This was a nightmare from the start. Jen took forever returning emails but did answer my questions. Too bad she lied to me...I asked for the big and beautiful class ( for new and very overweight) I told I was NOT going to buy this unless she had these classes open. Since I was a little shy to be around people who work out every day and are half my size. I was also bringing my elderly mother. She told me "of course!" they were open and not just the regular classes. I also mentioned my health concerns of having a knee replacement and she told me to come in a half hour early the first day to discuss it with the trainer. I also got a email in the afternoon the DAY BEFORE it started stating the location had changed! No phone call no warning! I book this over a month ago so she had time to inform us. The lack of professionalism took a new meaning when I arrived at this new location and the lady at the new location didn't even know their was a bootcamp class there today because Jenn had never contacted her to let her know! Once our trainer showed up a half hour later I asked about my health concerns and he had no idea what to do or how to help. The last straw was when he had us run a around a few blocks in the dark in the street with no street lights . This wouldn't have been bad but a lot of the girls all were in much better shape than me and ran twice as fast. After not seeing another person in sight while running the blocks I was almost hit by a car. I did not know we were going to do this and wore my normal black work out clothes and tried to stick to side of the road. I didn't feel safe and was very shaken up. My mom said she couldn't run around the block was was walking instead but did not feel safe so just came back after a short time. The trainer didn't know how to answer the questions I asked. His standard response was "call Jenn." She also refuses to give refunds for any reason. This (who mess was because of) and she will take NO responsibility! She took my money and sold me on an option that would work with my schedule than moved studios, removed the shower and required me to drive across the street to her husbands studio to shower. Really??? At the time it was an all guys studio... Not only that, she comes to class late or just misses it. Unplanned training- basically she just has you do things at her whim. She caters to her friends. It is the worst. I asked for my money back because of the change in offerings and environment and she told me I should be ok with it. If I could, I'd give BBBC zero stars. Stay away. This was worse than simply a waste of money - it was a hoax by a scammer. The owner promises you individualized attention. This simply did not happen, despite several requests. The owner promises to provide recipes and handouts on healthy eating. Did. Not. Happen. The owner promised weekly weigh-ins, body measurements and coaching. Never happened. You are given the idea that you will be in a class with people at a similar level of fitness. Not so - students at all levels are thrown in together. Every student is given the same activities, at the same pace. I saw several folks injured because of this approach. "Classes" consisted of 60 minutes of running up the stairs of a public garage building and back down again. Over and over, until the class period was done. Did I mention that there was NO warm-up or cool-down, and no stretching?! Meanwhile, Jen - the owner - is talking on her cellphone. THE ENTIRE TIME. A woman in my class stumbled on the stairs and ripped open the skin on her shin. Jen is nowhere to be found. One last thing, and probably the thing that was the worst among a lot of bad stuff. Part of what Jen advertises is a boot camp for "Big Beautiful" women, meaning women who want to lose weight, yet she was obviously scornful of the two women in my class who were there to lose weight. Buyer Beware!!! I signed up for the Jennifer Gray Body Beautiful bootcamp excited for a life transformation. instead i was wildly disappointed and confused by the enormous disconnect between the website, the videos on you tube & the "best in detroit" by hour magazine all boasting a clean, involved and positive experience & the actuality of working out with inept trainers, filthy conditions and hidden fees galore. i went to the Royal Oak classes - the gym was disgusting. We worked out on carpet that was covered in hair, ants & dirt. the equipment was outdated, filthy and there wasn't enough for everyone in class. the assigned instructor, Michelle was consistently late, completely scatterbrained & seemed like she was more concerned about her workouts than anyone else's. Jennifer Gray rarely lead a class in Royal Oak, and when she was supposed to be there, she would be replaced with another trainer last minute. During class the instructor would high pressure sell items like "Juice Plus" which were never fully explained, but cost hundreds of dollars & could only be purchased through Jennifer Gray's bodybyjenn.com site. The only business line they have is Jennifer's cell phone - which she rarely answers and returns phone calls days later. and forget about getting a response for any information via email. overall this experience was horrible & i would like anyone out there who is considering joining this the Body Beautiful Bootcamp to reconsider. there are a ton of other great trainers, studios, bootcamps & gyms you can be a part of. take it from me. you do not want to waste your money on this. read more

