My wife and I dropped into Bodovino last night to get a bit to eat before our movie. We had been in before to sample some wine, but this time we thought we would sample the food. I'm so glad we did. I ordered the fried calamari, seared sea scallops, and a bowl of soup. Of course, we could not avoid sipping on a couple of light pours from the wine machines with our meal. As far as the food goes, it all exceeded my expectations. The scallops were amazing. Crunchy seared on the top and bottom, but perfectly cooked in the middle. Delicious. The Calamari was delicious as well, and my wife stated that soup was very good. The place was busy and pretty full, but we found a place to sit at the bar. The service was great, and we were able to make it to our movie with plenty of time. Very enjoyable place! read more

I travel for work and decided to give this place a try a couple of weeks ago. The bartender (Christian) was very knowledgeable with the menu and wine selection. My food was wonderful as well as the wine. He made sure I had everything I needed and was satisfied with my dinner and wine. Great experience! I was visiting Boise from OOT for a wedding and stumbled upon this place! What a Deal! Bottomless mimosas with no real time frame. I went with a huge group and there was lots of seating to accomodate us. Seating is open concept right by the center water feature so its a pretty busy area but pretty seating. The staff came around pretty often and even dealt with the loudness our group brought. $10.99 for bottom less mimosas? Can't beat that! We also ate some apps during the happy hour. We had the mozzarella sticks and margarita pizza. Both were good. It is also in this really really cute shopping area with all the shops I like so it was nice to walk off all the alcohol. read more

I have been a customer of Bodovino Ristorante at the Village in Meridian since they opened many years ago and I admit I should have written a review long ago about the amazing hospitality and service this place has given me. I typically go to either study, meet friends. It is also a great place to meet a date. The wine choices are amazing and they have a great happy hour with half priced selections of wine and specialty drinks with food as well. I want to highlight the team leader Larry who is always there to greet me and provide me with the best service possible. His staff is also a great reflection of him as well as they are in my opinion the best service there is. I will remain a faithful customer of Bodovino Ristorante at The Village. read more

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the great selection of wines at Bodovino. I enjoyed one of the Chardonnay's, while watching the fountains dance outside, through the gigantic windows boasted around the building. However, I was not overly impressed with any of the food (meatballs, bread, any of the spreads). The option to go up to the wine dispensers (not sure the official name of it) and pay for them yourself was a really neat feature. read more

Started off waiting at the front door for a few minutes without even seeing a staff member. I understand this may be due to Covid staffing so I will give them that. Staff members were incredibly nice. Upon asking a couple of wine specific questions they didn't seem very dialed in though. While I have to admit I don't remember specifically what they said, the spirit of their answers were very much in the, "I don't know, I think that one is really dry", level of wine talk. The feeling inside this glass walled building is actually pretty cool. I was there at Christmas so to see Christmas shoppers walking around outside added to the atmosphere. Then came the food. I had asked for a pasta dish but with a different pasta from another dish on the menu. I was told the chef doesn't like doing that. With that I thought two things: I know for a fact switching up pasta is no big deal, but maybe this is a chef with integrity. OK, I'll order something to see what this chef is about. I decided against pasta and went with their meatballs as I was having a good, meaty red. Also I am purpose order something basic first time into a menu. If the chef handles basics well the rest of the menu is usually very good. Well, I'll eat my hat if those meatballs weren't pre-bought/pre-formed. I have honest to God had better ones out of a bag from Safeway. I was asked if I'd like bread with that to dip into the sauce. Sure! Turned out it's bread they charge for. Wasn't informed. I only had one dish here, sure, but the BS about chef integrity over a pasta coupled with the eventual big fail of the meatballs left me not wanting to dip any further into their menu. I have to say the Dunham Bordeaux blend I had was decent. Not $15 glass in my opinion, but decent. Also a heads up for anyone going here for the first time - these are wines served from a dispenser. I don't care how "fresh" it keeps the wines, it's pretty damn un-sexy. My opinion? Go across the street to the giant Albertson's supermarket, get the fixings for meatballs, make them yourself, and spend the money buying a nice bottle from their downright fantastic wine collection. Money much better spent. Would have been two stars if it wasn't for how pleasant my server was. read more

