Man. Awesome food, and genuine service. Showed up at 7:30 to a full restaurant, minus two tables. Our server told us soon after we sat down that they were a bit behind because they had a ten top come in and unexpectedly put the kitchen back a little bit. No worries, I'm never in any hurry when I go out to eat. It truly impressed me when a couple came in and the owner met them at the door and told them that the kitchen is running behind but if they're willing to wait, he'd be happy to seat them. That was awesome. He could have easily sat them then let them deal with it, but he gave them the choice to turn around and leave before even sitting down. Our food didn't take alllll that long, but I did notice that the kitchen seemed to catch up all at once and the table next to us didn't enjoy that at all, seeing tables get served as they were. Unfortunately they might not understand that some entrees take longer to prep than others. I saw the review from the unhappy soul at the table next to us, and his "out of earshot" conversation with the owner was anything but. He was rude and in his face and throwing his hands around. He was actually the worst part of my experience because I had to hear him loudly complain the whole time. I truly hope he can find peace in himself because there's obviously more going on there. I'm also the guy who "sent his steak back." I want to be clear, I didn't send it back. The owner noticed us talking and came over. It was only slightly more red than I would've liked but it was still a delicious steak and I would've been happy to eat it. The owner insisted on tossing it back on the grill for me, so I'm not sure where Jay figures that the owner doesn't care. Maybe he just didn't like being berated and was thrown off. Jay also doesn't seem to understand small business. Yes they were out of some food. They can't prep a truckload of everything, can you imagine their throw away at the end of the night? If you want to know you'll always get something off the menu, go to McDonald's. If you want to support an amazing local business, check this place out. All in all, super impressed and will definitely be back. read more

I was wonderfully surprised by the quality of this restaurant. We went here after trying to go to a dockside restaurant down the street and receiving poor service. This place is really cool! Small establishment with a small bar. The wait for our drinks was a little longer then desired and the beer my buddy wanted on the menu they didn't have so it took even longer then. However, the food made up for it. It was one of the best meals I have had in a really long time! I could eat there everyday of the week. It was a little pricy but you are getting what you pay for and it was well worth it! This place is your typical restaurant not bad but not fantastic either. It is small inside but cozy, despite it being small, we didn't have to wait to be seated. They have a full service bar and a fairly extensive drink menu. The menu is limited to a few items in each category which is not a bad thing. I tried the pot roast, it was good, my husband tried the dinner special which was the chicken fried steak. Ok, but too much salt. The staff seems nice but their personalities are little to be desired. My only real issue is the prices. They are steep for what you get. read more

We didn't have a good experience last night. We had 6 people dining but, only 5 of us were there so we had to wait outside in the cold to be seated. I asked if it mattered with their tables that they had. She said that we all had to be there. My daughter was there is about 10 min. girl outside was friendly. Our server was nice and friendly too, and I asked the Server if She could recommend a nice sweet Red blend and She wasn't familiar with the wine list because She was fairly new. I saw a Man standing behind the bar {I think he's the owner and we were right next to the bar, he could see and hear us) I asked him if he could recommend a nice sweet blend red wine for me and he said "why didn't you ask your server this"? He wasn't busy and he was just standing there with his arms folded. I told him that the server didn't know about the wines because she was fairly new there. The red he recommended was dry, no body and bland. The Server came out with my Daughters Martini and tried to pick it off the tray two different times and go over my daughters bottle of Root beer that was on the tray twice spilling it, on my sister and her purse. If it doesn't work the first time it should tell you to get the soda bottle out of the way! They do fill them to the top. We were a very pleasant group and not complaining. My Lobster bisque didn't have a lot of flavor and the claw was very fishy. The Mussels were also very fishy tasting. My Alaskan Halibut was a little dry, it needed salt and more flavor and the black truffle risotto was very bland, dry and needed to be cooked longer. My daughters hamburger was rare in the center so they did replace that and take it off the bill. She didn't get her new hamburger that was cooked perfectly until the dessert came