You are paying for a good $$ for a boot camp and not just a work out however really just a work out is what you wind up getting. The appealing part of the gym is that you get to do actual kickboxing w/ the pink gloves on. However, more often you wind up doing circuits which i could just go to my regular gym for and not drive 25mins. The work outs are hit or miss depending on Jenn's mood, sometimes you don't even get to listen to music. When the classes are focused on actual kickboxing, you get an incredible work out that you can't get anywhere else and there are many great tools on the website that can help you with weight loss. I've been a member for almost 2 yrs and in the beginning we focused more on the boxing and I saw some real/drastic results!! My husband couldn't believe how great I looked. So Jenn..please get back to basics, most of your members love the boxing and talk before class together that they wish you would go back to your old routine. Tip: If you like the boxing, go to the classes that Dan teaches. read more

This program is over sold. The best word to describe Jenn is "flaky". Other reviewers who said she is consistently late, does not return phone calls in a timely manner, does not follow through on the personal help are 100% true. Jenn states her policy is to not allow makeup classes after the stated end date of your program, but she would rather refund you the classes. I had the situation where I was traveling for work and asked for a program of shorter # of weeks than was currently offered on her website. I do not recommend this boot camp. I purchased my 6 week package off Groupon. I really actually enjoyed the class, I had Janelle as an instructor at the early morning Birmingham location. After the beginning of week three the Janelle text all the girls from class apologizing and stated the early morning Birmingham class was cancelled. She told us to talk to Jenn for further information, I called and text her a few times for either an alternative location information or a refund, but I never heard back from her. read more

I have taken the body by jenn boot camop and Jennifer Gray is not what she seems. She is disorganized, rude, always starts 10 -to 15 minutes late (she likes to give "Demerits" if her clients are late even though she starts late). She cancelled my class at the location I was attending and wouldn't give me my money back - I was forced to drive 30 minutes out of my way to start a class 15 minutes late. Also, she likes to peddle products in her classes. Her husband Dan's classes are fabulous. read more

The Body by Jenn program is so much fun, and it works. I would recommend it to anyone interested in getting healthy. The workouts are challenging, but the time really flies. I started the program in January with a Groupon and was immediately hooked. All of the trainers are great and inspire you to work to your full potential (even if that means you're modifying the moves to match up with your current fitness level.) It's unfortunate that people didn't have as great of an experience as I'm having. I've felt supported and valued since I joined. I decided that I'd take advantage of as many of the additional opportunities offered in the program as my schedule would allow. It's like Jenn says, "This is your workout." So you're going to get out of it what you put into it. I am not writing this as someone who is naturally super athletic or fit (I'm not even particularly coordinated.) I AM writing this as the gal that often got picked last for team activities in gym class because I disliked sports and wasn't interested in getting dirty. I started boot camp on 2/20 weighing 174.5 pounds at 5'2, and not very active! The first day was very hard and intimidating and I was questioning what did I get myself into! I have used the resources Jenn had given us (smart eating plans, how to determine your caloric intake, amount of water you should drink, and target heart rate) yesterday I stepped on the scale and was shocked to see that in a week I had dropped down to 170.5, 4 lbs in a week, talk about empowering! Last year I was paying $50 a session for personal one-on-one training and an eating plan made specifically for me and did not see the results that I have already seen with the boot camp program (which equals out to $12 a session with the plan I purchased) I agree with Paula, it's too bad the other people didn't have a good experience like I am having, I have recommended this program to all of my friends! read more

In town from Dallas, TX to visit my family for the week of Thanksgiving and didn't want to stopy my workout routine while on vacation. I found Jenn on Google and decided to give it a try. Although I wasn't signing up for a long term membership, Jenn welcomed me with open arms. After the first workout, I was hooked! The high level of energy and intensity was amazing and the overall concept of a boxing aerobics class made the workout very exciting. I've attended class every day this week and no two days were the same. Her apparent tough love approach motivated me to keep pushing....no pain no gain. Why come to a bootcamp if you want to be pampered?! Now I can eat Thanksgiving dinner without feeling guilty. Very great concept and I hope you move to Dallas one day so that I can train with you! read more

