Finally decided to try wine tasting closer to home. Hubby and I came here on a Saturday afternoon and instantly fell in love with Bogle. It's a cute and cozy with beautiful grounds. We frequent Napa a lot but rarely bring our kids because we understand that (most) wineries really isn't a place for kids. We loved it so much we became members. We discovered Bogle wine at Cost Plus a couple months ago, and have been buying their wine at Food Maxx, Trader Joe's, Safeway, etc. ever since. At ~$8-$10 a bottle retail, their wine is a steal for the level of quality. The Cabernet is one we keep coming back to every time we can't decide what else to buy, and we never regret it. On a lazy Saturday afternoon, we decided to drive up to Bogle after realizing it's right in our backyard. Somewhat remote, in a cozy little bend next to the Sacramento River, Bogle Vineyards is a quiet, calm, homey, and beautiful place for wine tasting, and they're doing everything right. Tastings were on the ground floor and were complimentary (major points). The ladies pouring knew what they were talking about for the most part, and the Christmas lights strung around the barrels in the cool dark room made a mini party of everyone tasting. A couple bachelorette parties trickled in and out as we sampled (and re-sampled) our favorites. Once you've finished, go upstairs and buy a couple bottles of what you liked best to take home (they range from $11-$20 a bottle), or grab a bottle for the back lawn - they loan you the glasses for free. This was a great 1st stop, on our very 1st venture to Clarksburg! A complimentary tasting offered a surprising number of both white and red wines. We had the place to ourselves on a weekday morning; the male staff member helping us was very nice, and took the time to explain the history and the wines he was pouring. Pretty and peaceful grounds, offering shade for the outdoor tables out on the lawn, next to the vineyards. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic to sit outside with a glass or bottle of wine (a very limited amount of food is available in the tasting room). Fun find and stop, nice staff, and reasonably-priced wines. The final road leading to the winery is narrow and unnervingly, without a shoulder on the right side, closest to the river; I was just glad that I didn't encounter another vehicle coming from the opposite direction! read more

My boyfriend and I planned a fun weekend getaway in the Sacramento area this past weekend and of course had to make a stop at one of his favorite wines vineyards. I found it quite pleasant as we found ourselves lost in the winding roads alongside the Sacramento River. It was a beautiful afternoon so loved how private and hidden this gem of a winery was. As we approached we took in the beautiful scenery, long rows of vineyards, gorgeous trees that surrounded the area with lovely fall colors of orange and yellow leaves and a nicely decorated building where you were greeted by a very friendly host. The bottom floor is very aesthetically pleasing as they sell lots of merch and wines as well as cute home decor relics. We booked the patio tasting and was pleased as the view we had from our table. Our server was very friendly, especially considering the e were 30 minutes late due to traffic but not once did we feel rushed or unattended. The wine selection was outstanding. Being we love winery scouting, this is the first time we'd attended a tasting where we had the option to choose 5 different wines for our flights, which let me tell you was very reasonably priced considering all the wine we tasted was superb! Beautiful location and delicious wine. They have plenty of space to sit down and enjoy their wine and your company. The upstairs tasting room offers a beautiful view of their land, although the tasting area can get quite constricted when they are busy, but that's OK as the staff is great and they do their best to get to you quickly. I love just about all their wines, but my constant favorites are Chardonnay, Essential Red, and Phantom. You can't go to Clarksburg and not go to Bogle Vineyards, it's a must! read more

You Don't like pets, I boycott your wine. Staff trained and have shitty attitude toward pets. They gave me the stink eye and would not offer a tasting. Real snobbish. Our family drove out to the Sugar Mill to go to one of our favorite wineries, we decided to stop in at Bogle since I really enjoy their wine and since we had already drove an hour to get to the area, we figured we might as well! I was really excited to take my parents to the tasting room. We had my two children with us 3 years and 18 months. As we approached the tasting room, me hand in hand with my son we saw a sign that stated no children allowed in the building unless bad weather. I walked in to inquire to see if it would be okay since there was only 1 other person in the tasting room and 2 people outside. My children have been welcomed in other wineries before, so I was VERY surprised to be greeted with such a rude response, including you could leave the kids outside to run around and come in and grab your wine and go back outside again... I said, "and what leave them unsupervised?" Which the reply was "well this is more of a bar atmosphere.... " if that's the case it was a dead bar..... The woman was very rude and the look on the gentleman's face was the look of embarrassment. It was almost like he couldn't believe what this woman was telling me. If you have to try so hard to have this type of non family environment for a family vineyard then we won't be purchasing wines from you anymore not even in the grocery store. It was really disheartening to be literally turned away because 1 person was in the tasting room.... now sure whose atmosphere we would be ruining.... looks like you only want a certain clientele and obviously families aren't one of them, so for that reason we won't be coming back and no longer purchasing any wine. read more

