Bolay is the new business I've been most excited to have open in Gainesville. I visited a Palm Beach location last November and was really impressed by their great bowl options and delicious juices. Today I attended their grand opening (I sadly was out of town for the soft opening), and was delighted to find my memory served me correctly- this place is great! I ordered a small bowl which gives you a base, two vegetables, a protein, a topping, and a sauce. For my bowl I split my base and got both the Peruvian quinoa and the Asian sweet potato noodles. Both were seriously amazing- so flavorful! I decided to skip the protein, and get three veggies, and ordered the brussels sprouts, balsamic mushrooms, and the broccoli. The mushrooms were baby portobellos, and were quite tasty, as was the broccoli. The brussels were the only disappointment. For some reason they tasted like corn. Very odd. I chose the mint tomato topping and the Thai sauce- both were delicious. I also enjoyed the Gatsby green juice which was the perfect size (and just 90 calories), and delicious! Minus the corn flavored brussels, I really enjoyed my meal and can't wait to go back. Bolay is my favorite bowl place in town. I have been here a few times and each time I experienced excellent service and the food was delicious. I took my brother who was visiting from out of state, and he loved it! The restaurant is Chipotle-style where you walk down picking and choosing ingredients to include in your bowl. Their menu includes bowls with set ingredients, however each time I visited, I made my own. In my bowl, I typically chose sweet potato noodles, garden green beans, balsamic mushrooms, pork tenderloin, minted tomatoes, and cilantro pesto. Bolay is a bit pricier than other bowl places, however the price is definitely worth it for the quality and the taste, and I can stretch the small bowl into two meals. Their customer service is great. They're happy to let you sample the ingredients and answer any questions you have. If you dine in, they check in on you every now and then, and sometimes hand out samples of their kombucha. read more

This is honestly my favorite quick service restaurant in town. The options are always fresh and I feel good about eating here, health wise. I am especially fond of the sweet potato noodles (warm) or cilantro noodles (chilled) as bases. The vegetables are all well-seasoned and normally they rotate (probably an indication of their commitment to fresh, quality ingredients) but I am particularly fond of the brussel sprouts, mushrooms, zucchini. I typically get the lemon chicken which is always tender and nice cuts. The 'bols' come in two sizes: small and large. The small always ends up being just the right amount of food for me but the large bowl gives you an additional base and extra protein. I was just in today and I was impressed by the customer service. It's nice how their sauce come in small containers so you can adjust how much sauce you put in. Kinda setup like Chipotle (Actually owned by the founder of Outback) you pick proteins and veggies, rice etc and the put it all together in a bowl for you. Sweet potato Thai noodles are excellent and the jasmine rice is perfectly seasoned. They have gluten free and vegetarian choices too. Thier drink selections are a bit strange but not bad. Stopped in here for a bite to eat a little while ago. I had been once before so I knew what I was going to be getting. First item of note is that the parking lot is kind of tight. If you have a large vehicle, it is not going to be a lot of fun parking here. Entering the place, the flow of ordering and service is a little disorienting. When you enter through the front doors, you see the counter, and it kind of looks like you should just head straight for it, but the entrance for ordering is off to the left and only accessible from the front of the store, so backtracking through the restaurant happens a lot. I sat and observed this happening multiple times while I ate. The food is good. It is all pretty much bowl based, with multiple layers of veggies and proteins. I kind of wish that there was more variety in what they had, as I felt a bit shoe-horned into some of the choices, but it wasn't bad. I will probably go back at some point or another. Whenever I come here I usually get my CantGoWrong bowl (in food section below) but it will vary depending on my mood. It's always good to switch things up and experiment sometimes and this place is a good changeup from regular fast food or eating out places. I really enjoyed the sweet potato noodles, mushrooms, steak, tuna, and mint tomato add-on they had available. Often times they run out items on the bar which keeps people waiting but hopefully this will get sorted out in the future since they are a relatively new place here in Gainesville. PRICE (3/5): Expect to pay around $10 for a small bowl here and around $12 for a large bowl here. The portions are generous which is nice. The only thing I wish Bolay did better was better label what food items cost more money.