I will start by clarifying that I am NOT rating the class or program- I am rating the orientation and giving reason as to why I decided not to move forward with this. I bought a Groupon for the six week slim down program which I thought would be great from all the info that was given. When I arrived at the orientation (where the classes would be held, in Troy) it wasn't an official location.. Just a run down dance center in a plaza. Jenn of course didn't show up until 30 mins after the orientation started (that's when it was supposed to end). In the meantime a woman named Janelle (very fit) took my measurements etc, tried to sell me on a contest that costed $, a juicer program, food program, and so on.. She was very impersonal. She degraded the fact that I am on WW and said that it does not work, basically ONLY their way works- period. And she was to judge me every week on my food intake. Then Jenn comes in, mind you she looks NOTHING like she does on the website... AT ALL.... Anyway, she was quite rude not letting me speak, interrupting me every time I tried, telling me once again that nothing works except what they do. She tried hard selling me on a million things making me feel extremely uncomfortable. Honestly, I felt attacked since I walked in the door by both of them. You could tell that if i didnt buy all that she was selling they were going to be harassing me about it constantly. she was already saying "everbodys doing it! everybodys doin it! Its up to you BUT ARE YOU GONNA DO IT??" very very uncomfortable and "in your face" aggressive. The whole thing seemed to be all about these other things i HAVE to buy and nothing much about the actual classes or program! There was also a Korean lady there who didn't speak much English and they were completely insensitive to her. They had an "Im better than you" attitude and demeanor and it just wasn't what I was looking for. I'm not and can't say that the program doesn't work- I don't know if it does or doesn't. I just know that the feeling I got when I walked in the door and met the two of them was not good and did not feel positive and definitely not motivational. So with that, I have decided on another fitness course and love it. Just my two cents.. Could be for some, just not for me. read more

I just finished a 3 1/2 month bootcamp with Jen. On the positive side, I did see results. Her classes seemed to work along with a healthy diet. However it's everything else that just sucks. I don't even know where to begin........on bootcamp orientation she was SO unorganized and didn't explain things clearly. I left so confused....one thing she did do is get me to spend over $100 on Juice Plus. I tried to ask her questions about it before ordering it but she is incapable of looking you in the face for 5 minutes and answering questions--total ADD like I have never seen before. She is late for class all the time and one time even left in the MIDDLE of my class saying she didn't "feel good" and needed to get something to eat. On Saturday mornings, the class starts at 7:30am and she actually shows up at 7:30 or 7:35 which is sooooo unfprofessional!!!!!! This causes you to only get a 45 minute workout by the time things get started when you paid (a hefty price I might add) for one hour. One time before a 6:30pm Zumbox class I was standing in the studio talking and waiting for her. She showed up at 6:45 and said "oh are you guys waiting for me"? Well yes we're waiting for you, you have a 6:30 class that's supposed to be happening. We started almost 18 minutes late and Zumba is not cheap there. The website boasts about personal attention for each person and individual counseling on your food log---complete bullshit. Like I said, I was in the camp for 3 1/2 months and not ONCE did she come up to me and say how good I was looking or that I was doing a good job with the weight loss. In fact, my last class she actually came up to me and asked me "what's your name again"!! Are you kidding me? I joined the class to lose weight for my wedding--hence "bootcamp for brides". In the beginning she made me fill out this personal statement on why I wanted to do the bootcamp and I don't even think she read it--not once did she say anything to me about my wedding or just acknowledge that I lost weight. It's nice to have a little positive motivation from the trainer but you probably won't get it from her. I was in her classes 4-5 days a week every week for 3 months. I'm not the type of person that needs to have my hand held while losing weight because I can follow an exercise and food plan independently. HOWEVER, when you are paying almost $200 for a "personal training-type" atmosphere, you expect a little more. In her class you just don't get it--it's just like going to a class at the gym only a hell of a lot more expensive. She has her favorites in which she constantly talks to (during class) and whispers to and laughs with making you feel really uncomfortable. Most people she never acknowledges though. Although if she sees 2 people talking, she immediately wants to know what you're talking about because she's probably paranoid you're talking about her (which i'm sure a lot of people did). She was just really uncomfortable to be around in general. She has terrible bedside manner and is a really poor businesswoman. She is extremely vain and spends the whole class checking herself out in the mirror (The studio is lined with mirrors on both sides) instead of walking around and checking people's form, etc She always pulls her shirt up during class to expose her "abs" but I have to say I was not impressed considering the amount she claims to workout in a day. It's just not really a positive atmosphere and she was really uncomfortable to be around. She had a really great trainer working with her but she quit soon after I started not surprisingly and that was disappointing for me. For the money, you won't like the experience. I joined with a friend and she couldn't stand Jenn either. I did Michigan Adventure Bootcamp after this one and the trainer there is awesome. He is always on time (he's early actually) and very motivating. It is also expensive but it was a MUCH better experience. He held a nutrition seminar before the camp started to make sure people knew how to eat right so they would be sure to see results--IF You will not get that with Jenn--you won't even be able to corner her for 5 minutes and get a few questions answered. Dave's workouts are very organized. You can telll he puts a lot of thought into them--you will NOT see that with Jenn. She just starts jumping around and does whatever she feels like--no structure. You're supposed to do one day of arms, one of abs, legs, etc---she never keeps track of this and does whatever body part she feels like that day, leading to an unbalanced workout. The whole thing is just really unorganized and you will be able to tell if you sign up. She is in way over her head with the amount of classes she teaches and doesn't have time to teach fewer GOOD ones. I DID see some results from the camp. I worked out 7 days a week (4 times a week with her and 3 at an aerobics studio). For the money though, there are much better bootcamps out there. I would not recommend it read more