So the location is nice. I like the wine concept but the food has been subpar nearly every time I've been. Ordered just garlic bread last time because I thought that's easy enough to get right, but it was hard as a rock and no longer warm by the time it was served. Takes a long time to get your food served most times as well. Lettuce isn't fresh on the salads, to where it's brown and smells. Just in general subpar. Not sure why they can't get it together with the food but I will go back for the wine and location. read more

My guy Christian.. Gentleman in every sense of the word. Got to Bodovino within 10 minutes of closing after he'd already wiped the tap down clean, he assured me it wasn't an issue to pour an IPA. After I finished, I asked if it was too late for another he said the till was closed & it wasn't doable.. 2 minutes later he poured another & surprised me with his shifter!! The only reason I go to this bar is the Bartender. My girlfriend and I absolutely love the drinks Christian makes. Neither of us have any clue it was a full bar.My girlfriend also said Christian is extremely fun to have a conversation with, normally this might be upsetting LOL, but honestly I have to agree! The young guy is just an absolute breath of fresh air in a world that's kind of out of control right now. Christian is a happy go lucky guy, and I think the world needs more of them right now! PS. Wine and cocktails are great. Staff are all incredibly friendly. Had some yucky food tonight but the server took the seafood pasta off of our bill. Wouldn't recommend the Salmon either. Charcuterie was $26 and small...like really small. Tiny slices of a couple of different t cheeses, 6 crackers, and a few other things like dried cranberries and dates. It was really good but I expected it to be a little bigger...like a lot bigger. I will say that the environment is sweet, staff are top notch and the wine and cocktails are amazing. Had a great experience the first time. Second time, I came back grabbed a Long Island and it's really not a hard drink to make. Watched the guy make it, barely put any alcohol in it, filled it mostly with water. I asked him to put more rum or something because after I tasted it, it was basically lemon water. Instead of having normal people skills, the guy became rude. He was arrogant (even though he can't understand how to make a simple drink), rude, and dismissive. I don't understand how the hell he landed the job, must be his dads place. Moral of the story is, if you want a Long Island expect lemonade. I had a gift card and planned to go the Bodovino at the village for first time with some friends. We were meeting for lunch. I drove in all the way from Idaho City to have what I hoped would be an awesome lunch with my close friends. Walked into the restaurant and saw a sign to sit where you want. Then I encountered a guy who told me that food wouldn't be served until 5:00!!! There was nothing on their website or signs posted outside. I traveled all the way from Idaho City ! This is so much of a disappointment that I gave away my gift card to my friend because I was so upset! There's no reason for this misrepresentation and disregard for customers who would like to eat, from what I have heard, excellent food. Bodovino needs to really get their act together and start catering to local people who travel a long way to eat at their establishment. So bummed about everything! I honestly think that Bodovino is misrepresenting their establishment by not stating that they aren't offering food until 5:00. They need to post it on their website as well as have signs posted on their door. I also want to say that I was also totally embarrassed to have walked in and told about the cooking situation. Went inside and checked with the person working the cash register if it was ok to sit on the patio, they said yes. Waited about ten minutes for another server to tell us there was a long wait and shouldn't have sat there. Told them we checked first, but offered to leave. Server said it was fine we could stay. Our first trip here was disappointing. The baked ziti was barely warm and certainly not baked. The bolognese sauce was flavorful but was not cooked long enough to soften the carrots. Table service was marginal. We noticed the table next to us retained their dirty dishes for over 25 minutes. I like this location so much more than the downtown one, but it's probably because there is an amazing playground right outside! Our kids played on a beautiful early spring day and my hubby and I had a drink and snack while our girls ran around and played!! They make a really tasty Bloody Mary! We shared a few small plates, clams, meatballs, risotto balls, and they were all really delicious! Overpriced wine .. I ordered a glass of red from the bar the other day and was asked if I wanted another , I said sure I'll try a Cabernet instead, tho they asked if I liked it fruit forward and I don't know what that means so the lady says " it means being punched in the face by fruit " I said that seems interesting , I'll try it . She said I know just the kind and handed me a somewhat small pour (but the last one was actually on the smaller side too ) asked if I like it and I did . When I finished and they handed me the bill and that glass alone was $14 so I definitely got played by the waitress because she didn't mention how much it was , and I didn't ask because I didn't assume it would be that much either . Not a fan of being mislead , especially when I'm at the Village of all places because it's just weird enough there as it is . I also got the vibe that it's a pick up joint for old timers . From what I witnessed older People apparently do blind dates here. So all in all , it's a weird place . Wouldn't recommend . I would probably go anywhere else . read more

