Signature Build Your Own Bol
Jessica G.

Best bowl you'll find! They have a pretty straight forward set of ingredients that are very elevated. I built a bowl with the rice noodles (japchae style is what they actually are) and the kale salad, threw on some roasted broccoli, beautiful cherry tomatoes, almonds, cilantro, and tofu. I was so impressed with the protein portion - normally I have to add more. The tofu was perfectly chewy but not overcooked. This spot is definitely my new go to! You absolutely have to check it out :) staff and management is lovely.

Located in a strip mall with easy access and plenty of parking. The staff are very friendly. Bolay is well lit and modern in decor. The selection of bowls are different than what I was accustomed to. The ingredients were fresh but they lacked tuna. On the website it showed it for an up charge but it wasn't available. They had salmon so I opted for it. Interesting take on the poke bowl but one I am not a particular dan of. Ian old and don't do change well. Bummed out not to be able to get tuna. The rest of it was good just dry salmon versus tuna the tuna wins. The drinks looked pretty tasty. I had a bottle juice and water and then turned the corner and there were the other juices and teas I had seen on line. My bad for not scoping things out better.

Bolay never disappoints! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and packed with great options to mix and match. The staff is super pleasant, efficient, and great at multitasking--no matter how busy it gets, they keep things moving with a smile. The restaurant is always clean and well-kept, which makes the whole experience even better. Honestly, it's become my go-to spot and definitely my favorite compared to Fresh Kitchen.

Wonderful delicious variety of fresh food. The black rice is so nutritious and delicious. Yummy. The mushrooms, sweet potatoes and avocado taste amazing. The extra charges for avocado and salmon are petty though. Overall very good meal.

This place has pretty good food and has very quick service. The ambiance is alright, nothing special but what you would expect for a fast casual place and it definitely has plenty of seating

What a delicious place! It's everything Chipotle/Cava wants to be. Absolutely great bases, I adored the kale salad with the jasmine rice, paired with very flavorful chicken thigh and your own assortment of toppings and sauces. Very reasonable prices too, service was quick and kind, and the interior was clean and well-maintained. Was a great place overall. Definitely a new Gainesville favorite.

Amazing flavor!! The person who served super friendly always smiled. Typical of most modern themed restaurants these days.

My regular sized bowl with kale, beans, broccoli, tofu, red onions, feta, and ginger turmeric sauce.

My friends and I were searching for a place to grab food after a football game. We came across Bolay and grabbed some food before heading home. We enjoyed our bowls and how customizable you make your bowl. I ordered the regular bowl and did one base, two veggies, one protein, toppings, and one sauce. I picked the kale for my base, broccoli and beans for my veggies, red onions and feta for my toppings, tofu for my protein, and ginger the rice sauce for my sauce. The flavors were great and everything tasted fresh. The bowl was a good size and I even took home leftovers. My only tip is that there should be more toppings put on the bowl. I did not get a lot of Feta cheese or onions on my bowl. It would be nice if another scoop was added. Other than that everything was good! There were plenty of seating options for diners and the staff were friendly. I will go back to Bolay when in the area. Try it out if you have not!

My job frequently gets catered lunches from Bolay but it was fun to try out their physical location in Butler Plaza. The staff was friendly and it was nice to see the full range of options in which to build my bowl. Despite being able to pile your bowl as high as you want with proteins, noodles, and other veggies, Bolay always feels like it's fresh and that I'm eating healthy. The creamy garlic and herb sauce is not to be missed. Bolay has chef-inspired bowls as well as healthy wraps. There's another location near the University of Florida in midtown so there's no excuse not to check out Bolay!

