One day while searching the "sales and offers near you" on Yelp, I came across Body Envy Houston's offer: IPL / Hair removal - All six sessions for three areas for $1700. Complimentary consultation. This was back in July/August, since then, I've had two sessions and seen a drastic difference for the better. So it's about time I Yelp them. The Consultation: Meet with spa coordinator Karina and certified laser technician and registered medical assistant Felicia. Two knowledgeable gals who go into detail about IPL (intense pulse light), pre- and post-treatment; you also fill out a questionnaire, ask as many questions as needed, schedule a day to do a test spot, etc. The Treatments: I have a high tolerance for pain, and let me tell you, this was more than I expected. But it's so worth it! Just after my first treatment is when I saw a 90% reduction in hair. This is no exaggeration. Felicia warned me that after the first two treatments, you'll see dramatic results, and she was not joking. She's also very thorough with the machine. "We don't want you to have to come back," she says. So she sets the IPL machine to its highest setting (per your comfort level) to maximize results after each session. I appreciate that. And as an FYI, IPL allows them to treat the most sensitive and delicate areas of the body and of all skin types/pigments. You can pay in full or in three easy payments with no interest. And the spa just relocated across the street from their former location in a cozy, clean and more spa-like atmosphere. Came here because I purchased a groupon for a 1hr custom facial with red light therapy at Body Envy. Scheduling was very easy, as they don't limit the days/times they accept groupon clients like most places do. I was able to schedule a Saturday 1pm appointment. They have their own parking lot so parking is easy. Inside is calm, clean, and relaxing. I was immediately greeted and offered a drink while filling out my paperwork. I had a facial with Cossette who was amazing! She did an excellent job at making me feel pampered. She went over my skin history and did a facial catered towards my skin needs. She gives an AMAZING decollete massage! After my facial, my face felt so firm and rejuvenated. I woke up the next morning and my skin was glowing. I highly recommend Cossette! I have been here years before for a chemical peel and it really improved my skin after just one. Well I came back because due to the COVID lockdown, I wasn't able to get two of my medications after I ran out. With that being said, my skin took a turn for the worse. I broke out so bad on the side of my forehead and chin and it left scaring. I did their Perfect Peel with Tabatha who was very nice, informative, and professional. The process wasn't long at all. Maybe, 15-20 minutes. On day 3 I started peeling and peeled for about 4 more days. I returned for a follow up visit and compared the results. They were amazing after just one treatment. I went in a few months ago after researching several places around Houston that provide laser hair removal. I was impressed with the online presentation and information, and was even more please and comfortable after my consultation with Sheri. She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable--she took the time to answer each and every one of my questions, but never made me feel as though she was trying to 'sell' me on anything. I have had two laser sessions so far with Sheri and have been thoroughly impressed with the process and the procedure. It was amazingly quick and Sheri takes time before each session to talk about last time, the results, and any concerns or changes we made need to make. In fact, I was so happy with Sheri's knowledge and expertise, that I booked a facial with her a few weeks ago. Again, I was blown away. She listened to my needs, and even once we got started she changed our approach a bit to match the needs of my skin. This spa can't seem to retain their talented laser technicians. Two laser hair removal professionals I was seeing have left in the last year. It takes a while to build a rapport, especially doing personal areas like the bikini area. Typically, services with a tech get better and better the more they get to know you. I also think it was detrimental to my services that I paid for in advance, meaning I didn't really get my money's worth. I don't know what is going on internally, but I'm definitely looking for a new spa where I can find some consistency. Update to include my response to the comment below: Switching tech's halfway through is indeed a switch. And because I still require 4-6 more treatments to get the results I'm hoping for, switching again is another switch. The reference to 'not getting my money's worth' refers to the session it takes for a new technician to adjust to your pain tolerance, etc, which results in the best possible treatment. In my experience, the first session with a new tech is more trial and error, and the best results happen once a rapport is built. Additionally, I found the tone of your response combative! Y'all ... I spend a lot of emotional energy and personal time on my face. I suffer from adult acne and if you name it, I've tried it. I've been every dermatology recommended oral medicine or cream at least twice (including accutane twice!). After this most recent experiment which includes expensive and painful laser therapy from my dermatologist that didn't yield very fruitful results (although it DID cost an arm and a leg!) ... I decided to move more to the medical spa sphere. Just chance that landed me here. But ... now I'm HOOKED! The extraction services are fantastic and more thorough than my dermatologist's care. And best part?? I have the clearest skin I've ever had in my life!!!! No harsh creams, and thanks to relaxing extraction services. The prices