Honestly, the last thing I thought I would find on a recent trip to Charlottesville was a good bagel joint. But I stand corrected. The Yelp reviews don't lie; this place is legit. The bagels aren't to heavy nor are they too "bready". They are just right. I can say that this location can get very busy in the morning. But to their credit they have several people working so the line moves pretty quickly. Prices are quite reasonable especially considering how good the bagels are. I've been coming to Bodo's since I was a kid & my order has never changed, I always get a bacon, egg & cheese bagel & it's always fresh & always delicious, plus it's cheap. Staff here are very efficient and quick despite being extremely packed most of the time. The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because they don't offer free refills anymore. Really, for bagels this may be the best in Virginia, perhaps some of the best you will find outside of NYC. Many times now I have made it a point to swing a touch out of my way to visit Bodo's when I am driving past C-ville when on 64. I don't think there are any bad choices on their menu. I was happy to support this business and other local small businesses through the pandemic. I waited 20-30 minutes in line to support them regularly. They have now reopened the inside of the restaurant but will not serve you if you don't wear a mask. After I said no thank you to an offered mask the employees refused to let me order. I clarified, so you won't let me buy bagels here and the employees looked away and asked to help another customer as if I no longer existed. It's really disappointing to see a business and it's employees treat the community this way especially to those that supported them through an uncertain time. Kindness goes a long way and unfortunately you won't find it at Bodo's. read more

Best bagels in town! I've always been blown away by how efficient their staff is, but recently have been even more blown away by how they've handled the cars that literally wind down the block. My brother, a UVA alum, swore by this place. I was a bit skeptical that any bagel shop could differentiate itself from the Paneras, etc. of the world. However, as usual, I was proven wrong. I knew that there must be something special about this bagel shop when I arrived. There was a line out the door. This is so Erin g that I haven't witnessed at Panera. Until now. I was in Charlottesville for a weekend and we stopped by Bobo's for a quick breakfast on a Saturday and there was a line, but it moves quick! I ordered an egg and ham sandwich on a everything bagel and it was out of this world. The bagel was AMAZING - so flavorful, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, the ham was delicious as well! My favorite thing was the price! The bagel sandwich must have been about $4? And it filled us up until dinner! No wonder it was full! You have a great meal for a great price! The ambiance reminds me of the inside of a wendy's or fast food restaurant - but don't let the unassuming decor fool you - at Bodo's your getting quality food. We loved it so much we decided to go twice that same weekend! Bodos is our first choice for takeout lunch, 2-4 times a week, has been for many years. In the past year however, we have experienced many mistakes with our orders. Spoiled lettuce or kale in salads, including an absolutely ridiculous kale Caesar today that was inedible- full of black spots on the kale. Bacon has been left off sandwiches numerous times, pesto spread forgotten on my wife's favorite BLT with pesto 3-4 times. We know to check orders carefully before leaving, but we are often in a rush (today) and do not. I feel that there is insufficient qc of orders. I love Bodo's! It's a go-to for practically every resident of Charlottesville, and for good reason. As there are several around town, I always assumed it was a popular restaurant all over the country and was shocked to find out it isn't a chain.