out. The waitress kept on telling us that everything takes a long time to cook. We didn't mind we we're there for the 1st time and wanting to enjoy everything and visit. We all decided to try their carrot cake. The table right next to us had a huge piece of cake, like a forth of a whole cake. We all decided to order a piece and share that. The piece that came over was less that half of what the table next to us had for just two people. I just called over the Manager to tell him (same guy with the wine recommendation, who doesn't know the wine he sells). I asked him who cuts the cake with a smile because theirs's next us us was huge and ours was way smaller. He said "what do you want? Two pieces of cake" Three pieces for cake or four?" I told him no that we are full and we wanted to taste some of your desserts but, I told him that things should be more consistent with their food. He said that nothing is consistent here we are a restaurant, and it's all from scratch. I told him dessert should be consistent, it's already made. He was rude and walked away. The crab cake appetizer was mostly overdone with Horseradish. The bus boy was a very hard worker and very nice. The other waitress did help to bring food to the table. My Daughters are servers and they've had to study their beverage list and know about the whole menu and study it before they were on their own at a restaurant. Our server was nice and busy. French onion soup was good as well as the lobster mac and cheese that two of our daughters ordered. Overall for the attitude of the rude Owner (who hangs out behind the bar) and the small plates being ok, fishy muscles and the entrees not having much flavor, we will not be back. There is another Tapis restaurant in Algonquin that never fails to disappoint. their food is full of flavor and their chef is very talented there. Spending over $300 was a waste of money there. Heard good things from yelp about BAF so though we would give it a try. First the good.....Cute little place. Now the bad.... if you love cheese you must try the VOODOO fondue, little crab, pickled artichoke when should have been roasted and three or four small pieces of red pepper YUM! ALSO.....the creamcheese poptart with a hint of lobster is to die for! Franks redhot sauce dominated the chicken nuggets, still don't know why they call it alligator on the menu. . This place has some serious service issues. I want to start by saying that new chef brought on board by the old owner puts out some excellent food. Our reservation was for 7:00. The house was half full, warning sign. First drinks showed up at 7:25.. house half full.. my group ordered snapper they were out at 7:30 and we ordered two of the half chickens, out, at 7:30pm on a Saturday... ... then our apps showed in Almost timely manner. My muscles were great and the chopped salad was very good. We then received out entrees at 8:35... wow. The tables surrounding us were served apps and entrees and they showed up 20 after our group.. Walked in on a Saturday just before the dinner rush - we had our four(!) dogs with us, but after a quick pow-wow amongst themselves to make sure they could handle it, we were seated at the fire pit almost immediately, with water bowls for the dogs too. We ordered the voodoo fondue and the alligator tail, along with a bottle of Malbec. The fondue was decadent and delicious, the flavors work together so well. The alligator tail (which we've had in multiple states) was one of the better preparations we've ever eaten - fried gator can turn out chewy and tasteless, and this was neither of those. The horseradish aioli complimented the crunchy batter and the meat inside without overpowering them. We're looking forward to coming back for a full meal. It was a lovely evening repast served by a welcoming and personable staff. I also enjoyed talking with the chefs as they came outside to pick from the fresh herbs that were growing in the planters behind the patio. I so want this place to be successful as we've been coming here since it was Bellino's, I realize this is a rebranding by the same owners but I have to say it's not great. They painted the outside and inside but besides the menu it looks just like Martini's on Main. Our service was ok, but much like before certainly not on point. Our voodoo fondue was much more like. Crab artichoke dip, while tasty, but when you hear the word fondue you expect a lot of cheese, this was not that. Carol ordered the lobster pot pie which while it had a ton or lobster was more like a lobster soup with pastry only on the top, why wouldn't you have pastry all around as that's the best part of a pot pie? I ordered the baby back ribs, which while super tender really did not have any flavor, frankly if I wanted better ribs I'd go to the Texan across the street. But I will say the coleslaw and baked beans were fantastic, I wish I could have had a big bowl of each. This seems to me like a nice try, but this place is still loud and adding in the totally unnecessary music tracks, back in black??? Really? I put this back in the old martini's on main category, go once in awhile and be mildly disappointed. It's a one and done for me. read more

