Receptionist are rude, dismissive and incompetent. Spoke with manager regarding their confusion with appointments and booking. Manager said her receptionist cried and was so offended that I spoke to her and called her dumb. I would never call her or anyone else dumb. Its appalling to have patronized a buisness for eight years and have a mishap with a scheduled appointment and management defend and avoid the incompetence of her staff. Manager chose to focus the conversation as to what her receptionist claimed I said. Not once was I asked what happened and how or what error was that prompted me to ask to speak with a manager. So odd for a manager to emphasize the conversation on her staff being so disturbed and upset. It's so dismissive and disappointing. Esteciatan there is amazing. However customer service is not part of their buisness model. Too many amazing spas in Houston; to apologize for staff incompetence. read more

Came here because I bought a groupon for laser hair removal and was very pleased with my first appointment. Pros = Love brittany! explained all the side effects, very efficient, did a great job - nice location, clean room, good aftercare - lots of parking - free coffee! - punctual, no waiting Cons = difficult to make my first appt but maybe the groupon made them crazy busy. had to wait about 3 weeks for an opening that worked with my schedule am looking forward to using the rest of my groupon sessions and if they keep up the good work will get my other laser needs met here! read more

Wrote my initial review when I was angry. When I got over it, I decided to give them another try and I'm so glad that I did. The staff (particularly Denise) is so helpful and courteous. I spoke with 'Mary' about laser hair removal. Very informative and answered questions I didn't even think to ask. She let me know exactly what to expect. I feel like they know and care a great deal about the services they offer. Sandy is always amazing. She's very professional, she knows her craft, and any questions I had she had adequate answers for me. I love getting my treatments from her. It is my first time getting laser hair removal treatments, and she's definitely made the process seamless! I have melanitated skin, and I was a bit leery about someone treating me without burning me (I've seen tons of horror stories). Thankfully, Sandy has surpassed the highest expectations. Went in on two separate occasions for lip filler and I showed pictures of how I wanted them and everything still not happy with the outcome and I went to two different injectors. My lips almost look exactly the same as before. I had to go to a DIFFERENT Medi Spa for correction and I was finally happy with the outcome. I believe the injectors here are only use to doing older woman that want really subtle lips. This is not the place if you are young and want real full lips. I found this place after my skin started to act up again and my Groupon facial lady had only 6 months under her belt. She and I were not working out. I started to Google for places and this came up on my Yelp search via the awesome reviews. I took a chance and felt confident because it wasn't an "Asian" owned place (no offense to anyone Asian who actually owns a spa). I have this really big beef with Asian owned spa practices and not that all of them are bad... They have many facial types but a clinical facial is $105. Before my actually appointment, I scheduled a free consultation with my facial lady. The location is next to Edwards Theatre and it is upstairs all the way in the corner. It is very isolated and lonely. My first trip there, I was starving and scared. I remember thinking to myself "why am I paying $105 to walk into a shady building located in the middle of no where?" When I walked in, the girl in the front welcomed me and she gave me some paper work to fill out and paired me with someone she taught matched my standards. I cannot even say or spell her name but she has blond short and is Russian. The consultation lasted about 20 minutes. She checked my skin, looked under the light, examined my troubled areas and did a few extractions to show me what I had lurking around. I knew immediately than that I would return as I have finally met a true facial pro. I walked out with an appointment to come back a week later. When I arrived for my actual appointed, the same lady greeted me immediately and she asked me to fill out a few pieces of information. The facial lady was there and she walked me to her room. She did not seem to mind that I was late. She told me to take off my shirt and change into a white robe. She pulled back my hair and we got started right away. She asked if it was ok to wax and shape my eyebrows and I said yes. IT WAS FREE AND PART OF THE SERVICE! I am usually really nervous about people touching my eyebrows but she didn't take off anything, simply cleaned them. The facial: We talked about my skin care as she worked on my skin. She cleansed it twice using massage motions and prepped my skin for extractions. She turned on the steamer, put on gloves and went to work. She warned me that she would be using a lancet (a small needle) to poke my skin and the extraction tool. She said she does not perform "foo-foo" facials, as they do not work and are a great waste of money (the facials that make your face glow right away and are relaxing). I will have redness, feel discomfort and look worse than I have when I walked in. She was not wrong. Extractions: After cleansing, she turned on the steamer and started poking away. It really hurt especially when it got to the sensitive areas like around my jawline, the sides of my forehead and part of my cheeks. I felt like she examined and poked at every inch of my skin and I looked like I was getting beat up by tiny bees. She really took her time and made me feel painfully welcoming as if I was the only patient in the world. The mask After the poking and probing, she applied a high current-frequency to my skin and explained to me that this wand is zapping away bacteria so that I do not get any new breakouts from the facial. Then she cleansed my face and applied a cooling mask. The massage: While the mask was put on my face, she goes on to massage my neck and the upper part of my body. This is best part after I felt like I have beaten up by pins and needles. Calming Down: After the mask is rinsed off, I get a face massage and she applies on sunscreen and sends me on my way with samples and another appointment in 2 monthes. Days After: While I have to admit that I look really bruised when I walked out, the results that came 1 week later was beyond words. My skin is glowing and no scars are left on my face. The pimples are flat and on the way to healing. She recommended I come back in 2 months time. I felt so great when she said I would only need to come back every 2 months. It makes me feel like she actually cares about me instead of trying to make a sale by saying oh you need to come back every month. She did not push any products. In fact she gave me samples but never asked if I wanted to buy them. I brought back my brother and my boyfriend the following weeks. My boyfriend asked if he could come back in 2 months after he came home and saw results after a week. She actually is very informative and makes you comfortable about using products that are not sold at the spa. She gives you information that is tailored to your skin and the knowledge you need to maintain the results. I highly recommend the Russian lady if anyone is going there for their facials. read more

