank provides an interesting atmosphere. We sat right beside the vault which was the servers beverage and prep station. We started our meal with the braised short ribs which were delicious but only 2 in an order. The red curry entree was flavorful. My daughter enjoyed a spicy pad Thai.