First of all this post is solely based on about the bad customer service we received. For my birthday we decided pN going here to do a little wine tasting and then buying a few bottle of wine and going out on the patio area. First of all the people inside doing the tasting They came off somewhat standoffish. I tried to let that go because I wasn't going to have them ruin my birthday. After we got done at the winery we realized we accidentally had left 2 bottles of wiNe at thE patio area. We called them twice letting theM know we left our wines and if they can please put it aside so we can come back and pick it up. I'm not sure if they truly couldn't find it or even bothered to even look. All in all maybe it was just a bad day to go but the winery does have the potential to be a wonderful experience but some people working there can make it not even worth coming out there. read more

We were told they are quite happy for you to let your kids play on the grass outside unsupervised while you taste even the 18 month old really!!! I am a member of several wineries and have never come across this before. It was a Thursday afternoon and only one person in the tasting room!! Have you ever heard of PR??? Bogle is crushing more than just grapes! My husband and I have been longtime Bogle wine buyers in the supermarket and decided it was finally time to visit the vineyard. Please note that reservations are needed. The first thing you notice is the sheer beauty of the Delta, coupled with the extra special care that Bogle takes to make their space welcoming and tasteful from the first moment you arrive. When we approached the reservation desk, we were greeted like old friends and given a glass of bubbly. Truth be told my heart is easily won with bubbly, so they pretty much had me right then and there. We had a few moments to browse around the shop before we were greeted by our friendly wine guide. The shop is adorable and stocked with all kinds of swag to commemorate your visit our give as gifts. We sat on the balcony with an umbrella covering to shelter from some of the heat. The views of the vineyard from this vantage point are breathtaking. Now for the wine tasting-sweet luxury with a does of extra love and attention to detail. The wines are fantastic! We were provided with a personalized menu to select our flight of six wines. If your paralyzed by making decisions, do not fret! The menu also comes with pre-curated flights based on varying tastes. We ordered a charcuterie box with our reservation and it was delightful. As a gluten free eater, I was especially grateful for the gluten free crackers (I did not request these) which were individually wrapped to prevent cross contamination. Our flights arrived with handwritten library cards (I won't spoil the story) and our wine guide was perfection. She made sure we were comfortable and happy, but also allowed us space to enjoy our time. We were the last couple at the vineyard and were watching staff shut down the patio. We started getting that "we don't want to be those people feeling" when our wine guide appeared. Instead of shooing us along, she offered us a tasting of a brand new, unlabeled blend. This ensured that there was plenty of social distancing and no one felt crowded. We chose the rosé and the essential red wines, and we were not disappointed!! We got there around 2 pm and they turned us away the door for being "full." They recommend we go to sugar mill down the road instead which ended up being a BLAST. I've been to Bogle many times before and remember it being a family friendly, relaxed environment. I went today for the port and chocolate event and had one of the rudest staff people! The staff person selling tickets was so rude, 1 star for them, so I'm averaging it out at 3. I arrived with my three children and was told, "kids are NOT" allowed here, only in the lawn area and MUST be monitored at all times". Fine. I hear you. Love that is the first thing you tell me, not "welcome to Bogle" or "hello" just get your kids out of here. So, I went to go find the people I was meeting and get my kids settled in the "designated kid area" only for the same rude person to chase after me and yell at me for not buying a ticket first. I'm sorry, if I can't have my kids in that space how am I supposed to buy a ticket. Make up your mind! Once I bought the ticket and wristband that came with it the same rude person insisted on telling me twice that I had to keep the wristband on "AT ALL TIMES". it's a wristband, the whole point is that it stay on. It was such a rude way to start off the event. I felt very attacked for bringing my children, the person made it very clear how they felt about kids being there. The event itself was great, 5 stars for that. There was wonderful wine, you got to try future wines out of the barrel and they were pairing the wine with cheese, chocolate and strawberries. First time visiting Bogle! I didn't realize it was so close to us, it made for a nice afternoon. They do tastings inside, and have picnic tables in the back where you can sit and enjoy your wine right next to the vines. They also have some snacks for purchase inside, and there was a pizza station outside as well. Something to note if you're planning on visiting, there were mosquitos outside on the lawn. Bogle Vineyards has been on my family's hit list for a long time. We enjoy many of their wines that we have bought in retail stores for years and continue to do so today. It was great to find that they pour things in the tasting room that you cannot get anywhere else. That being said, I expected to like them more than I did. The part that really puts this at four stars instead of three for me is the setting. I suspect many other farms and wineries in the area have a nice plot, but the building and yard layout of Bogle is top-notch. Even though I have kids, I can really appreciate the "adult deck" at the far end of the yard. There were a number of kids there on the day that we visited (including mine) and it's great that the winery has set up such an environment. But it's also nice that they considered and accounted for the adults that want that experience as well. The drive to get there and the setting at the winery were great. I just wish, after visiting, that they'd pour the same stuff that they ship to retail stores. read more

