Now, I'm not one to write too many reviews. Only if a place is fantastic am I compelled to write a review... and Brea Body & Brain IS FANTASTIC! For those of you who have thought about yoga/meditation but haven't yet gone to a facility, this is not only the right time to start... but this also the PLACE to start. I've been doing meditation for about 8 months at a location in West Covina (it closed down, unfortunately), however, this place blows the other one out of the water. Just in the pure relaxation and energy you receive (and feel) in this place after sessions is incredible! Through my personal transformation, the following describes how I feel now compared to how I felt prior to Body & Brain Yoga: OLD PETER: I was stuck in my own mind's activity (I had a hot brain! You'll learn more about that later :D ). NEW PETER: I am now in a state of peace! I've learned the process of "water up - fire down" and it's had a tremendous effect on me on a day-to-day basis! ________________________________________________________________________ OLD PETER: I was living life day-by-day with a low level of energy and felt as if every day was mundane, stale, plain and uneventful. What do I mean by this? While socializing with others... I didn't feel a great connection, as if words flowed out of my mouth without meaning. Since starting this yoga 1 year ago, I have seen such growth, mentally and physically. the class was fine, it was pretty relaxing. but the push to buy a membership i didn't want was exceedingly uncomfortable. i said what i was looking for, they didn't offer it & held me back an extra 20min trying to convince me to buy their monthly membership for $100 or their three-month membership for $360 (which makes no sense btw) read more

i have practiced Dahn Yoga for over 11 year, i had a very high end job with demanding duties witch caused my health to fail me and i was only 27 years. Within my 1 month of my practice i quit smoking. i was able to manage my stress at work and became happy. Something i realized i have been missing for so long. For myself because of my experience and result this is the best place. i also have lost 85 pounds. To me my health happiness and Peace has no value. Sometime we spend our money and never see the value of what it was spent on. I can show the value i have spent of my self and is well worth it. PLEASE DONT GO HERE. I PROMISE YOU, YOU WILL REGRET IT. You truly don't know what your getting yourself into. First of all their sweet calm voices and compassion is fake. They make you feel like your great until you have to cancel. They make you think what they say is best but your forced. They can't take the word NO THANK YOU. THEY DONT LISTEN. Let's be honest. It's true. They asked me to join them and then have the nerve to charge me for a class I truly never was warned or let know of. Integrity.....Then they talk to you into joining them. Nothing is free. Trust is big. Broken. Broken. Broken. Fail. Fail. Fail. They don't speak well of massage envy which in turn is not a good work or business ethic. If you teach goodness and healing just for your information that is not a good trait. A basic membership their is over 500 bucks plus. Then after 3 months what more money you will have to dish out. This is a place not only provides you the physical exercise but it provides you the mental exercise. Honestly you need mental exercise more than physical. Perfect combination of Yoga, Taichi and some other forms. I was a person who loves fitness and exercises. I was associated with 24hr fitness center. I was thinking yoga are for old people who can't do much. But my perception changed when i joined this center. I had some neurological issues where medication didnt help. After many years, my neurologist said to start mindfulness and Taichi. In search of Taichi, I found this center near my home. It took me 2-3 months to understand the concept and philosophy of the training. with lots of hard work i completely left medication. I am a long term member now and i love going the the place and try to be at least 3-4 times a week. Master Amy is the best. If you are looking for inner healing.. this is the best place. read more

I was practitioner at this center for six years, since it first opened, and I can tell you it is a great place. I really think the previous reviewer is gullible to believe the stuff that started spreading on the Internet a couple of years ago. What she calls "chanting/ counting" is just counting in informal Korean, just like they use in Tae Kwon Do studios. How she can call that chanting is beyond me. There is definitely nothing about this exercise that is any more "religious and cult-like" than any other form of yoga. All forms (there are many, none "real" or "fake") of yoga have a spiritual element because that's what "yoga" means--unity of body, mind, and spirit. Please, don't fall for the fear mongering. Try it and find out for yourself. read more

I was born with a broken right arm (clavicle/shoulder blade) I was always considered left-handed even though every test I ever took showed my right hand grip was stronger than my left. Three years age I fell from a ladder landing on the concrete slab below on my left shoulder. I was very lucky I didn't hit my head and after all the tests (ultrasound/MRI) they couldn't find a broken bone but it was excruciating pain for about 3 months and I was unable to hold my left arm above my head for 2 years after that. I was a general contractor so that meant I was out of work. In my third year I took a crossing guard job because I could finally get my arm over my head again though not for long periods of time. Flash forward to 2 months ago I was over at my friend Tim's house and as it turns out his wife Jan is an instructor at Body & Brain in Brea. She showed me a yoga move called "plate balancing" even though it kind of hurt at first it felt great overall I could immediately tell it was doing me a lot of good. So I started doing it every day and even though I was sore it wasn't too much to do every day, twice a day so I made it part of my routine while I was doing crossing guard duties. I increased the reps to 30 per side twice a day and did it consistently for the last 2 months. Then something happened as my left shoulder was getting stronger from the ladder accident my right shoulder was getting incredibly sore until it finally gave way and suddenly felt normal without pain. I am happily surprised and can only give the credit to this "plate balancing" move. On a side note my breathing is at least 50% better and that's saying something because I have been on a CPAP machine for 15 years. Needless to say I also sleep better and don't feel as stressed out as I once did. I just started going to class once a week about a month ago and I already have doubled my energy level. I hope to start coming to class 3 times a week in the near future as I make it a priority to have yoga become a part of my weekly routine. Think about it; I just got full use of my right shoulder last week after a wearing a cast immediately after birth. I am 59 years old. Simply amazing!!! read more

I was highly disappointed. I went in for a private lesson and expressed my goal to increase flexibility through yoga. The instructor/owner assured me that I could met my goals and encouraged me to go to a class. Well, the class was belly exercises, repetitive counting, chanting "yaya" and singing ten little monkeys. I walked out of the class confused and disappointed. When I asked to meet with the owner she began to sell me on the cult experience instead of addressing my concerns. I would not recommend this place, I was mislead and now am out $200, only frustration to show for it. read more

My husband of 54 years was slowly dying with Parkinsonism/dementia and I was lost. It was 2009. I saw a brochure for Dahn Yoga-Brea at my nail salon.