Walked in the door from the pouring rain and the owner was so rude. I was taken back and thought he was kidding when I asked if we can sit at the bar for a drink before our friends arrived. I understood their rule for making sure everyone is there before seating a party but he rudely and repeatedly said we could not have a drink while we wait. It was our first time here, our daughter and son-in-law have been here a couple times. We had a beautiful meal!!! Starting with lobster corn dogs and a lobster pop tart. I'll be honest, I was skeptical. These are two of the best appetizers I've had in years!!! Then I had the lobster chowder before my entree. There were large chunks of lobster all the way to the bottom of the bowl. I had one of the specials for my entree, lasagna with lump crab meat and Italian sausage. So good!!! Perfect amount of cheese, sauce, meat and pasta. I'm still full from dinner and yet I'm craving more lasagna!! Great local establishment updated to a FANTASTIC local establishment. Greeted on arrival from host. We sat at the bar and received drink service immediately. Lots of craft cocktails and local beer to choose from (wine list appeared sufficient, although we did not have any wine). The bourbon raspberry cocktail was superb! Made twice by separate bartenders and was equally consistent. Exactly what I was craving! (Both bartenders we had were fantastic. Quick service with a smile and truly understands the beauty of a "craft" cocktail). Menu for food was exquisite; featuring traditional American favorites such as salmon and filet as well as adventurous items including alligator and lobster pot pie (a MUST try). Great side offerings including a pork belly Brussels sprout and lobster Mac and cheese! Food is absolutely perfect. Steak cooked exactly to order, quality is top notch and sides are perfectly seasoned. If you are looking for an amazing meal at a fair value, this is your place!!!!! Tried to support a local restaurant after seeing them on WGN news asking for help because of the Covid restrictions. They would not let us order their weekend specials for carry out. I can understand having special pricing for dine in customers but with everything going on right now to limit carry out orders is just turning away business. We were passing by and hungry, so decided to try this place. We sat inside. Its small, cozy, and comfortable with GREAT Music. The service was friendly, fast, and attentive. We ordered the filet with the loaded baked potato, which was the size of my kids' head, and the Boursin Creamed spinach. The Filet was perfectly medium and perfectly seasoned. The potato was incredible, but the Boursin Creamed Spinach... OUT OF THIS WORLD! Also ordered the Wagyu Burger, it was SO GOOD! Hand packed, incredibly flavorful and tasty. Very disappointed in the restaurant tonight, it was a birthday dinner that we had been looking forward to for quite sometime. The restaurant is a small place but we went there on a Wednesday night with a party of 11 easily $1000+ bill with our family. The owner who was sitting at the bar when we arrived turned us away telling us he was unable to accommodate us. There was only 3 tables of 2 people sitting there when we arrived. Plenty of room to move 3 tables together for us. There was plenty of room to move a few table together for us, it would be tight I'll admit but we really wanted to support this place on a special occasion. We advised the owner that we were ok being in a tight area, we really liked the place and wanted to eat there tonight. He told us it wasn't going to happen and turned us away bluntly. This place was the birthday person's favorite place in our area. We all recommend this place to everyone we come in contact with us, until now. Very disappointed that we were unable to accommodate for. The bar had a Total of 6-8 people there total when we arrived at 6pm. This was a new place for us to try. Sunday night 7 pm . we get there party if 4 and the bar tender told me where we could sit. I had the sea bass and it was underdone. 16 min later I got a new sea bass that was perfect but everyone else was done eating. A bit of a disappointment $200 bill for 4 dinners and 2 drinks maybe an off night not sure? A restaurant of this price point should have enough staff to accommodate every tables needs. We have never been here before and since we had the ability to go out we thought we'd try a new place. We got there about 7:30-7:45 and there was a decent crowd and waited about 20-30 minutes, which wasn't a big deal since there is an upstairs lounge/deck. We were seated and it took a little bit for our server to get to us. When she got to us there was no real introduction she just asked if we wanted to start off with drinks. We ordered our drinks and she returned a WHILE later with our drinks. She asked if we were ready to order and I asked if there were any specials. She listed off specials and I told her that I wanted to try the lobster poutine. She said sorry we were out. My finance asked