Used to love Bogle and have been members. Since COVID Bogle has opened but members no longer get free tasting. Further, they charge members $100 to reserve a table for tasting. The positive is that we explored to find other wineries, such as Grand Island Winery, just down the road, that has free tasting for members and their guests, no fee to reserve a table. Other wineries we belong to have continued to provide free tasting to members and no charge for reservations. So Long Bogle. read more

In the mood for a meandering country drive? Don't want to venture further than 15 - 20 minutes? Like wine? Then I would recommend Bogle Vineyards. After you make your way through the winding roads and take in the delta breeze, you'll spot Bogle on the left. There is a picturesque picnic area, which is limited to probably 10 people or so. I think there was only one or two picnic tables the last time I looked. The tasting room is a treat and I've always had friendly pourers there. They have some cool gift items too - really liked the wine-colored lip balms, choose from Merlot to Cabernet. They also carry Earth & Vine sauces, based in Loomis area, they are my favorite! I dig Bogle's petite syrah and every now and then you can catch a special case "cellar door only" special. They tend to be summer wines - roses and white blends. Just don't imbibe too much. One of those roads heading back out borders a swampy Scooby Doo-looking body of water and you wouldn't want to be too uncoordinated! read more

So as it was mothers day, I made it happen just for her! This is a beautiful facility with plenty of charm! I saw families bring picnic baskets and lounge out in their beautiful lawn! What a great idea! We were the first ones to arrive, So there was no line for us! We got right in and started the tastings! Unfortunately i couldn't have much as i was the designated driver for my mom and grandma! This was their day and i enjoyed watching them enjoy themselves care free! My mom tried all the reds and my grandma tried all the ports! So many options! In the end i bought my mom a bottle of the pinot and my grandma a bottle of the port! I highly recommend a trip out here to anyone! it's slightly off the beaten path, Just as your about to get there you start to question yourself as to whether you made a wrong turn somewhere! lol. When traveling to the Clarksburg area this past winter, I was surprised to find a wonderful variety of vineyards that offered wine tasting. Why did it take me so long to seek these out?!?!?! As we were driving around, we found the Bogle Vineyards and tasting room. The tasting room is quaint and a little small, but the customer service was outstanding. We were encouraged to try not 2 or 3, but all the offerings. They were busy, with a large boozy party taking up almost the entire room, but our pours were generous and we were taken care of. The entire layout of the vineyard is gorgeous, with views for miles, a back area to relax and drink and the 2 story wooden building. They have a small variety of wines, at excellent prices. The basics include the Chardonnay, Essential Red, and Phantom. I am more of a white wine fan with a sweet tooth so I loved the Gewürztraminer. They seem to always have a selection that is half off, so you can get a bottle at a very reasonable price. While this is not Napa/Sonoma, the wines are good. Good prices, nice mouthfeel and enough of a variety to serve with any meal. I always buy a few bottles and I am never disappointed. Given it is so near Sacramento, this is a lovely spot to stop and relax. read more

Seriously, what more could you want? I am not a member yet, but have been several times with friends who are members, and on their open house tasting days. I think my next step is to become a member so I'll have an excuse to drive out here and get tipsy more often. The employees are super nice, the venue is gorgeous, and the wine they sell is cheap! Some wineries try to jack up the price at the winery like you're buying a freakin' shirt at a concert - not Bogle! I especially like the Old Vine Zin or the Chardonnay. If you don't think ahead to bring your own food, they do have a couple crackers and cheese type snacks available, but nothing substantial.