Let's run down the list of why you want to try other wine spots. 1) EXTREMELY overpriced wines. If you want to pay 3x-4x times the cost, this is the place for you. 2) A restaurant run by millennials for a crowd of 30/40/50 somethings. And older. If you want to listen to 20 something rappers while you sip wine with your friends who are in their 40's/50s'/60's or more... THIS is the place for you. 3) the staff (younger staff) are EXTREMELY rude. The bar manager at this location forgets who pays the bills. To be honest, I'd avoid this place and if you happen to be in the Village.... try Kona or one of the other places. They honestly do not care about the customer here. Had a great first visit! Stopped in for a light brunch and really loved it. We took advantage of the Sunday $3 mimosas and ordered two side Caesars with a flatbread to share. We added chicken to the salad and that was quite yummy! They were pretty busy and prob could have used one more staffer but the service was reasonable and the team was very friendly and welcoming. Nothing to be intimidated about here. Love the wine is all visible and in beautiful displays and pour lines. Really neat to see! Reduced a star due to staffing needs and visibly seeing them remove masks etc while talking to customers (covid is not gone) and the flatbread could have been a bit more tasty. Going through other lower star reviews, I am glad others have had the same poor experience with the food and management. The food here is sub par and over priced. My friend and I got their charcuterie board and it was genuinely terrible, and like $25 I believe. The only cool part is the wine card, and being able to taste different wine selections. However, considering the absolutely awful costumer service here, I will be spending my money at local wineries instead if I want to go out with friends and go wine tasting. I recommend going to Yardhouse (they have a great happy hour) over this place if you're looking for something at the village. read more

She got duck that was way undercooked and chewy and my fish was so over cooked and dry it was horrible. Nice location at the middle of the village in view of the fountain. Every table has a great view even when you're not on the patio. I was a bit surprised they didn't have a bigger wine selection but the ones they had were good. There is a $3 charge to start a wine card but it doesn't go bad and you can use it at other locations. Our server seemed new and didn't know a whole lot but friendly enough. The food we got was great! The price reasonable. We will be back for sure. read more