at Body Envy are some of the lowest in town, if I had know this two years ago when I bought 6 microderm treatments and 6 laser hair treatments during my "beautify my body" phase, I would have saved myself lots of MONIES. I heard about Body Envy through their Groupon promotion ($40 for $85 of microderm or chemical peel treatments). You have to schedule a separate consultation session with their esthetician (think her name is Danielle) before you can start your treatments. Danielle was very thorough in her analysis and really takes time to understand your skin to put together a good regimen. I ended up getting the 30% salicylic acid chemical peel treatment and added a mini-micro for $40 more. Yup, 4 minutes of ultimate burn. But sadly, beauty hurts. They give you a portable fan that you can use at your discretion to help ease the pain. And throughout the process, Danielle was very calm, kept me distracted, and even wiped away my tears!! It obviously takes more than one treatment to see material changes, but I have noticed less grossness around my nose pores. I've heard plenty of horror stories of people getting chemical peels at professional salons. I've also done at-home chemical peels before (psshhh 5 stars Amazon my butt) and they've either done nothing or miserably scarred my face. I've just started hair removal treatments with Body Envy, so this review is preliminary and will be updated on an on-going basis (and I will be starting photofacials with them as well). Thus far, they have been very friendly and explained the details of each procedure. Test spots are always done and a thorough health history is taken to ensure safety. My fiance started treatments a month ago (no more man-ape, ladies!!) and I am excited to see the results thus far. And I was excited that this was more affordable than I ever thought laser could be. Yay for no shaving!! ***UPDATE*** 8 Months Later **** Alrighty! My bikini line is looking fantastic and just in time for bathing suit weather. Here go the nitty-gritty details: You need to do the whole series of 6 sessions-- don't try to skimp or you won't get results. No, the laser won't get rid of *all* your hair. It's good for about 90% reduction. I still have some strays but they are fine instead of course-- nothin' a little nair can't handle. And you can get touch-ups, which I may just do. My fiance is lookin' good but will also need further touch-ups (he's a hairy guy!!). Sorry, TMI. The scoop on the photofacials: I did 4 sessions instead of the recommended 6. My skin is stubborn to respond to anything (I actually fly back to San Francisco for facials with my esthetician because my skin is so stubborn) and the sun spots I was hoping would go away only faded slightly. Felicia is my new favorite name. She has changed my life forever! I started going to Body Envy after they participated in the Hot on Yelp Spa Week. I purchased a 6 treatment laser hair removal package with both some excitement and fright, and I am really glad that I did! The girls at Body Envy know their shiz.. After a thorough consultation with Karina, I was set up for my first appointment with Felicia about a month later. After just one treatment, I saw dramatic results. The only downside to laser hair removal is that it takes time (I completed my sixth treatment almost a year later), however most people see results after just one treatment. It is well worth the wait though. If you are nervous about trying laser hair removal, this is your place. I've had nothing but positive experiences and Felicia was really good at calming my nerves by being thoroughly informative and totally real about what I should expect. Felicia and Karina both truly want you to get the best results, so they may ask you the same questions every single visit, but it's for your own good. I can appreciate that. My advice? -Ask questions, because they have all the answers when it comes to IPL Hair Removal -Schedule your appointments well in advance and try your hardest to keep them because there is a $100 cancellation/no show fee. (They call you to remind you of your appointment the day before.) -Rescheduled appointments typically will be pushed out at least a month from the original appointment date because they stay booked. -Plan to be on time. They're about the only place who doesn't keep you waiting in the lobby after your scheduled appointment time. -Prepare to feel some pain, but nothing unbearable. It is WORTH IT! My only complaint is the parking. It can be tricky because it is street-side and in a residential area. However, that would never stop me from coming back for treatments. I was nervous and skeptical, but this place had good reviews and the prices were moderate (I'm wary of anywhere where the prices are really low - I want good quality and I'm willing to pay for it). I found a good deal for Body Envy and decided it was time to finally do it and I'm soo happy I did. The staff there are great! They really do a good job informing you about the procedure plus I liked how they don't pressure you to get more areas treated. No complaints. Customer service was great and locale was clean and sanitary. They were always able to book me regardless of my complicated schedule and they followed up with me over the phone when I had questions that could not be answered on the spot. The only thing I think they could improve on would be the parking situation although that may not be possible given the fact they're located in midtown, in the middle of a neighborhood. Tabatha James is an extremely talented and meticulous esthetician! I absolutely love her! I would not trust anyone else but her with my facial needs. The location itself is easy to get to, I travel 30 min coming from west side of town. The building is quaint and fresh, i enjoy the cozy environment perfect for relaxing.
