Food: I got the everything bagel with avocado, egg, and watercress. The bagel itself was DELICIOUS. However, the egg was really not good and seemed more like the liquid eggs pre-made and thrown on (tastes fake). My boyfriend got a bagel that also had sausage and cheese. The cheese is just a piece of cheese that's not even properly melted on the bagel. Service: The cashier was actually not the nicest and didn't seem to understand our order. My boyfriend requested a bagel with 2 eggs (and we repeated this multiple times since she didn't seem to understand). Finally, she repeated the order back and it was what we asked for... Then we go the order and somehow we got the same sandwich...TWICE. So we were charged for 3 bagels instead of two as well. read more

As someone who went to UVA, Bodo's was part of the college student's diet. The business model is efficient and the fact that they don't toast their bagels simply because they're so warm and fresh makes it all the better. In my time here I have tried all the sandwiches on the menu as well as all the flavors of cream cheese. One may think that this is ludicrous and quite fanciful but in actuality it didn't take nearly as much money as one would expect due to the pricing being so low. It is, in my mind, the pinnacle of an efficient, delicious business. My suggestions for a first timer is to get the -Everything bagel with the jalapeno lime cream cheese, deli egg and sprouts. (the sprouts give it a delightful crisp and bitter bite to the savory cream cheese and deli egg) -Pastrami, sprouts, lettuce, tomato, and herb cream cheese; also a delightful combo, a bit heavier and a lunch idea but quite honestly fulfilling. -Cinnamon Raisin bagel with cinnamon sugar and butter. A fantastic treat if you're feeling in the mood for something sweeter but not too dense. read more

Like I have given the Bodo's on University, this is a four star bagel place. I like the bagels and they are consistently good. The price for a bagel with lox and schmear is only $5 which I think is fantastic. I am used to seeing the same thing for $10. The Bodo's on Preston has the same peppy staff and quick service of the shop on University. The big advantages of this one are free parking (and plenty of it), as well as more seating. The downsides are that there is more of a bright diner feels as opposed to the cozy ambiance given off by the dark walls and lower lighting of the other shop. Both stores make excellent bagels and I recommend Bodo's as breakfast spot for anyone who is in the vicinity. read more

I've never had their bagels, but their customer service is awful. I tried to order a gift card for a friend and they sent it to the wrong address. When I called to fix it I was hung up on because the kid answering the phone thought I was a salesperson. Once I finally got them to send the gift card to the right address there was no note as to who had sent it. read more

For the number of times I've eaten at Bodo's, it's amazing I haven't written a review yet... Bodo's is a Charlottesville/UVA classic, and for good reason. They have a huge selection of bagels (they even have a whole wheat everything bagel, which I order almost every time), cream cheeses, spreads, and toppings. You can go basic with just cream cheese, or build a sandwich as tall as you'd like. (Don't ask for it toasted though-they don't do it and they don't need to anyway because its delicious and fresh.) I recommend egg, cheese, and avocado. Their "no bull" patties (meat free) are actually delicious too-they're made of lentils and veggies. Bagels are super cheap too! You get a filling sandwich for under $5. Perfect for college kids on a budget. The only issue I have is the inevitable long line that you will find during breakfast and dinner time. You usually will wait around 10 minutes to order and another 10 for your bagel. But it is 100% worth the wait. read more

First time here- I think it is overrated and overhyped BUT it was good. I got an everything bagel with herb cream cheese. Bagel was really good! Cream cheese was good but a bit heavy on the cilantro for my liking. Boyfriend got garlic bagel with jalapeño lime cream cheese. His was by far a lot better! I will get it out right now that I am not a bagel person. Maybe a hamburger person. For sure a cake person. But I have never once just sat there and mused to myself, "Yo, I would ______ if I could get myself a warm, freshly toasted bagel." Then I had Bodo's chicken salad and avocado on an everything bagel. I've now fallen into the slightly troublesome habit of eating two bagel sandwiches in one sitting, because one is just not enough. I mean, duh. I've heard of Bodo's Bagels' greatness from all the way up in DC by some coworkers who went to school at UVa. Something about the pH levels of the water being different and that makes the bagels better? I don't know. But I love a good bagel so I was excited to finally try it after coming down for a football game. We got there around 10:30 on a Sunday morning after a Saturday game so it was really busy. We luckily got a parking spot and then got in the line... that was stretched 15 people outside the front entrance. That excited me right off the bat. People don't wait that long for garbage breakfast. The line actually moved really fast. The cashiers did a good job of moving people through with their orders and the other staff did a great job of getting the food out. I got a bacon, egg, and cheese on everything bagel and an OJ. I was really impressed by the bagel. It was toasted nicely and tasted super fresh. One thing that I think is underrated though was the egg on the bagel. It was an actual egg. Like they cooked the egg correctly. If you go to a place like Panera and get egg on a bagel you know what I'm talking about. It's just weird. So props to Bodo's for that. I've probably had a couple bagel experiences this good before but this ranks near the top. I'll definitely be trying to get back here next time I'm in Charlottesville. read more

Ugh this place. I craved it in college and years later I love it just the same. Bodo's is a well-oiled machine so don't ever be fooled by the lines - they are super speedy. The first time you build a bagel sandwich it might seem overwhelming since there are so many ways to customize it but the next time you come back (which you will because it's amazing) it'll be a breeze. Bagels are delicious whether you eat it as a breakfast sandwich, regular sandwich, or with cream cheese. I always get the same thing: everything bagel with turkey, sprouts, tomato, avocado, and provolone. I've written a review of Bodo's for the Emmet St location, which is my go-to, but if I'm closer to Preston when I get the hankering for a bagel, this location does just as well! It's basically the same exact lay out and the line moves just as fast, so don't worry if it's crowded. I love to go in for a bagel sandwich, but I get just as much pleasure from walking out with a bulging bag of a dozen bagels for when guests come into town and I want an easy, delicious, local breakfast treat. I really can't compliment Bodo's enough. There's a few places outside of New York that I've gotten a good bagel, but the consistency and affordable price point of Bodo's really gives it the lead. Best bagels in Charlottesville, definitely comparable to New York bagels. There are a ton of toppings and cream cheese to pick from. All the ingredients are fresh and the coffee is great too. The bagels are nice and crispy on the outside but chewy and fluffy as you bite down. Service is efficient and fast even during the busy weekend morning hours. Popular with locals. This place is constantly pouring​ out the door, but it's also doing something else, getting people affordable food all day long! This is as others have put it, a Charlottesville Staple. I was last there on the 14th and am going again today on the 19th. My husband and I usually go when we are out of bagels at home, so we come in and order bagels topped with goods like the Deli Egg ( chopped deli meats in an​omelet-style​e square) or the Hummus and sprouts. So we'll go in and get breakfast and leave with six bagels to go. This location has parking, speed, and takes care of my catering orders for the office. They are champs at the bagel game just like every Bodos in town! What makes this one special is the Columbo frozen yogurt station. This is my favorite among the bodo's bagels in town. It seems the bagels are always warm, whereas the bagels are sometimes cold at the other locations. We like the lox spread on plain bagel, or the roast beef with cheddar on salt bagel. The roast beef actually goes very well with the salt bagel. The down side is that it's often very loud, and if it's a Sunday, this place can be overrun by screaming children. They have a relatively big parking lot, but sometimes people are not looking when they drive through or back out, so beware. read more