It's a cute little shop with lots of bubble tea flavors like milk tea, taro tea, oolong tea, fruit…read moretea, cheese foam, and more. They also have seasonal flavors! There's lots of yummy sweets in the bakery like chiffon cake, cheesecake, basque cheesecake, cream puffs, burst cake, mochi, crepe cake, french macarons, and more. It's near the Enson Market. It wasn't too loud inside and there were plenty of places to sit. I think it would be a great place for a date or to meet up with friends. My order: The matcha green tea w. coconut milk (no boba). I also tried the tiramisu mousse cake. The green tea was really tasty, the tiramisu mousse was just okay IMO. Why I left a four star review: There weren't a lot of dairy-free milk options, the price point was a tad high, and there are too many other boba tea shops in Gainesville with a better price point and flavors.

Look, I'm not from Gainseville. I'm from LA, on a visit, and LA is home to the best Chinese…read morefood/asian food and desserts in the country (don't let NYC tell you different). So the fact that I'm giving this place 5 stars means this place is stellar. It's not a place I would even expect to exist in a small place like Gainseville, let alone be THIS GOOD. BUT this place is THAT GOOD. The cakes were all LA tier, maybe even Taiwan/China tier, which is Saying SOMETHING!!! I travel a lot and my experience with asian stores in small towns has always been subpar. It might look authentic, etc but then the taste will disappoint and I'm reminded why the 626 in LA is known as an Asian food haven. But this store tasted straight out of the 626. I walked in looking for Asian desserts because I can only go so long existing on wypipo food tbh. I noticed there's a nice new Chinese market next door and the staff inside was all Chinese, speaking Mandarin - very encouraging. I looked at the cakes. They looked legit! Real Asian cake store level. But I still told myself to lower my expectations with the taste so I wouldn't be disappointed later. I bought four cakes and two drinks. Would have bought food too but their kitchen was closed (I came 30 mins before closing). Tbh, the drinks are just fine. I've had better, these were a tiny bit watered down - but still decent. The guava and lychee flavors we got were very prevalent and there was a fresh lime slice in mine. But the cakes!!! The cakes are 5 star. The cakes are LA worthy. TAIPEI worthy. What is this store doing in Gainseville?? I sure hope they survive. I have to come back to Gainseville often for medical events, so - I will be coming to this store EACH TIME. Please, please stay open for me. ;) The cakes are perfectly light, soft, not too sweet. (If you know Asian desserts you'll know what I'm talking about). The mochi layers inside were perfectly done, sweet, smooth, very QQ. Everything from the injeolmi flavor to taro paste to mango gelatin layers - all the flavors were there in just the right way. The textures - perfect. Lady M can't compete with the crepe cakes. The basque was cooked to PERFECTION. The mochi round cakes - like eating Taro clouds. This is not an amateur bakery, folks. This bakery know what they're doing. You have a gem here, Gainseville. I literally logged into Yelp to leave this review for them. Please do yourself a favor and try their cakes - Try them ALL. Experience the beauty of Asian desserts. I feel like every single thing here will be done perfectly. I know I'm gonna keep coming back to try more!

I ordered the Banana Foster and Lucky Charms. It took about 10-15 minutes since they're made fresh to order, but they came out warm, soft, and in a pizza box. Nice little courtyard-side restaurant in a townhome community…read more The food was quite good... authentic sides including farofa. The main dishes were rich and flavorful... tried the Moqueca- mahi in coconut milk, and the Feijoada- a rich pork stew... both with rice. It was drizzling lightly off and on, and when we walked up we asked to sit at a table under an umbrella close to the building, providing some cover. The server told us that table was taken, and we were seated at a table far out in the courtyard basically next to the parking spaces under a tree.... It had no umbrella, so we did end up getting a bit damp. And, being a longer trek from the restaurant meant that the service was haphazard... for instance, our waters were never refilled. The food made up for these shortcomings, but if there is a next time, we'll be more assertive about sitting on the actual dining patio. The slower service resulted in not staying for any desert... we'd had a long day and were ready to call it a night, but the passion fruit mousse sounds interesting. No one ever came to claim the table we were turned away from at the start, it turns out.