She only paid attention to the "already-fit" girls of the class showing them how to better their techniques. She did not care about anyone else in the class. I am so dissatisfied. I am in disbelief that Body by Jenn is still in business. This is not a bootcamp. She takes your money, however much she can squeeze from you, and traps you with her no refund policy. Jenn shows a schedule on her website which is a complete hoax. I paid for a bootcamp that doesnt even exist. Don't sign up for her Rochester bootcamp because it's a 50:50 chance that the class will actually be there. No notice nothing. You show up for class and there's no instructor. You can't get a refund. If you call Jenn, she tries to get you to go to her Bloomfield class instead. She's so out of touch with reality that it's hard to even grasp. She just doesn't get why people are angry that the class that they paid for doesn't actually exist. She actually advertises and accepts money for classes that don't exist. read more

Jennifer Gray is the most unprofessional, scatter-brained trainer I have ever met in my life. There have been times when there were people ready to workout and she didn't even show up! The program is WAY overpriced and she makes it pretty clear that she just cares about the money. Her "bedside manner" is awful and she can be rather petty. I am completely unimpressed by her class. If you want a real workout, join her husband Dan Jett's fitness class. He actually cares about his clients and his classes are reasonable! read more

I first tried Body Beautiful Boot Camp 8 years ago, before I got married. It was great meeting other like-minded brides trying to get in shape before the big day. 7 years later, as a mom to a toddler, I joined a "regular" gym but my repetitive workouts quickly became too monotonous to continue. I signed up again for Jennifer's class because I knew that every class would be a great, high-energy workout, and she would hold me accountable for coming 3 days a week and giving it my best effort. It's only my second week as part of my 6-week boot camp, and I feel like I've already taken the much needed step toward improving my overall fitness. I especially love the new studio location-- it's totally decked out with full-size punching bags, bosu balls, steps and ballet barres for everyone and the class sizes are small enough that no one can slack off. Jennifer is always there to make sure my form is correct! I've tried joining standard gyms with fitness classes, but so far I haven't gotten as good a workout as I have here, maybe because it's a friendly supportive environment with other women who have similar fitness goals. I'm sure when my 6 weeks are done, I'll sign up again. My classmates who have been taking the boot camp classes for over a year are RIPPED! read more

I came across a Groupon for this so I thought I would try it, thank god I didn't pay full price! It was very unorganized. I went to the Rochester one at Superkicks and I wasn't sure if I had the right place because it was full of kids. She put us in this tiny corner and 1/2 way through the kids were finished and came running through our area, not to mention the parents all milling around in our area too - it was way too crowded, I almost tripped over and kicked a few kids. And awkward! I'm on the floor doing donkey kicks with dads looming over me and staring. Also it gave time options of 6:00 and 7:00, but then she told us that as beginners we should come to the 7:00 - information that would have been nice to know BEFORE I signed up since this time didn't work for me. She also left us with an assistant while she went and worked with the other non-beginners. The workout was good but I can work that hard and push myself on my own, the point of taking a class in enjoying myself and feeling like I get some pointers and encouragement from a teacher and I got none of that. I didn't even receive emails or anything? I have done Michigan Adventure Boot Camps and I recommend trying them if you're looking for an organized fun environment with trainers that actually care. read more

I started Jen's boot camp in May and got addicted to her early morning workouts! I went 3 to 4 times a week and felt and saw results in six weeks. I lost inches everywhere... Waist, arms, thighs and toned my legs, butt and abs. My husband and my friends at work noticed the results. But it wasnt without a lot of self determination, focus, hard work and a commitment to get up and go every morning. i've only missed one week since May because I was on vacation and I've never gone less than three times in a week because I love starting my day with her work outs. Jen pushes you and there are many times when I needed to be pushed, even though I wasn't happy about it at the time. She also encourages a healthy diet, making changes you need to make and being supportive of eachother. I feel stronger and healthier and enjoy wearing (new) clothes more than ever before. I have not been sick since I started either. Jen knows what she is doing! The key to getting results is sticking with it and making the commitment. I've seen so many people sign up and then not be consistant or not show up. You cant expect Jen to change your body if you don't make the commitment to come to a work out at least 3 times a week and make the effort to put good food in our mouth! read more