I want to love this place. I've given it 3 chances and can't say that I'll ever go back. What my friend and I experienced yesterday was downright embarrassing and inexcusable for Bodovino. Sadly, it was my friend's 1st time, and I don't think she'll ever try it again, or recommend it to others. We arrived around 5:45 (Happy Hour), upon walking in there was LITERALLY no employees (this is not an exaggeration); the entire restaurant was full except one corner table, and not an employee in sight. We, while looking around unsure of what to do, sat ourselves. A few minutes later a very overwhelmed bearded older gentleman appeared from what I assume is the kitchen, and it was VERY clear right away he was doing the work of what should have been 5-6 employees. We sat at the table, unsure if we were even "supposed" to seat ourselves, the single employee looked my way a few times but never acknowledged us. I walked up to the counter and he, in an annoyed way, said he'd be that way. Eventually he made it over to us to bring water, but no mention of taking our order was made and he never came back to take our order. Eventually, after watching him help and take orders of 4 groups that walked in after us (they ordered from the counter....is that what we were "supposed" to do? Who knows) we went to the counter to order. I re-filled my Bodovino Wine Card (had a few cents on it from a prior visit and was still charged the $3 activation fee....is this even right?), I also ordered an Idaho flat bread and a house salad, however, the single employee was so overwhelmed, side tracked, distracted and incapable of doing it all that he ignored me twice, repeated back the wrong order, and overcharged me. I don't think he could focus on ONE customer if he tried because he was doing it ALL. My friend, standing behind me, purchased her first wine card, and also 2 happy hour food items. When the food arrived he ONLY brought mine and brought her a "plate to share". She reminded him she had ordered and paid for her own items; annoyed, he said he forgot and said he would go put her order in. So, we waited for her food while mine got cold. By this time we are beyond upset and thought it couldn't get worse, but it did. I get up to make my 1st wine selection, however, the wine bottle runs out half pour, when I tell the employee he LITERALLY ignored me, so when he saw I didn't walk away from the counter, I repeated myself and he said "I'll refill it when I have time" and I said "I paid for it", then his exact words were "It's a smart machine, it didn't charge you". So, thinking it didn't charge me I put my card back in for another selection and YES, it had charged me. It wasn't worth dealing with the overwhelmed, rude, overly busy single employee so I just dealt with it and took the loss. Clearly the machines aren't as "smart" as he thinks they are. A while into eating the same employee walked over to our table and asked if we were "ready for the check?" We looked at him confused because we both ordered from him, at the counter, and already paid. So, not only did this show he's not waiter material, how overwhelmed he was, it also left us SO confused because is it a counter service or table service restaurant? Does anyone even know? Does it change nightly? Does it just depend on how upset you get at your table after not getting service so you get service at the counter? I still don't know. Side note: 3 bottles of "half price" happy hours wines were empty. Anyhow, we left and laughed; it was THAT bad. We are simple gals, not hard to please us, but this was just bad, bad. How does a restaurant at the Village, especially during happy hour only have ONE employee working? And, let's, for a second pretend every other employee called in sick or took a break at the same time........at least ensure the single employee running the entire joint has customer service skills. Super disappointed! I loooove the Village and was excited about the prospect of a quiet, mellow upscale place to get a glass of wine or have a book club meeting but my first venture there did not go well. My mom made the reservation for 12 at about 3pm, a weird time when it shouldn't be busy and apparently the person taking the reservation asked if the party would be eating and drinking "because they couldn't sacrifice the space" if we weren't. Of course we were...maybe they have a problem with that, but I think it's really tacky to ask. We got there and the waitress seemed very flustered from the beginning. We were the only table in the place and drinks still took quite a while. We were not given silverware or menus until we asked and she was really confusing in her description of whether we could order from the lunch/dinner/happy hour menus. She took our orders, then came back to confirm the orders and "clarify how the checks would be split", then the food came out and the person delivering it was auctioning off the food ("who had the...?!") which is a pet peeve of mine in nicer restaurants. My step dad didn't get his food at all and when it finally came out they sent the wrong thing and he didn't get to eat until almost everyone else was done. I wasn't impressed by my sausage stuffed pastry from the happy hour menu (it came out two mildly burnt squares on a plate, not visually appealing), but almost everyone else said their food was good. Raves about the pumpkin bisque soup. My happy hour moscato was only $5/glass and delicious. Bottom line, I will try it again because I want so much to like it, but I'll probably stick to happy hour and simple orders. read more

Outstanding customer service! I was helping plan a surprise marriage proposal and needed a place for everyone to go after the proposal for a celebratory toast. They really went out of their way to take care of us, confirmed everything we needed when I set up the event, called to reconfirm the morning of the event, communicated during event since it was hosted so that we didn't have any surprise charges. Larry was great to work with and our server Mya(?) was outstanding. (They even reserved the outdoor patio for our group, which I dont think they usually do!)