Was not impressed. The good: -I got laser hair removal done on several areas. Although I did not complete my treatments (due to unhappiness with this particular business), after 3-4 treatments I can definitely see an improvement in the thickness and amount of hair that remains behind on the treated areas. -Caroline, who did my consult and a few of my laser treatments, was awesome. Really sweet, very thorough, was totally on top of things. If she left and opened her own spa, I would follow her. Unfortunately those were about the only positives at this place. The bad: -Receptionists at the front had no earthly idea what was going on. Every time I went for a scheduled appointment, there was mass confusion about what area was being treated. One time they tried to bill me $50 more than what the set price was for a particular treatment--thank goodness I had my consultation sheet with me so I was able to, after some argument, convince them I was right. -The laser technicians (aside from Caroline) were pretty bad. I had two other women, one of whom was "let go" because she wasn't doing a thorough enough job and would simply speed through treatments to get the appointments done. -The price. At the time of my consult, I was told I was being given a steep discount due to the amount of areas I wanted to get treated. I should have shopped around: I have since discovered other places that are just as clean and professional but that charge much less for the same treatments. Due to the fact that I was being ripped off and endured a 10-minute argument every time I walked in about what my appointment was for, I decided to discontinue treatments here and go somewhere else. I'll keep my fingers crossed that Caroline strikes out on her own, because she really is fantastic, but until then, I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

Do not go here. I came here last year for laser hair removal on my face but still feel the need to warn people about my experience. They did a test first and burned my skin. I had a black burn mark under my chin. It looked horrible! The reason my skin was burned is because they used a broken machine. I went back and the doctor took a look at my burn mark and apologized. She asked if I felt cold air when the laser was zapping and I told her no and that's when she said they used the broken machine on me. No wonder it was so painful. I even told the lady doing it that this was more painful than getting a tattoo. I was so upset but glad that the test was done under my chin and not on my cheek. I wish I still had the pictures so I can post them on here but they did take pictures and keep them on file themselves. read more

I wanted to try something new so I got a lash lift by Angela, it was relaxing, and she was very gentle. I love the results, because I don't always want to wear makeup, they look naturally curled, and were tinted as well! I would definitely do it again! read more

First of all, this place moved. I don't know the exact address but they are in the Costco shopping center on Richmond and Weslayan. I wish I could give this place 10 stars, or even 100. I've had laser hair removal on all parts of my body here with fantastic results. The technicians are top notch and everyone who works there are truly the most friendly, caring people ever. They treat you with the utmost respect, are great to talk to, do not over charge you and truly value you as a customer. My lady, Sandy, is AMAZING. I have never been treated so well anywhere in my life. The prices are so reasonable and they get even better after you have been with them for awhile. They truly value your business. and most importantly, RESULTS RESULTS RESULTS. They know their stuff and know how to choose the best laser for your skintone and what you need done. I've had sub par experiences at other places and going to this place after that...it's just like night and day. Their new place is beautiful--big, roomy, minimalist, nice relaxing music. And I'm not sure how they do it, but you are never waiting around in the waiting room for more than 1 minute. Also, you're the only one there. I think they space it out so that it's very discreet and you're not sitting there with a bunch of people. This is truly an example of a business done RIGHT. Extremely right. Other businesses need to learn from them. I've gotten so many parts of my body done because I've had such good results and have been treated so well. I guess the only negative would be the location. While there is PLENTY of parking, the people in this area do not yield to pedestrians. I almost got run over three times. But that has nothing to do with Avante. More like douchy people in the Greenway Plaza area. For this reason I'm scheduling my appointments early in the morning to avoid the lunch crowd going to Bullritos and Firehouse subs and the afternoon shoppers at Costco. I've been visiting Tamara at Avante for years. She is a great service provider and I always leave happy. I've had facials, waxing, laser hair removal and microderms with her. She is professional but down to earth and really easy to talk with. I never feel like she is trying to up-sale or push products on me which is a huge plus for me in these types of places. I've been coming here for a while to have a number of areas receive hair removal treatments, and I've had two very skilled women (Sandy & Caroline) performing them. I can safely say that I'm 100% happy with the hair removal results here, and though I do wince when I pay (wish I had found a groupon!), in the long run it is totally worth it. The lobby is always spotless with free refreshments, the treatment rooms have always been completely clean, the two techs have been very hygienic, friendly, provide excellent aftercare, and most importantly they get to every single spot. I have been a client of Avante for over 10 years. But the last visit I had with them will be my last. When I started going there for botox there was a Doctor who administered it and her injections were painless and very effective. She was fair and honest and would tell me exactly what I needed and I never felt pressured into any treatment. Since she has left every time I go in I see a different nurse or practitioner. Never the same person. The last time I got botox was 8 days ago. They said they are injecting me with 58 units of botox . which was shocking to me ( I have been getting 20-35 units ). I am 47 years old and been getting botox for 12 years. I have more wrinkles this time than I did with 30 units. I am sorry to say that I am never going back to them again. When I told them about the problem, they said they wanted to see me before they make any decisions. After the consult she told me I need to come back again in a week. I don't have the time or patience to keep going back. The manager has never called me to talk to me about this matter. I will take my business to elsewhere read more

Wow! Talk about being overly impressed! I had gone to 2 other places and was so disappointed. But from the minute I walked in the door at Avante it was amazing! The front staff was so friendly! I came in for Botox and laser hair removal consultations and was a bit nervous. I walked out with my botox done and I signed up for laser. I had a sample treatment (i think they called it spot test) and I thought it was going to be so painful, but I was pleasantly surprised. It didn't hurt at all. A little sting and that was it.