about another dish on special and she replied sorry we are out of that too. I asked what specials do you have and she named off something and then followed up with "if we have any left." So I told her we will need a minute. She came back and took our order. My fiance ordered her dinner and also order a salad because her dinner did not come with one. I ordered the ribeye. She asked me what 2 sides I wanted. I asked for the baked potato and she said they are out of the baked potato. I said the asparagus which she replied that they were out of that too. She offered me the Brussel sprouts. I said ok and she then told me that it was a $4 upcharge. $4!!! You are out of everything else. She said yes. I said I don't feel I should have to pay the upcharge since you are out of everything I wanted. No reply. SERIOUSLY??? So I conceded and ordered the Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes and my finance ordered her meal and a salad. After we ordered our server never came back to the table to check on our drinks. Our food came but guess what no salad!! My fiance wanted to get up and walk out. A food runner brought out our food, not our server, and about 5 minutes later our server showed up with her salad. My finance was not happy!! My steak and sides were pretty good and my fiance did not like here dish. While were waiting for our dinner I noticed the manager or possibly owner walking around to tables asking how everything was. Table touches. He never came to our table. Our bill came out to just under $80 and we left the server $5 to let her know that we didn't forget the tip. Her tip was a direct reflection of the poor service we received. It's too bad we will not be back because the place is cute and my food was good. I hope this review will be used as a training opportunity so that other dinners do not have the same experience. read more

Yay! Success and will be back. Just did appetizers today. Tried their scallops holy moly they give you 3 but nice and thick and melted in my mouth wrapped in bacon seasoned well. We also got their mussels also tasty a spicy red sauce thicker than martini on mains one which we liked. Then we also got their pork belly! Yum so good and the jalapeño grits that go with it perfect combination . We came in right when they opened at 4pm on Monday . Sat at the bar . Bartender is great ! Made me a refreshing grey goose martini with blue chess olives and boyfriend loved their anti hero which they poured in an Anti hero glass . We came on a Thursday night for date night. We were greeted at the patio/deck area with the option to dine inside or out; we chose inside. I had a Mai Tai (they were on special for $5) my boyfriend ordered a fist-city. We had a few rounds and our server, Brendan(I hope I spelled it right)brought everything out promptly, no extra waiting. Very accommodating without being over-bearing! For food I ordered the 12oz New York Strip on special(I'm a sucker for specials), it came with sautéed mushrooms and garlic mashed potatoes, boyfriend ordered the Wagyu Burger(I think that's how you spell it.)The flavor and presentation were awesome! We had been waiting to come here for sometime and although the construction in town is still current, we were still able to access the restaurant stress free and the all around service did not let us down. I will say I enjoy the casual-ness of the place, you can definitely dress up or come in for a few drinks with some friends. I have been to this restaurant and really enjoyed myself and had a wonderful experience however my husband and I went this past week to celebrate our anniversary and our experience was not as pleasant. It started out wonderful with great drinks and a salad but when our entrees came I found a hair in my mashed potatoes. If that wasn't enough when I told the waitress she didn't apologize or comp anything which I feel is the least they could do for finding a hair in my food. The waitress did bring me a new side of mashed potatoes but didn't even switch my plate out so I just had to stare at the old mashed potatoes the rest of the meal. That was unfortunately not the celebration we wanted and due to the poor service to make up for that we will not plan on returning. read more

This place is amazing!!!! We checked it out based on a recommendation from our attorney and what a great find. The food is delicious. The presentation is like art. And the scene is nice and cozy with some great classic music playing in the back round. The owner Greg seems like a great guy who takes great pride in his restaurant. 6pm on a Friday night and the place is already packed. We started out with the crab cakes appetizer. All crab...minimal filler. Yum. And for entrees we had bacon wrapped scallops (not on the menu but they made it anyhow for our daughter). Grouper which was a special. And the seared tuna. Nice sized portions with amazing flavors. Looking around the room and everything looked delicious. I wish I would have taken before pics of our food but we dug in quickly so excuse the partial plate pics. Though full we could not pass up the Sundae.
